Chibnall broke the record he tied with Gatiss for the most consecutive episodes written without writing anything good (they both had 9) with The Tsuranga Conundrum. Presumably he'll bump that number up to 12 in a few weeks with The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos and The Chib Who Killed Christmas.

That being said, Mark Gatiss also wrote An Adventure in Space and Time which is so good that it automatically cancels out all the shit episodes he wrote. Plus he's a cool guy and we all like him.

 No.154577

out of curiosity, here's a ranking of some of the regular nuWho writers by number of episodes written

>Moffat (48, only 8 episodes behind Terry Nation and 16 episodes behind Robert Holmes)

>RTD (32)

>Chibnall (12 after the New Year's special, and 6 of them written in Series 11)

>Gatiss (10 including AAISAT)

dunno, but he only has 6 co-writing credits so even without those it's still 42 fucking episodes.

It also might be important to note that Moffat was super involved in doing edits and uncredited rewrites for pretty much every episode in his era, which (if my math is correct) would bring his total number to fucking 90 episodes

come to think of it, you'd think getting all the living Doctors (Bradley, Baker, Davison, Baker, McCoy, McGann, Hurt, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, and Capaldi) together for a photoshoot would've been a no-brainer for the BBC to do for the 50th. The regular convention ones would've shown up no matter what, Baker, Hurt, Tennant, and Smith were already filming the 50th (was Capaldi's scene shot when he was announced as the new Doctor? I've always wondered that since his sleeve looks similar to the jacket he wore to the announcement), and even if Eccleston turned down being in the special, he'd have no fucking excuse to turn down being in a historic group photo like that.

Kinda verged that this didn't happen. I guess there's still hope for the 60th but who knows which ones will still be around in 5 years… :(

Some are still in school! But I talk to teenagers all the time at work too and I think as far as conversation goes (specifically conversation, not other things) often the best thing you can do with them, in any context (work, familial, /who/, wherever) is to treat them as adults/equals. Teenagers are needlessly patronised and condescended to, constantly, in my opinion. Yes, their emotions run higher, their hormones run wilder, and they have less lived experience and maturity to process things through, but you can say the same for countless adults, it's needlessly biologically determinist to dismiss everything they say for those reasons, and how else are they meant to learn but to do as they do? Treat them as equals and more often than not I think they rise to it. Absolutely, as you say, that disconnect between how they're treated both as a child and an adult is a difficult thing. Best give them the benefit of the doubt I find.

I've been thinking about something, and stop me if I'm way off base here. Is 13 a product of Chibnall writing her as an ordinary human, but Jodie Whittaker playing 13 as a superhero? She is so exaggerated, and that sonic screwdriver arc thing seems like a hero pose, but Chibnall seems to be writing her as a regular person. Because Doctor Who is seen as childish in general and effeminate in particular, so there's a sense that only kids and girls watch it regularly. As a result, some /who/res are very insecure about their masculinity (for larger social reasons that we don't have room for here) and as a result can be either evasive or defensive when the topic of non-heteronormative, non-kyriarchial expression comes up.

And the rest of us are gay, or at least bi.

Yeah, it sounds more like Yates/Rowling not knowing how the casting would look to people than intentionally casting an Asian woman as a sneaky snake. Unless they decide to go "Tom Riddle was half-Asian on his father's side, Riddle was actually Ri-Doh before his father westernized the name".

I think it's beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was JK's idea. Yates is rehired so much because he's so easy to work with, read into that what you will.

>>155231

>Warner Brothers

I didn't say Warner Bros, I said Rowling. WB weren't involved with the 1998 novel. Having said all that, I don't think it's intentional. I think JK based the goblins on goblins and dwarves from other novels and fantasies. (Who also have big noses and are super greedy). I think by basing her goblins on LOTR dwarves and things like that, she accidentaly came up with something a bit anti-semitic.
