Good character stuff, which I liked, and a plot which was just lots of fun. Capaldi was brilliant, and everyone just bounced off each other really well.
It put a smile on my face

>>2627I always maintain that Russel 'The' Davies may have done many, many, many things with the show I disapprove of. And he probably killed 10 for me by being too overly self indulgent with the finale. BUT despite all of this, he's still the man who brought it back, he's such a cool guy in person, and as much as his writing was sometimes not to my liking when he did do a great episode, it was a fucking great episode. Midnight is still one of my favourites.

I hate some of his decisions, Aliens of London, Love and Monsters, his characterisation of the Tenth Doctor, Rose.
But he's still the man who wrote Midnight, Children of Earth, who saved Doctor Who and protected Big Finish

The actual script comes across much darker, and the fart jokes come across better too.
Keith Boak was way too broad with the story and made it over the top.

They were finally getting good again.
Everyone says "the masterplan would have been shit".
But JNT was there to make sure it didn't go too overboard. Marc Platt had two versions of Ghost Light, one lungbarrow and one the one we got and JNT stopped Lungbarrow from happening.
And from what I read Cartmel was planning on leaving and already a writer in mind to take over as script editor, I can't remember the guys name but he was a really good writer.
