That's not melodramatically, the RTD/Moffat era did end. It is effectively a different show now. All new cast. All new people running it, apart from some minor (still hard workers, but not creatively influential) crew members. The premise of the show is already vague enough that different executions of it don't have to feel similar at all. This is all true for NewWho compared to earlier, Classic, eras too of course, but the difference is, well, RTD/Moffat Who was a lot better than ChibWho lmao

 No.236759

>>236758

RTD/Moff Who is the peak of Doctor Who to me. Classic Who is great and all, but DW reached it's peak from 2005-2017 to me. Chibnall Who is shite imho, but even a fairly good showrunner wouldn't be able to write like DW's peak. We're so lucky to have RTD and Moffat, we don't even appreciate it sometimes

that's fair, I saw both Tony Stark and Steve Roger's end coming. (not a brag, it just seemed like an obvious conclusion for both. It was actually surprising when the film was seemingly wrapping up and Steve Rogers still hadnt gone back in time to be with peggy yet)

However, I think I found Endgame a lot more satisfying than Infinity War. The main characters had a well done character arc, and while none of it really amazed me, it was a truly satisfactory conclusion to however many movies they have made at this point.

I only watched it last night, but it was good, and gave the actors plenty of time to explore their characters. That whole bit where tony stark looked like a corpse with anorexia was some of his best acting in the series.

I'm not usually in to capeshit, and this the first marvel film i saw in theatres since civil war, but honestly, I really really liked it.

Disclaimer: This is just a bit of fun, hope you like it!

As many young men find themselves the urge to please themselves, I too had found enjoyment in this. I had masturbated in the shower almost every time I took one. It became just a part of my routine: soap, shampoo, masturbate. I did this for about three years. I had never noticed any real drainage problems from built up semen or anything until today. I was taking a shower and found myself standing in still water after I’m done. I decide to wait until it drains then after the water is gone, I unscrewed the drain cover and behold, a solid block of hair and mystery substances all held together with my very own semen glue.

I instantly winced at the site. The smell that found itself protruding out was the most unbearable smell I have ever smelled in my entire life. I almost threw up. There was a small gap on the side that water must’ve seeped through to drain which would likely close up soon. I decide I must take care of this before someone else tries to take a shower and discovers my masterpiece. I grab a fork, because that was the best tool I could think of at the moment, and try to scoop the sludge out. Instead, the cheap fork I had chosen almost bends and I learned that wasn’t going to work. I needed an upgrade so I grabbed a hammer and chisel and started going at it. I also took a drill with the largest bit I had and drilled holes through the gloop so that I could break it easier. I told my family that I was just fixing the towel bar because I pulled it out of the wall to avoid any suspicions about the clatter. I work at clearing this out for about an hour. Half way through my body gave in and I heave up my dinner all over the shower so I had to clean that too.

I clear the solid just to find a new layer which is less of a solid and more of a sticky layer of the same things. Close to peanut butter. I scoop this out and then I regurgitate whatever was left in my body. After again cleaning this vomit, I discover the final layer which consists of a chunky, gray soup with hair, semen, and now my new addition of vomit at the bottom but out of reach. There was no way I was going to be able to clean this so my work would have to suffice. I put all the substance in a plastic bag to throw away. The bag must’ve weighed over five pounds. I put the cover back on and went downstairs to throw the bag away outside which is when I noticed the smell. That putrid stench had carried itself all over the house and was noticed by my mother. I told her that I had also noticed the drain was “a little clogged” so I cleared it up. She decided she’ll buy some drain cleaner tomorrow to use. I then spent the next half hour deodorizing the house with a whole can of Febreeze. I am now sitting here typing this, partially scarred and now knowing that I will be sure to tell my future kids not to jack off in the shower or else they will have to deal with the infamous gray sludge.

Just want to take a moment to thank those on this community for their extremely well articulated analysis and feedback for the show.

It's such a shit feeling when you hear your friends talk about how "epic" and "perfect" the last episode was and I'm just stuck wondering why I don't feel the same way, and if I'm just being a downer.

After the last series I was left wondering why I felt so underwhelmed and it's at least a consolation to read some of the posts here and think "YES! That's exactly how I felt" and realise I'm not the only one who had higher expectations for what used to be such an incredible show.

With the vast Youtube audience for videos like this and all the (basic) S11 critiques, Gig, you should seriously think about doing video versions of the Chibshow. Video essays, I know, I know, but it would be a great way to get it out there. The text in (eg) "sub rosa" is already basically a video effect. The boomer conventions are really nice as it's all about classic who and are pretty small so you get to talk to the guests one on one and take your time getting autographs if you didn't act awkwardly like me, I assume you got to do the same? I disagree with Thanos but I think the avengers should have had a civil discourse when Thanos instead of trying to kill him. It would have been better for them to have constructed a well thought out and reasoned argument to show why his reason is flawed instead of restoring to violence.

Both sides were using violence in the end and they're both equally bad as each other and so I don't agree with their methods. A debate would have been much better and good people on both sides could have been saved.

A well-thought-out argument wouldn't have worked. The Mind Stone is a corruptive influence: in just Avengers 1, it hypnotized Selvig, provoked Hulk into attacking the Avengers, and turned Loki from a mischief-maker into a genocidal maniac. When Tony merely touched it in Avengers 2, it gave him the vision of his friends' death that led to the creation of Ultron, and look how that turned out. In Infinity War when Thanos told Gamora he's "the only one who knows" that half the universe needs to be killed, or when he told Tony "you're not the only one cursed with knowledge", he wasn't just posturing. He possessed the Mind Stone for indefinitely long before loaning it to Loki; it had shown him visions just like it had to Tony, and it led him to believe half the universe needed to be killed just as irrefutably as Tony did that Ultron needed to be created.

While Vision was able to repress the Mind Stone's influence (though it still bothered him all the time), even he concluded that it ultimately needed to be destroyed (or rather, disintegrated into atoms, since Stones can't actually be destroyed without the timeline branching off and decaying). And if you listen to the dialogue in Infinity War, that recommendation wasn't just so the team could stop Thanos. Doctor Strange came to the same conclusion: in his 4 million outcomes, there was only one where the Avengers defeated Thanos and made sure no one could ever be corrupted in the same way again. That's why he steered the Avengers down the path where Thanos ultimately disintegrated the Stones, including the Mind Stone. And since Tony's snap didn't actually kill Thanos and his army but just sent them back in time and wiped their memories, or rewound their discovery of time travel in the first place, that's still the status quo in the "present" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

No – Tilda Swinton made the diagram to explain that removing an Infinity Stone causes an alternate dimension. It's the removal that splits off the timeline, and by Captain America returning the Stone, her timeline un-splits from the main one. Hence how he was able to show up at the end. Rewatch the movie if you don't believe me.

Nebula stays alive after killing her past self with the gun because Tony resurrected old Nebula and the rest of Thanos' army when he mindwiped them and sent them back in time.

>>237231

Yes, and Scarlet Witch got her powers from the Mind Stone. Hence how Vision says the Mind Stone can only be destroyed by its own energy, so Wanda has to do it.

10's farewell tour is unironically one of these moments.

I used to absolutely hate it - and I still basically agree with all of the reasons, I still don't even like Ten - but now I find it enjoyable just for how indulgently it wraps up RTD's whole era. Getting to say goodbye to Sarah Jane, Jack, Martha and Mickey, Jackie and Rose, it's all far too satisfying to miss out on. Yeah, it's ridiculous, and I love all of the snide jokes Moffat made about it retrospectively, but it makes so, so much sense for the show at that point. Looping it back round to 2005 with Series 1 is fucking based.

And stopping to revisit Joan's granddaughter is a legit brilliant move, that alone possibly pays off the whole sequence even if you find the rest of it to be utter shit. A single one-off story that a lot of viewers might not even have remembered receives pride of place, because it was simply that important to Ten's character. That's not even pandering any more, that's integrity. And the way she wordlessly acknowledges that it really is him, and everything Joan wrote about was real, is absolutely kino in that mysterious way RTD was so very good at.

I think I've softened towards the way RTD cut off the show so hard with this story, because now Moffat's run has also concluded, it doesn't sting as much anymore (and also I have great sympathy for such practices now that Chibnall has happened).

 No.237417

certain showrunner about beast below

>The Beast Below is probably one of Steven’s best ever scripts, and the production of it was so not what was in the script. I remember watching that and thinking, ‘Oh,’ because it’s a really beautiful, operatic visual piece of writing. It’s bigger than The End of the World, but actually the way the visuals went, something wasn’t quite right on the production of that. The tone of it is odd as well, the tone of it is not the tone of the script. And tone is something that often goes unrecognised as a key component in things. I think it’s always fascinating. I really vividly remember reading that, because I read The Eleventh Hour and thought that was extraordinary and really hurtles along, and then I thought he did something new in The Beast Below, and I think he probably doesn’t look on it that fondly but I think that actually, if he published that script at whatever it was, first or second draft, it was a really beautiful piece of writing.
