The flashcards were in Under The Lake, they had little stock phrases on them to help him interact with humans.

there was a post here a few days ago asking what we would do for our first series if we took over as showrunner and people seemed to like my ideas so I've been adding to my list since then, here's an updated version:

>cast Jason Flemyng as 14 (alternate casting: Cillian Murphy)

>companion is a young journalist who wants to do a story on the Doctor and he can't be bothered to sit and answer questions so he decides to take her along with him on his adventures to show her instead

>Cast Sean Harris as The Master (who is trying to "atone" for turning good as Missy by "making up for lost cruelty" in his words) or as The Valeyard idk

>Open invitation to writers/directors of the Moffat-era (plus RTD) as well as “new” writers who would be good fits for a one-of episode like Vince Gilligan, Charlie Brooker, Joss Whedon, etc.

>King Arthur episode (with Cybermen maybe?)

>Feudal Japan episode with Sea Devils

>Dalek two-parter that isn’t announced as a two-parter. The first episode is promoted as its own standalone thing with the Dalek presence kept a secret. There’s also only 1 Dalek, since they’re no longer scary when there’s a hundred CGI ones flying around all episode
>First part: “Mutually Assured Destruction” - Cold War-era episode where the Doctor discovers the United States has “found” a new weapon that they believe would help them defeat the Soviet Union: a Dalek. Cliffhanger ending leads into…

>”Exodus of the Daleks" - The Dalek escapes to the USSR with the intention of making the Soviets and Americans fire their nukes at each other, destroying the Earth and “terraforming” it into being the next Dalek homeworld. The Doctor tricks the Dalek into causing the Chernobyl disaster, destroying the Dalek averting its plans. Or something, idk about the details but the climax takes place in Chernobyl

(part 1 of 2)

No it wasn't, it was a ratings killer. No one wanted to see a Doctor who was rude and inconsiderate. They wanted a SHINING PILLAR OF HOPE.

(cont'd, part 2 of 2)

>Terracotta Army Weeping Angels episode set in the Qin Dynasty

>Christmas Special that's a semi-retelling of The Nutcracker

>another idea would be to combine the King Arthur episode with the Christmas episode and have a retelling of the Sword in the Stone with the Doctor in the role of Merlin

>*Another* Christmas Special idea would be to remake The Wizard of Oz with the Doctor as Dorothy, K9 as Toto, an Auton as the Scarecrow, a Cyberman (Handles 2.0?) as the Tinman, Drax as the Cowardly Lion, and Missy as the Wicked Witch
>Episode partially made in claymation (maybe get Aardman to do it)

>Episode that takes place over multiple time periods between 1963 and modern day where the sequences in each time period the Doctor/companion travel to are filmed like how episodes of Doctor Who would’ve looked that year (ie: ‘60s scene is black and white, mid-2000s is SD with that shitty bloom effect, modern day is HD, etc.)

that's all I have so far

No. Hilariously we never did it because Lym wanted to wait to binge the completed series for some reason, then Lym fucking left so it became a moot point anyway.

he is here by any other name

well, we ought to stream the second season sometime. hopefully it's as funny as the first

If others were to watch it I'd probably watch it as well but I'm almost certain that the humour we found in it initially won't be the same a second time around which is a shame because that initial viewing was hilarious. I am Laddoc had me wheezing

Reminder that Chibnall will never spontaneously come up with any lines better than ""I sometimes, I sometimes wonder if what I have just done is the best thing by far, but I don't even know if, I don't even know if even if I will survive this. If I don't survive this…everyfink is loss."

>tfw only 2 episodes of Series 11 left

>all hope of Chibnall pulling a reverse-nosedive like RTD did in the second halves of Series 3 and 4 is gone

>even if the next two episodes are somehow Moffat-level godtier, they'll just be outliers that don't redeem the series in anyway like Girl in the Fireplace and The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit

true. i think half the hilarity of it was just how unexpected it was. but might as well pop it on the stream some time

I liked that the Doctor addressed the fact that she would have an easier time in the past if she was still a man. I can't believe it took 8 episodes for the Doctor being a woman to have some relevance, though. Even if it was just a throwaway line. Chibnall's insistance on writing Thirteen to be completely genderless has always felt like it was defeating the point in casting a woman. If you're gonna go for it, fucking go for it.

I agree, and one of the reasons why I think Missy worked so well was because Moffat didn't try to just ignore the fact that the Master was a woman now and write the character the exact same as she was before

Moffat’s fetish is the doctor grooming small girls to fall in love with him and then returning when they’re legal

I like that we got to see the doctor face sexism and they finally made her being a woman relevant to the plot.

I don't like that they had so little faith in the audience to understand what they were witnessing that they had to lampshade it with shallow unsubtle dialogue like "becca wasn't kidding, these ARE hard times for women. If we're not being drowned, we're being patronised to death!"

More to the point, the scene where she and Graham had to roleplay as a reversed power dynamic was fucking funny. It's a great excuse to have the Doctor on the back foot for a bit rather than always lording it over everyone.

explain a little more

Did James ever act sexist towards Becca, or just the doctor?

Was done better in The Good Doctor.

That verged chat

>Becca wasn't kidding, these ARE hard times for women. If we're not being paid 10% less than men, we're being reported to the IRS!

This was a little on the nose

Eric Saward quit as script editor during the writing for Trial of a Time Lord because of Bonnie Langford being cast or something equally childish. He then went to do an interview with a fan magazine where he shittalked JNT and Colin. Pip and Jane recount that they saw JNT crying over lunch while reading the interview and they had to console him. Saward also hated Colin and kept him separate from the plot during the one 6 episode he wrote, only meeting Davros at the very end before the assassins defeat Davros. There’s one episode Colin doesn’t do a commentary for in era and Saward is on that commentary. Saward only did one other commentary and it was by himself for one episode of Trial in addition to the regular Trial commentary which included Colin.

>Pip and Jane recount that they saw JNT crying over lunch while reading the interview and they had to console him.

that actually makes me feel upset, man

>opens TARDIS to see new interior

>it's a barren default room because the circuits have glitched, TARDIS beeps sadly

>"Not to worry, we'll soon sort this out!"

>MAXIMUM COMFY montage of the Doctor decking out and styling the new interior with all sorts of kooky shit and furniture

no joke

explain me all about Ghost Like in few sentences

and how Ace was out of time

my mind is jumbled now

might be a bit too much for you, judy

Ghost light is about a guy trying to catalog all life in existence. He does this by having two subordinates who change into the dominant life on the planet. One is called Josiah and goes to the surface while the Control stays below and pure. While Josiah is above in the world he decides to mutiny and take over the British empire by killing the queen. Simple as

in which time period?

are about all the other people around and the robots?

how Ace knows the house?

12's console room, whilst not entirely fitting this description, was interesting because it had that sort of sharp-edged, functional design, but was offset by all the comfy stuff he added to it, and the choice of warmer lighting. compare it to when 11 was using the same interior, with the lighting and the lack of any personal effects; it came across a lot colder and less whimsical, which was sort of a reflection of 11's mindset at the time, at least when it was first introduced. though i'm fond of comfy console rooms (see: 8's), i think there's definitely something nice in a design that's not inherently comfy but little knick-knacks and signs of life that the doctor amasses over time end up making it comfy anyway. obligatory note about how 13's interior is visually unfortunate, and fails to capture any of that comfy spirit, or insight into the doctor's psyche, etc. etc.

It’s in the Victorian age. Josiah wants to kill Queen Victoria. The house is one that Ace burned to the ground in the modern day because she felt it was haunted. The servants are all human and there’s even a Neanderthal that Josiah collected when they first arrived on the planet.

A group of Eternals led by Light plan on cataloging every single life form to ever exist and arrive on Earth. Light goes into hibernation after picking up a Neanderthal and while he's asleep one of the Eternals who acts as the Survey (Josiah) rebels against Light. Redvers finds the stone spaceship in the late 1800's, brings it to Perivale and places it in the basement of a house where Josiah chooses to live but not before sending everyone in the house insane, making them subservient and killing Gwendoline's father. Redvers goes insane after seeing Light's true form and is locked up.

The Doctor arrives in order to get Ace to face her fears about the house (Ace burnt down the house in the 1980's after Neo Nazis burnt out her friends flat while feeling an alien evil). Josiah plans to use Redvers Fenn Cooper to get within shooting distance of the Queen and usurp the throne. Light ends up waking and is very angry to find out that his entire collection is useless since it's evolved since he catalogued it so he throws a tantrum and tries to destroy Earth in a fireball but The Doctor fucks with his mind and Light essentially commits suicide but not before leaving an imprint on the house (which causes Ace to burn it down in the 1980's

You might think they’re robots because they hide away during the day but that’s because Josiah is scared of his master Light and the daylight is too much for him to handle

the Doctor is also just inconsistant as fuck when it comes to flippant remarks like that. If it was something major about her character, like if she had a strict, and I mean fucking STRICT no guns rule (even moreso than she already has) and then two episodes later was waving a pistol around and shooting it at Ryan's feet to make him dance, that'd be inconsistancy

I agree with @Clowfish TV's assessment, there is nothing wrong with the actors Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker's acting ability. You can really see it at times, more so with Jodie Whittaker. The problem is with the writing. At least Jodie was able to do more with how she portrays her character than Peter was able to. In my opinion, if Jodie was given the same scripts as Matt Smith, she would have done a great job. I even think that the episodes that she was in would have been much better if they were written to the same quality as pre-Peter Capaldi episodes. I think that they finally got back to writing the Doctor Who character right, like they used to do previous to Peter, but the rest of the story is lacking the flair that the first 7 seasons had. To be fair, the way they wrote Matt Smith as Doctor Who wasn't always great, but the rest of the writing carried the story. In the mean time, I will continue to watch Doctor Who, hoping for the writing to get better. At least, this is my 2 cents.

>In fact the prevailing opinion I've seen is that Whitaker is good and Chibnall's writing is terrible.

I'm really enjoying Whittaker's take on the Doctor. In some ways, it reminds me of Tennant– mostly in some of the mannerisms and the utter joy of discovering things. The Companions have been growing on me as well. If anything, I'm just a little unexcited about the plots thus far. I don't mind the messaging or anything, I'm just sort of jonesing for some EPIC SHIT.

Granted, we're only like, 7 episodes into a new Doctor, so I'm tempering my expectations. I'm just saying, I love the Big "universe and all of time are the stakes" multi-part stories.

I wonder if someone tweeted this how many unironic retweets it'd get

Honestly Jodie Whittaker is fine… I think she hasn't had a chance to shine this season, but I don't think she's majorly fucked up. All the reddit users saying "The actor is good but the writing is bad" aren't completely off base this time.

It'd be like cutting out the farting scene from love and monsters

Yeah, the writing hasn't had a single moment to stop and show any actual depth for the character. Shallow writing begets shallow performances.

The actor is good but the writing is bad

I would say it's more like America removing the scene of Ian dancing to the beatles in the chase

Timeless Child resolved this season? If not Big Finish might steal it

that would be terrible, that's the best bit of the chase! (Aside from the cute montage at the end, before Ian and Barbara get married)

I imagine the Timeless Child is replacing the whole Time War arc. With Capaldi's era, the Doctor was still coming to terms with the Time War, even in Twice Upon a Time…. whereas now I think it's truly over and going to be largely forgotten by Chibnall

Are there any other good seamless gifs related to the show?

Looking back it's kind of crazy that in Planet of the Ood, we're supposed to be happy when the ood rise up and murder humans. It makes sense, but it's interesting that the humans are so much the villain

Jodie's acting strengths are mainly being childlike and being angry - so those scenes tend to be her best. Most "normal" scenes are full of strange acting choices, one of the most obvious being how she points the sonic like she's some melodramatic anime character

The Timeless Child is the Minister of War.

Humans have been the villain in majority of the episodes in S11

not all humans just chibnall

That's true, but I still dont think it would save the episode. From now on I'll always remember the Witchfinders as the one where Alan Cumming hams it up with an amazing accent

>13 tied up

Series 11 isn't bad actually

It wouldn't save it, but it would mean that the episode would still roughly maintain the same position in the S11 episode rankings

He single-handedly elevated it to the level of a weaker RTD era historical. This season is seriously lacking in the knowing camp that made the previous runs so enjoyable.

fair enough

honestly so true. Compare the racnoss lady to the stenza guy. The actress playing the racnoss is aware of how ridiculous such a thing is, and plays to it perfectly. The stenza actor is simultaneously too over the top to be taken seriously, but not over the top enough to really laugh at either… Doctor Who just isn't fun anymore unironically

What super controversial thing would you like to actually see the show grapple with?

I like to think that the Doctor is bisexual, even if that's not neccessarily supported by the show. If I was responsible, 13 would be in to both, and fans could come to their own conclusions

>Clara was underwritten

in Series 7b? yeah. 8 and 9? absolutely not. Clara had the most depth of any companion and goes on an incredibly large character arc if you compare her first episode to her last, but it never once felt forced or unnatural

I think a lot it was thanks to Jenna.

But to Moffat's credit, he was pretty good at basing his characters on the personality of the actors or the dynamic between the actors. Which I don't see with Chibnall so far.

Fuck i can't stand that cunt.

Stick to clickbaity videos about World of Warcraft, shithead

>retards think moff cant write women

>they get chibnall who cant write men or women

The most kino moff trope to ever grace this earth is the sheer amount of effort he puts in into making the audience think twice about whether the story is real or not or whether it could feasibly be true in the real world. im watching jekyll and the way he tries to make dr jekyll and mr hide interpret-able as non-fiction is kino as fuck

Besides the typical retards like Claudia, did anyone who was actually cool argue that Moffat couldn't write for women?

What's wrong about Moff's writing of women?

Or should I say, what do people think is wrong?

It’s sexually charged which makes it sexist

But honestly, at least his female characters aren’t walking fetishes

>walking fetishes

Doesn't that say more about the viewer than Moffat if they look at Clara and think she's a walking fetish? Unless you assume every young teacher is a fetish object.

>walking fetishes

What fetishes do Clara and Amy represent?

What fetish does Bill represent?

Remind yourself, how many dominatrixes did Moffat create? That’s an inherently sexual character archetype.

>just because someone is gay means they're a walking fetish

That sounds like you're dehumanizing gay people if you suggest Bill is a walking fetish simply for being a lesbian.

Het men see lesbians as a walking fetish

There's a persistent rumor that Mark Gattiss spent years trying to bring back Doctor Who before the BBC chose RTD to do it.

That's why we need a heterocaust.

File: c19828fd6b1fd6d⋯.png (143.39 KB, 626x622, 313:311, ahem.png)

What's your point? Why are characters being sexual a bad thing?

It's really easy to believe Gatiss constantly knocking on the BBC office hoping to pitch his own Doctor Who. Didn't he mention that An Adventure in Space and Time was something he pitched back in 2003, and he had David Bradley in mind even back then?

As a bisexual pervert, the idea of making a character that doesn't appeal directly to my fetishes (or any fetishes in general, I suppose) is completely insane. Strong-willed woman? Meek and submissive man? Powerful man, submissive and feminine woman? Any color or size? Any archetype or stereotype? Fuck, even flat, two dimensional characters can become sexual objects depending on their design and portrayal. Look how the while "Chris Pratt Dad Bod" meme took over a few years back.

also moffs femdom fetish is based and redpilled and always has been.

I don't really know about Gattiss's history with trying to bring back Doctor Who, but I know the BBC approached RTD back in 2000 to do something for them after the success of Queer As Folk and he responded by asking to make Doctor Who. They said no, it was dropped for a few years, then whassername at BBC Wales happened to be in a position to make it happen just as Paul Cornell was writing Shalka, leading to the greatest forgotten cockblock in Doctor Who history.

>civilization dies out in one generation

>what are sperm banks?

There is not a single character written by Moffat that is NOT written as a sexual fantasy for men.

Single female character*

But I don't want to fuck Nardole.

Because it conditions men to see women as nothing more than sexual objects.

Isn't that a good thing?

>that is NOT written as a sexual fantasy for Moffat

fixed it for you, theres literally nothing wrong with a writers desires seeping into his work, that's kind of the point of having one (wo)man decide the direction of a narrative you reductive pleb

But I don't want to fuck Vastra. Or Kovarian. Or Bill. Or Jeff's nan from Eleventh Hour. Or any of the Weeping Angels. Or the daughter from Doctor, Widow, Wardrobe. Or Ohila.

Other men do. They are all written to cater to different demographics of men’s sexual fantasies.

You only say that because you want to fuck Jenna.

conveniently forgetting that people frequently have sexual fantasies about the title character, even for the oogleh old one.

It’s okay for men to be sexualised because that’s an exception to the rule, not reinforcing harmful oppression like it is with women.

yeah sure lets just place artifical limits on what we're allowed to do with female characters, that for sure is gonna help progress womens rights.

By that logic, every female character ever written is meant to cater to a sexual fantasy. Unless you somehow believe more people want to fuck Clara's nan than they want to fuck Yaz.

As a cishet male, you don’t get a voice in deciding what is good for women.

t. Dimmeh

Only the ones written by Moffat. Chibnall’s female characters are explicitly non sexual.

Are you actually suggesting that clara’s nan, a character who shows explicit sexual interest in a naked 11, was not written as a sexual fantasy?

dwe of this kind of visual parallel?

>Are you actually suggesting that clara’s nan, a character who shows explicit sexual interest in a naked 11, was not written as a sexual fantasy?

Yes. I am suggesting Moffat was not writing an old lady with the intention that viewers would want to fuck the old lady.

Yaz is a sexual fantasy though. she never says anything and does what she's told. She has absolutely no personality too

Shut up, cishet man.

Is Steven Moffat a walking fetish? Whenever his face appears on a video, does anybody feel tingly in their crotch?

White cishet men need to learn that their opinion isn't welcome everywhere. Some conversations were never theirs to participate in, and in others they've had their permission revoked due to bad behaviour.

Nobody said that the sexual provocation had to be towards a man. Bill being a lesbian, and that being prominent in the scripts, is sexually charged and appeals to certain demographics of men.

Even as a joke, the joke is fundamentally sexually charged and therefore fundamentally appeals to the GILF demo as a bit of fetish bait. She's a sexual character.

If Bill was made to appeal to men they would've cast someone conventionally attractive.

I see people acting like the show is dead because the people they used to talk to about Doctor Who don’t like the new season. These people fail to realise that doctor who is always picking up new audience that likes and enjoys the current season. This season is not good in my opinion but it will continue on because there’s a new audience that like it

'I approached Russell T Davies with the idea of Big Finish making a Rose Tyler spin-off,’ says producer David Richardson. ‘He was very enthusiastic - as always - and suggested we followed Rose’s journey that ultimately leads to her finding the Doctor in The Stolen Earth. I found the proposal irresistible, and instantly script editor Matt Fitton and I were throwing around ideas. There is a whole multiverse of possibilities. Russell suggested including Jackie and Pete, and embraced my idea of including a parallel universe version of Clive - who of course was killed off in the TV series (in the 2005 episode Rose).

‘Russell guided us gently through the development - steering us towards ideas that worked brilliantly, ensuring things that needed improvement were fixed, and also throwing out the ideas that didn’t work. I’m absolutely delighted with what we have - a family drama about the end of worlds. It’s about love and loss and things that might have been - and our brilliant cast have embraced the emotional scripts.’

There’s something symbolic about 9 and 11, the first doctors for RTD and Moffat, meeting for the first time in a con and having a handshake after we entered the Chib era. It’s like we can put down our petty showrunner wars and just appreciate both RTD and Moffat for what they do well instead of ferociously nitpicking. For one moment (era) we can all get along

>It never happened again, any era, anywhere.

I mean it though.

The Witchfinders felt like some RTD Doctor Who? What the fuck?

But still it wasn't good Doctor Who either. A strong 6.5, just like TWWFTE.

TWWFTE to Earth, you mean?

It was RTD who without the lighthearted soundtrack.

the doctor who equivalent of this is when all the aliens put aside their differences to lock the doctor in the pandorica

>The Witchfinders felt like some RTD Doctor Who?

You can thank Alan Cumming

Whether you mean it or not doesn't matter. It's bait irregardless

>It's bait irregardless

I think you mean "regardless".

What would you do if you got home from work late one night and found Mel naked on your bed

i can't believe you bought that bait.

And I can't believe you bought mine.

I miss this kind of writing.

I would get a broom, sweep her off and say "shoo! get out of here before I call the police!"

How long will it take for another poet to helm the show? Something about a poet's mind not only gives dialogue like this but also helps them to connect plot elements in creative ways that work well for a time travel show

this is bait

>Caretaker? YOU'RE FIRED

Will chibnall ever write an episode where time travel is an active element of the plot, rather than just being used as the means of arriving at the plot?

There is literally nothing wrong with this episode.

neo just posted bait and someone ate it

Yes. Episode.

what the fuck that's a based variant

>Plans for a Doctor Who spin-off show starring Billie Piper were scrapped at the last minute, series producer Russell T Davies has revealed.

>"It was actually commissioned by the controller of BBC One and budgeted," the writer told Doctor Who Magazine.

>Davies later decided the programme, Rose Tyler: Earth Defence, was "a spin-off too far" and called it off.

>new years special is still going to be winter themed

your fucking face when

Women like to refer to hot women (both real and fictional) as "sex objects" because the idea that a woman could be both more attractive and more interesting than them verges the fuck out of them.

Kerblam! and The Witchfinders both felt like episodes right out of Series 3/4.

I'm not sure but I think I hate it.

>Women like to refer to hot women (both real and fictional) as "sex objects" because the idea that a woman could be both more attractive and more interesting than them verges the fuck out of them.

Holy shit who let the incel in?

Blame Davies, Clive is effectively the costar of the Rose novelization.

>11 became human and got too hurt by it so 12 decided not to care about them anymore

Pure Moffkino.

My mom hates 13's outfit so maybe covering most of it up with a scarf will help make it go down smoother.

why do we dislike this episode again?

White and purple one is great.

"Nothing happens"

But seriously it's one of the best Christmas specials.

Hoodie actually enjoyed The Witchfinders. Bizarro universe.

Because it's bad.

It's really not.

I remember not liking the opening scene with 11 being completely fine in the vacuum of space, and the logistics of "the doctor is all smooshed up in the spacesuit but the spacesuit can repair him good as new"

le no plot

Isn't the plot that they're travelling to the tower in the winter land in order to get back home?

There's still more of a plot in that special than in any Series 11 episode so far.

>There's a place set for you.

>But you didn't know I was coming, why would you set me a place?

>Ohhhh because we always do.

The Doctor is Elijah, confirmed, canon, verified.

It's actually the same amount of plot as the Ghost Monument.

kind of making me want to rewatch doctor widow wardrobe, I barely remember anything about it. That S6-7 transition was basically the peak of my lack of interest in the show

Not worth

Kerblam! and The Witchfinders are better than anything in Series 7, not counting the 2013 specials.

Jesus Christ you again?

This is unironically true

And Punjab is better than those

Nope. They're not even better than one of the Chibnall episodes in Series 7.

At least S11 doesn't have rushed endings.

You missed yesterday's ep?

What about the ending was rushed?

Sticking a burning log into a tree which autmaticaly pulls all the aliens into the prison.

Contrived and rushed aren't the same thing. In terms of duration, it was not rushed.

And neither is The Power of Three

>Jesus Christ you again?

I know, how dare someone give credit where credit is due.

Disagree, Demons of the Punjab is a selfish piece of television, I blame Chibnall for it's inclusion in Series 11.

The ending is actually set up well in advance, with the mud, the axe and the ducking stool all being parts of the puzzle.

The means of that episode's resolution are not set up, it all just suddenly happens with 3 minutes left.

>Blah blah blah, how dare a writer write about their own country's history in a show where the characters can easily go to said country's history?

Are there any promo images for It Takes You Away yet other than these?

3 minutes left in runtime including the credits, no less.

Power of Three felt like the first part of a 2-parter, but Chibnall forgot to give the second script to Moffat.

The Power of Three ending is set up well in advance with the Sonic Screwdriver being intoduced decades earlier in Fury from the Deep.

You know, at least Series 11 will still be better than Game of Thrones' last season.

If there's anybody worse at showrunning than Chibnall, it's D&D.

I cant believe Neo turned up to correct someone who referred to a special as an episode and then immediately fucked off again.

implying he hasn't been baiting anonymously this whole thread

And how will you prove that?

The admin could prove it

>Nobody else knows the Doctor like I do

Fucking Rose.

completely in character though.

t. Neo

reminder she was with him for less than a year

Watch how he recoils. "I've been found out!" etc

Could you imagine if Heaven Sent was a Series 2 episode? And 10 spent four and a half billion years punching a diamond wall to get to Rose?

>Blah blah blah, how dare a writer write about their own country's history in a show where the characters can easily go to said country's history?

I don't blame Vinay or Malorie for writing what they wrote, their careers are built from capitalising on their identities so of course that's where they'd go with it. It's what they write. I blame Chibnall for enabling it and not guiding them toward something a little less dull. Note how the Witchfinders didn't shy away from showing injustice but also didn't dedicate it's whole runtime to some "important" exploration of historical grievances instead of you know, science-fiction.

whats the name of the song that plays at the end of the who confidentials, or is that just a oneoff 10 sec tune

Fairly sure it's the "middle bit" of I am the Doctor, which wasn't used too much

Funny that, the science fiction aspect of Witchfinders was hackneyed horse manure and the episode would have been infinitely better served by giving more of a shit about its human characters.

Witchfinders was just as much a personal story for its writer as demons and rosa were.

I don't understand why so many people dislike Peter Capaldi as the Doctor!!! He really is the BEST Doctor (opinion)!!!

It's because he ruined many AMAZING scripts with his bad acting.

Trust a female writer to add unsubtle grievances about how females were treated in the past (not sexist)

Can't believe this selfish bitch would write such grievance-ridden nonsense instead of the true science fiction we deserve.

I hate women (not sexist)

My foot itches (not sexist).

One of the many reasons why this wiki doesn't always 100% match /who/ is because /who/ changed a lot during the past year, more than anybody seems to acknowledge. The descrepencies between this wiki and /who/ are not, in fact, exclusively the Redditers' and Facebookers' fault, though they didn't help. When I first joined /who/, less than a year ago, lots of different people came with lots of different ideas. Since then, its userbase, opinions, and conversation topics seem to have been shrinking, and this wiki has lots of old articles that sometimes reflects what /who/ used to be like and what its users used to talk about. In all fairness, the change is not entirely anybody's fault. The Revived version of the show was on for twelve years, so it's no longer event television, so fewer people are invested in it. It was only a matter of time until /who/ began to weaken. To counter this problem, we should probably move it all to the forums or the Discord, which are both more easily accessible to new recruits, so that it would gain new blood and some fresh, inspired memes. (not sexist)

WHY WOULD THE MONSTERS MAKE THEMSELVES AWARE THAT THEY EXIST IN THE DREAM? DON'T GIVE ME THAT SUBCONSCIOUS shit they knew exactly what they looked like despite all being taken when asleep. Fucking ridiculous.

And Santa too was also dumb as shit. Don't even get me started on Capildi (who's Italian NOT Scottish) acting like a retard on the sleigh.

Too much this doctor is acting like a retard. And his Clara obsession is ridiculous, she's been around long enough she needs to fucking go. I was so happy when she was like 80 I thought fucking finally but then another twist and she's alive. Pissed me off almost as much as Harry Potter still being alive at the end of the books when you blatantly show him dying.

British writers should just stop doing sci-fi fantasy if this is the shit they are going to make.

Fucking Clara. Fuck Clara. Annoying bint.

At least Tennant could handle a xmas special by himself, this Capildi runs to Clara within 5 minutes WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT MOFFAT.

Really ruined my christmas tv this episode did. (not sexist)

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

imagine chibnall's finale having a climax like this

>I need my friend back

the 12/missy arc began with missy trying to convert the doctor to her side so they could be friends again

and it ended with the doctor converting missy to his side so they could be friends again

Doctor Who will never be this kino again.

I thought the idea of aliens fuelling satanic panic was pretty damn good, especially since the aliens had a sort of "infectious" vibe about them, like how diseases would be blamed on the devil.

Being inspired and being selfish are two different things. If Joy made the Witchfinders with some hackneyed message about female empowerment or something i'd say exactly the same thing, but it didn't, so I treat it accordingly. Don't put your blogposts on TV if you don't want backlash.

Witchfinders DID have a hackneyed message about female empowerment though.

>Don't put your blogposts on TV if you don't want backlash.

What backlash? Your whining? None of them go on /who/. They have no idea who you are.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

Imagine segun composing something with this much poetic significance

>If Joy made the Witchfinders with some hackneyed message about female empowerment or something i'd say exactly the same thing, but it didn't, so I treat it accordingly. Don't put your blogposts on TV

Where do you get this belief that stories with opinions in them, such as "racism is bad" or "gigantic genocides are bad", aren't stories but "blog posts"? What do you think a story is?

Every Twilight Zone episode was Rod Serling's blog post.

Blogpostanon doesn't like stories about the injustices of history because they require empathy to enjoy

Witchfinders is a weird one to me. It ought to have hit several of the right notes and yet I feel nothing.

Remembrance of the Daleks was such a selfish blog post for suggesting that right-wing nationalism is bad. Why did Aaronovitch have to put that hackneyed message in this story?

No it didn't. There was definitely some stuff in there but it didn't swallow the whole plot. There was a balance there that I appreciated.

Can't wait for the empathetic serious episodes about the the great plague, the arab/barbary slave trade, the Holodomor, the Harrying of the North, the Newport Rising etc. Oh wait, they don't tick the boxes for "topical" and "socially relevant", do they?

>Oh wait, they don't tick the boxes for "topical" and "socially relevant", do they?

We get it. You're a cletus.

So, to be clear, you admit it's not actually even the nature of the story that is bad and you're just angry about the choice of subject matter. Thanks for being honest.

It's okay to be white.

It's okay to be white, but it's not okay to be proud of being white.

It's not okay to be proud of anything you weren't responsible for. That includes being a member of any race.

It still managed to be PC friendly by making the Hindu the radical, imagine the outrage if the muslim were the aggressor. Also made zero attempt to explain why Partition occurred.

*record scratch*

Yep that's me, I bet you're wondering how I ended up here

I'm proud of my dick lmao

>It still managed to be PC friendly by making the Hindu the radical,

>PC friendly

Historicals about injustice are bad. I mean they're fine but historicals about injustice against black and Indian people are bad. I mean they're fine but any in which Muslims aren't the antagonists are bad. I just want the show to be fair!

t. mayoid

You're not fooling anyone, morph.

t. mayoid

I don't know why you find this hard to understand. There's nothing particularly terrible about Rosa or Demons, it's the fact they were made in the first place whereas something similarly blunt with the races or religions swapped would never be greenlit. They are every bit as safe as the rest of Series 11 and play to what people want to hear. If Chibnall wants to score brownie points by having the "right opinions" at the expense of good storytelling of course i'm going to criticise that.

>Also made zero attempt to explain why Partition occur

I think that a big part of why the partition occured (not the only part, before you get pedantic) is because a bunch of (white) british people drew up said border. Making it about why the partition occured would mean that the whiteys are the villains instead of the hindus surely? I felt that Demons didn't rail against the british nearly enough given the subject matter. There's one line about how the british government didn't think the border through properly, and that's about it. They've taken a time period where the british government did something at best badly thought out, at worst malicious, and made brown hindus the bad guy. What more could you want here?

If you want a reason why the more villainous ones are hindus, and not muslims, I think I should point out that the writer comes from a hindu background, so he probably felt more comfortable showing shitty things hindus did, and not shitty things muslims did

The partition wouldn’t have happened if muslims didn’t demand an ethnostate.

Let me guess, if Chib made a historical that praised Thatcher and said the Conservatives were the best party ever, you wouldn't criticize that?

The partition wouldn’t have happened if jews didn’t demand an ethnostate.

What would there be to criticize with that?

The partition wouldn’t have happened if irish didn’t demand independence

>Why story tell me non-white people history? Me mad!

How BASED would a UNIT spin off series about fighting a Zygon ISIS-like faction be?

>make brown people the villain

>barely criticise the british

>the cletuses are still verged

None of which would have happened if the British didn't deliberately exacerbate religious divisions in order to maintain control.

same thing for Keblam, they did not need people, robots would do it all, they give jobs to people and people complain they are mistreated

The Witchfinders

Arachnids in the U.K

All entertaining.

Yeah, I loved the Thijarians but they just felt too extraneous and unimportant to the story, bit like an afterthought.

Anyone remember that quote from either Chibnall or Strevens where they said you could start watching halfway through the series? I think it was from a video interviw but not the same one where Streve said "you don't even have to watch it in order".

>Anyone remember that quote from either Chibnall or Strevens where they said you could start watching halfway through the series?

Why even do that? The Tenth Doctor era that Chibnall/Strevens desperately want to emulate had season arcs and required people to watch at least some of the episodes in order.

no season arc = ALL FILLERS

It’s all coming together now…

series 7>series 11

series 7 had bells of saint john, hide, rings, cold war, and the crimson horror. all of which were fairly comfy and fun. were they the best episodes ever? no. but they were at least entertaining. which is more than you can say about series 11 so far except like maybe rosa on a good day.

Just to illustrate:

New Earth - Not really important this season, but does build up the New Earth arc

Tooth and Claw - Introduces the Torchwood arc

School Reunion - Rose learns that she's not the first love in the Doctor's life. Mickey becomes a companion.

The Girl in the Fireplace - Not necessary for season arc.

Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel - One of the main villains of this season is introduced. Mickey leaves.

The Idiot's Lantern - Not necessary for this season arc.

The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit - Not necessary for this season arc.

Love & Monsters - Shows how Jackie's opinion on the Doctor has changed.

Fear Her - Not necessary for this season arc.

Army of Ghosts/Doomsday - Arc finale

I can't think any season/series wost than s11

is that why none of the characters have any development or personality? so you don't miss anything? thanks chibs.

Okay. How is Season 22 better than Series 11?
