Reminder: the Jodie/Chibnall leaving rumour has been debunked. It came from this article which claimed S12 would air in 2019. http://www.outpostskaro.com/2018/11/17/s12-news-sooner-than-you-think-but-not-as-much-as-youd-like-six-of-the-best-or-short-changed/

Lads. If S12 is Chibnall's final series, they'd have to announce the handover well in advance. We could find out that Doctor Who has a new showrunner in the next three months

Glad to see the end of Doctor Who. I was a lifelong fan, but not anymore. What was once a great sci fi show is now a trojan horse for cultural Marxists and deviants. All I can say is thank god for Brexit. 🇬🇧

Not the anon you asked, but I dislike 13 because she doesn't stand for the same values the Doctor has been known to stand for. She liberally accepts that a corrupt system simply needs a few hierarchical reforms, allowing a young, wayward freedom fighter to die despite not understanding the situation in the very same episode. She plays into Krasko's theory that political activism, namely the rights of black people in America, is vulnerable enough to succumb to the flexibility of time, implying that not only is he right to think that preventing her from making her exact statement on that exact bus etc. would stop Parks from ever "rising up" again, but that it'd threaten the stagnation of black rights at all (he roughly says "people like you will stay in your place" once he’s dismantled the bus boycott, and the Doctor admits that "he's smart, I'll give him that"). Whittaker as an actress is the weakest of all Doctors, I don't think I'm alone in that opinion. The few moments she has been allowed to do things the Doctor would normally do – swimming to save Willa's gran, or watching over Ryan as he rides his bike in memory of Grace – are specifically thanks to what's been written in the script and have nothing to do with the performance she gives in them. To be fair, she's given absolutely nothing to work with: no points of interest, no specific traits, no layered undertones. Just quirky, fanfic-tier dialogue suited to any generic incarnation of Dr Who. Both Chibnall's depiction and Whittaker's portrayal of the Thirteenth Doctor are terrible.

D… does this episode mean that the Doctor wouldn't kill Tr*mp if she had the chance? I can't handle that possibility… 😨

Unironically peak female form

>Dr Who

What about The Major, Anderson and Maxwell?

didn't Grace die for no reason? why is the show acting like Tim Shaw killed her? she just fell off that thing that she climbed for no reason

for plot device

Who /interested in doing /who/ sings Glorious/ here? Just measuring interest.

Agreed, I think that's a problem with all of them, they all have an actual character hidden somewhere within these scripts but theres not enough given to any of them, apart from Graham I guess. So they just feel like stock companions 1, 2, and 3

File: c0eeece88d47174⋯.jpeg (14.25 KB, 354x286, 177:143, 69f.jpeg)

Oh I'm fuckin ready

I still feel like Jodie's era is just starting, like we're just beginning the season. I think it's because the companions are still fairly 2d, and nothing eventful has happened yet

the big noodley thing ended up knocking her down when she electrocuted it (?), i guess, but that wasn't tim shaw's fault. you could stretch it to be his fault if you supposed that, by bringing the technology to earth in the first place, it eventually led to grace's death and it's therefore caused by him. but you could then start applying that logic to an awful lot of stuff and start blaming people for things out of their control. "this guy got stabbed, but it's not the fault of the attacker, it's the fault of the person who made the knife in the first place" etc. ultimately, though, grace died because of her own actions. tim shaw isn't as directly responsible as the show keeps trying to pretend.

>If you kill him, you're just as bad as him

- The Doctor, talking about a character she also tried to kill

Remember how the episode re-litigated the morality of the bit where the Doctor insisted Ryan not use guns on the Sniperbots, and it turns out she only said it to "lay down the rules" because he was new?

same guy married River that was a criminal

Yeah I see this as the doctor having one rule for herself (as a being who had killed billions) and her companions (as people who have never murdered. Simply put, she didn't want to see Graham become a murderer and have to live with the knowledge that he'd killed another being.

Most of s11 felt like an episode 7 filler from the Tennant era before the Moffats and Cornells and RTDs came in with the actually good stuff. This episode went a step further and felt like an especially umimaginative Nick Briggs audio. I'm not kidding you, all the Briggs hallmarks are there: the return of a shite villain nobody cares about, humanoid aliens enslaved by said villain (bonus point for the quasi-mystical powers), a big transmitter-weapon thing threatening the Earth, a stranded human spaceship crew, shooting at robots, unengaging moral dilemmas, sci-fi clichés bonanza. This is Briggs Finish taking over the actual show.

If I hadn't been expecting something like this since Chibnall was announced, I'd probably be mad at how he managed to waste a golden occasion to relaunch the show. He was given complete freedom, more support from the BBC that Moffat or even RTD at his peak ever had, and through a mix of risk aversion and sheer lack of imagination he managed to produce something that makes Class look brilliant and innovative.

At least the non-Chibnall episodes were bearable. In fact, I thought Demons of the Punjab, Kerblam! and It Takes You Away were pretty good all things considered, though still far from the best of the previous series. But overall, it's hard to argue that Doctor Who ever showed this lack of a vision before.

assuming i'm not reading your post wrong here, what the fuck do you mean? what, exactly, is the message delivered through this disparity in particular? is it to do with the whole anti-revenge thing? because that assumes that tim shaw was responsible in the first place. every single character is of the firm belief that tim shaw killed grace, but he didn't. there is nothing in the finale or otherwise that touches upon the fact that tim shaw technically isn't responsible. they all just blame him. without any deeper thought. even though the audience watching knows that it doesn't quite add up. but again, what does that disparity add? what message does it send? what's the purpose of the characters believing something utterly different from the truth, without the show ever acknowledging that that's the case, without it ever commenting on that?

The title seemed to refer to the monster outside that took people away. However, since there WAS no monster, it referred to the mirror people, who took people away by luring them into the mirror world. It’s actually a good double-meaning title desu.

Kek actually funny b8, if obvious.

are you new here?

>Planet is transmitting waves that mess with your brain, distort reality, change moods

>Here are neural balancers to prevent it, its very important that you keep them on

Apart from the Doctor repurposing them entirely into neural blockers to stop the Ux destroying Earth, what was the purpose of this entire plot thread?

There was a big dramatic moment when 13 and Yaz took theirs off and then… nothing. The episode continues as normal. 5 minutes later the Doctor starts to get a headache so they put them back on

Apparently not THAT obvious…

whats even the fucking point of those forehead pieces if the only consequence of Thirteen and Yaz taking them off is Thirteen gets a minor headache after a few minutes

I don't mean what's the in-universe purpose. What's the storytelling purpose of introducing a problem and a solution in the first scene of the episode, telling us what the problem is rather than showing us, and then when the problem is finally "shown" at the end of the episode it doesn't even matter

[Verse 1: Macklemore]

You know it's back like it never left (it never left)

One more gap year, no Christmas ep

Another day, closer to death

The ratings fell, but it never slept

It's got a new attitude and a lease on life

Vinay and Ed Hime,

Joy and McTighe, we can sleep when it dies

TARDIS like a pigsty, grab the keys to the ride

Like Nilso's straight

The frog is gay (wish Yaz was gay)

It's on a break, Chib's running late, what can I say?

I heard you die twice, once when you get screwed by Michael Grade

And the second time is the last time that someone reads a VNA

So when the show gets laid to earth, did it take more than it gave?

Did it alchemise emboitments or was it, nyaaghn, very clichéd?

Legend, it's exodus, searching for euphoria

Trudging through the shit to find the kino, no ignoring us

Surrounded by dead bodies we're like Davison in Warriors

My Moffat told me never scare the hare, woo!

[Chorus: Skylar Grey]

I feel glorious, glorious

Got a chance to start again

I was born for this, born for this

It's who I am, how could I forget?

I made it through the darkest part of the night

And now I see the sunrise

Now I feel glorious, glorious

I feel glorious, glorious

Should I continue?

the finale at least has a great performance by Bradders. Tsuranga doesn't have anything redeeming

>allowing a young, wayward freedom fighter to die despite not understanding the situation in the very same episode

I agree that 13 not castigating Kerblam! was a serious misstep. However, it should be pointed out that Charlie was literally going to kill 100s of random people for his cause, and that possibly could include old people, young children, and even fellow workers. This wasn't a calculated attack, this was a man willing to kill innocents, and he wasn't even smart enough to recognize that he was hurting his own cause in the process. On a systemic level, Kerblam is terrible (and it murdered poor Kira mostly out of spite and brand protection, and the manager and HR was complicit by neglect, to a degree. But on an individual level, Charlie was doing horrible killings, and not even being smart about it. (His goal for more humans in Kerblam…just brings more people into life-killing jobs?) I would have seriously liked 13 to lay into Kerblam, but Charlie was no innocent (though he was a victim). Frankly, his actions wouldn't have made the system any better.

>political activism, namely the rights of black people in America, is vulnerable enough to succumb to the flexibility of time

> stagnation of black rights at all

On one hand, yes 1 woman can rarely divert the whole black rights movement. On the other hand, this is almost starting to sound Whiggish ("civil rights are inevitable progress!"), and ignores that stagnation can happen, and that stagnation might be payed for with human lives. What if Charlotte had become the bus-rights proponent instead, and the fact she was a young pregnant woman gave the opposition enough fuel to slow down black rights significantly?

>would stop Parks from ever "rising up" again

That's unlikely, but maybe it wouldn't have gotten the correct press to cause the right impact. Heck, maybe had she stayed on that bus, she would have died the next morning, or a fire would have swept through the NAACP facilities. (I specifically remember that at least one piece of legislation in history has been effected by several proponents dying in the Titanic.)

>The few moments she has been allowed to do things the Doctor would normally do – swimming to save Willa's gran, or watching over Ryan as he rides his bike in memory of Grace – are specifically thanks to what's been written in the script and have nothing to do with the performance she gives in them

Her performance of the script has nothing to do with her performance? I don't mean to be glib, what do you mean?

>To be fair, she's given absolutely nothing to work with: no points of interest, no specific traits, no layered undertones.

13 is

>gives responsibility to her team

>tries to let people have their own experience wihout barging in (i.e., she lets Prem meet his brother without her involvement). Jodie plays these moments of quiet very well.

>enjoys newness, both in experiences and friends, and will get excited for both

>babbles out loud when thinking

>likes building tech on the fly

>dislikes unnecessary violence (don't kick an enemy when they're down or surrendering)

>often psychoanalyzes enemies in order to defeat them

>dislikes when someone relies on violence as a main solution

>often communicates her disgust with a glare ("Don't threaten me", her silently angry glare at Hanne's dad)

I thought Yoss was fun and Pting was a meme material. There's close to nothing redeeming in this finale for me

the bit at the start with "Ranskoor av kolos?" was weird because I thought they'd be used to alien names now

We all know that already anon.

The real question is, will Chibnall continue after the 2020 series considering he makes comments about being overworked so early in his tenure.

>I agree that 13 not castigating Kerblam! was a serious misstep. This is consistently very contradictory.

<stagnation of black rights at all

>On one hand, yes 1 woman can rarely divert the whole black rights movement. On the other hand, this is almost starting to sound Whiggish ("civil rights are inevitable progress!"), and ignores that stagnation can happen, and that stagnation might be payed for with human lives. What if Charlotte had become the bus-rights proponent instead, and the fact she was a young pregnant woman gave the opposition enough fuel to slow down black rights significantly?

Stagnation can happen, but Krasko coming from the 79th century or whatever it was implies that that stagnation is carried through over many, many centuries, across the universe. Rosa Parks' impact in the bus boycotts is implied to have been a singular deterministic event rather than a planned and considered statement for civil rights, as it's known to have been (it's also known it would have been carried out regardless of whether Parks' boycott had been successful or not.) "Slowing down black rights significantly" ≠ preventing the rights of black people entirely (thus "keeping them in their place" as Krasko believes).

<would stop Parks from ever "rising up" again

>That's unlikely, but maybe it wouldn't have gotten the correct press to cause the right impact. Heck, maybe had she stayed on that bus, she would have died the next morning, or a fire would have swept through the NAACP facilities. Thoughts on Occam's Razor?

>Her performance of the script has nothing to do with her performance? I don't mean to be glib, what do you mean?

Swimming to save Willa's gran was written as part of the script. Whittaker did not do that of her own accord. I'm not praising her chosen form of swim stroke, I'm praising the very fact that she swam to save the character in the first place, just the same as I'm not praising Whittaker for the way she dramatically stood in the scene where she watches over Ryan, but the fact that she watched over him at all.

I watched the finale twice and I still don't understand what the fuck happened

is there anything redeemable left about chibnall

I'd rather have 2 series of Chibnall and a gap year instead of 3. In fact I'd rather there is no Who until 2021.

That scene where the guy is threatening 13 with his gun is a fucking rip off from World Enough and Time.

Chibnall truly is a hack fraud.

Interesting that she was acting nervous as fuck there, but didn't flinch when Manish had her at the end of a barrel in Demons.

the fact he's leaving

Look at me, I’m Gallifrey Immigrant. Series 11 is good. Poo poo pee pee.

Briggs back voicing the Daleks is the only thing that can save Chinball's run.

remember when there was those weird pilot fish things that showed up every year?

they were quite neat

i miss them

Was It Takes You Away kino? I liked it and it was the only time Jodie felt like the Doctor in all of Series 11.

>Just actually and instinctively shouted "oh fuck off" at Doctor Who so this is going well.

Sounds like Sandifer's HATING the ep

I wouldn't say it's GOAT Tier but it's probably low Top Tier

It was shit but it was the best of the series.

recruitment for BF

Most of the Doctors are hypocrites. 13 reminds me of 10 in that their hypocritical-ness is never acknowledged. They're just as hypocritical as their other incarnations but there are rarely any ramifications

It's particularly bad with 13 because it just happens so casually and so often. 13 being a hypocrite is more of an arc than anything else in S11

>Nick Briggs retweeted the Resolution trailer

He's back.

>This is consistently very contradictory.

How so?

>Rosa Parks' impact in the bus boycotts is implied to have been a singular deterministic event rather than a planned and considered statement for civil rights

Good point.

>Swimming to save Willa's gran was written as part of the script. Whittaker did not do that of her own accord.

But Whittaker did perform the script. She's the one who chose the facial expressions that showed 13's mental struggles over saving the grandmother.

> just the same as I'm not praising Whittaker for the way she dramatically stood in the scene where she watches over Ryan, but the fact that she watched over him at all.

But Whittaker is the one who performed the stand. Also, that scene where 13 stood to watch Ryan's bike riding is distinctly 13–she actually took time to stick around and watch, a trait that gets continued when 13 helps the funeral in Tsuranga Conundrum.

>Charlie was no innocent

>(though he was a victim).

I agree that he wasn't an innocent. He had already killed people and was planning to kill more to get his point across. I also agree that he was the victim of a corrupt and dystopic system not terribly dissimilar to the one we currently live under, and that elevates his innocence – just as Islamic fundamentalists or Irish rebels feel the need to use violence to reinforce their points, whether right or wrong, there is justification in that they are pressured to do so and that liberalism will prevent action from being taken there. See "the system is not the problem; the way people use and exploit the system is the problem. The people like you." The Doctor, rather than stepping in to fight for a just cause as well as preventing a person from committing genocide, puts the blame on the victim of an oppressive capitalistic regime with striking resemblance to the one she had dismantled less than a year ago in her previous incarnation. My point there was that this Doctor does not stand for the values the Doctor always has. Any single one of them would have saved Charlie from making a catastrophic mistake and gone on to help him fully reform (not even necessarily overthrow!) the system that causes the working class to remain powerless, the system which causes the working class to resort to murder to attain the power needed for change. There's a whole political debate there in itself, but even putting that aside, there's no denying that the Doctor "had no right!" (in her own words) to pressure Charlie into dying in that explosion. Graham offers Charlie the chance to come back to them, to which he staggers forward slightly. 13 then angrily suggests this is his "last chance", to which he falters and asks what's happening. The whole scene is fucked.

>But Whittaker did perform the script. She's the one who chose the facial expressions that showed 13's mental struggles over saving the grandmother.

>But Whittaker is the one who performed the stand. Also, that scene where 13 stood to watch Ryan's bike riding is distinctly 13–she actually took time to stick around and watch, a trait that gets continued when 13 helps the funeral in Tsuranga Conundrum.

I'm going to have to rephrase again aren't I. I'm not commending the facial expressions Whittaker made before or after she swam, and I'm not commending the way she swam. I'm not praising the way she performed the stand. I'm praising the very fact that the Doctor did those things in print in the scripts of The Woman Who Fell to Earth and The Witchfinders. It's like praising a specific moment of a book. (This isn't to say I think her facial expressions etc. that you mention were poor; I don't think she's a bad actor, I just don't think she's good enough for the role. And that's besides the point: those facial expressions and the like weren't what made me like the things I'm praising here.)

A shitshow.

Agreed. Honestly, even just the scene where 13 actually appears to be at a bit of risk, and has to make that whole emotional confession to the Solitract, feels more like a fitting culmination to the series than this shit.

All incarnations are, some are just better at showing it than others. Empathy is the Doctor's whole "thing," and what the Doctor is and what the Doctor represents wouldn't work without that trait.

>gives responsibility to her team

All incarnations do that, and for all that 13 seems to defer a lot, it's not as though the other Doctors only did it rarely. They always give their companions stuff to do that needs to be done.

>tries to let people have their own experience wihout barging in

The Doctor having the courtesy not to supplant themselves where they're not needed isn't unique to 13.

>enjoys newness, both in experiences and friends, and will get excited for both

Again, not unique.

>babbles out loud when thinking

Wow, this is a totally novel concept for the Doctor! Absolutely brand new, never seen this before!

>likes building tech on the fly

Like every incarnation, yeah.

>dislikes unnecessary violence (don't kick an enemy when they're down or surrendering)

Like every incarnation, yeah.

>often psychoanalyzes enemies in order to defeat them

Like every incarnation, yeah.

>dislikes when someone relies on violence as a main solution

Like every incarnation, yeah.

>often communicates her disgust with a glare

God, I'm starting to see a pattern here.

Yes, she has a personality. You're right. She is definitely a character and she's definitely the Doctor, that's for sure, but is she unique? Does she have something about her personality that makes her stand out? She's a conglomerate rather than an individual, right now. At the very least, the finale did finally acknowledge a character flaw—something previously attributed to poor writing, perhaps is now supposed to be her defining trait: she's a hypocrite, above and beyond the usual. But the show never makes an effort to be critical of that, especially because all of her worst offences (see: Arachnids solution, the end of Kerblam) were treated as hero moments. The Doctor should absolutely have all of these traits you've listed, in that "generic Doctor" should be the absolute baseline, and then traits unique to that incarnation should be added on top. If anything, your lists only help to strengthen my belief that she's got nothing to define her as an individual. I wish she did, I really do. But assuming you really are Immigrant without your trip (and oh, doesn't that make me wonder what else you've been posting under the guise of anonymity?), you seem to think that all this uniqueness is apparent in the text rather than something you're forcibly projecting. And the very worst of it is, you actually get frustrated that nobody else can see it, without realising that perhaps it's because it just isn't there.

Except there was no stand in. Jenna Coleman really stood there for her back to be filmed, and she wasn't wearing a "bad wig". I still occasionally crack up thinking about listening to that podcast of someone criticising Jenna Coleman's real hair as "a bad wig"

After that finale I'm warming up to the idea of writing something 13 related in Shit Trips. What would be the best way to go about it?

wedding is a complete mess and a shit resolution

battle is a mostly boring episode but competently wraps up a few concepts presented in S11

A complete mess makes better Doctor Who than a banal streak of nothing.

nah Wedding of River Song at least has the GOAT Marigold soundtrack

>My Silence

>Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart

>The Wedding of River Song

plus it has a pretty good performance by Matt, that kino Brig tribute, Mark Gatiss under that stupid amount of makeup as the viking guy, "DOC…TOR… WHO!", and Churchill

and this is coming from someone who fucking hates that episode

Wedding is a bad finale but it is bursting at the seams with creativity and ideas and magic. It is not flat and it is not boring.

yes. It's nonsense, but at least it's creative nonsense.

Tonights ep was just boring nonsense

Wedding also completes the Nixon | Hitler | Churchill triad of Series 6 (the beginning, the middle, and the ending), in perhaps the most damning political point Moffat ever made in the show.

God, Fire Walk With Me is a weird film.

Give chibnall credit where its due. If you paid attention to the actual series theres some stuff spread out that comes to a head here.

the tsuranga connundrum had a mention of the council of the 9 planets?

>the 9 planets thing from the tsuranga episode

Can we get a supercut of every bit of 13's dialogue that is just "WHAT IS THIS? WHO IS THAT? WHAT IS THIS DOING HERE?"?

you might think thats a fucking long time

me i think thats a fucking bird

Also, 13 repeats "Ghost Monument."

Wow. Chibnall truly is a genius.

Hot take: when people say things like "Series 11 is better than a moffat series" or "Ranskoor Av Kolos is better than Wedding of River Song" what they really mean is that there were thing that they actively disliked some of Moffat's work, but dont find themselves actively disliking Chibnall's work. But that's because with Moffat's work thsre's actual meat on the bones, there's some substance to actively like or dislike.

With Series 11, a lot of people are saying "oh well at least its better than moffart" but the truth is there's just nothing there. Nothing to piss them off, but also, what is there to really enjoy?

>doesn't explain who nudged Desolation a few light years in The Ghost Monument and what made the TARDIS go there

>doesn't explain what the Timeless Child was

>no episodes until 2020 to find out

People will defend this and say things like "b-b-but Moffat did it too! Remember the Silence?"

>The BBC was happy to go on the record about the programme’s short-term future. There had been a lot of chatter about Jodie Whittaker’s second run in Series 12 being planned for a broadcast in the spring of 2020, rather than in the autumn of 2019 as everyone had originally assumed. There are these arrogant God-like figures called Great Houses (Time Lords) who fight an eternal battle known as the War in Heaven against an enemy which has only been revealed to the reader partially or in passing (it's made intentionally vague who the enemy is), but there's also plenty of other factions in the War, such as the namesake of the series, a cult / terror cell known as Faction Paradox, taking pride in anarchy and the mess they cause while also time-traveling to make an even greater mess than before. The Faction are a death cult and are there to make the Great Houses generally uncomfortable and / or disgusted.

I meant more in the content of it being a series but thank you

There are anthologies, novels, a whole audio series, comics and some hidden online material. All the material is on the Wikipedia page.

Loz brings in a war in the doctor's future. the faction appears in a few more EDAs before getting some audios written by Loz. He writes Book of the War with a few other people to go with the audios and then the spinoff novels started getting written.

This has a list of all of it in one spot

the time lords got together and wrote the faction paradox novels

This lore seems extremely deep, how have I never seen anyone outside of /who/ talk about it?

Because it's absolutely bonkers and old and expensive (HOO BOY is it expensive).

No but really, it's because of NuWho and the overwhelming majority of fans who have no idea it exists.

Absolutely fucking not. Get someone else to.

It's a spinoff of a spinoff so the audience is already very small and it's consciously written to annoy classic fans who argue about canon and whether the doctor is a virgin or not

New Who isn't canon. It's just weird fanfiction of the actual series, which ended in 1989

I'm not going to take a look at your non-canon video essay shite.

Bernice Summerfield remembers both the audio and novel versions of several events (in reality it was Big Finish adapting the books into audios but nevertheless she remembers both). Who's to say that isn't the case with the Doctor?

Then you're being intentionally close-minded, friend.

I'm as much of your friend as the VNAs are canon.

That's very kind of you to say! :)

8th doctor audios ARE canon

books arent canon

le ebin new adventures for an old doctor in any form is NOT canon

the 8 audios are worse than the 8 books and that's a FACT

if the books are so canon then why aren't they episodes hm

which only makes them more canon

What does that stand for? Alien life-form? That's what Google said it meant, but I assure you I'm human. :)

Concept: The Thick of UNIT.

The same premise as the UNIT era, but with Capaldi as the Doctor, and he's basically just acting like Malcolm Tucker. Written by Armando Ianucci.

People who think the books are canon aren't human.

hunter did you really have to google what Alf stands for

I knew it was an 80s TV show, but other than that I had no clue.

Nothing to with 80s TV.

>but ive got a ghost monument

im killing myself

Speaking of 80s TV, did you know that Doctor Who's first mass-market paperbacks were published in that era with The Adventures of K-9?

I didn't know and I don't care.

Why not? It is canon after all. Since it's a series of books. Which are canon. Books are canon.

He's right about that. /who/ cares about books.

Books are not canon, sorry. We've been over this.

If you love your books so much go read them

I don't love them, there are some bad one just like all DW material, they're just canon and that's all there is to it.

Also I have 400 or so.

You can say it all you want, books still aren't canon.

has the main series literally every referenced a novel, family of blood doesnt count because thats just stealing a story, im talking in universe are they EVER mentioned

What evidence do you have for that? Because two showrunners and maybe even three say otherwise, and I think they would know better than us.

Books aren't canon because they're not mentioned in the show. You've wasted years of your life reading what is essentially glorified fanfiction.

No chance

Except the books were referenced in Boom Town, where the events of the Ninth Doctor novel The Monsters Inside was directly mentioned. I've read that one, and seen Boom Town, and they do indeed reference each other.

That's wrong though.

god hunter you are so fucking easy to bait

How so?

don't tell him he's easy to bait, or he'll stop being baited every fucking time

Because they aren't canon?

I've just used your argument of "they have to be referenced in the show" against you, and youstill hold onto that belief. This is what people call cognitive dissonance. Oh and Martha appeared in a book first according to Tardis Wiki

New Who isn't mentioned in the show, therefore new who isn't canon

Well, I mean, I do wear those things this time of year, they suit me.

Lol nice try but you don't wear a top hat and trenchcoat

You're right, but I couldn't find a hat that looked close to the one I wear. That's the closest one there was. I do wear a coat like that though.

Even Beth is left feeling unsatisfied by series 11

You wear a fedora? A bowler? A boater?

A black Stetson brand one. Not like the one the Eleventh Doctor was wearing, it has a shorter brim than that.

God that is so fucking embarassing

Hunter literally walks around in a trenchcoat and Stetson thinking he's some noir detective

I'm dying

I also have a magnifying glass in the left-hand pocket of my coat and a pocketwatch in the right. This isn't a meme.

Hunter is an Iris fan

I don't believe you.

I wear Stetson now.

Stetsons are cool.

I bought all the remaining Wildthyme books yesterday. They should be coming soon.

How emotional did you get during tuat?

Why did Chibnall end the series with the worst ep he ever wrote?

Highly. The emotion was verge.

He was very tired. Now, after ten episodes, it's time for a break.

did you see this

Yes, it was pure kino.

And I'm pure gay

Somewhat interesting, but hardly relevant to the conversation at hand.

We're talking about Doctor Who, homosexuality is always relevant.

the real reason he's waiting until 2020 is to prepare for the US election and chibs forthcoming jack robertson arc

In Ghost Monument I liked its old school "survive on a dead planet" feel.

In Arachnids I liked grime scene and schlockiness of Jack Robertson.

In Tsuranga I liked Yoss and Pting was meme-inducing.

I can't think of anything I enjoyed in the finale, to me, unironically, it was the worst thing he has ever written. Bad design and bland music didnt help.

That's a fair point. Non-heterosexuality, and particularly homosexuality, really is baked into the essence of Doctor Who.

I don't think you understand. Chibnall wrote six episodes. He's very tired. It's time for a rest.

The exposition was particularly bad in the finale and so much of it was just walking around in the same sets. Mark Addy's character just remembering shit whenever the plot needed it to be remembered was super clunky too. Oh well. Time to travel hopefully.

I'd like to "bake" my "essence" into a certain non-heterosexual /who/re, if you know what I mean.

holy shit this is kino

Yeah the stealth prequel thing would have been SO easy to do and like Sandifer said, could have given the ep a more interesting quandary than "durr is it okay to kill the genocidal tyrant torturing people or not". But…Chibnall.

Anyone down for another Gap Year pity party in the stream tonight? I missed last night's.

Hunter irl

we can cheer up with adam ruins everything

much like capeshit, every episode just STARTED, no build up and even the ones that /did/ have build up started abruptly in the middle of said build up.

gone are the days of banter between the doctor and clara before pulling the lever and going off on an adventure, what a fucking joke

I thought the delay was because they couldn't schedule Bradley Walsh soon enough. You keep saying gap year but it's only being pushed back 2-3 months from what it originally would be

No. I want a pity party.

series 2 got torrented apparently

that's true, 3 months is still a long time though

Come on, cheer up, there's always tomorrow!

Because iview is only available in australia and the episodes will eventually be taken down and lost to time otherwise

I don't even know what you're talking about.

>Chibnall gets 2 extra months to work on scripts and do more drafts

>series 12 will still be just as shit as series 11

And I say that as a fan who hasn't watched the whole season yet

>but you'll get it next time, don't worry man!

that anon (who could easily be a woman) got it THIS time. why are you talking about a next time?

2016 /who/ was a very different time, was just after a series most loved, had a series coming that people were relatively enthused for, had a spinoff, and was in a general still being bolstered by certain things. 2019 /who/ is going to be different, I imagine.

time for bookchads to take over /who/ and indoctrinate some moffags with the word of loz
