God this song is Clara/12 kino too

Vinay Patel is going to disappoint you because you’ve put unreasonable expectations on his episode

The show? He played them in the show.

First for Tereleptils

im telling you right now folks, vinays episode wont be that good.

It's going to be the best episode of the series, sure. But just because chibs name isn't on it doesnt mean it has been writers room fucked

Not long till Blu-Ray

At this stage Neo's gonna have to say he enjoyed it because of the hype he's built for it.

doesnt mean it hasn't been writers room fucked*

>I’m also proud of a line – I’m very rarely proud of anything I write – but I’m proud of the line ‘Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?’ because I got obsessed when I started to write this that Cybermen have no emotion, so it starts with Clara unable to find a way to say I love you and ends with Danny unable to find a way to say I love you, there are two phone calls that book-end it, and in the middle, the cracked old Caledonian gets it exactly right, he says I love you perfectly. […]

>He’s surprised he has to say it. That’s the truth about him, he says lots of horrible things all the time, that’s because he assumes all the other stuff is taken for granted and it’s only in that moment Clara realises just how much he’s assuming is taken for granted, absolute monomaniacal devotion to her. He absolutely loves her.

Are you counting Asylum as Clara? Or is there another one I forgot about

>echo of Clara

God I wish this scene wasn't cut, it's just 14 seconds and is absolute kino

this is the best scene in Doctor Who history

Worthy of ToaT

what episode is it even from

Death in Heaven

Death in Heaven

this reminds me of those little clips DVDs play before taking you to the menu screen

Life in Hell

Ahh yes, that fits better. Good shout.

When he goes kinda insane at the end presumably

Death in Heaven Sent

I think it would have played very weirdly in the episode. He's just recovered from watching all his UNIT mates get killed and now he's about to fly off to go convince Clara that she mustn't perform euthanasia on her boyfriend or he'll kill her.

Non-life in Nirvana

We need a boxset of uncut versions of all the Talalay eps.

Is this all we are now. People who wistfully look back on the good ol days to console themselves about how shit Who has become? I mean we've talked more about four year old episodes than we have the new one coming out fucking tomorrow in the past thread or so

why did we get bill instead of shona? has moff ever spoken about this?

Wistfully looking back on the ol days and talking about four year old episodes was what we did when Death in Heaven first aired.

Changing it to the end after he beats the shit out of the TARDIS would be kino and it would fit tho

Her actress was too busy beating up Ashildr.

After he beats the shit out of the TARDIS? Isn't he really sad and depressed there? Why would he suddenly be goofily grinning and yelling "Doctor in the TARDIS!"

this is the only time of year i can watch doctor who properly because it feels weird watching christmas specials unless we're near December, anyone else?

2 fucking seasons of that shit

>Faceless Men were supposed to be enigmatic assassins who gave up their personality and identity for the cause

>Yet the Waif still consistently acts like a bitch to Arya and goes out of her way to attack her out of personal spite

>he's about to fly off to go convince Clara that she mustn't perform euthanasia on her boyfriend

Sometimes when you take any big Moffat episode and just recap the plot of it, from start to finish, you appreciate how much of a madlad he was.

Not immediately after it, but it sets up his goofier and crazier persona in Last Christmas and S9

File: c98abc90893364e⋯.jpg (32.75 KB, 674x582, 337:291, moff dab.jpg)

Don't remind me anon

>Sometimes when you take any big Moffat episode and just recap the plot of it,

now do this with ANY chibnall episode

>bomb almost kills all of Torchwood

>find out Owen's girlfriend died from brain slug

>UNIT now tortures innocent people and would have let Tosh die in a cold prison cell alone and forgotten if Jack didn't show up

>Jack's brother is still alive

>Jack's brother is now evil

Yeah, I don't know how to make it sound crazy.

including TW?

It wasn't terrible. It was boring. It was ordinary. People just kept watching as if nothing happened. The Moffat era was alive, and then it was dead and it was nothing. Like stepping off a bus.

>Jack's brother

reminder he was killed in the CoE explosion

File: 92ca89c9e8af3ff⋯.jpg (236.92 KB, 1024x906, 512:453, classic_doctors__new_monst….jpg)

yeah but it works to a lesser extent with TW because BASED RTD was running the show which offset the chib factor a bit

Reminder they never explained who the hell tortured him enough to turn him evil

Is there a Moffat era quote for every single bit of dissapointment we feel with series 11

how do the silence even work in audio form?

I reckon some of it was held for 13 episodes S3 which never came.

File: 62e57243d7f2b60⋯.png (14.32 KB, 500x250, 2:1, Oekaki.png)

They never explained who Bilis was or the deal with that tarot girl either. Or what's really going on with Torchwood Two or Torchwood Four. Torchwood had so many dropped plot points.

Probably not unlike the Weeping Angels.

Silence make more sense for audio than Angels at least, you can still do the gimmick of "skipping" scenes where they appear.

Imagine if just a few years ago you told your younger self that Moffat would write an episode about the Doctor walking around a castle, talking to himself and punching a wall for four billion years and it would literally be the show's best episode

"I'm going to turn around now."

Imagine if just a few years ago you told your younger self that the guy who wrote that Torchwood episode where Spike from Buffy tried to fuck a poodle would take over the show after Moffat left.

>bwah, lines on my arm that weren't there before

Just throw one of these in every so often

I wouldn't be surprised considering Moffat had already written most of the shows best episodes

Interestingly enough this ep was very well received in the stream lately

The Silence are easy to do since they talked and occasionally made gurgling noises. With the Weeping Angels, there are only so many times you can have the actors go "Did that statue just move?"

"Man I feel like I'm forgetting somethin-OH HEY MR. STAR TREK"

Anyone remember the name of that EDA where 8 says they don't consider themselves a man or a woman?

what audio comes after terror firma?

Scaredy Cat

thanks guys, what am in for?

It is not that bad, but it takes some fantasy undertones

>that Torchwood episode where Spike from Buffy tried to fuck a poodle

I don't remember this at all…

Just listened to it for the first time a little bit ago, didn't like it very much. What did you think of Terror Firma btw? I thought it was absolute earkino without even any prior knowledge of Gemma and Samson

>Terror Firma

Now I remember. The Torchwood Series 2 story arc episodes were infinitely more entertaining than "what if the beast had a son?"

It's up there, but I'd say Scherzo, Natural History of Fear, Zagreus and Dr. Who and the Pirates are a bit better in my book

all those 3 are my faves too

never listened to Pirates

Marian Conspiracy is kino!

Creatues of Beauty

Gonna give Power another go, I think I'm being too critical about it.

the book is better

What didn't you like about Power?

Pat out of character

Troughton's out of his dome for a large section of its run-time and acts as a total hindrance, the story seems quite drawn-out and the animation is distressingly poor.

There's also other things but I can't remember what I disliked about it that much

post regeneration stress, man

They go to Vulcan and Spock is not there

How can you be out of character when it's your first story?

He did not get in gear of the 2nd doc we love in his first attempt

I can give them the benefit of the doubt for the most part since they had no idea what the fuck they're doing but Troughton acts completely differently to Hartnell for the entire story.

same as you basically, the concept is absolute kino

how come we never got anymore old companion episodes in the moff era? the sontaran two parter in s4 is great imo

>sontaran two parter in s4

That's a disgustingly purple episode

Going into cryosleep, wake me up when kino is happening

not orange and teal enough for your tastes?

you'll never wake up during the chibnall era

Martha's usage in that two-parter isn't exactly brilliant.

What an obnoxious thing to say

It's super comfy, even besides the fact that it has sixie singing show tunes the idea is genius

I fucking love the bit at the end of part 2 where 8 yells "I REMEMBER!11!" as per usual his delivery is perfect but that one line in particular gave me goosebumps

>I fucking love the bit at the end of part 2 where 8 yells "I REMEMBER!11!" as per usual his delivery is perfect but that one line in particular gave me goosebumps

best PM acting ever

That and "OF COURSE I LOVE YOU" from Scherzo easily are. I remember I was on the bus when I listened to Terror Firma and having to hide my reaction of the kino reveal in part 2

Martha's presence worked much better in The Doctor's Daughter I thought.

>wake me up when kino is happening

17 hours time then!

I would take a purple episode over a teal episode or an orange episode any day

Imagine making it into a TV movie

>the timeline where all of 8's audios were made in to TV movies

Goddamn anon why must we live in the worst timeline

Found out my cousin is a Moffchad last night, we had good crack talking about Heaven Sent and shitting on Series 11, verycomfyman

How do your family members feel about Who, /who/?

replace ashildir with shona and you've got yourselves a better series.

Shona literally wanted to hang out with clara at the end of the episode, what better way than them sharing a tardis?

wew that's a based idea. Not sure how you'd get it to work and still have room for Ashildr in the series but Clara and Shona works so much better.

My brother is an “I dropped the show because the writing got too pretentious” type

He dislikes Moffat in general now, he said all of this when we watched the Sherlock S4 finale

>implying Sherlock S4 wasn't Gatiss's fault

you would definitely either have to change the girl who died to be about something different, just make sure it ends with the same immortality shtick

Thinking about it though, shona would have to revert a bit by the finale, the charm of her character is that she's a bit of a dolt and having her be as smart as ashildir was would probably not transition well.

Or you could replace Rigsy's role with Shona? Still not ideal though because Rigsy was a nice addition.

Actively dismissive. My mom thinks 10,11,12 are attractive. I got one family member to watch DoaS with me about a year ago, but they were playing with their tablet during it, so…Belle's a fan of course.

the fucking Christmas cracker role switch from TOTD to last christmas is so fucking good and a thousand times better than anything that will ever come from the show in the next 3 years

Will chibnall ever attempt anything remotely poetic?

Imagine being Moffat and not only writing something as kino as Time of the Doctor, but continuing on from there, building on it and referencing it to poetic effect in future episodes.

The fucking madman.

>rigsy shona clara 12 ensemble series

this would be the best thing ever, you can even just pair off shona with rigsy so the 12/clara dynamic doesn't get affected

The average throwaway quip from the Moff era provides more food for thought than anything we're gonna get

let's write it

>Mickey and Rory were soyboys

Rory had to deal with sick and dying people every single day, in a women-dominated field that he was probably judged for. He was very awesome.

Danny has a different arc for dealing with the situation, because as an army man, he's dealt with following orders emotionlessly all his life.

Imagine writing Time of the Doctor and then IMMEDIATELY following it with an episode that contains extra footage you secretly shot while making Time of the Doctor, in order to create a scene where two Doctors talk at once in completely different time periods and locations.

soy up in this boy of bitch

i remember being so disappointing that I got that spoiled from filming, it's such a good moment

My parents watched the classic series back in the day and still watch it but have pretty pleb tastes, 4 and 10 are their favorites of course. My brother stopped watching after 10 left, and I've shown a few episodes to my gran, one of which was Ghost Monument recently and she complained about Jody being annoying the whole time. Oh and my uncle has seen it and I think likes the classics and Capaldi

At least we have Sesska's reaction.

>tfw have non-English speaking parents

>they like 10 the most because he runs the fastest

>implying Sherlock S4 was bad other than the first episode

Lying Detective is Moffkino at its finest and tied with His Last Vow for best episode imo, and the Final Problem is pretty great too

God damn I never even noticed that, I really doubt we'll ever get any stretch of episodes more kino than Day of the Doctor-Husbands of River song

File: 6e6f1d7c06c05c0⋯.png (217.28 KB, 343x436, 343:436, ClipboardImage.png)

dave ross?

My parents have no clue Doctor Who exists.

My brother liked RTD episodes when it was on TV but he never picked up it after that.

No, and thats okay

Its as good as reason as any for liking 10.

Nilso Snr is a staunch fan of Pertwee and Tom Baker despite not being able to name a single episode of Baker's after The Hand of Fear. He didn't mind Davison that much, hated Colin Baker and McCoy. He didn't care about McGann, loved Eccleston, hates Tennant and Smith and thought Capaldi was ok.

I have a semi-regular conversation with him and he keeps pining for the glory days or what he perceives to be the shows glory days

File: 606a8c3ec4b4169⋯.png (475.27 KB, 500x490, 50:49, oh holy god.png)

>tfw realising there don't really ever need to be any more stories about Davros, the Master, the Cybermen, or the Time Lords (the Daleks have already been redundant since Jubilee)

Jesus christ, Moffat really was thorough in writing the conclusion to Doctor Who. Except for the bit where it kept going at the end.

People clock out of the final problem when they do the action schlock explosion jump out of the apartment and cut to after they all recovered, so they completely miss the kino as fuck saw game but they recover in time to get verged by the plane being imaginary as if it represents everything wrong with moff

God I wish TDF was the end of the show, I've been saying this even since before TUaT it would have been the perfect ending

File: 9e9a07c632443dd⋯.jpg (135.88 KB, 1920x1080, 16:9, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.JPG)

ruined the show btw

>THIS is our perfect ending

Are you emotionally prepared for chibnall to bring back the master and completely ruin it?

The action movie jump out of Baker Street is silly but it's comfy and shot well oh god I had forgotten the plane was imaginary yeah that was retarded but it doesn't ruin the episode for me

File: 1f816129bf0bf5e⋯.png (389.88 KB, 637x569, 637:569, 1f816129bf0bf5ec3bd4c8166c….png)

I hope if that man has any respect for the show he's """writing""" he will leave the Master the frick alone

The plane…was abstract!

the day of the doctor novelisation works for me as the final word on doctor who

Reminder that neo hasn’t watched Sherlock yet so be considerate when discussing spoilers

I agree about The Lying Detective. It's basically Moff's second (?) go at doing Heaven Sent. But The Six Thatchers >>>> The Final Problem for me, definitely.

Are you ready for /who/ to become Moffat General when TTW and Dracula come out since there’ll be nothing to discuss about chibnall who?

I am so fucking ready.

I fully expect RTD General when Years and Years comes out, by the way. Don't disappoint me.

Yes. Though I worry about gatiss flexing his horror knowledge and influencing moffat's writing though.

BIFF: We've got four hours of this? Four hours of just sitting here?

DOCTOR: Tell you what. We'll have to talk to each other instead.

[98 kliks later…]

(The idea has caught on. Everyone is listening to Val and Biff's stories.)

VAL: So Biff said, I'm going swimming.

BIFF: Oh, I was all ready. Trunks and everything. Nose plug.

VAL: He had this little nose plug. You should have seen him.

BIFF: And I went marching up to the lifeguard. And he was a Shamboni. You know, those big foreheads?

VAL: Great big forehead.

BIFF: And I said, where's the pool? And he said

BIFF + VAL: The pool is abstract.

(Jethro is bored to tears.)

VAL: It wasn't a real pool.

BIFF: It was a concept.

DOCTOR: And you were wearing a nose plug.

BIFF: I was like this. Ooo, where's the pool?

Oh god no I couldn't stand the Six Thatchers, only thing by Talaley I didn't like that I've seen

Moffat circlejerking is extremely comfy.

theres a certain… choice thread on /tv/ right now…

All the "Hurr durr Sherlock is shit watch Elementary instead" talk that pervades social media these days is such bullshit. The Lying Detective was GOAT and The Final Problem has a couple cool scenes. And Elementary's boring. It's just your standard CBS detective show.

I thought she did as well as she could with the episode, but the dice rolling overlayed on the sky was a bit too much for me. I'm putting spoilers just for you daddy neo I hope you're happy

This is a fan mockup of a calendar, but I feel like somehow it inexpressibly embodies the JUSTness of the franchise.

>watch elementary instead

What the fuck do people actually say that? Isn’t elementary just one step above CSI/NCIS tier procedural trash?

Most calendars are JUST. They give calendars out for free at Chinese restaurants anyway.

I have to assume it's a similar effect to people claiming S11 is better than Moffat's era. Kino has its enemies.

>that look on 10 and 12's face

They know

oh yeah speaking of Sherlock I've been reading through all the books and they are maximum comfy, anyone ever read them?

Found a complete compilation for a couple bucks in an Aldi, still haven't read any of it though

I don't get it. If you really hate Sherlock so much and want to tell people to watch another Sherlock Holmes thing, tell them to watch the Jeremy Brett show instead. Or even do Sherlock Holmes and the 22nd Century if you want to take the piss.

Yeah I'm reading a compilation too, they can be a bit hard to get through at points but they're very very comfy

Love an Aldi's. Fresh pineapple for a buck.

Obligatory pointing out of the fact that Paul Cornell wrote an episode of Elementary.

when yuo see it yuo'll shit bricks

Sarff is kino. We've been over this.

I'm trying to remember what's left that's important from Classic Who that hasn't been brought back/covered in nuWho. Chibnall can at least get away with ignoring older stuff after Moffat's thorough as fuck sweep through before the end of his run.

Romana? Omega? Susan?

i wish the concept got fleshed out more desu

Nah fuck that. If anyone other than Chibnall had taken over the show would still be worth watching. Gatiss at least, despite being the weakest regular nuWho writer not named Chris Chibnall, would've continued RTD/Moffat's approach to the shows production and we'd have a lot more regular writers/directors coming back instead of Chibnall's purge approach.

It's about a Dalek who gets separated from the other Daleks (it was the loose inspiration for S1's "Dalek", same writer) and gradually realises what the real problem wtih the Daleks is. It's ball bustingly brilliant and you should make listening to it a priority.

File: 33a025291652072⋯.jpg (394.18 KB, 1480x1080, 37:27, Count Moffula.jpg)

>Moffat, Gatiss, and Mathieson writing

>Capaldi and McGann as Dracula and Van Helsing

>Jenna as Mina Harker

>Arthur Darvill as Jonathan Harker

>Gatiss given a character to play

>Talalay directing

>Marigold composing

Would Moff have wanted that though? He never seemed like the guy who wanted to have the last ever word on Doctor Who. Just saw himself as a guy taking the helm for a while until the next one would take over.

>He never seemed like the guy who wanted to have the last ever word on Doctor Who.

And that's why he did such a great job of it.

Starting episode 4 now. Distracted by Jodie needing to wash her hair in the first scene with the tardis team. Kinda liking the vortex, not feeling the tardis still.

I just feel like TDF was the perfect wrap up to everything that has happened in the show, and seeing the Chibnall era I wish it were the end

Get in loser, we're making kino.

Voyage of the Damned is on TV. Why is this special so bipolar? It's marketed as the comfy Christmas special guest starring Kylie Minogue, but all the sympathetic and goofy characters die horribly.

Voyage of the Damned is actually my least favorite episode and I hate it with a passion. It's an absolute mess from start to finish

It's comfy in the sense that it plays out like a drunken hallucination.

I don't think we ever decided whether to ship Thirteen with Ten or Eleven.

series 11 is the diablo immortal of doctor who

Really, your least favorite? I don't think it's the best episode but what's so bad about it?

>That bathtub shattering

Come the fuck on.

how many of these are actually confirmed?

voyage of the damned is the closest doctor who has gotten to a disaster movie

Literally just Moff and Gaypiss writing.

The scene with Grace hit me in the feels though.

Sister's watched through Series 10 (but not TUAT yet) and still seems to enjoy it, despite being fairly showrunner agnostic. Dad stopped caring after Eccleston and my brother not too long after (think he watched up to series 3 maybe?). Mom stopped after series 5 cause she thought Matt looked bizarre.

pure campkino

voyage of the damned is frockgun

That's one word for it

every episode except for rosa could have just as easily been in the big finish bargain bin for 2 pound fifty (which i would definitely not pay for)

every episode of S11 so far has been tradgun

Not wrong, but TWWFTE is too shit even for Big Finish

Let's be real. The past four episodes would be too trad and bland even for a Big Finish boxset entirely written by Matt Fitton.

I can't rememberer anything to do with the episode 42. Something to do with a star I think. Wonder if this is how I'll look back on S11.

pub quiz password doors

hellooooo benjamin

How much you want to bet the first episode of series 12 is gonna be Chibbs first whack at the Daleks?

unironically how do we, as fans (and some tax payers), lobby the BBC for whenever they drop chibnall to chose someone good? is there realistically anything the plebs can do?

it'll be the new years special

He's gonna whack alright.

>is there realistically anything the plebs can do?

No. If anything, our lobbying might somehow bring in an even worse showrunner.

>Jodie needing to wash her hair

screencap? don't remember what her hair looked like and dont feel like downloading it again just for that

What is the point of having an annual special episode if it doesn't use a holiday for some narrative relevance? What makes the episode special enough to justify its existence separate to the series?

you went the whole week without watching it?

has Chibnall never written for the Daleks? I know he's written for the Cybermen (lol) and the Silurians. I suppose Moffat never wrote for any non-original monsters until The Pandorica Opens, where he wrote for all of them.

Christmas episodes had barely anything to do with Christmas until Moffat. It was just part of the aesthetic in some shape or form or just when the episode was set, even when it made no sense for it to be set on Christmas (The Runaway Bride)

Being part of the aesthetic is enough

do you think chibnall will incorporate new years into his new years episode?

>I know he's written for the Cybermen (lol) and the Silurians

Out of those two, all he did for the Silurians was do structurally the same story Hulke did with no crucial changes to the basic Silurian plot, and all Cyberwoman did was convince Torchwood not to use any Doctor Who monsters until a decade later.

Not the whole week, but yes. I may have even come up with excuses to send the other half on errands to avoid it. 36:00 in and it isn't awful. Might be the best yet.

how could you even translate anything from that episode to audio form?

>"Oh look a giant Hershey's Kiss"

>"I'm building a new Sonic now"

>"Ah yes the Stenza, the monster where the only thing notable about you is your appearance"

Chibnall more than made up for it in every episode since tho

>Every fucking Silurian story is "Humans unearth Silurians, both races fight, Doctor tries to stop them, but Silurians all end up dead because they just couldn't get along"

Is it so hard to do a Silurian story where it's the 25th century, and both humans and Silurians are now friends with each other while fighting off a bigger threat? Sounds hokey, but would still be different from any other Silurian story.

TWWFTE is the only episode that has tried to do anything interesting, narrative-wise. It tells a nonlinear story with a twist regarding the proper context of the first scene we see.

You could call it primitive and you'd be right, but at least it was something

ohoho just wait

what was that about again

i think neo said something about the snakes being symbolism for.. themes… something

anyone who thinks Rey doesn't have any character development can only understand movies that are just wikipedia plot summaries (ie: capeshit) because they process anything that happens that isn't surface level shit

>what should my new monster be?

>how about earth snakes!

chibnall tier decision

Maybe Sarff's meant to be an Ouroboros, symbolizing how the fight between the Doctor and the Daleks is like a snake eating its own tail.

Failings of democracy a la Kill the Moon also paralleling the symbiotic relationship between Dave Ross and the Daleks

I think he's supposed to represent the Daleks or some shit idk

The ultimate blackpill is that The Force Awakens is utter shit and that The Last Jedi is ultrakino and the best SW

Big curled up snake man in a dress filled with a nest of smaller snakes who have to take votes to make decisions? Nah, it's a Moff idea.

but why do they look like regular earth snakes instead of something alien?

>this is how we win - not fighting what we hate, but saving what we love

Because snakes are scary and interesting to look at, and the fact that it's a fucking man is enough alien-ness to carry the idea.

Define alien snakes. Because if they looked too alien, audiences wouldn't have been freaked out. While making them look like regular snakes creates that familiarity. Like why the Weeping Angels look like statues at cemeteries. And why the Silence look like FBI agents.

alien snakes would be more interesting to look at, just give them a different looking head but all the same mannerisms as a regular snake

this but unironically

ITT: post things things moff did to the lore that chibnall can never take away no matter how much it verges both him and moff haters

>clara is the most important companion

>the doctor is half human

>the doctor left gallifrey because of the hybrid

>the doctor only chose his tardis because of clara

The Last Jedi is the series 9 of Star Wars in that it's absolute kino but normies hate it with a passion

Colony Sarff teaches you how to watch Series 9, you have to look for the cracked mirrors. He's Davros' companion and very close to the traditional idea of a magical familiar. As a humanoid avatar for a collective, he mirrors Davros's role in TWF as representative of the Daleks, complete with deceptive presentation. He's even a hybrid. (And if you want the political subtext, he's a hilarious example of how even a perfect democracy can be in thrall to monstrous powers.)

>the doctor is half human

moff didn't confirm this

Yeah. nah

yes he did and you cannot prove me wrong

It looks flat and weighed down. It could be the humidity I suppose. The funny thing is with some hair and hairstyles is you can't get some little things to work with freshly washed hair. That style is one of those that there's a window of time in which it "looks good" or right.

It did take a down turn in the last few minutes. Ironically I enjoyed the grime scene.

The Doctor conspicuously failing to rebut Ashildr's assertion there is as good a confirmation as any, tbf.

Point to the line in hell bent which confirmed the half-human theory

>all those guys who verged over Davros having eyes

He's one of the smartest scientists in the universe and he's rebuilt his body several times over. Is it really that implausible that he gave himself new eyes?

Y'know I thought of this while watching Arachnids, do you think they put the police box in the TARDIS interior just so that they didn't have to black out/cgi in inside of the box? The one shot where Graham opens the TARDIS and you can see the white inside at the end of last week's episode made me think of this

It was said pretty quickly and quietly by Capaldi, it's not surprising that you missed it. It was when he said

>Death is Time Lord for man flu. ohbythewayimhalfhuman.

>just looked at the heaven sent script

>moff capitalized "Me" when referring to the hybrid

Was this not obvious after watching Hell Bent?

What source did you use for the script?

as dr who would say, "google it"

When Ryan's dad finally shows up, he's gonna turn out to be a bigger asshole than the dad from The Idiot's Lantern, forbid his son from traveling with the Doctor even though he's a grown man, and 13's gonna have to fight him in the finale, right? And just to shoehorn in some sci-fi shit, say Ryan's dad found powered alien armor and is using it for his own personal gain.

maybe maybe not

>chibnall's first black character has a deadbeat dad

what did he mean by this?

There's a SJA episode with basically a version of this plot and it was done really well

>Graham stands up to Ryan's dad knowing he has no real way to counter him but because he wants to protect his grandson no matter what

>gets gravely wounded and slowly dies in Ryan's arms

>Ryan finally calls him "Granddad" moments before he passes away

We're nothing, really. We're a fucking speck. The vast majority of normies are eating this shit up and there is literally nothing we can do about it.

I'm fully expecting some kind of "graham is mortally wounded and ryan calls him granddad for the first time right before he dies" story

Other than the alien shit this would unironically be kino

>No! Don't die G-Granddad

Will definitely happen in some form or another

rip grand dad

I really hope we get another full series with this TARDIS team, or atleast Ryan and Graham because I feel like their exits won't mean much if we've only had 10 episodes to get to know them

i was more distracted by how prominently her natural hair color is showing

>Jillian suffers from schizo-affective disorder, borderline personality disorder, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder.

I genuinely feel bad for her, but shouldn't someone with schizoaffective disorder seek a caretaker instead of trying to find a room to rent? And isn't her goal of a thousand quid too small an amount for either anyway?

>A Single Exposure to the American Flag Shifts Support Toward Republicanism up to 8 Months Later

>shouldn't someone with schizoaffective disorder seek a caretaker instead of trying to find a room to rent?

Probably easier said than done especially if pernicious family/guardians are interfering, but it could be a further step after getting out of there.

Foreman episode 2 WHEN. We need some homegrown kino now that we can no longer look to the show for it

We don't have a girl to voice the rest of nirvi's lines

Confession: As someone who likes Series 11, I feel like /who/ almost isn't for me anymore, and considers me stupid for still liking S11. Like I've lost my fandom space.

I don't consider you stupid. I consider you a glass half full guy.

I appreciate the fact that you have an opinion different to what is commonly held here, I value hearing thoughts from both sides

I don't think anyone considers you stupid for liking it, people want different things out of the show, it's bound to happen with something so varied. I apologize if i ever gave off that vibe.

regardless I want more people who actually like it to come here, i'd rather have people debating about it than us just circle jerking hate for series 11

Didn't the lone femanon we had record episode 2's line as well? We could finish that

can't remember you could check the google drive

Hell Bent was SHIT and the Doctor Falls Part 1 was good but then the fucking water girl shows up and saves the day? fucking lazy ass writing

Thank you.

True, but with 12's era, there was still some support for people who liked even the bad eps. Whereas, in this thread

>every episode (in S11) except for rosa could have just as easily been in the big finish bargain bin for 2 pound fifty (which i would definitely not pay for)

>Not wrong, but TWWFTE is too shit even for Big Finish

>Let's be real. The past four episodes would be too trad and bland even for a Big Finish boxset entirely written by Matt Fitton.

And I feel if I tried to counter this with facts, I'd be called a stupid pleb, and no one would really disagree?

>I don't think anyone considers you stupid for liking it, people want different things out of the show,

I feel like you're correct, but that "different things" comment…it makes me feel like "12's era had good writing, but 13's era doesn't–but it's ok if you like different (aka, plebby) things!" That may be just how i'm taking it, tho, and I'm kinda just ranting here anyway.

It's like being in a "12's era had Bad Writing!" forum when you're a S8 fan–eventually the consensus gets to ya.

Shut the fark up Immigrant.

All kidding aside, just because your opinion is in the minority doesn't make it wrong or less valued. As someone who is completely underwhelmed with Series 11, I still enjoy reading your posts because I find it interesting how someone can view the episode in a completely different light from me. I'd like it if you stuck around, if only so this place doesn't feel always so completely bleak and negative. However I'd understand if you'd feel a bit burnt by how critical we are here, but the fact of the matter is that for a lot of us series 11 is a major let down.

No, she recorded about one scene of ep 2 then stopped.

Damn, we're well and truly fucked. For all the homos and minorities we have here you'd think we can scrounge up one fucking female.

skelly could do a girl voice!

I want skelly's literal capuchin monkey to play Nirvi

>but it's ok if you like different (aka, plebby) things!

Yeah i understand why you would feel that way, i feel like once chibnall properly settles in that'll die down, especially after the shock from the changes stop.

That's really good to hear, anon. I wasn't sure if people liked my takes on the ep, or if i seemed like an annoying pollyanna to people. desu I've considering leaving /who/ for the duration of S11.

I understand that a lot of /who/ is critical. I'm sorry you all are, but this is definitely different from 12's era. I'm not as pessimistic on the direction (for one, i do think Chibnall actually has a direction), but I do see some of the faults (Yaz's slow revealing of character.) I'm looking forward to the next stretch of eps.

If Obverse really wanted Faction Paradox to sell as well as their Black Archive books, couldn't they get one of their writers to write the most newbie-friendly FP book possible? Something that teenagers who haven't even watched an episode of Doctor Who could understand? Because even the standalone FP books require so much foreknowledge, like how Against Nature was steeped in so much Mexica mythology that even Purser-Hallard was intimidated by it.

>And I name you… the bonus!

Was this a reference to Yaphet Kotto's character in Alien?

S11E05 - E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Pting)

I honestly think you'd be really good as a podcast guest

>i feel like once chibnall properly settles in that'll die down, especially after the shock from the changes stop.

I agree. I feel the "one long story" thing with 13's first 4 eps means that it's taken a while to get used to this new style.

I mean, the ability to go wild with FP is part of the appeal for writers. And a lot of FP is lore-light already, especially the anthologies. It sounds like you want "dumbed-down" FP, which could work, if done carefully.

Thanks. Won't work right now in my life, tho.

We keep driving our women users away. First Granddaughter, now McGanon.

yeah exactly, i'm honestly still holding out a bit of hope for here on out, this is the first time we have an actual break in format and we might actual get to see what a normal episode in this era will be like.

>It sounds like you want "dumbed-down" FP, which could work, if done carefully.

I don't want a dumbed-down FP, but after hearing rumors that Obverse might stop publishing Faction books due to low sales, it might have to be a necessity to make a more mainstream FP book once in a while if they want to keep making the wild ones.

I like how 13 had her own "enter the TARDIS" moment in Episode 2, and then the companions had their own "entering the TARDIS" moment in Ep 4, symbolizing that they were now true companions.

But that also means it took Ep 4 for the series to truly start.

Yeah, they probably should. A primer book that isn't a whole encyclopedia could help.

The 3D was great, one of the better deployments of it I've ever seen. Really creative way to add depth to the paintings, and nicely layered and understated in all other scenes.

Broken actually had the Scorchies, briefly.

>because we all know that it's not true.

It is demonstrably true though, especially in the "he never used guns!" conception of the War Dotor Moff came around to. It's the same thing Davros pointed outin the S4 finale and we've seen decades of Doctor Who cover, the way he manipulates others to fight for him.

Oh fuck off mate, implying I would do that.

My mum is a boomer who's been watching since Tom in the 70s, mostly very similar opinions to me although she likes 6 less and 11 more. I have comfy memories of us renting out Classic VHS to watch, before NewWho even started. She's not as much into the audios as me, though she likes some, and is more into the non DW BF than me. We were both similarly taken with Capaldi's era and similarly frustrated with series 11. Had a good phone chat with her hashing out Arachnids yesterday.

Apart from that I've some aunts/uncles/cousins with milder interests in the show that are enjoyable to discuss it with now and again.

why are episode trailers so fucking short now

because they don't want to give away any spoilers! think of all the moments in every episode that would be ruined if you knew what was going to happen beforehand!

>It is demonstrably true though

despite it being reverted, does the memory of killing both daleks and time lords alike with the push of a button not count as getting his hands dirty?

I like that honestly, for >>135811 reason, but wish they'd just do away with them altogether.

It's not like he personally throttled any Gallifreyan kids, I think using a doomsday device from afar could arguably play into it. Danny's point isn't that 12 has never killed anyone or anything, it's that he's the type of person to play with other people's lives.

Dr Who stories that have actual perception filters around them

>The Awakening

What an ironic fucking title

I'd like to be the catalyst for a certain /who/re's "Awakening" if you know what I mean.

I do know what you mean, and I love it.

>All you have are opinions, same as anyone else here.

Good point (when i said 'facts', I should have said "using evidence from the ep to back up my opinions"). But I feel had I said "S11 is factually shit", no one would stop me.

From what I've heard from people who might know, BBC is trying to honestly keep S11 under wraps. Same reason it took so long to get S11 NSA book summaries on Amazon.

>Davros pointed outin the S4 finale and we've seen decades of Doctor Who cover, the way he manipulates others to fight for him.

Davros's, and Danny's, complaint ignores the agency of the Doctor's companions–Clara, for one, really likes being an adventurer; as does most of the Doctor's companions, and when they wish to go, he doesn't stop them.

>especially in the "he never used guns!" conception of the War Dotor Moff came around to

The War Doctor was definitely in the fray of battle though.

>He's a fractal, like much of what works in S8/S9.

I like Giga's 12th Dr. opinions.

Even though I've seen it, I'm still not 100% sure The Idiot's Lantern is a real episode.

None of them.

the bike scenes

the spaceships

drumpf's performance

Woman - Description of regeneration from the Doctor

Monument - Where's the reload

Rosa - The directness of the scenes where the companions experienced racism

Arachnids - Graham and the spider sharing a moment in the hall

space race is a GOAT idea

Time Warrior - Lynx's characterisation

Invasion of the Dinosaurs - Mike's betrayal

Death to the Daleks - The sheer trainwreckality of it all. The bizzare sax score, the target practice TARDIS, the absurdity of Belal, and "Stop, don't move."

The Monster of Peladon - the feminism moment

Planet of the Spiders - The comfiness with which it wraps up and summarises the era (Jo's story, the crystal, the chase) while also challenging and building on it (the Buddhism and themes of ego/rebirth which would greatly inform regenerations yet to come)

Remembe when Gatiss was rumoured to be playing Kanpo in TUAT lol

Yaz's family really were comfy, eh?

>Monument - Where's the reload

"Where's the reload" and the "Ryan jamming to Stormzy to fight spiders" is those times when Chibnall Who mixes its modern approach to do something that its predecessors couldn't.

>"Woman - Description of regeneration from the Doctor"

That was awesome.

>13 confronting krasko in the warehouse

One of the best 13 scenes so far.

> the bike scenes

13 watching Ryan on the bike from afar is one of my fave images from the ep. You can imagine that scene being where 13 begins to think he might make a good companion.

>drumpf's performance

The Drumpf-parody as pseudo-companion who ends up doing an Adam at the end is an interesting choice, and he was performed very well.

>Aside that I specifically liked Grahams reaction to knowing he's about to be part of history. I also liked the stuff with the police officer in the motel.

Graham being forced to stay out of the story was a great choice. 13's resolute "Stop" was a great moment for her.

>I also liked the stuff with the police officer in the motel.

He's filmed like a monster, and 13 "i know no one who fits that description" was a great moment.

Be nice to Hinchcliffe. Because he's the only living Classic Who producer.

Be nice to Hinchcliffe. Because he's your grandson.

>lens distortion

how the fuck did they keep that in view? Were they just desperate for any added definition before upscaling?

Be nice to your grandson. Because he's a good boy.

Remember when 13 sonicked a door offscreen

Be nice to Kinda. Because he's gaming.

kek when did the whole "[new female character] is the Rani!" thing stop? Was it when Missy ended up being the Master? I feel like the people who were always theorizing about the Rani coming back were just like "eh good enough" at that reveal and moved on

the door… was abstract!

Kick Kino Away TM

Just think back two series ago to the groundbreaking door representation in Heaven Sent.

There hasn't been a mysterious female character since missy

maybe ashildr prior to S9 airing?

it never stopped, yaz is also the rani

3? What are you talking about? I was talking about Season 12. Season 11 sure was a bust though. Introducing this new female character clearly meant to push an agenda. A plodding first story where the Doctor has to stop a warrior alien. A story where monsters from the past come to horrify our companions of the present. A dull adventure set on a barren, rocky planet. It's all such a shame, especially after Season 10 had the return of the First Doctor, a tearful farewell to a companion who was almost like a student to the Doctor, and a surprise end to the Master.

Unfortunately 3 never got a season 12.

Yeah he left because everyone else was leaving and Roger died.

Be nice to that kino. Because someone could kick it away.

classic who? more like classic who the bloody hell watches that rubbish!

Capuchin monkey… you just went viral!

We can't fairly judge until we actually see the first episo-,

uhh well before we judge we have to see the second episo-

uhh, the third episo-,

uhh maybe the fourth episo-

Surely we can't really judge until the FIFTH episode =)

Death to the Daleks truly is terrible, more so than the infamously bad episodes like Twin Dilemma and Fear Her

Classic Who? More like Spastic Who.

And it's wonderful.

we actually can't judge it until the whole series is over, at which point we will have seen a moderate sample of what doctor who is like when written by people other than chibnall

Ah of course, we need TEN episodes before we can fairly judge =) Hm, maybe that won't be enough either, and it will really take a second series before we can judge!

The best episode from the classic era is Parting of the Ways

I think Ep 5 onward will be the real time to judge. From Eps 5-8. Like Kinda hinted earlier, the structure of this series is slower-moving than part ones.

I’ve watched this episode and never realised but In the episode the doctor impersonates a government official and the guy says “whys there so much swearing”. This is a nod to capaldis role as Malcom tucker , a hot headed, swearing government official.

You would know.

Actually 7 is the Redditest Doctor.

I can definitely take your word for it!

I predict that the glee with which Yaz kicks kino away will mark her most likeable moment as a character.

Favorite Yaz moment so far?

will the set lit up red count as the first time in S11 a shot has been dominated by a color besides orange or teal?

Least favourite Yaz moment so far?

that time she talked to graham… oh wait!

what are the yaz moments?

graham talked to her to say he wouldn't go to her apartment

When Ryan tells her he gets harassed by the police more than white people and she shuts him down.

when she says rosa parks inspired her to become a police officer

Reminder that Kinda thought the shit near Bradley's temples was hair

we're almost halfway through the series and 2 of the companions have not interacted with each other in any meaningful way

Go easy on Kinda, he's more used to vidya polygonal models than irl people's hair

imagine if by the finale graham and yaz still hardly know each other

>we're almost halfway through the series

No no no, that's not fair kitty, we have to wait for TEN episodes before judging =)

I was excited for three companions because I thought Chibnall would do something interesting to justify it but now I wish Yasmin was gone so we could focus on Ryan and Graham.

reminder: next episode will probably reveal to us whether 13 is intentionally a hypocrite forcing her morality on everyone or if chib is just not really paying attention, so keep an eye out

And if not then, there's always the next episode! =)

Neo. It's been too long since you made fun of me for being reddit or whoring for (you)s.

Toe the line, kino isn't always on time

I sometimes do both

monka fucking S

it's definitely up there but clank segments kill the flow on replays

full frontal assault had a genuinely good multiplayer mode that died way too soon

UYA is overrated, im a going comando chad

>big finish is such bland hot garbage that it is essentially put on as white noise in the background as you focus your attention on something far more interesting like vidya

I don’t find big finish or video games engaging enough so I do both at the same time to get through them

Why do either then

>Kinda's a Going Commandolt

You fucking would be, mate.

I am going to write a Corsair story for the next iteration of Shit Trips.

So I can infosorb as much material as possible

Why do you want to do that

I listen to big finish while driving then completely wipe them from my memory once the engine shuts off

Because there are some big finish stories I like enough to stop and focus on but I have no guarantee when I go into one that it’ll be like that. And the game is usually grinding that is fun enough when youre not paying full attention

I dunno, makes me feel knowledgeable so I can hold my own in discussions about such media. Can feel superior knowing I've consumed more than other people and am thus more "dedicated" to the franchises

Why do you want to feel and/or be seen as more dedicated to franchises

That makes sense

embarrassing really

I don't know if im just mixing memories but the bergeaud soundtracks remind me so much of marigold, especially series 9 marigold

>calls todano todana

oh no no no no

kindas a ratchet hoe

>tfw R&C is pretty much dead since Insomniac will want to continue with Spiderman games forever since it made an embarrassing amount of money

Kinda and Skelly are fighting over Ratchet right now but by the end of the day, Kinda's gonna come over to Skelly's house and make his metal bedframe go clank clank clank

Ratchet ps4 was really successful, i doubt they'd take the risk of over saturating spidey while ratchet can still make them a great deal of cash. Before spiderman came out Ratchet ps4 was their fastest selling game

wouldn't surprise me if a new one gets announced next E3, they've been delegating it to the B-team ever since ACIT so it's not like they would be focusing all their resources on it

Size Matters is underrated. It's a perfectly entertaining and functional handheld R&C game. I really enjoyed the armor system.

I unironically can't get the image of Kris Marshall as the Corsair out of my head when thinking about the character so I'm just going to have to adapt to it

File: f25354a163bd9f4⋯.jpg (37.04 KB, 600x450, 4:3, Snowbeast_award.jpg)

the snowbeast award is given to the worst element of a game that makes it into the final released product. It is named after the snowbeasts near the end of Going Commando, which were notoriously considered unfair and too difficult due to that level being quickly coded in one day since they were behind schedule.

what would get the snowbeast award in each nuwho series?

Why is he so obsessed with Timtams? He’s been constantly tweeting about them for daus

Secret Agent Clank, however, was pure garbo.

Series 10's snow beast award goes to 12's prank regeneration on Bill

it was the RTD of the ratchet series and i still like the RTD era.

SM/SAC aren't canon

I've enjoyed every episode so far. The only one I'm not looking forward to is tonights and I'll probably find something I like in it. The rest of the series seems promising and I'm interested in how Chib pulls off a Who finale

If they made a new game, I wonder what direction they will go. Will they keep the reboot as the new canon and start making new games moving forward from that? Will they just straight up remake Commando and UYA next? I'm not sure where I'd want it to go. I quite enjoyed Into the Nexus AND the remake

I think the remake works better as a one-off movie tie in rather than a full universe reboot. ITN worked as an epilogue to the future series but there's no reason more new stories can't be told in the original canon. I'd prefer they did that rather than starting over. Doing an equivalent remake of GC or UYA would be interesting, but I think I'd still rather see something wholly new

This gamer talk is embarassing

as long as theres no movie tie in im fine, i'd be completely happy with a 2 and 3 remake provided they actually kept the late-capitalistic comedy and fixed the relationship between the duo to be more push and pull rather than soul mates from the get go.

Wow Nilso!!!! Congrats on making it to the front page of Reddit! This has been a long time coming and we're all very proud of you!

what's going on with all the symbols next to their name? does reddit have more buyable things than gold now?

Yeah, they have Reddit Silver which is cheaper and Reddit Platinum which is more expensive.

What is Reddit gold? So someone pays money to put an icon on a message but where does the money go, to the person that gets the gold or Reddit the company?

The money goes to Reddit and the recipient gets a bunch of useless perks. It's a little known fact but gold also acts as a mega-upvote in Reddit's sorting algorithm.

John Barrowman really loves sucking liquid out of things.

what impact do you think the fact series 9 is mostly 2 parters had on the ratings? surely 2nd parts of 2 parters get less viewers on average right?

There's probably a case to be made that if someone wasn't interested in the first part they wouldn't care to watch the next week

But going by the figures they actually largely stayed the same between parts (with the exception of the opener/finale)

I won't go out and say its perfect because its not. But its far from outright awful in my opinion. Each episode has had bits I'd have done differently but the bits I've enjoyed have either outweighed or balanced out with the bits I didn't like.

Invite me onto the podcast so I can review the new slipknot song and compare it to the new dr who

>last christmas

>magicians apprentice 2 parter

>girl who died/woman who lived

>hell bent

>husbands of river song

>the doctor falls

>twice upon a time

what do all of these episodes have in common other than the fact they are written by Steven Moffat?

They have a twist

Why wouldn't they? They talk and gurgle and shit, and as for the forgetting scenes, just have the characters react in horror, play that 'swoosh' sound to illustrate them looking away, and then have them continue about their business. They're not an entirely visual monster in the way that, say, the Angels and Vashda Nerada are, both of which were actually done pretty well by previous CDNM box sets.

What connects these characters?;

>Ian Chesterton

>Captain Jack Harkness

>The Doctor

>The Master (specifically Missy)

(Hint: they're in order)

How likely they'll be treated well by Big Finish.

Reddit the company gets the money. The recipient gets a badge and an invite into r/lounge, which is a garbage forum even by Reddit standards. A few of the perks are decently useful though, or rather would be useful if Reddit weren't utter trash.

Not the answer I had in mind, but probably correct desu

imagine doctor who trying to be this relevant

They're all about cheating death in some way, finding a way to prolong life beyond it's natural means, finding life after death or partaking in a fake reality where death doesn't matter or giving yourself a bit of extra time alive.

They're all positive, hopeful views of mortality that people desperately wish were possible/true.

>omitting Time of the Doctor, an episode where the Doctor literally runs out of life and then GETS MORE LIFE

I had it there originally but that plot line wasn't human enough for me to include it (in hindsight magician should be removed for the same reason). The others are all things humans would find very enticing and relate-able to their own mortality, getting a few extra new lives on top of your previous 12 however isn't very relate-able for humans

Adam ruins gender

So, if I remember rightly, Dr and Martha zapped back to 1969 (?) and The Dr gives a message to the black police officer and also leaves the Easter eggs in the DVD’s. So far, so good. But was it answered as to what actually happened to them, as they lived their lives through the ‘70s, (pertwee and baker years), 80s (Davison, Baker et al) etc. Why wasn’t The Doctor still around when the story came up to date? Did they die? Manage to get off planet and go retire somewhere? By my thinking, (perhaps too much now), this alt-doc is still out there, somewhere.
