Would you?

You won't put your penis in her vagina

This is your reminder that the frog was the best part of the episode.

You don't sound mad at all.

I ship the moon dragon and the universe frog

She won't let you have sex with her

Say something nice. You have three more chances.

She won't tickle your pickle

I'd like to 'tickle' your 'pickle' anon

About what? Also she won't slob on your knob

I'd like to 'slob' on your 'knob' anon

Oh now, I have to go listen to Three6. Thanks, dick.

1) I liked the frog in It Takes You Away

2) Kerblam! is a good episode

3) She won't make a selection for your erection

I dislike Ed Hime making It Takes You Away so selfish. Why did he have to turn it into a blogpost all about his Frog Universe theory? A shame Chibnall let this leftist propaganda in.

>Burdened, Ryan asks about Hanne’s blindness – – which is reductive – – and then pities her condition as “hard,” when it is different than his. “I don’t need you to feel sorry for me,” she barks. Hanne is offended because Ryan’s narrowmindedness assumes her blindness to be such a hardship that her dad would leave her.

I feel like a leap was made somewhere in this paragraph. Did it really seem like Ryan was arguing that her dad left her because she's blind?

Just steal it from BBC IPlayer like everyone else. False postcode and a VPN, nobody will know.

Oh wait, BBC IPlayer is a literal heap of shit.

WTF. It was so clear to me that everything was filipped.

>In “It Takes You Away,” the fate of the universe rests on the Doctor’s ability to seduce a woman.

>Sure, it could be argued that the Solitract is not technically a woman, but a conscious universe. However, the Solitract only ever presents as female. Peter Capaldi famously refused any romantic scenes for the Twelfth Doctor, even declining to remove his wedding ring for the part. There was a line Capaldi was reticent to cross with the character. Here, Whittaker embraces the opportunity, giving herself over to the scene and approaching the Doctor’s actions with courage. It is an amazing moment of representation, highlighted by a fearless actress’ talent. > Assuming Who even has canon

>Peter Capaldi famously refused any romantic scenes for the Twelfth Doctor

Literal nonsense.

>implying it wasn't seven old ladies who spun Ulysses into existence

I think he might be extrapolating from when Capaldi said there'd be no hanky panky with Clara. Clearly he just wasn't paying attention during Husbands of River Song.

Actually to expand on this I think Who's lack of canon is a strength of the series.

The Doctor and other people are always fucking around with time, but we, being outside their universe as viewers, are immune to that. So what *we* see has happened, and what the doctor has *experienced* is going to be different, because of the impact of time travel upon the universe.

you know frogs aren't lizards, right?

I do, but DWTV probably doesn't.

It's literally just the fact the Solitract is only played by women, first as Erik's wife then as the frog voiced by Grace.

You're right about the gone mental bit though. Imagine thinking an episode or performance is "fearless" for having a potential tiny grain of gay subtext…in a show that literally had two girls snog on screen last year.

TV trailer also has the Doctor saying "I know that voice".

13's unique characteristic is her empathy, and her willingness to relate to and put herself on the same level as the people around her She has a more personal relationship with her companions, staying with them for a week helping them deal with the grief she inadvertently caused. She's about to practically be murdered in cold blood by a powerful king and her response is to calmly talk with him and try to appeal to his better nature. And now she's even managed to touch hearts with a sentient universe, enough to muse later on that she made a new friend. This is a deliberate choice to contrast 12's alien nature when dealing with other people in order to distance her from her previous regeneration, and to finally retire the Lonely God persona that's followed the Doctor throughout the modern series.

Chibnall is a good ideas man, he's just fucking shit at writing.

so why did hanne repeat 'it takes you away' to herself? did she hear it from somewhere? bit of a weird thing for her to just make up.

i like the bit where the dad sees what the doctor wrote on the wall. it did feel nice to have something just really mental in series 11 for once with the frog and a sentient universe that wishes it could be part of the main one.

decent episode. series highlight, but would have been far better in a series where there wasn't some apparent mandate that the dialogue in every episode, no matter which writer, must have the same distinctively clunky shiteness.

can't wait for *looks at notes* …Series 12 Episode 6

Has anyone here seen Tin Star? If so, is it any good?

the first time a series 11 trailer made me intrigued about an episode and it's just gonna turn out to be fucking tim shaw

i'm so pissed off that ranscor cunt telos is most likely just going to be desolation in the past. makes too much sense.

remember the doctor just happening to say 'i love my sonic' in it takes you away, and then ribbons later tries to get it from her? that kind of obvious telegraphing is series 11 all over.

at least it'd lend the ghost monument a bit more significance. well, i'm not at all interested in anything to do with that episode, but it makes it less bizarre that the doctor would be so invested in finding out about the planet's history, finding out about the stenza which she just happened to meet for the first time in her previous adventure, and then seemingly just never references it again.

File: 211816a5f8ce2b2⋯.jpg (63.8 KB, 843x703, 843:703, ts.jpg)

Tin Star?

Let's be honest, it was the second best episode of the series

>brings up the wooly rebellion

>it works as a non sequitur

>immediately goes onto explain it and ruin the joke

In a series of mediocre and average stories begrudgingly filling my top 3 I'm really surprised that we had a story like It Takes You Away to throw a cat amongst the pigeons.

File: e0dc0250f651842⋯.jpg (66.62 KB, 1280x640, 2:1, mpv-shot0008.jpg)

The frog was a puppet right? The way it moved was too stiff for it to have been raw CGI

It's a real puppet/model. The light that shines off a puppet/model is unique. CGI can get 90% of the way but it never gets the glimmer right.

Would have been much funnier if it was ambiguous to be honest. It implies the sheep have rebelled, but it could be something totally different and bizarre

For sure, no fully CGI creature would have moved that stiltedly.

I reckon the eyelids are cgi, the rest physical

>Doctor has 7 grandmothers even though we saw him in an orphan shelter

>assuming the Doctor's seven grandmothers were all on Gallifrey or when she was a child

This is the "sisters" thing all over again.

Well now, looms don't weave themselves, do they?

the anti-zone scenes were boring and drag the episode down. imagine if that time was spent exploring graham and ryan's grief as they confronted the possibility of grace still being alive

how do you feel about 7 grandmothers? I think the Doctor is her own grandmother

it's totally based

But anon. Every episode needs epic landscapes, big emotions, and monsters. What more could you want from television?

an oversized moth is a terrible excuse for a monster

so the final rankings are

Mothra would like a word.

It Takes You Away > Kerblam! > The Witchfinders > Arachnids in the UK > The Ghost Monument > Demons in the Punjab > Rosa > The Woman Who Fell to Earth > The Tsuranga Conundrum

Why demons so low?

too many brown people

I dunno, I really fucking hate moths so I'll accept flesh-eating moths as a threat.

Demons was 3rd in my rankings, then 4th. Demons wasn't my favourite story ever but it looked really nice so that saves it from the shitlist.

Fucking love moths

mothra's different to "we made a model of a regular moth but made it the size of a head and pretended that was good enough"

Say one good thing about The Ghost Monument that isn't ryan's call of duty scene

>Opening scene with 13, Yaz and Epzo in the shuttle was really nice

>Grand Prix elements were nice

>Angstrom and Epzo played off each other fairly well

>Landscape was nice

<Ilin was criminally underused

<Call of Duty scene

>Grand Prix elements were nice

I would argue that that's only true in concept, not execution, so the episode can't get credit for it

File: 41402734ef5aeb1⋯.jpg (51.85 KB, 1280x640, 2:1, mpv-shot0009.jpg)

what was meant to be the "most powerful performance in doctor who's 55 years" or whatever the fuck?

The most powerful performance is 2 saying goodbye to Jamie and Zoe

moths are really cute, and the moths in tonight's ep were especially cute. prove me wrong. you can't.

I would love to sit down and talk to the guy that's so enamoured with this whole scene. Because I do not understand it at all. I actually think there was a slight subtext at one point, but nothing super powerful… I wanna know what was going through that guys head

The Doctor seducing the Solitract. This was "fearless" because it was gay representation, apparently. Yeah we don't get it either.

the CGI has generally been really good this series, DNEG are great at their job. Last week's CGI on the branches moving around was intentionally made to look like stop motion animation with the herky-jerky framerate effect it had, but it was definitely CGI. So while I'm 90% sure the frog was animatronic, it's possible that CGI is just getting to that level now

the inherent lesbianism of talking to an animatronic frog

Well put Fake Nilso

she kissed kino away

Thanks. I left my flag on, kek

CGI would have had better articulation. It moved with the jankiness of an animatronic, and that's not something an animator would ever intentionally replicate unless they specifically chose to

So now that ryan's got over himself and is fine calling graham granddad, what is even left to resolve in the finale in terms of character arcs?

Is chibnall really just going to use the return of tim shaw as a superficial "look how far we've come since we last met wow a lot sure has happened" reflective thing? Will it be about ryan and graham resolving their grief by confronting the one responsible for grace's death?

it's also pretty hard to animate motion like that consistently, without any slip-ups. if it was cgi, it would've looked like it at least at some point. it was definitely animatronic, and the frog was tiny anyway, so it's not as though it would've been hard for them to build

which is why I bring up the CGI in The Witchfinders. Go rewatch the scene where the branch things move on their own, it's like a Harryhausen movie

So the universe just creates a buffer between portals when it senses that the portal is dangerous? Doesn't that suggest a higher power maintaining the universe?

Yeah, the time lords

Yes, but first and foremost it will be a brainless action movie to demonstrate how competent the new companions all are now, and how ANGERY SCRONCH the Doctor can get when Tim Shaw pisses her off.

it could, but also it could be a natural effect in a way. Just a buffer that gets created when the universes get near eachother. Like how a metal might rust when in contact with water, 2 universes might buffer like this when nearby

have we even heard from chibnall since the series began

always felt like moffat was an ever-present figure

so who the fuck was Ribbons and why was he there. He wouldn't have been created by the Solitract, right? and Erik knew about him? Why'd he let Erik through to the other side? and if Erik knew about a gollum monster that wanted to eat humans essentially living in his attic, why create a fake monster unrelated to Ribbons to keep his daughter IN the fucking house?

Chibnall went into hiding when he realised the show was going to shit.

an anon here said the goblin guy had no loved ones, so he was stuck in the anti-zone, and never stayed in the mirror-world

Didn't ribbins say that he had always been in the anti-zone? Like he was created with it, along with the flesh moths?

can't believe he's gone…

After seeing 13 say "It's me, not you" to a universe that looks like a talking frog, I think we can no longer say that S11 is afraid to be Doctor Who.

Yeah, 13's empathy has been a constant running theme. It culminated in her befriending a universe.

Did they actually announce he left or is he still in limbo at the hospital?

best thingg the show had. It's such a shame that if he came back, he'd show Bradders his willy, and get in trouble with BBC HR

Mark Addy's character is an amnesiac explorer who travelled to a previously-thought-dead Skaro in order to plunder their ancestral homeworld of hidden or lost weaponry. The Ux operate in the same way that the Movellans do as a false enemy. The beacons were designed to separate groups and draw them away from the collapsed Kaled domes. Mark Addy gets exterminated.

anno owns the rights to artistic abstract psyche worlds

I stumbled across the Doctor Who thread on a forum I glance at occasionally, and they're still arguing about whether or not the Doctor can/should be a woman. Not even discussing the episodes, still just hung up on that.

i thought we all talked about this in 2014 and then promptly moved on

i've never been so desperate for the daleks to come back

You'd think so, but no. Some of them are still at it, nine episodes into the series.

I will say, as little as I care for S11, it does demonstrate once and for all that making the Doctor female does not change the show from its generic, recognisable template in any way. (Exactly as everyone with a brain suspected.)

9 episodes is understating it, it's been 4 fucking years since the conversation kicked into high gear with Missy

they come back but theyre cgi. How would you feel about it then?

Oh, yeah, that's true, but even the Missy conversation wasn't as pervasive as the Doctor one. It didn't exactly hit the headlines in quite the same way, and it didn't attract quite so many outsiders to come in and debate about it.

only cuz Chibnall and Strevens are too scared to actually do anything with the fact that the Doctor is a woman now because they don't want to alienate the cletus portion of the fanbase.

>“Once Peter [Capaldi] had decided he was leaving, the next Doctor was always going to be a female Doctor. That’s what Chris wanted, that was part of his conditions of doing the job.”

>He added: “We knew in our gut it was about time and it felt like the right decision, and the character is not gender-specific, in any way really."

so Chibnall wanted to only cast a woman in the role, but at the same time he's saying gender doesn't matter to the Doctor. Both of which are fine in their own right, but they contradict each other. You can't have your cake and eat it too

Well, they don't exactly contradict each other because they're sort of saying different things. Gender doesn't matter to the Doctor in-universe, but gender does matter in the context of the real world.

>so Chibnall wanted to only cast a woman in the role, but at the same time he's saying gender doesn't matter to the Doctor. Both of which are fine in their own right, but they contradict each other.

There's no contradiction. Casting a woman in a role previously reserved for only men makes a statement in real life, especially in showing that a woman can be the Doctor as much as a man. But, as well, in-universe, the Doctor's personality in each incarnation is based on much more than the gender, and so there doesn't have to be gender-specific differences or extreme focus on her being a woman.

TL;DR: There's no reason that the concept of being a "Doctor" be gender-specific. Casting a woman in the role is a good way to prove this, as is having the gender change not having a big effect on the portrayal of the first woman Doctor.

That was okay. I fucking hate Clint Hassell.

Which eps do you think were written with a gender-non-specific Doctor in mind—Kerblam, ITYA or both? Demons and Witchfinders both have her gender being relevant to the plot to varying extents so I don't think it was either of those. (Maybe Demons added that stuff in a later draft but I kind of doubt it.)

All the scripts were, actually. Witchfinders still works with a male Doctor, with a few tweaks, as men were killed for being witches as well.

>You'll be surprised at the themes tackled in this one!

<Sci-fi grief tale #130087

Okay that makes sense, and explains a few things about The Witchfinders.

I like how they made ryan's history with his father relevant to how he processed situations

that was good, I liked the tension his cynicism caused in his interactions with Yaz and Hanna. If only that wasn't isolated to this one episode.

what was the significance of yaz going 'wow wtf' when ryan was cynical about hanna's father, only for him to be proven right and that not being addressed?

was that Thirteen's theme that played when they were all running out at the end? I couldn't remember what it was supposed to sound like so I couldn't tell. Also that camera shake in that scene was fucking atrocious, especially because the entire time Jodie looked like when you pretend to run in slow motion.

Fucking weird, isn't it? Also Hanna and her Dad never really had a scene where they sit down and discuss things with each other. Bit JUST desu. One of the biggest fallacies about Chibnall Who so far is the notion that "it's about people" imo.

same reason why it would've made sense for Ryan to be like "hey sorry I assumed your dad just left you, my dad left me when I was your age etc" and for the two of them to bond in that moment. Ryan is a non-character, so much so that his entire role is to sit around and wait for everyone else to come back in an episode where his dead nan appears to have come back from the dead. He doesn't interact with her at all. He only fucking finds out about this OFF SCREEN.

frog was cool but would've liked to have seen it take the form of Alex Turner desu

It's explicitly written to be about family, but it's not done well.

But this breaks new ground for off screen drama. The directors are actually placing action immediately out of frame.

The women drowned in the witch trials? Don't worry, they'll have pockets.

The blind girl with the deadbeat dad? Don't worry, she'll have wi-fi.

okay I'm not the only one who noticed that

I thought ITYA was decent but it still verged me because an episode that's so obviously supposed to be "the kino one" is still so limp and has shitness quietly permeating through it

>extra letterboxed

>squished horizontally

how the fuck did they manage that?

i thought her reaction was weirdly delayed too

>an episode that's so obviously supposed to be "the kino one" is still so limp and has shitness quietly permeating through it

I agree with this assessment but it doesn't verge me because that's what I've come to expect. It's still the second best this series, though that's almost by default. It has less flaws than kerblam and demons is too competent even though even that has its flaws in some areas (particularly editing)

Right, but it gives the character some grounding outside of the family she's part of. Literally all of her stories are about her Muslim upbringing, I just need something to go on. If she and the Doctor turned out to be a couple, it would give her some motivation at the very least.

>Yaz and the Doctor turn out to be a couple

would redeem the Chibnall-era desu

>Literally all of her stories are about her Muslim upbringing

she has only had one story about this, and her family being muslim wasn't the most important part of that story

Demons of the Punjab and Arachnids in the UK both talked about her family, not showing much about her outside of that.

You've moved the goalposts, Hunter. Please put the goalposts back.

explain to me how Arachnids in the UK is about Yaz's muslim upbringing. As well as Demons of the Punjab.

arachnids never mentions anything about islam. the key takeaway of demons was not "family muslim", it was "grandmother's dead husband"

>it was "grandmother's dead husband"

who was explicitly NOT muslim!

What? Her upbringing is Muslim, and all of the stories focusing on her are about the Muslim family who raised her. No moving of goalposts or anything like that. Just using different words for the same thing.

Her grandmother being muslim was relevant to the plot, but it was not something the viewer was prompted to focus on.

The Star and Crescent Moon are seen on their wall in Arachnids of the UK, so it's shown pretty clearly that they are Muslim in that one.

Why are you fixating on the fact that her family is muslim when it is virtually never relevant to how they are portrayed?

But that has no impact on the narrative whatsoever.

That anon isn't fucking saying that, they're just saying that religions have traditions and values, and Yaz has never been depicted as outwardly showing any Muslim traditions or values. hang on a fucking minute, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this quote. Ignoring the obvious romantic element of Twelve and Clara's relationship, particularly in the last three episodes of Series 9, does the reviewer not remember shit like Missy kissing Twelve in Dark Water? Or the sexual tension (kinda one-sided on Missy's part but there nonetheless) between the two of them during Capaldi's entire run?

How the fuck did he miss all of that but 13 being nice to an entire universe in the form of a frog has some obvious lesbian subtext only he has been able to understand

I've been watching the first season of the Steins;Gate anime.

>[post] is literally saying Muslims act different than what's portrayed on the show

no, I said that yas has never done something that can explicitly be attributed to a muslim upbringing.

They've made her being a police officer relevant to how she processes and handles situations (albeit sparingly, but an attempt was made). They haven't made her being mulsim relevant. She's never shown to process a situation by relating it to a concept from her religion, or discuss her religion in any way outside of mentioning that she's been called slurs on her way home from the mosque - and going to a mosque when your whole family is muslim is not indicative of her being personally religious.

The most glaringly selective misremembering is probably the entirety of The Husbands of River Song.

I mean for fuck's sake, how many times did Thirteen explicitly use the word "friendship" towards the Solitract in ITYA?

Um sweety that's racist. All of my muslim friends are normal, none of them are terrorists at all.

I never even said that. He was a Prophet in my view, but not the final one. Besides, the Hadith, which is a recounting of Muhammad's life and times and said he was the Final Prophet, isn't believed by all Muslims. Of course, there are Qur'anists who believe the Hadith isn't even secondary but rather completely against the teachings of the Qur'an, and embrace the Surahs as the only true Muslim text.

Jesus, it sucked. The writing was exactly as stilted and the acting exactly as wooden as I remembered. This is the best episode of the season?

>This is the best episode of the season?

No, episode 6 is

You spelt Rosa wrong.

(Pretending this isn’t just bait)

Have any of your Muslim friends, even just once, brought up their religion or upbringing in a conversation? Because Yas hasn’t

Honestly felt like it could be a Chibnall episode. The dialogue is so bad I'm sure Chibnall wrote some of this one.

It took me years to know that my best friend was Islamic. Give it a rest. People don't bring up religion every chance they get. Why should we expect Yaz to?

I remember Peter saying his Doctor wouldn't be flirtatious like the past few Doctors had been back when he was first announced in 2013, which was also back when Eleven started acting ridiculously fucking horny out of nowhere so it might've been a response to that. Not being flirtatious is also not at all the same as not being romantic. If anything I'd argue that Twelve is the most romantic Doctor but also the least explicitly sexual Doctor. People interpret the last part as him not being romantic which is just not the case at all.

I mean the man spent 4.5 billion years punching through a wall made of pure diamond and dying over and over again in the process just to be reunited with Clara, despite knowing full well that in order to save her life he'd have to go full Time Lord Victorious

Don't elaborate, you made your point well and I agree with you.

Maybe you should be more attentive, it’s easy to infer even if they don’t state it outright

Okay, I admit, maybe the Muslim bit wasn't very accurate. I understand that now, but what I meant was that her family takes the complexity her character should have had and uses it instead. Her family isn’t complex just because they’re Muslim. They could have done something risky like have them disprove of the thought that she could be in a lesbian relationship but they chose not to.

Her family was complex because of the people in it and its rich history. I should have made it clear that I love the characters more than their faith / tradition.

Characters having archetypes isn’t complex, it’s expected and should be mandatory.

Let me make it clear that it's very late and I mistyped something. I love the characters, but their faith takes second banana because their dynamic is much more solid than "lol were muslim"

It does beg the question, though, at what point does it become romantic as opposed to just deeply platonic? Not trying to challenge your point, I completely agree with it. Love is love, and it's indefinable at best. I suppose that's why 12/Clara is so debated, because people all take it in different ways, and I think there's great worth in all the various interpretations.

This ep was actually pretty good for Yaz. It had her use police training for a bit, and focused on what makes Yaz distinct–her police training makes her good at calming people, and at managing confrontation (also, she's lowkey the sassiest of the group). Also, her confusion at 13's explaining was hilarious.

Also, Yaz's hairdo this ep reminded me of Chun Li. Where she'd get hair styling equipment in the TARDIS?

While I definitely liked the episode a lot I think the anti-zone sequence with Ribbons should've either been trimmed down or cut out completely. It doesn't really serve much of a purpose, Ribbons only exists to get them from one end of a linear path to another before getting killed by the giant moths who don't do anything for the rest of the episode. It's a fine sequence on its own, but it's way too long and unrelated to the purpose of the episode, which is only introduced *after* the anti-zone sequence is finished and Ribbons is dead. Instead, the episode could've given Ryan more to do, it could've made the dad more of a sympathetic character, and also maybe even explained why Erik and Graham were given their dead loved ones back as a way of keeping them in the mirrorverse while the Solitract didn't even try to keep Yaz and Thirteen in its universe. Thirteen I can at least buy the frog at the end being her carrot on a stick, but the only reason why I can think Yaz wasn't shown anything by the Solitract is because there's literally been nothing/nobody from the previous 8 episodes that Hime could've used for her character.

Still, Jodie truly felt like the Doctor for the first time this series. It was also nice for her to finally get a Doctor speech, even if it was a super weak one compared to speeches from the RTD and Moffat eras. Pretty much everything about the scene with Thirteen and the frog is everything I could've wanted from this series. It was surprising, touching, creative, and most of all: it felt like great fucking Doctor Who.

How has /who/ gone this long without a repeat of the Skype group?

>Radio Times gave It Takes You Away 1/5 stars

the fuck

On the stream.

I feel, just like Twelve's speech in Into The Dalek gave an opening into his character, Thirteen's speech in It Takes You Away showed us a lot about her empathy, and ability to connect to others.

Also, 13 continues her theme of being direct–her "You do not want those words to be your last ones" reveals the flip side to her empathetic side. She has no problem handling enemies (altho note that she's bluffing with that screwdriver, which can't actually hurt Ribbons.) Also, note her cleverness when making her "map."

I wonder if Whoflix will try to re-edit Series 11 with Bradley Walsh as the Doctor and Jodie Whittaker as the companion. I'd watch the attempt, just to see how incoherent it became.

now she's allowed to have a slight smirk with a slightly open mouth

Or is it the other way around, is it the effect of sexism? "women have to look emotionless to be taken seriously, otherwise people will think it's a poster for a romcom"? Either way there's a double standard, why were male doctors allowed to have such varied expressions?

Is it possible jodie just defaults to that expression in photoshoots and she isn't being told to? I can't tell. It's always possible but it's the complete opposite of how she overacts all her facial expressions when filming.

I left the /who/ Discord.

Good idea leaving the discord, Hunter. Now that you're here, and not on the discord, there's no reason for all of us to pack up and go to the discord, while you're here. Because then we would be on the discord, and you would be here. No reason for everyone to do that.

I like Hunter because he shakes the status quo

Sloath here, if this is about the TW stream, I most likely will be able to attend today at the usual time

Have we reached 50% of the initial audience leaving? Loz was completely right when he compared Jodie to female ghostbusters having enough interest to do extremely well on the first weekend and then people realise it’s badly written and don’t come back

We hate Loz now because he disavowed Kerblam

I hadn't even considered today though I'd imagine us/TOS/gig would be around, Morph might be a more tricky proposition and I know he really wants to make the next one for obvious reasons. I'll send out some feelers.

I loved I am the Master by the way, great rec.

what do you mean?

Not quite, only if you compare this overnightly to the ep1 consolidated

That's actually a very nice thing to say. I'm flattered. Are you being ironic or something? If not, that keeps me going.

status quo*

Apologies for the confusion, I’m sure you know what I mean now

Using Loz logic, Heaven Sent was badly written because viewers didn't come back.

but Clara did

The drop from Heaven Sent to Hell Bent is nowhere near as substantial as from Woman to Ghost

>I loved I am the Master by the way, great rec.

Glad to hear you liked it, it's one of the best Master stories I've listened to.

thats my word you cant have it!!!

Neo giving away his podcast opinions here

That would be an ironic joke

Yeah, maybe I'd take Loz's opinions more seriously if he knew how to keep a book range alive.

Lads… are we approaching Capal overnight levels?

Shouldn’t you be writing your new show, Steven?

So yeah, I'd love to join. Don't worry, I'm not as annoying as I am in text.

Shouldn't you be writing your new book, Loz? Oh wait, you aren't.

we should do our own podcast

There are more important people than you who haven’t appeared yet.

>Neo thought It Takes You Away was stupid

Neo confirmed for shit taste.

It was worse than plenty of Chibnall episodes. One of the worst-written NewWho eps I've seen.

Kinda. I feel like we're not going to have a real good grasp on how things shake out until series 12 premieres, when Jodie being the Doctor is old news.

That's not a bad idea.

Imagine stopping your own episode two acts in for two characters to throw exposition at each other for over six minutes straight just to give your own episode a plot suddenly.

He's right you know. ITYA is just random ideas posturing as "kino"

/we/ care ft. Hunter, immigrant and judy

and skelly and 2oda

Was it really 6 minutes?

ITYA is the most Rick and Morty-esque episode of Doctor Who I can even think of. Vague gesturing at profundity, intellect, and emotion while not engaging with any of it at all. Complete pretension. Makes certain viewers feel smart while being abominably stupid.

Skelly did nothing wrong

>just random ideas posturing as "kino"

But that describes Zack Snyder movies, which Neo loves.

Yes, I am. What day?

what happened to CB?

Will you invite Catherine here?

Why do these posts keep getting deleted? I don't want to look like a fool.

Frog should had Nick Briggs voice

>episode verges Neo

Ryan not even seeing the fake Grace is the kind of shit you can't even make up. Even with its godawful mess of an ending, Kerblam was easily better than this. At least McTighe understood SOME of the basics of writing. He had SOME idea of how to deliver information in a script (if you MUST infodump, at least do it in a context that makes some sense, like an annoying robot designed to annoyingly infodump).

Tate? Sure, but I'd doubt she'd come. Last I talked with her she was busy with 10DA 3.

I don’t care enough about the episode to want to defend it. Neo’s argument has validity.

Imagine thinking you've come up with some creative, clever abstract, then saying the name of it over thirty times within ten minutes and never once stopping to let it breathe, instead constantly defining it with nonstop dialogue. solitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitractsolitract

There was an electricity to the premiere, perhaps because it was still touching the end of Capaldi's era, was the start of its own, and had that magic of potential - S11 could go anywhere from there! While Arachnids entertained me more minute-to-minute, I think it has the most overall worth of the Chibnall eps this year.

Disregarding the fact that its presence in the episode is completely superfluous, did you like anything about the antizone?

Arachnids is only enjoyed out of irony or otherwise self awareness. Woman actually attempted to do something serious and pulled it off okay, even though it's not without its flaws.

judys here

My favourite Chib ep this series has been Tsuranga :)

No. I think there was merit to the mirror universe, and actually liked one touch of it, that touch of course being the ONE thing in the episode Hime didn't vomit out a trillion words explaining (the fact the image was flipped), but the antizone was completely worthless and a complete waste of runtime.

I know a certain /who/re who would like to stroke Neo

Did anyone else think the Antizone was good and belonged in a much better episode

Noticed that on Twitter thanks to Nilso. That doesn't actually bother me particularly, my issues with the frog are separate. Nor does the frog not being a past continuity figure particularly bother me, though I understand the reasoning there. Taken entirely on its own terms the ep just falls apart to me because Hime was a terrible writer writing a terrible script terribly.

He's actually right though. I remember thinking the episode was boring until I was amazed grace showed up because it was actually something interesting. The frog scene was interesting from a design and direction standpoint, but the actual narrative reason for that scene was dumb and unjustified.

It's an episode with some good ideas that hide the shittiness as long as you don't think about it with too much depth.

Was the foreskin monster actually meant for this episode? Where the fuck was it going to be, just some random attraction in the anti-zone?
