 No.187525

"nilsos gay" originally caught on as a meme because people had the impression that it was silly and ironic with no seriousness involved

when people realised that the main pushers of it had genuine malicious intent towards nilso to try and intimidate him to leave, all but those malicious people stopped using it, and now it's no longer held in a positive regard. especially now that it's evolved beyond the silly phrase and gone into extensive roleplaying, it's morally reprehensible. It comes off more as reeing that nilso hasn't left yet than anything, and frankly it's embarrassing to watch.

 No.187526

 No.187640

>>187637

Moffat's episodes are already clusterfucks when they're told linearly, I feel like choose-your-own-adventure versions of them would be nonsensical. RTD would have a lot of fun with it. Chibnall would play it safe as fuck and rely on the structure/format to make it interesting rather than the content itself

 No.187642

>>187640

Moffat does have a tendency to try and fit in lots of ideas into a single story, perhaps a choose-your-own-adventure type story could work in his favour.

Allow him to dive deep into all these ideas under the umbrella of a single story without it feeling cramped

 No.187645

>>187643

Yeah but something like The Wedding of River Song didn't work because all those ideas couldn't be connected or explored fully within a single 45 minute long episode.

In a Bandersnatch-esque 5 hours of footage type thing, he'd have the space to develop, explore, and connect several ideas in depth

Jane is on blind date with Oliver Morris (Richard Mylan), the owner of a science fiction bookshop. Through Susan and Steve, who are arguing about the similarities between the John Hurt moment and birth, mistake him for a gynaecologist. Burning Question = how did Our Jodes (and her clothes) avoid burning up on re-entry, again, remind me? Avoided the ground by being distracted at the very last minute by a train load of aliens? Ohhhh… kay then. And off we go: Theme = shite. (Twenty better themes on youtube, most by the same guy, who should be doing it for the show but won't be asked because he's not black, or gay or a woman or a lesbian or disabled or a moose or a sentient robot, in any combination.) Incidental music… can't remember a single note/tone/whatever, and I only finished the episode 20mins ago. Gallery of Ethnocentric Guest Stars = waste of airtime. Script = dull. Acting = ho hum. (Best performance = the guy on the crane. Actually funny. Good job. Shame he's not in the regulars.) Photography = good. Lighting = OK. Editing = questionable. Direction = expended wastefully on everything but the cast. (Except the guy on the crane.) Script = dull. Alien space pod looks like a Homebase flower vase. Sonic is a dildo made of spoons. (So many spoons there's no room for a battery.) Menacing alien… there was a menacing alien? Character with any brains or sense at all… dear GOD did I miss them too?! Script = dull! And uneducational! (Except, wait! Apparently people suffering from dispraxia can climb 300 foot high cranes, At night! In the rain!! Ooooh, no, but wait (again), he did, like drop his torch and shit, so my bad.) Did I say: Script dull dull dull dull FUCKING USELESS and DULL? Summing up: threat level to any character at all = nil; threat level to my sanity = high. Best spin = the shiny new widescreen format means there's 25% less Dr Who to watch each week. (Although the shiny new widescreen format means each episode is probably costing at least 25% more to make.) Ranking: This Episode Ranks About As Highly As… A Dildo Made of Spoons! Do We Care? No - because it's FUCKING DOCTOR WHO AND WE FUCKING LUV IT, HURRAH!!!! See You Same Time, Same Channel Next Week… where we'll have missed the start cos it's already been changed! OK - over to You Lot for my ASS KICKING, which I truly hope will be GLORIOUS!

I like Segun's theme but it draws so much from the original theme and the only bad things about it are the additions Segun made (the drum track is horribly mixed and is just a 4-bar loop that goes out of sync with the melody by the second loop).

Compare it to Gold's theme for Series 1 that samples the Derbyshire theme while still feeling like a fresh and new take on the theme and having it's own identity.

Half the time it would be normal person talk, then every so often she would go on a weird Doctor-like ramble for one or two sentences but she'd deliver it the same way she had delivered all her normal human dialogue and it sounded off to me.

>In the 21st century revival of Doctor Who, the Doctor has been depicted as a sexual and occasionally flirtatious being, and he has referred to himself as having been a father (in TV: The Empty Child, Fear Her and The Doctor's Daughter), so the notion of him also being a grandfather is generally no longer considered an issue. In the 2013 episode TV: The Rings of Akhaten, the Doctor, for the first time since the revival began, explicitly states that he has a granddaughter.

http://whatculture.com/tv/every-doctor-who-finale-ranked-worst-to-best

>The return of Gallifrey was confusing and undone much of the goodwill of the 50th anniversary special while the need to resolve Clara's arc in a positive way took up much of the focus. Having her end arrive in Face the Raven would have been a much more fitting and altogether shocking conclusion that would have added to the stakes of the finale. Unfortunately, there were also a lot of inconsistencies similar to the finale of the previous season. Having The Doctor kill someone was a very shocking moment, but not in a good way. The ethos of The Doctor had always been not to kill, so having Capaldi go against this just to serve the confusing plot was a sign of bad writing. The ending felt needlessly happy; having Clara go off in her own TARDIS was an interesting idea but due to her revival feeling unearnt her survival felt equally unearnt.

<The final finale of Davies' run on the show was one of his very best episodes, let alone finales. Journey's End brought together all of The Doctors greatest companions for one cataclysmic confrontation with Davros and the Daleks. The stakes were as high as they'd ever been and the tension in the episode reflected that. The twist revolving around Donna was a stroke of genius. The constant reiteration of how ordinary Donna was all lead towards her becoming the most extraordinary being in the universe: The Doctor Donna. This allowed her to defeat the Daleks and save Earth. While the concept of the companion being the one that saves The Doctor was beginning to get a little old, Catherine Tate's fantastic performance kept this idea fresh. From there, almost every side character had their arcs satisfyingly resolved, particularly Rose whose romance with The Doctor spanned all four seasons. While this acted as a satisfying conclusion for almost everyone, it was only the beginning of the end for The Doctor himself. The finale acts as a fitting ending and a tease of what's to come better than perhaps any episode in the show making it a truly memorable episode.

 No.188264

The Ghost Monument is the worst because it was the important 2nd episode. The one to keep the momentum from the premiere, the first real adventure for the new tardis team, the one that would give us a taste of what the average Chib episode would be - no introduction of a new doctor/companions, no introducing a new series/era, just a fresh more or less standalone, regular episode.

And we're given an episode that has not so much a plot as a series of barely connected "moments" with little to no stakes, two random characters who get more development than the companions, and it ends with the Doctor giving up hope for literally no reason. We've seen his version of Earth in the first episode, The Ghost Monument is how Chibnall introduces the rest of the universe.

Worst of all, it's redundant. If at the end of TWWFTE they just teleported into the tardis, then immediately landed in 1950's Alabama the next episode absolutely nothing of value would be lost. You can watch them in any order yes, but you can skip right the fuck over The Ghost Monument and not only do you not miss anything, the series is improved for it.
