Okay so that's the correct video linked, but the hardcoded top caption describing the viewer's choice at the top incorrectly describes the choice taken. I'll fix this by uploading an otherwise identical video but with the top caption fixed, then redirecting the choice leading to that (from "No, stick to this path" aka the third segment of the positive path) to that new video.

Just a case of an incorrect caption at the top. Still the correct video linked. The path is still intact. Won't be a mo!

File: 19050188857743d⋯.jpg (268.01 KB, 1309x755, 1309:755, endscreens.jpg)

YouTube endscreens are limited to 20 seconds maximum length (and that length must be counted backwards from the very ending of the video), can only link to specific things, and can't have customisable text beyond the specific videos or channels they link to. There's also not endless freedom with where you can position them on the screen, and at what size.

YouTube annotations were more like customisable text you could make link to anything, appear whenever and for how long, be different sizes, etc. They were often annoying, and I'm sure YouTube was aware of how spammy some people got with them when they mandated getting rid of them and instating the a lot more rigid endscreens instead.

Amending, there are a few other tracks in Mirrors' thing too. For the record those track listing in the video descriptions were purely a case of "why not?" and theoretically for anyone wanting to pursue some of the music. The songs themselves are often identified with YouTube's ContentID service, and you can see those attributions below the video description.

I don't think it really matters if it was abridged or not, I think the fact that Vinay said "I want to do a story on X, but I'm not sure if anyone's done something on that subject so I'll ask around instead of carrying on and potentially ruining work someone put into something that I care about". It's nice for someone to be so considerate in that way.

Yeah they normally only grab one, and it's normally just lyrical music too, but I've had some videos where they identify a few things. It's a pretty haphazard system. I'm not too fussed, they claim the copyright but let your videos stay up, so 🤷 More problematic is video - I had a lot of videos auto-denied for using too much direct video content, and had to work around that in different ways.

so it's easy to see where the confusion came from, and what lead RTD to use "rels" for Dalek countdowns in "Evolution of the Daleks" and "Journey's End". But if you go back to the movie, those lines are preceded by

>Rel counter is now set at zero.

To me, this is slightly ambiguous: a "rel counter" might just be a clock, or a rel is something different, anything that (for those Daleks at that specific time, at least) was constantly increasing and could be measured.

It's a subtle and fundamentally pedantic difference, but I think it exists. You might tell someone "Run when you hear the third whistle blow", but you'd never say that "whistle blows" are a unit of time.

And then, in the only prose usage of "rels" that I could find prior to NuWho, Terry Nation himself defined the term as a measure of hydro-electricity in pic related. This seems goofy in light of the prior examples, but considering how important electricity is to the Daleks in the early stories, with how they need to be powered by special static electricity walkways etc, I think it almost makes sense. If all Daleks were absorbing power from their walkways at the same rate, it would be plausible for them to coordinate based on shared observations of their energy consumption, or some such. Hence a plausible explanation for the countdowns in RTD's era.

God, that is by far the most asinine explanation I've ever written.

>The timeless child, mentioned by the flying rags in the story "The Ghost Monument" was intended as a reference to another story that would follow it in that season (where the Doctor and crew would indeed discover that there's something timeless hidden at the very centre of the child), but the script for this other story was eventually dropped and replaced with "nothing". The reference to it in "The Ghost Monument" wasn't, and will forever remain unanswered (even in the Expanded Universe).

I often get a sense that Chibnall writes the Doctor as this ridiculously moralistic figure who's unreasonably nice to everyone, but does not actually agree with or particularly care about the ethics he's giving her as long as it "fits the show". The guy wrote some of the edgiest Torchwood episodes, for fuck's sake. I refuse to believe he actually thinks that Graham killing Tim would make him as bad as Tim (or that sealing him in a stasis chamber for eternity is somehow much better), or that the Doctor wasn't being a dick in the "DONT SHOOT ROBOTS" debacle, or that it's actually accurate/appropriate to refer to a Dalek who came to Earth in order to subjugate it as a "refugee" just because Skaro happened to be destroyed/whatever in the interim.

He's just utterly uninterested in probing these things he must know are stupid, and I think it stems from him taking somewhat of a dim view of both the show and its audience.

 No.224751

A Dalek could in theory be a refugee, if it actually fit the definition of refugee i.e. it was forced to flee its home and take refuge somewhere else, because its original location was unsafe. The Dalek in Resolution categorically fails to meet these criteria. Its attempted hostile takeover of the Earth is much more comparable to a settler-colonial project.

Most Daleks would probably also fail purely because they only really go places with the intention of killing others, rather than worrying too much about protecting themselves.

How many times does 13 sincerely tell someone "I'm sorry"? Let's find out.

The Woman Who Fell To Earth

>DOCTOR: Looks like it took one of his teeth. What sort of creature kills someone and then stops to pull out a tooth? I'm sorry you all had to see this.

>GRACE: I'll find something to cover the body.

>DOCTOR: Thank you, Grace. I'm sorry any of this is happening. I'm sorry that thing on the train planted these bombs inside you, and I'm sorry I haven't figured out what's going on yet.

The Ghost Monument

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry. I've failed you. I promised you and I let you down.

Rosa

>GRAHAM: (sotto) I'm so ashamed. (normal) You shouldn't have to do this.

>DOCTOR: I agree. I'm sorry, Ryan.

>GRAHAM: No, no, no, I don't want to be part of this.

>DOCTOR: We have to. I'm sorry. We have to not help her.

'Arachnids in the UK

>JADE: My God, Anna.

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry.

>JADE: She's suffocating. She's got too big to breathe efficiently. Even moving around in here, it's using up what little oxygen she can absorb. She won't survive for long. She's more scared of us than we are of her.

>DOCTOR: I'm so sorry this has happened to you.

The Tsuranga Conundrum

>GRAHAM: No, hold on. I've found something!

>(The Doctor uncovers it, to reveal red flashing lights on what looks like a land mine.)

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry.

>DOCTOR: You're right. Of course you're right. I'm sorry. That mine hit me harder than I thought.

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry, Mabli, but it's down to us to get us safely back to Resus One now.

>MABLI: Is he really gone?

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry, Mabli.

>DOCTOR: Your slow pulse, my really good hearing. You asked Ronan for some. It isn't corton fever, is it. Is it pilot's heart? I'm sorry, Eve, but if we're going to survive this, you need to be honest with me.

Demons of the Punjab

>ALIENS: As the assassins hunted, the Thijarian world was destroyed. We returned to find nothing. This is all that remains of our home. Our people. Every ancestor. All one dust.

>(The Doctor copies their gesture of one palm across the back of the other hand.)

>DOCTOR: I didn't know. I'm so sorry.

>YASMIN: Umbreen loses her husband on the day she marries. Of course she never wants to talk about it.

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry, Yaz. We should leave.

Kerblam!

NO EXAMPLES! She says "Sorry, what's your name?" to Judy, but for this I didn't count any times when she just casually said "Sorry" mid-conversation.

The Witchfinders

>WILLA: Is she alive?

>(Yasmin checks for a pulse in her neck and shakes her head.)

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry.

>DOCTOR: No, that's the… not mud. Some sort of alien matter filling her body and re-animating it. So it is pretty sentient. I am so sorry for this, Willa.

It Takes You Away

>HANNE: She died.

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry to hear that. You must miss her.

The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos

>DOCTOR: That creature is a lie, and he debased you and your faith. Don't you see? You are the creators. Look what you can do. You build. But he made you destroyers. That's no God. I'm sorry.

>DOCTOR: Please, please, please. No backup plan.

>(There is a fountain of sparks in the background. Delph is holding on to the ends of two cables, his eyes glowing. He is in pain.)

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry, Delph.

>ANDINIO: We sealed the building as we left. No one can get to him.

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry for the way he betrayed you.

Resolution

>MITCH: You mean it's holding her hostage?

>DOCTOR: I'm really sorry, Mitch, I think it's crueller than that. I think it's using her to move about.

>AARON-MUTANT: You underestimate me, Doctor. Daleks survive.

>RYAN: Doctor, do something!

>DOCTOR: I'm sorry, Aaron. I miscalculated.

Thoughts on Aladin?

 No.224866

I'll make it very simple and clear: Captain Marvel is really worth a watch. It's just entertaining and visually impressive, exactly what it was meant to be.

Just keep this in mind that it's an origin story so don't go looking for an overstuffed complex story. It's just a fun action movie that introduces us to a new superhero Captain Marvel, played brilliantly by Brie Larson. I became an instant fan watching her in this action heroine avatar, something she manages to pull off with ease. Watch her in the action sequences and there's no way you can't be impressed. Viewers were literally cheering for some of the most heroic moments in the film. Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury is as awesome as always, it's just that his character feels even better and refined than what we've seen. Jude Law is also quite good, and so are Ben Mendelsohn and Lashana Lynch.

But the one character that ultimately steals the show is Goose, the cat. Some of the sequences involving her are so hilarious that it was really difficult to stop laughing.

Visual effects are excellent, and the IMAX 3D viewing just elevated them. And since it's most importantly an action movie, every single action sequence it delivers is impressive, especially the train sequence. I would call it one of the major highlights of the movie. Cinematography in certain portions is really impressive. Humor, like any other MCU movie, is top notch and really manages to make you laugh.

Captain Marvel has a simple-looking origin story presented and executed in a terrific manner. The directors have done a great job with the characterization of Captain Marvel, and that is what makes everything in the film seem so good. The pace is brisk, gore is minimal to no, and there's nothing unsuitable for kids.Don't copy and paste this part, and make sure to forward and link all posting to mediaproofings@disney.com to obtain your deposit.

Jafar and Aladdin both look absolutely terrible, neither of them seem to be able to deliver a line with any sort of emotion. Jafar is the least menacing person I've ever seen in my life. I have no idea how this is going to work with such lifeless performances from the hero and villain.
