What was exactly wrong with Matt Smith?

I know /who/ and others give him a hard time and even I never really got much into him myself as I did with Eccleston and Tennant, but he wasn't that horrible.

Was he?

 No.1739

I'm not sure if it's really his fault. The writing changed a lot around the time he came in.

His spergyness

 No.1754

When you combine that he was the most childish and off-the-wall Doctor of all time, and that NuWho was already getting witchtrialed for acting too trendy and modern by hardcore fans, the two look directly related and it's easy to just go "SMITH MADE WHO TRENDY TUMBLRTIER BULLSHIT".

They let that overshadow the fact that he was an A+ Doctor.

Basically, when people say they hate Smith, deep down, they mean that they hate Moffat, Tumblrfans and/or NuWho.

Exactly. Smith's era may have been flawed, but Smith himself is great.

I found him much harder to get into than Eccleston and Tennant, it took me a whole season. Just too young, I guess.
Now I think he was really good, though.

I like him.

I have no problems with Smith.
I guess people just werent used to change when he came arround so they gave him a hard time.

Not really. It seems to fit him.

 No.1857

I actually really miss him now he's gone. I was very comfortable with him by the end, and they gave him a fantastic send-off.

If I pull that off, would you die?

Matt himself is fine. He's a decent actor, and in certain episodes, the Doctor really shone through. Problem was with the writing, the constant one-upsmanship that the crew had against old who. When Matt signed in Who was really starting to hit the mainstream, and it shit up the writing. Shame they couldn't let Matt really hit the full potential.

Matt himself was great, but sometimes the writing was less than good. He was actually my Doctor, because he seemed so happy all the time, and had some of my favourite episodes.

The one thing I hate about when Matt was Doctor, was how Amy and Rory was sent off. Killed by Angels, just like that? They both deserved far better, especially Rory.
