Compare this 10 second trailer from Series 10.

>action, stakes, you understand something big is going to happen, scary monster, THINGS HAPPENING

To Series 11's.

>people talking, sparks, close up on faces, EXPOSITION

Fuck you Chibnall you utter fraud.

Fuck Pete.

Anyone have a pdf of Vanderdeken's Children? Mine has the last few pages missing.

Reminder that Kerblam! is an instant classic and McTighe saved Doctor Who, also The Pilot is fucking wank into the fucking bin it goes. Oxygen is snoozeworthy and not nearly as much fun as Kerblam!

You're a perfect example of the audience JNT was pursuing when he drove the show into the ground.

Lee Mack's character was the best part of Kerblam! That bit with Yaz and the necklace at the end was really sweet

Why? Because I like good episodes?

>all white guest cast

>no lesbians

Kerblam was a fun runaround but the ending was just bad. I didn't mind the twist that the villain wasn't actually the sketchy company, but after the twist the episode seemed to forget that it spent the first 40 minutes establishing that the company sucked. And also decided that more people working menial jobs that could be done by robots was somehow a good thing.

(Also the "benevolent" AI killed someone just to prove a point, why wasn't the doctor mad about this?)

Personal ranking of main cast/guest star/important characters so far

you've convinced me to like the pilot even more

god people standards have dropped so low if kerblam passes as a good episode, let alone better than the best of capaldis.

why do you do this to yourself?

>Lee Mack

>Salad Man

>not in GOAT tier

I'm with you. Where did all this love for The Pilot come from? Sure, it's top tier comfy, but it's pretty vapid otherwise, not that it needed to aspire to much more.

the pilot>>>>>eleventh hour

nilso, did you actually make this?

i want yaz light brown pusy

God knows

Yeah it only took a few minutes

It's themed around customer service.

I seem to have started this. I never said it was amazing. Anon said Kerblam was better than Series 10 aside from the 2 part finale. I just said I felt the pilot was better than kerblam.

Is "I think the pilot is better than kerblam" really such a controversial statement? Am I just off my rocker?

>it was good but the ending was bad

Why not just cut to the chase and say you were verged and can't accept the GOATness that is Kerblam!?

Shane Zaza couldn't even act, why is he up top? So atrocious.

It's as good if not better than Time Heist or Flatline, people are just too verged to accept it.

I thought he did a really good job.

>implying Time Heist and Flatline are on the same level

the pilot was literally kino

don't make me make another kinograph you plebs

it's probably darker brown than the rest of her.

I wouldn't even remember half of those characters tbqh. Series 11 isn't even really bad, I'm just finding it hard to care that much

I wouldn't go that far, but I think there's an argument to be made that The Pilot is the comfier episode. Especially that moment where Bill tells the doctor she has no photos of her mum, and comes home to photos of her mum. really sweet

THIS. What people arguing over whether this episode was right or wrong to portray a company as good are missing the point company clearly WAS established as malevolent, but then the writer seemed to forget what he was writing towards the end. It’s bizzare.

I did a smaller version with the characters from the Coming Soon trailer but I thought it could do with some fleshing out so I checked the wiki page for s11 and picked who was and who wasn't relevant

have a nap

Fair enough.

>if I arrange frames it makes the episode good even if you dislike it

the state of you

Yeah, I have no idea why anon would make such a hyperbolic statement. Oxygen, Extremis, and WEaT/TDF are all basically undisputablely better than it.

On the other hand, I can imagine rewatching Kerblam! before Smile, Thin Ice, Knock Knock, and the latter two thirds of the Monk Trilogy at the very least, not that I'm chomping at the bit to do so.

File: 026c0df87b9017e⋯.jpg (182.92 KB, 600x600, 1:1, dwmr202_thewarehouse_1417_….jpg)

Fuck Pete.

Fucking hell I'm so gay

I wonder if the original idea was just "evil space Amazon" and they added the twist to make it more interesting but didn't bother to change the rest of the script to accommodate it.

Yeah Series 10 has some really mediocre eps, and Kerblam is definitely better than some. But I thought people really liked the pilot. I do anyway, I think it's cute. I tend to rewatch comfy eps.

how much?

fuck capitalism

Someone make a kinograph of the Pilot now.

smile was kino though

Reminder that Pete has a GB account and last posted in September.

Kino episodes in Series 10:

>The Pilot

>World Enough and Time

>The Doctor Falls

Kino episodes in Series 11:

>Twice Upon A Time

Based and redpilled.

Pls no

>worker uses system to try and commit mass murder

>solution: hire more workers

No, people are verged that an episode dare have anything other than a far-left conclusion where the workers all end up owning the warehouse or something.

How is that hyperbolic? Kerblam! is better than Oxygen and Extremis in my opinion. I think Oxygen is boring and I hate the Monks trilogy. It's not like either of those episodes are universally beloved like Midnight, Listen, Dalek etc.

>Twice Upon A Time

more like pretend to do it and give scraps to the union

That does seem very possible. It certainly seems like there’s a completely different story somewhere in there.

Post your face when you realize the best episode in Series 11 is likely to be written by Moffat who has left the show after one episode.

Here's your (You).

based af

You do realize that the Monk Trilogy isn't a three parter right? You can talk about the three episodes in isolation. Do you unironically like Kerblam! better than Extremis?

Lol boomer

remember in the ghost monument when the three companions went to an alien planet for the first time and they acted like it was a normal day? you could change the order of the episodes in series 11, and aside from the beginning/ending the episode would literally work anywhere.

>btw, you’re the verged ones

The absolute state of you.

>a far-left conclusion where the workers all end up owning the warehouse

>implying that would be a bad thing

it is a bad thing

literally none

>if I disagree with your opinions it must be bait

The absolute state of you

Monks Trilogy is 100% a three parter, it was only in the concept phase that they were going to be linked standalones before they decided to make a three parter. And yes I do like Kerblam! more than Extremis by a very wide margin, I found the Monks Trilogy to be completely limp and bland (I did like the cliffhanger where the Doctor reveals he agrees with the monks but overall just not compelling enough to justify three episodes.)

Is this real? The retweet I mean, obviously the tweet’s bullshit.

Already told you multiple times that there's gaps between The Ghost Monument, Rosa and Arachnids.

why do they change clothes in between TGM and Rosa

Yeah it's real

It absolutely is. They were conceived in tandem as a tribute to The Daleks Masterplan for the 10th anniversary.

File: 9849ed8ea104863⋯.png (474.36 KB, 893x517, 19:11, 372e09ca51d76bc2591ecb6ca9….png)

RTD did it better but Chibnall is just attempting to copy RTD's style because it was successful.

Poor, poor Colin.

Big Finish need to start paying more

they change clothes and shit like that, but Ghost Monument is their first planet, Rosa is explicitly the first place they go after Ghost Monument, and they explicitly dont go anywhere between Rosa and Arachnids. No Big Finish Gaps inbetween.

Tennant changes suit like 3 times in his final story, so I'm not counting clothes changes

I dont actually think it's one story you mongs, it's just a meme. but they are consecutive.

Graham says that they tried to land 13 times before they arrive in Montgomery, accept it already

I love Kerblam! I think The Pilot is dreadful apart from the comfy Doctor professor scenes. The first episode being about lesbianism was a completely "look at me" choice on Moffat's part and it didn't pay off.

I made you what you are.

back to /pol/ m8

Just stop replying, he's suffering from autism.

I don't think you know what this word means, especially since Graham says she's attempted to get them back to Sheffield multiple times in Rosa, and that could mean anything from fucking around in the TARDIS to six offscreen adventures.

still consecutive. A short scene between eps is fine. the show sometimes starts the second ep of a 2 parter months later (Day of the Moon, Lie of the Land, to give 2 examples off the top of my head). this is more continuous than many 2 parters

oh. well, I guess I didn't consider them having offscreen adventures. I just assumed they kept arriving and leaving. So you're right, it's not 100% explicit. I still stand by the continuity between eps though.

I think she's got a point, but the Doctor was a rare example of a male hero-character who isn't overly toxic, or obsessed with masculinity. Peter Davison made an excellent point about that. Especially in the 80s, when many action heroes had a toxicity to them I think. Some people keep boiling it down to a simple issue, but it's not.

That's crazy, for some reason I thought it was a whole of 4chan thing. Great word though

they tried

They physically tried to but the Doctor and Co stopped them before they had the chance to rearrange Charlie's neck into a balloon animal

They tried

It's ironic that the Kerblam! androids were known colloquially as "The Kerblam! Man" by the people they visited because if Charlie's plan had worked they'd have been the "Men" who Kerblammed

Why would that be a bad thing? I thought a variety of voices was a good thing?

The system tried, Julie had to twist the delivery bots neck off to stop them finishing him off.

Thirteen crushing on a nineteen year old boy would unironically be a great episode/arc and I would thoroughly enjoy it.

Of course. Some people will complain about anything.

Curse is really well shot so that's an added benefit. A lot of the time extra attention was taken while shooting the stories in order to hide their less than stellar sets. Kinographs are all a load of baloney anyway because it's just being picky

File: 3f6a9fa93334e6b⋯.gif (6.08 MB, 600x1067, 600:1067, HoUwFYB - Imgur.gif)

/doctorwho/ hates Kerblam! because they are homophobic. They'd rather the whole show be written by straight white men like RTD and Streven Moffat. This is exactly the kind of anti-gay rhetoric that got Ecclestone kicked off the show.

>Kinographs are all a load of baloney anyway because it's just being picky

I'm of the opinion that Kinographs are kind of useless, because taking screenshots out of context doesn't really help with anything. They're not an indicator of good cinematography, an episode could look visibly not pretty at all and have amazing cinematography because of what it communicates…. (I've never studied this stuff, so I'm not an expert or anything, just my perspective)

All that said I really like kinographs because they're pretty. I made the Hell Bent one, and I'm making another one. I think no one should take them too seriously, it's just an indicator of.. "ooh, I like these shots, they're very pretty, would make a nice wallpaper for someone"

this but unironically

People can be very mean about this stuff. If I was Steven Moffat, I'd feel pretty upset about some of the stuff said about me. I can be kind of thin-skinned though, I don't wanna be hurt by that kind of stuff, but I know I often can be. I think it's nice that his partner filtered out some of the hate. I think there's a difference between criticism of an episode and twitter hate, you know?

>Reading kablam as having a a focused political message.

it didn't and that's the problem

This review really summarizes my issues with Kerblam!: https://them0vieblog.com/2018/11/19/doctor-who-kerblam-review/

>The idea is that the system was trying to save lives, to prevent Charlie’s murderous intent. Except the system still murdered Kira. It did not lock her in a box and wait for the Doctor to show up. It did not send her a box with a printed message. It did not even fake her death. It did not even target Charlie itself. It killed an innocent woman to send a message. That is monstrous and horrific.

I also liked the review's pointing out how Twirly the robot was actually showing a possible better way for the ep to go.

Why didn't they try earlier?

>Why didn't they try earlier?

it is said the system had to focus power of all bots in just one to be able to tackle him

I do like that stuff. Just watched the Legacies show–it's surprisingly good so far.

So, the robots could set up Kira's death meticulously, but couldn't find a way to kill Charlie?

she popped the bubble by herself

I've been interpreting it as the only reason the System "saved" anyone was because it wanted to prevent the backlash had Charlies plans went through, they only did it to save their own backsides. however the episode doesnt acknowledge this at all despite all the evidence for it and the doctor plays it off like the fucking robots are virtuous

They couldn't get him to fall down a high ledge? Or fall down the dispatch passageway? Or get written up for infractions, or "accidentally" lost, or…

Nice baps but she should shut the fuck up with that woe is me bullshit. I want to see any of these women live one week as an average man and see how much they enjoy being seen as a sexless wageslave.

Already tried to kill Charlie and the Doctor stopped them. Kira is dead because of the Doctor. Kerblam! is VNA level dark.

Exactly. The robots wanted to avoid damage to Kerblam, but apparently had no problem killing someone off to save the company. That's not a bad twist, but 13 never calls them out. It's bizarre.

The absolute state of this thread

Series 11 had redeemable elements so far (Yaz, Ryan's gags, Arachnids in the U.K, Pting etc.) and we just had a brilliant episode. So yes I am defending Series 11 especially since we have four episodes yet to come.

Because it was a really good episode for once in Series 11. Should've been a moment of celebration, was ruined by autistic commie nitpicking.

>>I'm trying to imagine the answer to the question, but I can't quite see the solution

>Still shocked this is an actual line of dialogue.

Thing is, it actually wasn't. In the episode 13 says "but I can't quite see the solution" first, and later on in a separate sentence she says "I'm trying to imagine the answer to the question".

So that means that somebody intentionally spliced those lines together and thought it made for a good dramatic trailer moment. Even thought it's obnoxiously wordy and goes out of its way to soften whatever dramatic impact it could have had.

>I keep trying, but I don't know what to do

something simple like that would have worked so much better

>Posting something vague like this in the hopes that both sides f the debate will think you’re taking about the other side so you won’t get shit for it

Nilso is Sesska. It all makes sense now.

Do not blaspheme the Slitheen!

the slitheen are audience hostile kino (not intentionally, but introduce anyone to the show in 2018 and they usually hate the slitheen, making them retroactively audience hostile. I think 2005 audiences already saw Doctor Who as a kiddie's show of yesteryear, and when they saw the slitheen eps probably were less critical)

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

The episode wasn't trying to say something about capitalism/automation/amazon. It merely used those concepts to tell a story. It does not convey a moral message, it just presents a scenario. Obviously people can read politics into it, but that wasn't intended.

OK but what are your thoughts on the Slitheen?

are they any good?

Offers are for Commies

I think even in 2005, people saw the Slitheen as "those stupid fart monsters between the creepy ghosts and the Dalek". That's why they never make a major appearance in NuWho after Series 1, and get demoted to SJA.

Blood Cell is GOAT. Deep Time's good. Big Bang Generation is utter shite.

but yeah, I get what you mean. I can't really be an authority on the 2005 audience because i was 7 at the time. I do wonder if they were what RTD was hoping for. I like to think of them as a parody of some of the shit alien designs, especially of 80s Who, given the rubbery look… idk if that's intentional though

You know as well as I do that kerblam does not have a coherent message regarding anything. Pete wasn't trying to make one.

It's a shame Loz is a literal manchild who would rather shove LEGOs up his anus than write another Doctor Who book (or any book for that matter), because a 12/Clara book by him would be beautiful.

It might have meant Series 10

I agree that the message was not coherent.

I don't like Loz anymore, he is a commie

What that got to do with the Slitheen?

Normal people aren't verged by Amazon/Ebay, so Pete didn't think it was a controversial thing to draw inspiration from.

Slitheen are great villains though.

The system of automation. Nothing to do with politics!

Wtf I love Loz now

Pete is the new Harness. Something about Peters and poorly executed political messages.

"But Doc, it just murdered Kira."

the slitheen used and exploited the system to take control of downing street until the doctor stopped them

the slitheen exploited a pig's nervous system and made it scehhhred

Loz isn't a real commie. He supports the capitalist hegemony known as LEGO.

The Doctor can't really judge anyone for that type of murder. She murders people all the time

>Chib didn't call Mathieson to write an episode

Chibnall ain't a dumb commie

God bless the series 8 costume department. Imagine Clara being your teacher, right as you were hitting puberty. I wouldn't have focused at all. I'd have completely failed the class. I'd have had to repeat English. I had to repeat English GCSE in real life as well, but that's beside the point

The fact that the episode ends with "we're going to hire more humans" without addressing pay or living conditions shows that pete clearly did not think through the moral dimension of the issues he chose to present. Or the economic issues, since how is a company meant to stay afloat when fully automated companies are much cheaper to run and more efficient, and ultimately more competitive? Or what about how the episode outright says that robots should be doing monotonous labor?

There are two conclusions that could be drawn

-Pete is a mouthbreather who tried to make a political episode but isn't able to form a coherent point, instead just connecting random ideas together and assuming they must all fit

-Pete did not care about presenting a coherent moral message, he just wanted to tell a story about automation in the future with space amazon. He drew from both positive and negative aspects of automation, as well as presenting the disregard for human needs of a late stage capitalistic company. He showed these things for what they were, and left it to the viewer to decide how they felt about that. There was no ongoing theme of "x good" or "x bad", just individual concepts presented independently of each other - automation, living away from family to work, oppressive management enforcing productivity, societal consequences of automation, "the system", etc.

every breast size is beautiful in it's own way, but she must be wearing push-up bras, right? It's Asylum of the Daleks, the minisode, and Face the Raven, where Clara seems a little more… gifted.

We would like to assure you that Jack was hired with no consideration whatsoever to his merits, and his entire existence is simply an act of crass virtue signalling.

What else is new?

They do but you only find it in casinos or inns that serve brunches. They're made in a different way, but with pretty much the same ingredients and measurements than standard. Those thick ones are made my whipping the egg whites into a froth, until they make peaks like a meringue. You fold your dry ingredients into the meringue. There's more air and thus more thick and fluffy.

Sandifer has to use "cishet male", because her team already has cis, het, and male, seperately. They just dont have that exact combination

I hate Kerblam now.

how did they make series 8 clara feel so much more mature than series 7 clara? I don't think she looks any different but the way the stories present her seems like the difference between a 20 year old and 30 year old.

Moffat was more involved

Costuming, acting, and the fact she has a different job. I think the fact that the Doctor and Clara stopped seeing each other as mysteries at the end of 7B accounts for their in-universe maturation.

she was playing off Capaldi rather than Smith? which isn't a slight against Smith, just that Capaldi was deliberately portrayed as more mature than he was

Being a teacher instead of a babysitter.

It could be this, however i feel like the shift started to happen in TOTD, i'd have to watch it again to be sure though.

there's also a noticable difference in Clara's portrayal from Series 7 to Day and Time of the Doctor

It was 100% intentional that he enjoyed flirting with her, which is why he apologizes for it when he becomes 12

>Clara I'm not your boyfriend

I think it isn't just acting, costumes, her job etc…. I think it's the way she's written. She comes off as more emotionally mature. Series 7 Clara seems naive, Series 8 is definitely written as a bit more grown up, more sure of herself and what she wants. Take the scene where Danny is banging his head against a table, and she mocks him playfully (from Into the Dalek)… She's playful in a different way there to she was before I think. I think it's Moffat writing her a bit more grown up.

I think a shift happens between Night and Day of the Doctor. I find it hard to put my finger on, but that might be it. It's a really noticable shift though, and I think it's both in the writing and how Jenna plays it.

Wasn't there something about the initial plan of victorian clara getting fucked about ?

I'd like to fuck Victorian Clara about if you know what I mean

kek. Certain directors come across as more leery than others. For instance, Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS has more full-body shots of Clara than pretty much any other ep. I don't know what that says about that particular director. Most shots in other episodes are waist-up clara. What a waste

Jenna tried out Samuel Anderson at one point, but went back to the Capaldick. It just proves that after going black some people still go back. But Capaldi is an absolute god, so that's not saying much.
