The part in Rosa where it gave The Doctor and Graham, the two white leads being uncomfortable about being on the bus almost as much importance as Rosa Parks actually doing the thing

Day /who/ / night /who/ was always complete and utter nonsense. /who/ has never been dominated by one country or timezone; there's always been a large amount of both Americans and British, and a significant amount of consistent Australian posters. Completely imaginary. Honestly, people just liked any sort of excuse to dub some arbitrary times of /who/ to be better than others. Not surprised it fell by the wayside as the ridiculousness of it became more apparent as people became more open with what countries and timezones they were from.

 No.221286

>>221285

I disagree, don't think it's complete nonsense. /who/ was a lot larger back then since it was part of a main 4chan board, where American and British posters were a massive majority. You underestimate the amount of non-regular "boardies" we would get during the day time in American/British timezones, it's not like now where we have a very closed-off community of only tight-knit regulars. There was absolutely a cycle of "uptimes" and "downtimes" as far as posting frequency and user volume, "/night/ who" (which is basically the overlapping time of when Americans were asleep and Brits were working/in school) was noticeably slower back then, just like it was on a lot of areas of 4chan. Nowadays we have a much smaller community, but even here our janitor has pointed out that there is a noticeable time of the day where posting volume and activity is most frequent. The actual discussion of quality between the "uptimes" and "downtimes" is another thing entirely and not what I'm arguing, but I think it's untrue to state that there has never been a noticeable pattern of activity and inactivity throughout /who/story.

 No.221287

>>221286

I have been using /who/ since before it was even called /who/; I'm not some post S10 new user guessing and judging what the past might've been like. The differences in "quality" have always been placebo and self-sustained circlejerks. There are more and less active times but they don't map exactly to a universal day and night because that doesn't track with the varied timezones that use /who/. The old gif you posted, saying day /who/ was full of circlejerks, etc, is the ridiculous line of thought.

When Jodie Whittaker debuted as the Thirteenth Doctor on Christmas Day 2017, the first words she said were, "Oh brilliant!" Series 11 was nothing but brilliant in my opinion. The episodes were great, the main cast were awesome. As for Resolution, it's my favourite Dalek TV story! Chris Chibnall, Matt Strevens, Jodie Whittaker, if you're reading this: keep the stories coming. I'm looking forward to more of this fantastic era of Doctor Who.

Good ep, I'll accept this is better than several episodes of S10.

As for the rest, the absolute best thing any of those eps achieve is being a mildly pacy runaround with some jokes in. And I'm being generous here, because Kerblam has an embarrassing mess of an ending, Rosa is shallow, and TWWFTE is just an hour of shit.

Even when Moffat was completely burnt out, a harmless romp episode under him would still have - at baseline - a more interesting interpretation of the show and its own characters than anything in S11. Chibnall isn't trying.

>built on diversity and inclusion

You mean the series where Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King barely had any lines in a story about the civil rights movement?

Where the grief over losing Grace is delivered almost exclusively through the white guy who knew her for 3 years instead of her black grandson Ryan, who knew her his whole life and was practically raised by her?

Where the female POC companion has little to no lines over the course of the entire series, not even in the episode about her heritage

Where it was heralded as the series to "feature LGBTQ+ representation and characters "from across the spectrum"" but the only times a homosexual relationship was explicitly present it was through a few seconds of dialogue and directly connected to one or both of the people in the relationship dying

I'm not saying it was actually a series built on virtue signalling, but they need to do better if this is their idea of "diversity and inclusion"
