Some people were for, some against. (There are a few disadvantages in being over here, such as less advanced board software.) It went and happened, but there was a bit of friction in actually inviting night /who/res over, I recall people got banned for advertising? Plus someone spamming /who/ apparently. So now some of them hate us. Regardless, anyone who doesn't enjoy day /who/ is welcome here.
No.1414

I know it hasn't reached that point yet but still
No.1484
>>1479I personally like the change, I think the idea behind it was a few reasons, one being it will improve ratings (not that the ratings are falling) and they are (hopefully) treading into unknown territory that could potentially really upset some children so moving it back avoids that.
No.1485
>>1483Oh please no. I don't want to see things like this. I've been so happy with Capaldi, I really hope they don't cancel it or get rid of him just because fan girls aren't getting their pretty young boy eye-candy that they had with Matt Smith.

Pretty solid episode, I thought.
Few thoughts:
- Psi and Saibra were great. I'd love to see them back at some point.
- Was thinking "this is a waste of Keeley Hawes"… right up until the Karabaxos reveal. Wonderful.
- Great episode visually. Loved the use of colour. It actually made "using the same corridor again and again" look new and inventive and effective.
- Guessed who the Architect was from the moment the Doctor announced he hated him. Reminds me of Amy's Choice's "no one hates myself more than he does".
Gets an 8/10 from me.

We can be sure of what the Twelfth Doctor's new theme (or at least Series 8's action theme) is now. It's the leitmotif played here, which got used a lot this episode:
http://youtu.be/YKpMKK2IUQ8?t=2m55sIt's not that bad. Pretty simple, could potentially get annoying. I remember the chord sequence alone being used at times, that was great. Now go to Into the Dalek just as 12 says "I am part of you…" to Rusty, it's in the background
The first 3 notes pop up more than once in RoS
That's 12's theme no doubt about it

>>1612S1: 5/10 (decent first three, Slitheen two-parter brings it down)
S2: 6/10 (mostly average, though TGitF brings it up a little)
S3: 3/10 (mostly average, brought crashing down by Dalek two-parter)
S4: 6/10 (generally decent)
S5: 7/10 (good, brought down a little by TBB and a lot by VotD)
S6: 7.5/10 (very good, brought down a little by TRF and a lot by CotBSs)
S7: 6/10 (mostly average/bad, though AotD brings it up a little)
S8: 7.5/10 (mostly good, sometimes very good, brought down a little by RoS)
Joint best with Series 6. Not bad.
The problem with Series 6, though, was that the arc was just plain annoying rather than interesting. And a lot of the rest of the episodes (Night Terrors especially, and The Almost People was far worse than TRF) brought the standard down.
Let's hope Series 8 stays good.

I think someone might have pointed it out earlier, but for some reason, this week they used the Classic Who (also RTD era) version of the opening titles sting sound instead of the new one. Felt a bit out of place.
No.1638
>>1637Oh yeah, I heard that. Been rewatching some 9 episodes lately though, so I barely noticed.
I guess that's part of them still messing around with the opening. They still haven't decided on a specific way to capitalise the title in the opening credits (for instance, last week was "Listen", today was "TIME HEIST", and it varied in the first three episodes too).

Moff on The Caretaker
No.1642
>>1641Yeah, this isn't much different from what I was expecting. Definitely gonna be some friction between the Doctor and Danny.
Also, more details:
Coal Hill School has a new caretaker. He hides a strange blue box in his cupboard and carries a sonic screwdriver instead of a broom. Clara is suitably mortified, but the Doctor has got bigger things to worry about – especially when Danny Pink starts to work out just what has been going on…
>CLARA: “This school is in danger.”>THE DOCTOR: “Lucky I’m here then.”>CLARA: “From you… You wouldn’t be here if there wasn’t an alien threat nearby. Your strategy for dealing with it involves endangering this school.”>THE DOCTOR: “You don’t know that.”>CLARA: “I don’t know anything – because you haven’t told me anything. Which means I wouldn’t approve. Which means you’re endangering this school.”
>Similarities to The Lodger with the Doctor trying to blend in, but he is far ruder and has no patience.>Writers Gareth Roberts and Moffat also mimicked The Lodger in terms of threat level, feeling Closing Time had too much of it.>First major appearance of recurring character Coal Hill pupil Courtney. The Doctor sees a kindred spirit in her in that she has no social niceties>The Doctor is very rude to Danny, especially when he learns of his past as a soldier. Roberts wondered if they were going too far with it, but they kept it in anyway. No.1643

It seems like a lot of complaints about this episode are down to failure to understand things that were reasoned fairly well in the episode but perhaps weren't shoved in your face enough. I've seen someone ask why the Teller's mate was locked up. I've seen someone ask why there was no 'explanation' of the teleporters that were disguised as atom shredders. I've seen someone say they basically didn't understand any of it at all. (None of these were on /who/ by the way.)
Basically it seems a rare case of an episode actually requiring your attention.
