chibnall is going to stay the course for s12

the feedback is going to show that people who've watched all of nuwho or most-to-all of classic who thought s11 was shit, but casuals who either never watched it or only vaguely paid attention with tennant thought it was good. bbc studios will see this and think "okay we should focus on the people who liked it" thus completely blotting out all of the criticism and doubling down. if s12 is an improvement in any way, has more of an arc/finale or other basic things, it will only be because it was already in the Five Year Plan rather than because people dragged S11 for not doing them

>So far, from the first eight episodes, series 11 of Doctor Who has averaged a 4-screen consolidated audience of 8.4m.

>The Hitler of Angela's world, and by extension the ones from most of the other worlds, called his political philosophy "fascism". There were many appealing aspects to it; it was a dictatorship, an emphasis was placed on the fatherland, there was a powerful military and ruthless suppression of the weak. To many of the rich and powerful in other countries, though, there was a specific attraction to the creed. Every nation, to one extent or another, was in the throes of a workers' uprising. A "class war", as it was known. You are nodding your heads now, remembering the reference to Spartacus. Yes, indeed. As you have recalled, that escaped gladiator led a slave revolt, managing to rally 90,000 slaves and other disaffected working men to his cause. In almost all of the Germanias, Hitler's National Socialist Party had a pathological hatred of these militant workers, the "communists". This world, then, was one turned upside-down, one where Hitler ruled the communists. Here, Hitler modelled himself on Spartacus, perhaps unaware of the fate of the man and his followers.

So this is the power of Lance Parkin

'I wanted to build a utopia,' he told me. 'An ideal society where the workers owned the factories they worked in. Not the old families, not the banks, not the Jews. You see, if you were a German, you'd have been made to read Mein Kapital at school, you'd understand what I am saying. I see your scepticism, but you have to admit it was working, yes? Everyone with a job, with a sense the nation was right. I was expecting the other countries to fight, even if it meant they'd take on Russia, too. We were like Spartacus, yes?'

I raised an eyebrow. Indeed, it certainly sounded as if he were a traitor and a criminal. What deviant society, though, could model itself on such a man?

I consider myself on the left. I'm definitely in opposition to the president. He's so blatantly and openly corrupt, and such a slimeball. There's a line that you're crossing when you're separating children from their parents. That fueled a lot of the fire.

I bought a pickax at the Home Depot in Glendale. I concealed it in a guitar case, and I went down to the star. I put on some headphones; I was listening to Death Grips, which is some high-energy, ridiculous music. It gave me the energy I needed to tear through the star.

I'd heard from a lot of people that a sledgehammer was the right tool for the job, but the pickax worked. Rocks were flying up in my face. I'm really not at liberty to say. [A spokesperson for De Niro denied that he had any association with Clay.—Ed.]

Three days later, I got another call: “Don't be alarmed, but we're the Secret Service, and we're coming to your house.” So I went outside, and I just see these two suits that are walking toward me. I walk over to meet them, and they're like, “We're the Secret Service,” and they flash their badges. But they kind of thought it was funny. I didn't harm anyone; I didn't commit a violent act. After we got to talking, one of them gave me a high five.

But desu I don't even think kids care about Sonic anymore. Or even know who he is. What was the last Sonic game that was well-received critically and financially? I'm 21 and if I didn't have Sonic Advance 3 on my Gameboy as a kid I don't think I'd really know anything about Sonic. when the time lords granted the doctor more regenerations on trenzalore, they rewrote history. Name takes place in the timeline where the time lords did not grant regenerations. those events were unwritten, but can still be remembered by the people who were there to experience it.

The bigger question is, given this, how was a post-library river song there when that takes place in a timeline where 12 didn't exist, yet at that point in her life river had met 12?

I hate the prequels but it doesn't matter. George Lucas earned the right to do whatever the fuck he wanted for the rest of his life in 1977. Or another example is Ringo Starr. I don't know if his solo work is good or bad (the only solo song of his I know off the top of my head I like but iirc it was written by George) but that doesn't matter. He was in The Beatles.

I would want the flag to stay the same, I interperat the union jack as reperesenting the United Kingdom (~1901) not the current country called the United Kingdom (2018). The jack on the flag is a symbol of our past, not a reference to a modern nation.

that makes sense. I wonder if other countries would feel the same way. I was thinking about the brexit thing because I saw a youtube video about when New Zealand tried to change it's flag to the all-blacks leaf thing.

The UK might not want to change their flag too, but the scottish would probably not like it if they were still on britain's flag after they left. I don't know about whether Irish people care about the red X though, or if they see it as a british symbol anyway. (I'm sure flags are boring to most people, but I've been thinking about this stuff recently)

Torchwood was progressive HD from day 1, but Blu-rays of 1-3 are 60i conversions on both sides of the pond. They did also have some trouble with the HD cameras at the time, learning curve and all that. It's really apparent in the darker scenes in earlier episodes of season 1, made all the worse by a frame-estimated conversion to 60i.

Miracle Day was released in the correct 24p in the US but for some strange reason the BBC stuck with 50i (4% speed-up) for the UK market. If only they'd been penny-pinching on that occasion and using the US masters there.

Hunter, look. You are an 18 year old kid with a troubled history of not fitting in with communities, spanning back years. The same troubles you had when you were 16 seem to still apply today, going by what you said recently. It appears that you have been so worn down by this constant rejection that your response to it is to just continue acting the same way regardless because negative attention is preferable to no attention. But that approach means that you are constantly faced with even more hostility, which I can only imagine further degrades your mental state.

This is not the way to get people to start liking you. For your own self improvement you need to leave, and get your shit sorted out in real life. See a therapist, make friends at college, go to some community sport group to meet new people. /who/ is a bad influence in your life.

Doctor Who treats east-asian characters very well though. Some of my favourite characters are Chantho (a very honourable and submissive lady) and the fortune teller from teller from Turn Left (a mystical but sneaky character) Both actresses, Chipo Chung and Chipo Chung respectively played their roles excellently, and I'm glad Doctor Who can't be accused of only hiring one east asian actress over the course of multiple seasons.

 No.170568

I loved the episodic approach to this season. The show had gotten far to up its own rear trying to be high drama which, frankly, Doctor Who has never excelled at. I’ve loved each iteration of the Doctor in New Who for their own reasons and I’ve like most storylines if not all.

But for me it was relaxing to just enjoy the Adventures of Doctor Who and Friends each week. I guess what you’re calling shallow I’m calling fun

 No.170575

To be fair, 9's theme is just called "The Doctor's Theme". But "The Doctor Forever" for 10, "I am the Doctor" for 11, "A Good Man" for 12, even BF have "I'm not the Doctor" for the Warrior.

 No.170576

>>170572

To expand on this:

It's not procedural, procedurals can be good.

It's not capeshit, capeshit can be good.

It's not episodic, episodic can be good.

It's just bad Who by numbers.

 No.170577

Better to not bother than to try and fail.
