How about Thursday for the next stream, and maybe Monday and Thursday for the regular days from now on? Shame about the hassle, but we've made it this far and there's no stopping this train now!

Now that I've let the episode stew a bit, I think it's a good time to review it.

First of all, let's sum up the plot without considering the characters for the moment: a guy finds a pod in the woods, there's a creepy scene in the dark on a train, a completely unremarkable alien comes out, cue several pointless scenes of him killing random characters we don't give a shit about (guy who stole the pod, Halloween salad guy, construction site guard) all in the same way - but wait! His actual aim is to kill another random character (now this is what I call high stakes!) and as an explaination he gives some shit about a hunting ritual so trite that even Gatiss could have come up with something better. In an attempt to make him slightly more interesting, he reveals that he collects teeth on his face, which isn't interesting at all, and that he's cheated on his assignment, which is in no way useful to the plot. The final confrontation is set on a crane because height is the easiest way of injecting a little tension into a scene.

I know the counterargument: "this isn't meant to be anything more than plain family fun, so don't ask it to be something different from what it is". Now, that's all understandable, but nowhere does it say that something needs to be a string of tired clichés in order to be family fun. Compare to RTD's least ambitious opener, "Smith & Jones", and you'll see that the latter comes off as immensely more fresh, and because of that, more fun. I'm not asking for "Heaven Sent" here; answer this: is "Smith & Jones" really an impossibly high standard to hold a Doctor Who episode up to?

"Ah yes, but it's really all about the characters, you see, the plot is just an excuse." Is it? Because to me, it looks like the characters actually suffer from the alien plot getting more focus than it deserves. In her first episode, the Doctor takes all of ten minutes to show up, and when she does, she's thrown straight into the action and never catches a breath. There's very little of her coming to terms with her regeneration, in fact next to no attempt is made to show her as a character. Except for the half-hearted small monologue at the end, it's just pseudo-Tennant quipping for 50 minutes. As for the companions, Chibnall simply can't handle introducing this many at once: Ryan has his illness and that's all we know of him, and Yasmin might as well not be there for the latter two thirds of the episode. Did we really need to spend so much screentime on the alien when it didn't make him any less boring and the characters are barely sketched?

On a positive note, Graham and Ryan's grandma are actually given a little focus, making them by the best thing about the episode. But overall, this made me really doubtful of Chibnall's ability to juggle this many companions in 50 minutes.

The final result is not terrible per se, it's just monumentally uninteresting. If this was the first Doctor Who episode I'd seen, I don't think I would come back for more. But who knows, maybe the British public will.

Bloggers rise up

When is the Jodie /doctorwho/ ama?

Fark off David, we know it's you.

Would the episode be better if they had propper opening titles?

I love the Sheffield steel line. Makes me proud of Sheffield, even though I know literally nothing about it.

ep 1 felt like something else

but I cannot pinpoint what it is

ahhhhh Mr Sheffield

The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe?

Stranger Things.

I dont understand why there was no opening titles actually.

I get that. It was a cute little line

To me it felt like a non-BBC Doctor Who

Star Trek Discovery

s1 was very different to TVM and s26

but it felt like DW

this does feels like it

Grace should have been a man

having 2 grandads would be kino

one black and one irish

Apparently opening titles are imitating 1963 too.

I want Ray Wise as a villain

Ray Wise as the new Master with Eric Roberts Master returning for a crossover.

You can kind of see it in the closing titles. It reminds me a lot of the 'howlaround' effect, mostly in how it moves.

tooth guy is recurring villain is almost every episode.

dr who and her friends have to chase after him

Whelan getting promoted

>In fact, as well as throwing his tomatoes at the alien, the apparently inebriated hero served up a killer line: “Eat my salad, ‘alloween!”

>And, for many, it was the best part of the opening episode.

It was, but that isn't a good thing.

Moffat probably laughed when they cut back to the youtube monologue.

>Sue, come look! This bitch thinks he can do non-chronological storytelling!

>I teach in a sixth form college. This morning, my students were abuzz with excitement about Doctor Who, in a way I haven't seen in a very long time. Throughout the lesson, they kept quoting from the episode: 'Eat my salad!', 'I am special', 'Tim Shaw?' etc.

Moffat wrote good Doctor Who but lost the audience.

Chibnall is shit but successful.

RTD was the one who kept both the quality and the ratings up.

You know this is true.

pretty fair desu

this line was kino, making Bradders a bit unlikeable is the actual boldest thing Chibbz did in the episode

>RTD was the one who kept both the quality and the ratings up.

For one series, yeah, then he dropped the ball again with Tennant.

Based, other than Utopia, Midnight, and Turn Left all RTD episodes after S1 are meh-utter shit

>Bland, unimaginative and incoherent plot with rubbish dialogue, bad acting, and an attempt to feel more like popular American shows, which has had loads of money thrown at it to give it an OTT cinematic look and flashy visual effects

People were joking before that Series 11 would continue from The End of Time and erase the Moffat era, but I reckon the episode was more like a modern successor to the TV Movie. Classic Who was good, fun, imaginative storytelling on a shoestring budget with rubbish sets and effects. ChibWho is the reverse.

>You had no right to do that!

Feel like this isn't getting enough attention. What an absolutely dreadful moment. Literally managed to be more openly hypocritical than 10 ever was with one single line of dialogue. The fuck was Chibnall thinking?

It's redeemable if you interpret as just her having hurt pride for her heroic moment interrupted, rather than actually denouncing the guy Tennant-style.

Back when Chibs was first announced, I thought he might bring some Torchwood writers over to Doctor Who. Clarke would have been one of the most interesting choices, I was also thinking of PJ Hammond and BF's Joseph Lidster.

the showrunner after Chibs will make a show that is both shit and nobody likes

Jodie is the modern Colin Baker. She'll be rescued by Big Finish when her career dries up in a few years.

No she's Davison, bland but palatable.

That's only if Big Finish is rescued from its current state.

No, she's just an extension of Capaldi because she's shit

So let me guess, Ian watched the ep, and was so suddenly turned on by Grace that he started to like it but is masking it by just posting a bunch of the actress's songs instead?

Clicked the link expecting his account to have been suspended or something. Disappointed.

i think it's really nice that the guest cast trailer highlighted a lot of the minor characters we'll be seeing in series 11. it's easy to see it as a cynical desparate 'look at all these high brow recognisable actors we have' kind of thing, but i'm not sure if they're really expecting the majority of viewers to know who amita suman or chris noth are. i hope it's an indication of the care they'll put into making these side characters memorable.

honestly i loved this trailer

honestly, 9 just dropping regeneration on Rose with no proper explanation was a dick move, whereas the 11 phone call was sweet

do you think neo dropped the show?

yeah, i love the drums and feel like there's hints of a good theme in there but it's just too overtly bright

reminds me of bill's theme, which sounded like it could be playing when you're shopping in the sims games. better than bill's theme though

Yes. From now on he will only listen to Torchwood ear stories.

Neo couldn't handle it. He hated the episode too much. I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry.

Neo was definitely one of them. cackling away as Ryan talks about his gran dying

isn't it odd that Neo hasn't commented at all on the episode in 24 hours tho

it was so bad he ended it all

wouldn't be surprised desu

Red pill: he actually loved it and is struggling to come to terms with the fact that he now agrees with Immigrant on something

also wouldn't be surprised desu

Actually agree desu

Neo, I'd honestly like to hear your thoughts on The Woman Who Fell To Earth. If you're around, let us know what you think, positive or negative.

Some bad news guys. Neo passed away. He and I actually know each other and well, I just thought I would pass the news on. So yeah. Sorry if I brought any of you down. If anyone has any kind words, I'll gladly write them down and pass them onto his family back in Australia.

He passed in his sleep, so there was no pain… god this sucks.

We've agreed on stuff before, like praise for 12's era.. (I know these are jokes, but I wanted to be clear on that anyway.)

It's okay Immigrant, I'm just having a laugh, maybe a slightly dark sense of humour

Really, though, imagine if they co-wrote something. It would be fucking perfect.

During the 50th I thought they should have had old writers and showrunners come back to each write an episode, shit would've been cash

fellas don't let S11 blind you, just because the Chibnall era is shit doesn't mean that the RTD era is any less shit

>Davies is 6'4

Jesus what a fucking chad

I would take the RTD era over this in a heartbeat, and I say this as a diehard Moffchad who shits on Tennant's run constantly.

RTD had passion, inimitable style, a penchant for strange and fucked up madness, and a vision of the universe tinged with dark humour and sorrow. Yes he usually channeled this into shameless populist nonsense, but by god, at least it was something.

File: ef1cc46058e8c05⋯.jpg (107.64 KB, 1280x640, 2:1, mpv-shot0012.jpg)

It's already dated because it uses the term "blogging" instead of "vlogging" when it's talking about youtube videos

Davison is 6'1" too, which he definitely doesn't look, quite a surprise when I met him

I mean we are only one episode in, Rose was a pretty rubbish episode for all we know the next episode could be absolute kino

Could the secret pidgeon be the series arc? Look at all the fucking question marks, who the fuck is that guy

They should have actually made a youtube channel for this and unprivate the videos as they get shown in the show

File: ee88e35514d3de6⋯.gif (2.94 MB, 540x281, 540:281, 1498507214265.gif)

>Rose was a pretty rubbish episode

Yikes this is bluepilled

that would have been smart marketing, do you really expect that from the team that came up with "and just who are angstrom and epzo"?

ARGH THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BASED! I'm angry they didn't do this now, damn you.

This is the moment Angstrom haters knew they f*cked up…

I mean it's not bad but it's really nothing special, even though most of S1 is kino

See, there was a time when I thought Rose was rubbish too. I mean it has a burping wheelie bin and Plastic Mickey going p-p-p-pizza, right?

I've matured since then and I've realised Rose is actually kino. RTD pulled out all the stops script-wise and he actually does a hell of a lot of work to build both Rose's world, the mystery around the Doctor, and the bittersweetness of her ultimately abandoning her life to fly away.

>3 dislikes

Okay, the third dislike was Neo

That's not the whole vlog, just the first part of it

the cropping is weird and amateur, it looks like it's just some random fan who set the channel up rather than it being official

hmm you might be on to something actually, I'll have to rewatch it now that /who/ has told me what to think

the channel has the rest of it in a seperate video

which is exactly what a fan who lacks video editing skills would do

you even see the BBC watermark in that one, it's definitely not official

oh lol didn't notice that

It is amateur, read the description

I had an idea for an episode about the Doctor making a vlog channel and they don't realize that it's not normal to upload vlogs fighting aliens and whatnot, told through a series of short youtube videos. Would it be kino?

No, they didn't. It's fan-made, and poorly done at that.

What if this is his plan? Forcing you to think for yourself?

Did anyone else not really pick up on how downbeat the tone was until seeing people bring it up afterwards? I mean obviously the last 10 minutes were bleak, but for most of it I wasn't really sure what the tone even was.

File: ffaf94b9c68d087⋯.png (113.16 KB, 250x249, 250:249, 1498149108297.png)

I picked up that the tone was pretty serious and slow besides the wacky mannerisms of jodie, but honestly I liked that. It felt like a more serious drama, like broadchurch or fargo

I felt that way about the opening 10 minutes really, even though there were some good parts the opening was complete shite imo, and all of the directing throughout the episode seemed… weird. I can't really describe it any other way honestly

The actual presentation of the episode was at odds with the tone conveyed by the dialogue and a lot of the acting, that's why. desu I wish he'd just bear down and make Doctor Who a sober drama, it seems like he's sort of compelled towards that direction.

>the comments that anon made the other day about how Neo seemingly controls the /who/ hivemind really got to him and now he's instituting a self-imposed exile in what he thinks is for the good /who/

Jodie/Bradley/Grandmother actress were fantastic. But the actual plot/everything else were mediocre.

>the doctor surviving a fall from fucking space with zero injuries

That immediately took me out of the episode. They could have at least showed her in pain or something and the regeneration healing it. But she had literally no reaction.

>everyone following the doctor for literally no reason

The Doctor usually takes command of the situation, but there has to be a compelling reason for people to let them take over. She was in a post regen state and was confused/spouting gibberish. There was no reason for them to follow her.

>the DNA bomb thing that went nowhere

What was even the point of that? The only character who even reacts to it is Bradley's and he just acts irritated a few times. It would have been way better if that happened earlier to give them a reason to follow The Doctor around.

>the villain

Literally one of the most bland villains we've ever had in NuWho. He wasn't even enjoyable in a so bad its good way like Max Capicorn. He had almost no dialogue, had zero presence, and was stupid. Pretty much as bad as say the robot in Caretaker or 42 or something.

Hopefully the other writers can save us from Chibnalls Doctor Who by numbers.

All part of his plan to make us welcome him telling us what to think about episodes 2-10

Thoughts on the new vortex?

kino idea for a fan web-series

>actually tim shaw

chibnall took his own joke too far

>kino idea for a fan web series

I'll get right on that thanks anon

>Thoughts on the new vortex?

Looks good from what we can see. More chuffed we have a good theme, even if it is just a remix of the original as that is my fav.

Finally finished it. Jodie's acting as the doctor got marginally better. Sad about Grace. She might have been my favorite. They're all very well dressed for their occupations, which is a bit distracting. Liked the music, and the mood it set. New theme is pretty good, though I half expect to hear the beat drop and have drum and bass ensue. Didn't feel like doctor who though, which could be a good or bad thing depending on my mood. Visually it was kind of a scy-fy movie of the week.

File: b9e1080b671bd09⋯.webm (2.95 MB, 1280x720, 16:9, newvortex.webm)

I would bet actual money that the new opening/ending vortex graphic was designed by John Smith. After he did the TUAT vortex, he had an interview in a DWM special where he said he was working on another Who thing.

>Finally finished it

you stopped watching half way through?

oh snap, had no idea they made that. Y'know, I hope that we see that vortex during the Chibbz era because it's really weird to have it for just one shot in the last episode of an era

I suppose eventually it will feel more like Doctor Who, and if not, Doctor Who will feel more like it

Yes. My autism was triggered.

by which part?

Was the series shot chronologically?

I've been wondering if TWHFTE was Jodie's first time acting in character, she really was a bit clumsy for most of the episode and only started feeling comfortable at around the end.

I guess you could argue that it's post-regen in effect, but still.

By what, specifically? Like how far did you get in before you had to pause it

Most likely not. I mean, it's possible but it's incredibly rare in movies and TV

It was her first episode. Order was as follows:

>Block 1

>Block 2

>Block 3

>Block 4

>Block 5

Her acting specifically. It settled in by the end of the episode, but her first few minutes was really jarring. I said yesterday that I was surprised that THOSE were the takes they went with. First attempt about 16 minutes in, second attempt another 20 or so, but that's just cause I got tired and went to bed. I resumed it this evening.

The end titles remind me of this John Smith video

She was definitely too hyper, but I have a feeling she'll get better as the series goes on

How many Doctors filmed episodes first that weren't their first chronological appearance?

>first episode is filmed first so Jodie can naturally fill into the role

>last episodes are filmed last after Jodie has properly gotten into character

based blocks

5, 11, 12, War

Smith did I know, his scene was the one with River on the beach at the end of the Angel one if I remember right

Davison, Smith

Davison's first was Four to Doomsday. Smith's First was Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone.

So, the mpreg episode is in some sort of future hospital, right?

Can we expect Graham's cancer to be fully cured there?

No, because that would make sense.

They gotta get back to New Earth because the cat people are at it again.

I think that ended up actually working in Smith's favor. Imagine in The Eleventh Hour was his first rodeo, it might have not been nearly as strong as it was. Having the Doctor be less sure in the Angel two parter also gave it some tension.

Nah, mpreg episode is episode 9 and he decides to forgo treatment for some asinine reason, then he'll die heroically in the finale.

It would be interesting if every episode had purpose. Ep2: find the tardis, 3 historicals to deal with the companion's respective heritage, they all have family members in different points in history. (Graham's ancestor nearly got burned as a witch, Ryan's ancestor left the usa in the 1960s, that kind of thing)… mpreg episode could be sorting out Graham's cancer as you say… I know I'm combining your idea with another popular little fan theory, but it would be an interesting idea to try and have each episode have a "reason" for them going somewhere. However i think I do prefer the randomness of each trip. Adds more excitement if it seems random.

>episode 1: The doctor believes two warring races are using earth as a battleground

>episode 2: Two warring factions compete to open the tardis

>episode 3: One race rises up to gain rights only currently afforded to their oppressors

Imagine how kino it would be if they don't actually find the TARDIS next episode, and the whole series is Jodie and co looking for it

>episode 1: The doctor believes two warring races are using earth as a battleground

To be fair, she was wrong.

Anyone have a link to all the leaked promo pics, like the mpreg episode?

Where the fuck is my Graham killed 10 school children in a horror bus crash VNA level dark episode?!

just wait son, by the end of the series there will be a crushing scene where Graham slowly dies of cancer while Ryan holds his hand and admits that he loves him right before he dies, and the Doctor stands in the doorway laughing, knowing that she could have cured him with a blast from her sonic screwdriver

Funnily enough I rewatched New Earth today, and 10 points to a patient and says "there wont be a cure for that for nearly 1000 years." And then he just walked on without a care in the world. Like, could he not just sneak the cure from the future, or at the very least feel bad about not helping the poor hospital patient?

Imagine if they actually did an episode like the pompeii one where they gotta make sure a terrible thing happens, but with like, MLK dying. 13 with a gun at the ready….. would be kino

hahaha I forgot about that, that's gold I had to read that a few times because I thought you meant 10 points to that patients like you're giving 10 points to the patient

I had an idea for a story one time like that but with Lincoln where they have to stop someone from going back in time to stop John Wilkes Booth

Sounds like Who Killed Kennedy.

I actually kinda like Asylum. Dinosaurs is a fun and underrated romp desu. And Power of Three is complete comfykino and a solid 7/10 outside of the garbo ending. Mercy and Angels are pretty shite though

Think Jodie's face will appear in the new title sequence?

Imo, Asylum along with Widow are Moff's nadir. I agree Power of Three has redeeming qualities, and I actually think Angels might be the most interesting Series 7 ep (Ponds still should've left in The God Complex though)

I thought it was good, although "good" might be relative after having to go through Moffat's shit for so long. The more family-drama style plot was nice and probably the best part of the episode. Whittaker is OK so far but she seems to be channeling Tennant alot. The actual alien was pretty boring and uninteresting, but I actually liked how everyone is in the dark about the villain's motivations and is trying to figure things out, as a change of pace from "Doctor immediately recognizes alien and knows what they're doing."

Wait, ryans meant to be nineteen? what the fuck?

holy shit the sparks on that tube jodie holds are embarrassing

why didn't jodie fall through the floor of the train as well?

Fuuuuuck yeah, that's the good stuff

That's the thing - I don't believe it's anywhere near as widespread as that tweet is trying to make it out to be. He's just characterising it like "4chan is one person" because it makes for a bigger thing to laugh at

I think they see 4chan as one big board about politics where everyone is right leaning and racist.

I've seen a lot of lefties with no connections to 4chan describe it exactly that way. There were screencaps of the Casino Royale meme going around, where it's Le Chiffre playing ridiculous games at the casino and one woman responded asking when he put on his nazi uniform and demanded the extermination of trans people. When asked what she was talking about, she explained earnestly that's what all 4chan inevitably devolves into.

I mean, she's not that off base…

honestly I think this is the only way they could have resolved the 'how does she survive falling' thing and have it be satisfying

just make it an outright punchline, turn it into a joke so you're too busy laughing to care about the physics involved.

If she had just falling anywhere and survived it would have been lame, and if she survived by using regeneration beams like a jetpack to soften her fall it would have technically worked but defeated the purpose of it being a cliffhanger

>using regeneration beams like a jetpack to soften her fall

Avoided the ground by being distracted at the very last minute by a train load of aliens? Ohhhh… kay then. And off we go: Theme = shite. (Twenty better themes on youtube, most by the same guy, who should be doing it for the show but won't be asked because he's not black, or gay or a woman or a lesbian or disabled or a moose or a sentient robot, in any combination.) Incidental music… can't remember a single note/tone/whatever, and I only finished the episode 20mins ago. Gallery of Ethnocentric Guest Stars = waste of airtime. Script = dull. Acting = ho hum. (Best performance = the guy on the crane. Actually funny. Good job. Shame he's not in the regulars.) Photography = good. Lighting = OK. Editing = questionable. Direction = expended wastefully on everything but the cast. (Except the guy on the crane.) Script = dull. Alien space pod looks like a Homebase flower vase. Sonic is a dildo made of spoons. (So many spoons there's no room for a battery.) Menacing alien… there was a menacing alien? Character with any brains or sense at all… dear GOD did I miss them too?! Script = dull! And uneducational! (Except, wait! Apparently people suffering from dispraxia can climb 300 foot high cranes, At night! In the rain!! Ooooh, no, but wait (again), he did, like drop his torch and shit, so my bad.) Did I say: Script dull dull dull dull FUCKING USELESS and DULL? Summing up: threat level to any character at all = nil; threat level to my sanity = high. Best spin = the shiny new widescreen format means there's 25% less Dr Who to watch each week. (Although the shiny new widescreen format means each episode is probably costing at least 25% more to make.) Ranking: This Episode Ranks About As Highly As… A Dildo Made of Spoons! Do We Care? /who/, now listen, this is important. If this post is activated, then it can only mean one thing. Doctor Who is dead or about to die any second with no chance of escape. And that's okay. It had a good life.
And I bet you're all ranting and moaning now. Typical. But hold on and just read a bit more. This is what you should do. Let Doctor Who die. Just let this old show gather dust. Let it become a boring little show for normies and casuals. And over the years, the world'll move on and the show will be cancelled. And if you want to remember it, then you can do one thing. That's all, one thing. Have a good life. Do that for me, /who/. Have a fantastic life.

Man: "Who are you? WHAT are you?"

Tim Shaw: "It doesn't matter who I am, all that matters is my hunt."

Man: "You're a hunter? What do you specialise in?"

Tim Shaw: "I specialise in hunting the most profitable and well-known livestock in the seven systems. My hunt record sits at 87, and I soon intend to hunt my 88th."

Man: "How will you know your hunt when you see it?"

Tim Shaw: "I'm staring at it right now, human. Make your peace with your deities or gods, and I promise to make this quick."

Was it poetry?

Ryan’s cute

>"Earth is not a hunting ground."

>"Access was granted."

What did Tim Shaw mean by this? Granted by fucking who?

Why didn't Tim Shaw just kill the Doctor and friends either of the two times they confronted him, particularly the one where they were all in range of him and plainly unarmed? Why didn't Tim Shaw just activate the DNA bombs straight away, instead of waiting to gain leverage on people he didn't even know existed?

Fuck, we already know he's not respecting the rules of his culture, he didn't keep them alive for sport.

When the electric spaghetti first attacked them at the train I guess

Oh I guess that's what that was about. That doesn't quite really address the question of why they picked Earth, the line sounded more like some higher authority had designated it as an acceptable hunting area.

>that one scene before Yaztomyfriends and Ryan go to climb the crane and Yaz asks him if he can do it

Did anyone else expect Ryan to say "I have to" because he felt guilty over bringing the alien who killed a bunch of people in? And this would start him overcoming his dispraxia?

I dunno, I just felt there wasn't a lot of characterization for the companions. They were mostly just there.

Why did Tim Shaw leave his return apparatus out in the open where someone could mess about with it and jeopardise his life?

Cross-posting from reddit:

If I were showrunner, I would do a regeneration / Doctor hand-off via an episode in the "real world". It starts like any ordinary finale, but after the first scene you hear the director yell "Cut!", all the actors drop out of character, and it seamlessly transitions into a sort of behind-the-scenes tour. But surprise, one of the Weeping Angels (or whatever) isn't an actor, they're actually real! There's a full-on panic, it's a horror story, fictional cast members are getting zapped, until you hear the sound of the TARDIS materializing and out steps The New Doctor, in-character, here to save the day.

The filming style would slowly shift away from found footage and back to the style of a regular episode. At some point, the New Doctor sees the actor for the previous Doctor and makes a comment about how their last incarnation used to look just like them. There might be a gag where the Doctor tries to fly the prop TARDIS. And after the villains are vanquished, in front of the astonished cast and crew, they leave in the real TARDIS, and the camera follows them to their next adventure. Cue next series.

I really like this cover but I'm concerned about the multiple uses that both the pictures of Liv and Helen have gone through over the last few releases. It's almost as if they're running out of pictures, isn't it? Also, Helen Walker is quite a good actress but at this point her delivery is almost worse than McGann, who is also a really good actor.

Angstrom (Susan Lynch) and Epzo (Shaun Dooley) are the last wo competitors in the prestigious Twelve Galaxies Space Rally, whom the Doctor and her friends meet when they are marooned on an arid, sandy, deserted planet named Desolation.

Twelve Galaxies Space Rally is organized and refereed by the mysterious Ilin (Art Malik), who warns them not to drink the water or travel after dark. If they travel after dark, they risk facing the terrifying creatures that wiped out the planet’s population.

The Doctor is convinced that the TARDIS is at the finish line of the race. When the Doctor and her friends fail to reach the mountains before the sun goes down, they must face the Remnants.

Nobody's perfect.

I wanna see something remotely as bizarre as the word lord in the new series. Moffat was our best chance though

wtf are the word lords

The Word Lords seem best suited to audio due to their reality bending nature. What would the TV equivalent be?

Big Finish things. There's a word lord called Nobody No-one. He's from a universe where the laws of physics are just used to communicate, but the laws of grammar control everything.

If someone says "Nobody can turn out the sun" or "No one knows how to kill the doctor" then he can make the statements become true. Suddenly he can turn out the sun, suddenly he knows how to kill the doctor.

Time Lords but with word powers.

Nobody's perfect.

I don't think there is one bar some bizarre stretch to maybe include The Master's machine from The Mind Robber which was making the story up as it went along.

>Nobody's perfect.

Kind of wish 13'd had more moments of causing mischief like reformatting the dude's phone. For an alien, she slotted into everybody's lives way too fucking easily.

He delivered that line like he had some weird/embarassing/creepy/illegal shit saved on there but had to pretend to be annoyed so as to not raise suspicion.

(the character who actually should come back is Jack)

Imagine Jack making innuendos like he usually would, and then people say Chibnall retconned Jack to be sexist. I feel like it would be in character for him to make a crack at the doctor's gender, and i reckon tumblr wouldnt like it

Her ending is retarded but they should just leave it alone, she's already come back three fucking times, one of which was to retroactively give her a happy ending, please for the love of god enough of the worst bloody companion

proven that the new ratio is scaled down

Almost all of the antagonists suffer worse fates than usual - two complete mutations of people who didn't deserve it, two people shredded in a thresher, three people killed in an explosion, several people strangled and drowned by plants. People like to make a big fuss over how violent Resurrection is (it is a violent story, don't get me wrong), but I think that this one is a bit understated.

Everyone is on top form and the score is absolutely brilliant. The cliffhangers aren't exactly fantastic but I think that they're made up for by the great lighting and script.

I nominate Kinda, which gets away with it by making each one incredbly entertaining rather than worrying about making them suspenseful.
