Will the new titles be composed by Death Grips or is that a rumor?
I don't have a file named just "doctor who"
Anyone got a link to PDFs of all the VNAs?
I fall into the belief that Bukowski's work was pretentious shite because of all the pretentious shites who model themselves around him, but on the rare occasion that I go back and read his work - even stuff I've read before - I see that it's actually fucking wonderful
There's one on the wiki.
What? I'm seein' double! Four Judies!
Never even thought to check - thanks
pretty fucked up how people ran from the rain but lie in baths
Maybe, more likely it's just because he's heaps lonely though.
I love Lear but I won't watch that for a week or two I'd say.
Probably not that off-base.
N8 hasn't made a comment on reddit for 21 days. Has he abandoned Reddit, and finally become /ourguy/?
What music do you read to, /who/?
the fucking future is a nilso nightmare
Depends what I'm reading or how I'm feeling at the time.
Rewatching Scream of the Shalka for a shit trip quicky.
>Vaporized. All of them. Including the little ones. 'Amateur' indeed.
A man who never would.
Kino, can't wait to read.
I rarely read to music but whenever I read a horror short story I put this on.
>Missy’s the Master! She’s a very different sort of Master, and not just in the obvious ways, but there are definitely better stories than this to talk about that with. Still, it’s worth stressing up front that the notion of her as a distorted mirror of the Doctor is dealt with in much more complex terms than with previous iterations of the character. Which is to say that on the one hand, Clara is a homicidal maniac’s idea of the perfect companion, but on the other there’s no particular reason why this should undermine her. Indeed, given the particulars of Missy’s relationship with the Doctor it’s just as likely to validate her.
>Certainly Missy’s assessment was been a part of Clara long before we found out it was Missy’s. After all, her critics are usually just as quick to call her a Mary Sue as they are to call her unlikable, and while there’s an obvious contradiction in that, the truth is that both accusations are in their own way correct. From the start Clara is defined as the perfect companion. Consider her three introductions: a Junior Entertainment Manager, a job that’s two synonyms away from children’s literature; a fairy tale governess straight out of the golden age of children’s literature; and a children’s literature connoisseur. In other words, she’s consistently framed in terms of the genre the plucky female companion archetype was inherited from, defined by her unwavering adherence to those terms. Indeed, a central engine of the Impossible Girl arc was the constant sense that Clara was simply too good at being a companion.
>Much of her plot in Series Eight consists of responding to the implicit question this leaves behind. If there really is nothing sinister about Clara and she really is just an ordinary girl, why is she so good at being a companion? Or, to put it another way, what sort of person would you have to be in order to actually be the ideal plucky children’s heroine? And the answer turns out to be that you’d have to be deeply, deeply fucked up. And so the cleverness of children’s heroines becomes the purview of liars. Their fearlessness becomes the drive of an addict. Their steadfastness and sense of control over their own stories becomes bossiness.
>This is not a surprise from Moffat. The heart of classic tragedy is generally that the hero is put into a position where their virtues become flaws. Othello, a brilliant soldier known for his decisiveness, is put into a position where the one thing he needs to do is slow down and think; Hamlet, a thoughtful and meticulous scholar, finds himself in one where delaying constantly makes things worse. Moffat’s sense of adventure fiction has always been the inversion of this: the hero is someone with the right vices for a situation. That’s blatantly the heart of Sherlock, and it’s always present in his sense of Matt Smith’s Doctor as a slightly menacing and dangerous figure. So the conclusion that Clara’s heroism should not be a matter of goodness but of flaws is wholly in keeping with how he conceives of the idea.
>The fact that Moffat conceives of all his heroes this way makes it difficult to believe that her flaws-forward presentation is why so many people have it in for her; sexism may not account for each and every individual case, but it remains the best explanation for the aggregate. But there’s still something odd about it in the companion role. Because for all that she’s equated to the Doctor and made mythic in her own right, Clara is still the companion. She’s still the human one, understood through human frailties and ambitions; she’s still us. And that’s an important point opposite Capaldi’s Doctor, who is kept at more of an emotional remove from the audience than any Doctor since McCoy.
>I’ve said before that I’m not wild about calling the companion the audience identification figure, not least because I always wanted to be the Doctor, not the companion. But the thing is, so does Clara. When Rose or Donna had to be the Doctor it was something forced upon them. But Clara leaps at the opportunity. That’s never really been something the companion has aspired towards before. And if there’s a mad and annihilating hubris to it, well, that’s how some things are. Certainly it’s how stealing a TARDIS and running away is. You don’t fall out of the world with your sense of self intact.
>Clara forces us to confront that, and Flatline is the story that shows us what that’s going to mean. It’s not pretty, and as the Doctor says, goodness has nothing to do with it. But that’s not the same as saying it’s bad. It’s saying that this isn’t about morality. It’s just human. It might be the most human thing there is. Certainly, at this point, Clara is the most human companion we’ve ever had. Don’t stop her now.
Fuck, I'm the one who wrote "Basically Rose stretched out to classic series length" and even I had forgotten it has almost word-for-word the same ending.
What's the order of the upcoming projects?
>read-through of ST.25
Or is ST3 coming first? What's the plan here?
is that still a thing?
With any luck I might finish Foreman ep 1 before any of those happen.
I assumed people were still up for the idea but it had been put on hold due to 2.5
>“I’m not sure I wanna join the Family,’ said Rose. ‘They look all right, but they hate the Neanderthals. They attack them, just for something to do.’
>‘That’s humans. Anyone outside the tribe’s some sort of evil animal,”
What did Gareth Roberts mean by this?
Commenting on his own future attitude towards transgenders.
Plan is whatever we make it. I think ST3 at the very least shouldn't happen until after S11, and probably after this year's Christmas special too if we get one, since presumably it'll feature a lot of 13/Jodie stories.
There is no rush for ST1.5, I've said before I'd like to take the reins on that myself and given there's no rush for it I think it should remain on the backburner until there's no real upcoming stuff going on and we've got a big sized hole in the schedule, so to speak. I've got plenty of exciting ideas for /who/res regarding it, but I'll wait until a good while before storming it up since there's no point going after any attention now.
So basically the way I see things panning out is
>? maybe the zine in this gap of a few short months if people want
>S11 + christmas special
maybe 1.5 in this gap if nothing else comes up
I'd assumed that 1.5 and 3 wouldn't be happening until way after S11 ends. Once 2.5's finished, I'd also expect that there'd be a gap before we started another project.
I'd suggest something along these lines but maybe hold off on the zine for a bit until we know what would be put inside it. I remember the content lists floating about somewhat vaguely but I don't think anyone established anything concrete.
Also not sure if this came across as self-evident but I think 1.5 should be after 3 for sure. I don't think the ".5" issues necessarily need to be a regular thing either; ST2.5 was born out of ST2 lacking some certain types of stories and a lot of folks liking ST2 a lot and wishing they'd had a chance to get into it. 1.5 is a special/gag premise riffing off the idea of a .5 volume. If everyone who wants to write a ST3 fic does, and there's a nice range of stories, I don't necessarily see a need for 3.5 - this is way off, but just me explaining my headspace for why I always took it for granted 1.5 would come after 3.
3.5 should only come if there's some obvious justification for it.
Here's one: 2.5 is alternate doctors, 1.5 is retcons, maybe 3.5 is non-fiction essays/effortposts about the show?
was the supreme dalek meant to be in camouflage?
That kind of feels like the space the zine would occupy, and I think Shit Trips should stay fic since it's in the name and everything. Plus I kind of like essayposting staying on /who/ itself; we can't really spontaneously create fic while talking but discourse does bear out basically essays.
What is the point of distinction between 1.5 and a potential 3.5?
If there is a 3.5, we won't be discussing it until about a year from now. I think, a year after 2.5, people might be interested in revisiting alternate Doctors/Doctorless stories again. Not that it matters right now anyway
Speaking of, just finished another shit trip, should I send it to you or to immigrant?
I feel like the wiki basically serves as a mostly non-fictional counterpart to the fiction of Shit Trips. Between them, they can accommodate all kinds of writing the community is liable to produce.
Either works, moffchad @ gmail.com for me, pastebin for either of us, or Discord for him
The idea of 1.5 is to retcon in an anthology into a space where it didn't exist, to anachronistically jut in an anthology where it didn't originally exist. This wouldn't make sense for a hypothetical 3.5, as it would just came after 3. As for 2.5, that exists for those reasons talked about above, which I doubt will (or should) be replicated for 3.
That's true. There's nothing stopping people writing alt Docs in ST3 though. We'll see what happens with ST3 before this conversation really becoming tangible.
>moffchad @ gmail.com
Seriously or memeing?>
3.5 being a collection of about 20-25 effortposts would be quite a drag to go through. If the zine does this idea I think it'd be better served with a steady rotation of people for the specific section.
Forgive me if I'm missing the point, but what you're saying is that if 3.5 comes around next year/later next year, it'd occupy the 1.5 space as a joke, or would that space be occupied by 3.5?
>organising 1.5 makes the most sense after 3 has been released
>I don't presently see why we'd want a 3.5 at all, and if we did, the conversations prompting that wouldn't really make sense until after 3 has been released
so 1.5 would be its own thing in the vein of 1 and 2?
The idea for 1.5 is an anthology we collectively retcon inbetween ST1 and ST2. Retcons are a huge part of Doctor Who (from the endless small lore ones every season/series peppers in, to huge ones like the John Hurt Doctor), and I think an anthology basing itself around that idea would be ripe for great stories.
>retcon Doctors, like the Devious Doctor, Hurt Doctor, or people's own creations (a Doctor in between 10 and 11 played by Ben Whishaw? Go for it)
>For authors that already wrote for ST2, prequels to their stories. Hell, for authors that didn't write for ST2, prequels for ST2 stories.
>Retconned Doctor Who stories, anywhere in the timeline and for any episode/story one desires
Moments like 10 appearing to Rose in EOT, the entire existence of Devious and The Day of the Doctor, basically anything to do with early Dalek chronology, these are all the sorts of retcons Doctor Who engages in all the time - why don't we do some too?
I'd imagine it'd be a leaner anthology than ST1/2/3 since the premise is more selective, but I think it'll be a lot of fun.
I'm just trying to get the ideas as defined as posible for those who may be thinking along the same lines as me. What would you say is suited for the retcon anthology, and what would you also say may not be suitable for it?
Which Doctor Who stories are the most likely to be haunted or cursed, in the vein of The Bedlam In Goliath?
Can't help but think some vengeful remnant of Robert Holmes is lurking around The Ultimate Foe somewhere.
No problem. Can you list any specific examples you'd want clarified? I'm thinking, if people are amenable, along the lines of
>stories with a retcon Doctor (Devious Doctor, Hurt Doctor, any OC retcon Doctor [ie 10 regenerating directly into 11 in EOT doesn't preclude writing an alternate take on that where he doesn't, or telling an "untold story" where actually he regenerated into someone else and wibbly wobbly timey wimey that timeline collapsed and then he went straight into 11, etc.])
>retcon stories (a prequel to Silence in the Library where the Silents were in the Library, a prequel to WEAT/TDF showing how the Simm Master ended up as he did after EOT, etc - the possibilities are huge here, as a retcon basically umbrella contains the idea of a prequel.)
>a future 13 story with new villains and no retcon elements present
>anything that doesn't include a retcon or play around with the idea of retconning wouldn't fit the spirit of things
>I think things just like a past Doctor story, while technically prequels and thus "retcons" in that sense, wouldn't be super on theme if they didn't contain any retcon elements at all besides "this is a story with a past Doctor", but if that's what people want to do I'm hardly in command here; this is all communal
I already know my plan for St1.5; this is gonna be great.
Makes sense – the episode is deeply rooted in Blakean tropes, and by all accounts Sandifer is a huge Blake nerd.
More like "the stupid redesign logged me out of my account and I haven't bothered to charge my old phone for 2FA".

Voyage of the Damned
GOAT, glad some folks are brewing up ideas. I wish I'd done something in ST1 so I could go full-ontheme and insert a retcon between anthologies.
Speaking of retconny things, I'm endlessly amused/fascinated by how the status for Shalka shifted before it was even released. What an odd state of affairs.
I really hope they don't reveal the new TARDIS interior until the exact moment we see it in the first episode of S11.
What the actual fuck is Colony Sarff
I have one but it's in all caps
A colony of sentient snakes, governed by a larger mutated one with a vestigial mouth and pair of eyes in its side, which has trained itself to move around in the shape of a humanoid in order to conduct business.
Are these snakes from Earth?
That was a patented N8 theory through and through
Why are McCoy's titles so wonky in terms of word placement? Also >>37984 are you still wanting that credits image done?
I wouldn't think so, at least not directly.
Yeah but not yet, I'll let you know when, later this week
Good stuff, missed the previous message in the other thread.
When the Metebelis crystals turned earth spiders into the 8 legs they also turned a bunch of snakes that hid on the spaceship into 0 Legs
anyone wanna stream flatline?
flatline will be on the stream in 5 minutes if anyone is interested

>12 describing Rassilon as a "gang boss" in Hell Bent
I have one that would be perfect for this anthology. It's only half done, but it sounds like I've got plenty of time to prepare.
July. 1969. Three different groups are all watching the moon landing in three different places, each of them about to take their own small steps that will
YOU SHOULD KILL US ALL ON SIGHT[/spoiler[ become giant leaps. Each ready to break free from the chains they don't even realize are binding them.
I am a chump
Remember when 12 straight up murdered a guy in Hell Bent then played it off with a joke? What a great example for all the children watching.
Um… that’s kinda the point
Has Cloi put a wordfilter on the spoiler tags?
Negative, Ghost Rider.
Sounds perfect, and awesome. Awesomely perfect.

It just dawned on me the audio is billed as a full cast audio drama, but Nilso is the only cast member credited.
Nilso is the only one with a big enough name to be on the cover
Well, who else is in it then
I also had an idea that in retrospect would have been better for 2.5, but I'd had to have had the idea several months ago in order to give it time to ferment, and to do research. Luckily, it's all about retcons so it'll fit in 1.5 nicely, assuming it's not too long.
Basic outline is that it's what Torchwood was up to in the 1960s. The plot follows Yvonne Hartman's dad as he navigates the smoky corridors of power. Torchwood is reeling not only from the Shoreditch Incursion and the British Rocket Group disaster, but also the shrinking of the Empire. The mysterious leader of the Torchwood Institute spends every day sending out memos to offices throughout Africa telling them to either dispose of their evidence or else have it shipped to the home offices, only to learn they often can't or won't. Instead, it's thrown in vaults or landfills, to be found decades later.
The Institute's goal of capturing the Doctor has taken a distant backseat as the empire is now being inundated with alien strike forces and sinister extra-terrestrial plots. And through it all, Hartman has to contend with his irrepressible partner, Captain Jack Harkness, who seems to spend all his time privately debriefing the many lovely ladies and studly gentlemen who claim to have met and been abandoned by the Doctor.
>Hartman passed by Jack Harkness's office. The lech was on the phone with someone. "Ms Chaplet," he was saying, "I was wondering if I could come by your flat later and debrief you again, about your encounter." Harkness glanced up, noticing Hartman, and shared a saucy wink as he closed the door.
He definitely gets Jacked at some point.
My feeling is it should probably be set in 65, since that's when Ian and Barbara return and also when the 456 make contact.
I think that's cool.
The implication Doctor Who "ended" in 1989 and only began to live again in 2005 certainly does not make me "be happy" :^)
Sounds kino, I like the timeframe
>I am the Doctorinyootar
Was this the Doctor's true name? Why was it revealed on the series 6 soundtrack of all places?
Oh, don't worry, we're only talking about canon Who.
Gool moi if gool neg
have you already discussed this
We've tried very, very hard to forget.
Wait what the fuck, Ace?
Is there any need?
The width and breadth of political satire, I see.
>no involvement from Patrick Ness
>using the Daleks and Ace
>not the Weeping Angels, which were literally fucking set up at the end of S1
>without a good reason
Is Class truly redeemable? By Nick Briggs, of all people?
They've already done it a few times and it sucked.
I wrote a little bit of Barbara's interrogation. I think that the boss (probably an OC, or else a suitable reference character that might as well be) will be watching this video when Hartman comes in to tell him something important:
>"I'll tell you what I told the last man who asked me that question and what I'll tell the next man who asks me that question," Barbara said on the video, "No matter how long you look, no matter where you look, you're never going to find him." She turned and faced the camera. "You'd be better off hoping he just shows up on your doorstep someday."
We definitely find out that the "Britain won't support the project so he had to go to the UN" backstory for the Brig and UNIT is because the boss at Torchwood specifically dislikes him personally and was blocking his efforts. I wonder, hesitantly, if it makes sense for the boss to be Bernard Quatermass or whichever of Jo's relatives got her the job at UNIT.
anyone have the image of Bowie in Davison's title sequence
Let's be honest, it's a good thing they're dropping the Weeping Angel arc
>putting Ace in the cancelled Class's audio sequel
>not putting Ace in Class the TV series
In all honesty: why?
oh my god
so this is how the "Ace returns in a spinoff" finally materialises
we never asked for this
Briggs Finish: where dead spinoffs go to be sucked dry
List of writers is pretty solid though.
Scott Handcock is director of GOAT Torchwood audios they did, and there are Guy Adams and Jenny Colgan who are consistently good too.
They're not, this audio series is set between the TV show's episodes. Meaning the door is open for the Weeping Angels. Meaning they're going to fucking spin another seven box-sets out of that.
26th-31st December 2017 was truly the worst time to be a /who/re.
*26th December 2017 - 19th March 2018
Literally nothing but Darth Snoke/Judy/NiggerJudy/boardie spam
Also Lym hate was at its worst
There's two judies in the discord now.
Lym hate was the worst part of pre-ban 2018 /who/, above rutherford, Judy, and all the other shit that piled up towards the end.
I'd say a general trend of sociopathy (some of it outright admitted) has metastasised.
In retrospect, regardless of what happens I'm fucking glad /who/ got banned. I'd like to go back some day but we needed the purge.
I'm glad Nilso's never gotten banned.
Can the state of /who/ be interpreted as a reflection on the state of the franchise?
The more I watch The Impossible Astronaut | Day of the Moon, the more I become convinced it's the The Maigcian's Apprentice | The Witch's Familiar of the Moffat era.
I don't like to go full Clayton in terms of TARDIS accuracy but how the fuck did they mess that up so bad? They're the BBC, they already have an accurate 3D model anyway.
That doesn't really make sense considering what the best year of /who/ was.
You mean a story that's not actually the best of its era, but can be viewed as the quintessential two-parter of said era?
I mean a story that has snakes and shit in it.
I don't know which year you're talking about, because it sure as fuck wasn't 2016.
Where are the snakes in Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon?
Post your S6 rankings and don't be afraid to be honest
The Girl Who Waited
The Impossible Astronaut | Day of the Moon
The Doctor's Wife
The God Complex
A Good Man Goes to War
Let's Kill Hitler
The Wedding of River Song
The Rebel Flesh / The Almost People
The Curse of the Black Spot
I'm not talking about 2016, or 2017 for that matter.
The one in the White House.
Then it has to be 2013, 2014 or 2015, and the franchise was pure kino in at least two of those years. I'm not talking about ratings, by the way, but on the nature of the content that is coming out.
>The one in the White House.
The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon
The Doctor's Wife
The Girl Who Waited
Let's Kill Hitler
The God Complex
A Good Man Goes to War
The Rebel Flesh / The Almost People
Curse of the Black Spot
switch Closing Time and God Complex and this is mine
None of those years. Think outside the box.
It's funny, I don't hate those last 3 eps the way I do TWORS but I prefer an ep I feel any kind of passion for over one I just plain never want to watch again.
I totally understand preferring God Complex, it is more ambitious and a great ep, I'm just a huge sucker for Gareth's style.
Placings in my overall NuWho ranking:
9. The Girl Who Waited
10. The God Complex
18. The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon
19. The Doctor's Wife
31. A Good Man Goes To War
61. The Wedding of River Song
68. Let's Kill Hitler
73. The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People
74. Closing Time
104. The Curse of the Black Spot
110. Night Terrors
The Doctor's Wife
The God Complex
The Girl Who Waited
The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon
A Good Man Goes to War
The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People
The Wedding of River Song
The Curse of the Black Spot
Let's Kill Hitler
It obviously isn't 2018 because that year isn't even completed yet, so saying it "was" the best year of /who/ would make no sense. And /who/ only began in 2013.
I missed out Wedding of River Song. I'd slot it between The God Complex and A Good Man Goes to War
>People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly… time-y wimey… stuff.
It's funny. The day you realise you don't hate those last 3 eps the way you do TWORS isn't the worst. It's all the days you spend preferring an ep you feel any kind of passion for.
>sucker for Gareth's style
I generally like Gareth's stuff and the lodger and closing time is probably two of the handful of episodes that i find myself revisiting of smith's era. I thought the caretaker was pretty great too. It makes me wonder how much of his episodes were ghost written though, because his offerings on The Librarians were the low point of their series.
But Neo, Gazza says some silly things on Twitter sometimes so you've got to hate him by default, remember?
Fun fact: all those three eps are arguably essentially adaptations of one short comic Gareth wrote (called The Lodger) that Moff evidently loved. That's what Sandy thinks anyway.
lmao that Silence discussion /doctorwho/ was having the other day about how it was so stupid that they wanted the spacesuit in the first place is actually lampshaded in Day of the Moon
>AMY: But why? I mean, if you can make it all the way to Earth, why steal technology that can barely make it to the moon?
>DOCTOR: Maybe because it's cooler? Look how cool this stuff is.
>everything I don't like is a strawman
>That's what Sandy thinks anyway.
Do you condemn Gareth's transphobia?
My answer is self-evident.
I'd read and rate that shit trip.
**What's with woody and mowing lawns?
ZOMG NEO'S A TRANSPHOBE :OOOOOO
The Lodger is. The rest just have a similar tone.
The Lodger being based on The Lodger is self-evident, Closing Time and The Caretaker being based on it as well is more of a stretch although I understand the train of thought and am more inclined to agree with it than disagree with it.
It's no secret that I don't care for her in any incarnation.
I'm sure. Broken clocks and all.
The Lawn is a vagina. Think about it.
That linked video, plus the weird timeline in season 1, had me all charged up to write a crossover where they meet in a bar and go on and adventure to Alaska together. Never got around to it because it was so dreary and awful, and I was having a major depressive episode at the time.
I understand the metaphor. It's just a funny one, that he apparently likes quite a bit. Are those from the common wealth that particular about their yard? Some american men have quite the love affair with theirs to the point of trope. Like Hank Hill.
The Girl Who Waited
The Doctor's Wife
The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon
The Rebel Flesh / The Almost people
A Good Man Goes to War

Let's Kill Hitler
The Curse of Black Spot
I think Rust's character would lend itself quite well to doctor who. The doctor showing him cosmic wonder and horror, after what he saw, er after his revelation.
It's a very American thing. It's very possible to have a low or working class person who owns very little but still has a substantial amount of property, and when all you possess is material, it's easy to become obsessed with caring for and preserving it. For reasons unclear to me, mowing the lawn is traditionally seen as man's work, as opposed to gardening tasks which are more seen as women's work, so a lawn is mowed either by the man of the house or one of his sons. At least, that's the folklore.
anyone have the cropped image Ray Winestone?
Hey, has anyone written some shit trips that Cushing-ify further adventures that Dr. Who would have had? Dr. Who and the Cyber-Men would have been fucking spectacular.
No, but I wanted to do something with Cushing and The Dalek Master Plan.
Imagine if this line was added retroactively
Wait how and why did the Doctor and the TARDIS even get captured in Day of the Moon
Did Moff not write a minisode explaining?
>For reasons unclear to me, mowing the lawn is traditionally seen as man's work
I don't get it either. Pushing a mower is fantastic for a women's gluts and I wouldn't seriously a woman that didn't yard work.
What a mess that two parter was.
The entire "capture" was a sham, remember? The TARDIS was set to invisible and placed in that location for the prison cube to be built around, so they had a base safe from the Silents' purview.
Who is the Doctor Who equivalent of pic related?
The Doctor in the TARDIS doesn't know
DOESN'T KNOW DOESN'T KNOW
Why do you circlejerk a two parter you don't understand?
>The Doctor, Amy, Rory and River split up after Astronaut and go on missions to investigate the Silents.
>The Silents have infiltrated the FBI and Canton is the only one the good guys can trust.
>Three months pass, it's time to reconvene, however the Silents have set the FBI after our heroes
>The Doctor parks his invisible TARDIS inside Area 51 and allows himself to be "captured"
>The feds begin to assemble a prison for him using dark star alloy (either scavenged by the Silents, or just sitting around in Area 51, it's never clarified)
>Meanwhile Canton, secretly on the good guys' team, leads the operation to "take out" the other Ponds so he can help stage their deaths while actually bringing them all back in to safety
>They all meet up inside the soundproof prison cube, hop in the TARDIS, and fly away with the Silents none the wiser
I think /who/ could probably successfully create an /x/ thread loosely related to Doctor Who and sustain it
>Winstone covering up the outline of Tom
I removed the outline frame by frame so it doesn't look odd
If I find you a hatless version of pic related, would you put it into 7's titles?
sure I'll just need her name
McCoy's titles are by far the easiest to recreate
Иногда другого пути просто нет.
How long were Amy and Rory in the body bags?
The Fisher King or Gravis
In the Day of the Moon, would you say River has retained her understanding of the Silents from her youth and TWORS and is just LARPing not knowing about them while she investigates with 11/Amy/Rory/Canton?
I think it can be safely assumed that most of what River 'doesn't know' is just her pretending for the others' sakes
It's by no means a good photoshop but considering the fact that I spent about 10 minutes on it initially and 5 minutes just now removing the hat/head I think it's done its job to say the least.
Which two Doctors would get along the least in an adventure featuring the pair of them?
I'd say there's a 50/50 chance it'd be 7 and 8
She is 74 now, and she has apparently had cancer, so it's probably to be expected.
Why do you think that it is? I personally think 11 and 9 would struggle with each other. 12 would dislike 5 (although I feel he'd be just as prickly with any other incarnation as he was with 1)
God I'm such an idiot
>disliked by fans
>scorned by casuals
>in fact, after two years barely anyone remembers its existence outside of Doctor Who obsessives
>cancelled after one series
>even BF had to put fan-pleasers like Ace and Daleks in it to make people buy the boxsets, while audio Torchwood is doing well without any DW elements
Is Class the most JUST show that ever JUSTed?
It's definitely the most damning indictment of the state of BBC Wales in 2016. Top to bottom, they didn't have a fucking clue what they were doing. It should never have been commissioned.
I think Doctor Who under Chibnall is going to move away from the depression the Doctor has suffered in recent years - stylistically, more dramatic and adventurous, less intellectual character analysis
Not long until we get to see FandomReacts ruin Heaven Sent. It's gonna be stellar
>Shadow Kin are god awful villains
>shoehorn in Daleks
>none of the cast are likable and the only interesting one is the terrorist
I'm assuming you mean Quinn or whatever her name is, right?
>Let's make British Buffy!
>but sir, Being Human already exists. Hell, the first two seasons of our show were British Buffy.
>Do what I say!
Quill. Her character was interesting, but she spends most of the show being such a cunt that I can't imagine casual viewers wanting to watch her.
>that time the BBC was actually going to make a British Buffy centered around Giles, but Whedon decided to fuck off and make Dollhouse instead
This is what gets me. It's autofellatic. RTD already produced two versions of a British Doctor Who Buffy; it's a redundant take.
The Shadowkin were my least favorite thing about the whole business. Fucking zero-originality fantasy clichés. Even as teen drama villains, they were shite.
Their only good bit was the sex scene.
What's your personal reading into Jumping Man
I get that Buffy filled in Doctor Who's role on TV during the Wilderness Years for quite a few fans, enough that people wanted Giles' actor to play the Doctor, but it's bizarre just how many times the Doctor Who staff has tried to copy the show.
Some sort of heyoka figure.

I think it's time we talked about Judy.
I feel like I know Nilso, but sometimes my arms bend back.
Is there any doubt Disney is paying off RLM at this point? All the evidence points towards Disney enforcing a moratorium upon posting the Solo HITB for the opening week. It's a fair assumption that the deal of their agreement was that RLM gets to shit on the anthology films to retain geek credibility, while toeing the party line on the episodic films. Sad to see how a once mighty titan of online criticism has fallen to the mouse like so many others. As for a Doctor Who equivalent, there isn't exactly one in monetary terms, but there's definitely a community around BF that perpetuates thought-termination of any and all criticism in that way. Does anywhere else besides here and Sandifer's circles criticise BF as scathingly as we do? Does the Reddit discord? Do the FP tumblrs?
>it's another Neo posts copypasta in an attempt to be provocative
None of what I just posted is copypasta. I wrote it myself.
RORY: Where is she, Doctor?
(The spacesuit is lying on the floor.)
RIVER: It's empty.
AMY [OC]: It's dark. So dark. I don't know where I am. Please, can anybody hear me?
(Amy's nanorecorder is on the floor, flashing.)
>Does anywhere else besides here and Sandifer's circles criticise BF as scathingly as we do?
The answer is yes: many Redditors and a lot of the FP-adjacent Tumblrs are just as critical, though obviously you can still find "BF can do no wrong" people everywhere.
Note that "Reddit Discord" is a bit of a misnomer. It certainly started as one, with the subreddit mod teams modding the Discord. But the two teams have substantially diverged since then, and the server gets most of its new members from places other than Reddit: Tumblr, the Tardis Wiki, and most importantly, Discord itself (since the server is officially partnered). I can't think of a FP-adjacent Tumblrer who isn't on the Discord.
>Discord itself (since the server is officially partnered
What's that mean? It's all greek to me, and fascinating to hear off these far-off lands I understand little of.
I believe you, but whenever I've peeked at the BF review threads on reddit it seems to be the same powerusers piling praise at various levels onto whatever release. I see some mockery of their type of output, but have never seen anything really structural like I do here and with Sandifer's lot. This sounds like I'm redditsplaining to a r/gallifrey mod…I don't know what the fuck I'm saying, just anything that comes to mind on this topic since I'm interested in your thoughts.
I remember that ffwidhader guy on r/gallifrey, I always liked his posts, I think he deleted his account though? I saw thisoldcan seemed to a while ago too, their reviews are the sort of thing I was talking about earlier. They were damn prolific, I'll give em that.
discord partnered means they can choose what the invite link says in the DW discord's case it's doctorwho
>I remember that ffwidhader guy on r/gallifrey, I always liked his posts, I think he deleted his account though?
No, they got banned for telling people who had different opinions to kill themselves.
didn't they also get banned from the discord for the same reason?
Ohh I think I get it, like to get to that discord you type discord.com/doctorwho or something like that? So it's like a domain name kind of endorsement?
I'm sure it's more than that but I don't own a discord server
You've always struck me as the type who will eventually, just not for something Doctor Who related.
>It's all greek to me
As >>38185 said, being "officially partnered" just means that Discord noticed we're bringing in a lot of new users, so they gave us a fancy discordapp.com/invite/doctorwho invite link instead of random letters, and we get higher quality voice streaming, and some of the mods also get access to beta testing features.
I understand what you mean about the r/gal BF review threads. It kind of makes sense that the people who would listen to those audios and post in those threads would be big fans, though. Good excuses to shit on BF rarely pop up on the subs, but in the Discord where conversation flows more freely, it's a lot more common.
iirc ThisOldCan was explicitly trying to get BF to notice him so he could get advance copies of audios, so you're not wrong about his reviews.
Nah, Fwhiffahder was never banned from Reddit; Neo's right that she deleted her Reddit account (and her Tumblr). She was banned from the Dr Who server for that reason, though. She reacts very very harshly to anything that might suggest transphobia. I'm still very indebted to her for her help with the Faction Paradox inclusion debate, though; the wiki lost something great when she was banned. (Even her very brief return to the wiki caused quite a bit of behind-the-scenes drama for CzechOut and the admins, which was hilarious and very welcome.)
I have no clue if this is positive or negative
"She reacts very very harshly to anything that might suggest transphobia"
How violent are we talking about?
I leave that choice entirely in your hands.
Ahh, really? That makes sense, but begs the question…why would one want advance copies? I have a review blog unrelated to Who and can't imagine the stress that trying to push its output to get a chance at review copies for something would be.
This might be terribly forward of me, but given your breadth of experience and knowledge in all these areas, I'm wondering how it all started for you? When did you decide you wanted to properly get into writerly and adminny circles and get published etc, or did you more fall into it and just kept running on the path?
Are there any Doctor Who moments/ideas/theories you used to be really negative towards, that you swung around to be really positive towards?
I used to not be so hot on the brainwash-humans-to-genocide-Silents thing, but I adore it now. I also used to despise the idea of meta10 returning, especially as the Valeyard, but I'm completely gaga for that now.
If you have a reply that gets liked on twitter, can you see who liked it?
Research seems to show sometimes it shows the icon/name, but sometimes it doesn't - perhaps it only does for friends.
Does anyone have a good facial profile picture of Jodie Whittaker's face like this?
Nothing too graphic. Just the standard "make them feel unwelcome and uncomfortable until they leave" approach to problematic opinions. I still consider her a good friend and an utterly fantastic theorizer. A lot of what I and rassilon-imprimatur ever talk about has roots in her posts.
>why would one want advance copies? I have a review blog unrelated to Who and can't imagine the stress that trying to push its output to get a chance at review copies for something would be.
Prestige, I guess. Why do we seek out spoilers for TV Doctor Who? Would you take the opportunity to watch episodes a few weeks before they air? From my experience, it's pretty nice, and I imagine that draw extends to Briggs Finish. Whether or not "writing good reviews" is a smart path to getting that access is a completely different question.
And you're not too forward at all. I love answering questions. But I completely fell into it; it's all been almost remarkably easy, even as I'm approaching the final stages of withdrawing from it all. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask away.
Funny, I was just going back and forth with GI yesterday about how I don't seek out spoilers and have been enjoying /who/ being a haven from them now Chibnall has effectively rechristened himself Chadnall and clamped down on them all but entirely.
>I'm approaching the final stages of withdrawing from it all
!? I certainly got the impression you were taking a break or stepping back from things you've said lately but didn't realise there was that much weighty permanence to it. Damn dude…well you did say you were content with your end the other night on the stream so I guess I won't say I'm sorry to hear that, but…:(, you know. I imagine writing and organising at your level gets/got(gots?) overwhelming? I wonder at the sort of personalities that do this stuff; I know we /who/res are an aberration in how exceedingly well-adjusted we are.
I know it's judgemental for me but there's something about how Doctor Who has no canon that makes "fanfic" for it seem like a worthier pursuit than fanfic for other things. I know not everyone takes that lack of canon as seriously as some of us, but I think it really does fundamentally affect the motivation and positioning of things from as tucked-away and insular as Shit Trips, to semi endorsed/ignored charity anthologies, to licensed-but-kept-at-arms-length stuff like the "official" EU.
Are there any Doctor Who stories so utterly to your liking and taste /doctorwho/, that it almost feels like they were hand-crafted for you and you alone?
the thing is that doctor who has played a big part in SHAPING my taste so it's hard to work backwards to answer that question. Pretty much any story that's generally considered to be kino or fun or rewatchable feels as if it's been hand-crafted for me
That's an extraordinarily interesting answer. Do you feel that way with any other 'franchises'? Maybe other ones you experienced in your childhood?
Obviously every story I've ever consumed has played a role in making me who I am and in forming me tastes.. i dunnae think that anything's had mor in floo ance than dr who tho..ave just seen it so much and rewatched it so much for so many yeers
Dalek's Master Plan and The War Games appeal to my interest in really long stories, Genesis, Resurrection, Attack, Pyramids of Mars, Ghost Light and Curse of Fenric appeal to my interests in horror fiction although for different reasons - the first three are very much reminiscent of a slasher film where the cast gets whittled down to one or two characters whereas the others visually and thematically represent late 60's/early 70's Hammer Horror films (whether those stories make good DOCTOR WHO stories, however, is up for debate).
Also, Night Thoughts and Scherzo for audios. In fact, think of anything in Doctor Who that relates to horror. Pick that.
Never a truer sentence typed, anon. I agree completely. I hated a lot of the darker stuff but after watching CoF I thought "this shit's fuckin' awesome" it's influenced my taste in things ever since.
*awesome", and it's
Certainly a well-observed overlap between Hammer fans and DW fans. What are your thoughts on Mark Gatiss?
Do you think Trial in any way shape or form fulfilled that sort of promise of really long stories, like Masterplan and War Games?
As a horror fan, are you excited for the horror that S11 will be?
I really like worldwide apocalypse type of stories with news presenters and governments falling. And I'm not even sure if it was RTD who did this to me, or I just liked RTD era more because I was already into it.
Torchwood doing Cottingley Fairies was huge for me too, I'm convinced that there are flaws in this episode, but the fact that they touch on such an intriguing theme felt really good.
But generally I agree with this anon => >>38203
Hirohito Araki episode when?
Savin Yeatman-Eiffel episode when?
Joey JoeJoe Junior Shabadoo episode when?
Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop episode when?
Tommy Wiseau episode when?
Thinking on it, perhaps an opinion some would deem "plebian", but I'm pretty sure the Doctor Who episode that affected me most as a child was The End of the World. The line "
everything has its time and everything dies.[/spoiler" stuck out like a mantra in my head. I love other episodes more, but the point of that episode and the scale with which it told it affected me more than I think I realised at the time. Children and family geared media tend to focus more on survivorship and resilience, the idea of surrendering mindfully to death and making peace with it is quite something else.
There's already basically is one, in NewWho no less.
Wes Anderson episode when?
Yeah, overwhelming is one word for it. Really it's just bad timing with my afk life: my career is just getting off the ground, and there's some distracting family stuff happening too. We'll see where I end up, involvement-wise, but a big part of me doubts that I'll ever come back from this break.
>it really does fundamentally affect the motivation and positioning of things from as tucked-away and insular as Shit Trips, to semi endorsed/ignored charity anthologies, to licensed-but-kept-at-arms-length stuff like the "official" EU.
Yeah, there's definitely something there in Who. It makes it utterly impossible to encylopediaize: eg, like the Tardis Wiki, I always treated charity anthologies as very secondary to stuff like Short Trips, but then I read some of the OG ones (Perfect Timing, Missing Pieces) and realized that not only were there plenty of stories by elsewhere-officially-published writers, there were stories that connected or closed loose ends from their official stories! And yet, that information is always going to be relegated to second-best by stuff like the Tardis Wiki.
I've tried to continue that tradition in my Shit Trips stories: eg my ST2 minific foreshadows both of my Faction Paradox short stories, and it's the first mention of the http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Plume_Coteries
I've got these, if something like this is what you're looking for.
she is everything tae me.
Jodie a cute. A CUTE!!!
Gatiss is clearly a horror junkie and it's a shame that his horror eps fell flat on their faces repeatedly. I also forgot to mention that Terror of the Zygons is absolutely fantastic and one of the best atmospheric horrors that Doctor Who has ever done. The acting, the music and the visuals all work together perfectly. I personally don't consider Trials to be part of the long family story because there's a very important separation with the three; Master Plan and The War Games are one continual story and while Trial is also one long story, it's also split into four smaller stories. I personally don't think that you can say that about TDMP or TWG.
I think the phrase for Series 11 is "cautiously optimistic". Episode 1 will absolutely be a make-or-break deal and no one will ever convince me otherwise. Chibby does well with ep1? Nice. Chibby does badly with ep1? Uh oh. Chibby does middlingly with ep1? Pure terror.
No worries anon. Thanks for looking, but I used the one I posted myself.
Also, on a separate but also linked note, I'm stuck between three names for something I'm doing for ST3 and I'm not sure what to go for. I'd also like some opinions on what I can put on this cover to fill some negative space below the windows/above the roof to the right.
I understand. I know comparing my experiences writing for ST2, when I worked part time and mostly from home, to 2.5 where I work full time all day, yeah it's much more difficult, I can't imagine what it's like on a larger scale like yours and with a more editorial bent. Be a damn shame for Coloth to not see the sight of day but I empathise with your position.
I love how your ST work connects to your FP work, both artistically motivated and a sort of thumbing of the nose to the wiki and their like's ridiculous attitudes.
Nights in Red Satin is far and away the best title imo
>set during the original run, not a 'season 2'
>zero involvement by PNess
>shameless unnecessary crossovers
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Trailer in mid june apparently
Can you do this again with a different image of Jodie?
I love the idea that the Class crew encountered Ace and the fucking Daleks in S1 and never mentioned it.
I'm hoping that people will infer that it's a play on words of Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues instead of it being a speculative guess on what 13 wears in bed.
Yeah, sure. Do you have any preference for images? I only used this one because she's A) staring at the camera/audience, B) in an outfit which is plausible in the realms of Who and C) because I couldn't find any alternatives.
Her main image ideally. I get why you chose it though. Maybe when we get some more promo pics you'll be able to improve it.
Oh, absolutely so. I refrained from putting any Bradley Walsh or the other two on the cover because I don't think their images are as good
Do you ever experience that conflicted feeling of wanting something to be in Doctor Who, but then realising that it'd do better as a standalone thing? If not, do you think Doctor Who could be suitable for literally any kind of stories?
It's like how Russell said that the Weeping Angels could have an entire movie franchise dedicated to them and Moff jokingly said something akin to "Damn, and I wasted them on Doctor Who!"
Doctor Who can be anything and everything, and it has been everything and it has been nothing, so, yes, it can do anything. Whether or not you'd prefer that anything, that idea, to be on its own is another story
I wanted to see a Doctor Who story where any Doctor was involved in something akin to The Thing but I then realised that I just wanted to see 3 or 5 in The Thing instead of an actual episode.
Interesting, I wonder if The Last Photograph will ever get made then. Enormously hyped for however he'll approach this.
Here you go. I think the other version is the better one but since you asked so nicely I did the edit anyway.
There is absolutely no way that would fly with a production team, just cause unnecessary confusion
What can we honestly say about Whelan that we haven't already? Whelan's Whelan. He'll never learn.
>Ace is guest starring in the Class audio revival
What the shit? I'm still waiting for the adaptation of her lost episodes of SJA
Why would Chibnall who has kept every thing under wraps so far reveal a big character Captain Jack in the first trailer? Answer that Whelan
John Barrowman posts on Instagram every 5 minutes, people would know if he was in Cardiff filming.
if he WERE in Cardiff.. conditional clause
john barrowman will not return to dr who
Until your trial for public indecency?
Until the event that saves Doctor Who.
Poor Jodie. The good always die young.
How would you handle a Doctor's actor dying mid-season?
Obviously I mean production-wise, if you were the writer, not how you'd handle it emotionally
I'd sit at my desk for a few moments, try and figure out how many steps there are between my office and the roof and then get incredibly well acquainted and intimate with the pavement on the ground floor
SJA it, air an incomplete season with some cobbled together ending out of respect. Allow a period of mourning, then get to work casting a new doctor whose first story starts off with the fake regeneration done in post prod (like a less shit version of 6-7)
What about the companions? I'd personally just find a way to make the Doctor regenerate in whatever story they were last working on (hopefully one that isn't too shit) and then keep the same companion cast with a replacement Doctor
Yeah, absolutely keep the companions. First story can be about them trying to adjust to the sudden change.
I actually read a lot of the anthologies before seeing a lot of the eps, so "charity anthology Who" is sort of my home base.
How do you feel about the cat on the TARDIS? fuckin based, am I right?
chib who is actually a golden age, we all come to love the show again, we all get attached to the cat, the cat actor dies in like 7 years, we all sink into depression
they'll probably use like 3 or 4 different lookalike cats and we'll all autistically try to guess which one is in a certain scene
The cat will be in a state of temporal flux, and it'll be called Schrodinger
I, Nilso, have forseen this.
I support anything Chibnall adds to the show in order to ameliorate the effects of his mediocre writing. A cat on the TARDIS would salvage at least 50% of shit episodes.
It would lead to the biggest TARDIS team apart from arguably Journey's End. Thirteen + 3 humans + cat.
Have we had 5 on the TARDIS before?
The Doctor, Tegan, Nyssa, Adric, and Tegan's voice
i love skipping storm's commie videos >:)
You can on the iPhone app by clicking the likes but desktop just shows about 10 icons of the people who liked
those tweets have got to be bullshit but it's still got my hopes up so i can't wait to be disappointed when a series 11 teaser doesn't turn up in june
chill yourself before you nil yourself
That one episode of the Chase with the Doctor, Ian, Barbara, Vicki and Steven
if that counts, does School Reunion count?
10, Rose, Mickey, Sarah Jane, K9
Theyre specifying the next 2 weeks, right?
yeah, maybe around a world cup match or something
As a fan of the X-Files growing up, it's no surprise that the Impossible Astronaut 2-parter is what got me into Doctor Who. And though I missed it at the time, having only been a casual fan of the PBS re-runs as a kid, I would have fallen HARD for the Faction Paradox stuff.
Outside of who, Gotham is so bizarrely catered to my taste in aesthetics, in themes, in kink, that I honestly cannot be objective about its quality or lack thereof. If I was going to make a series about Batman, it would be extremely similar to Gotham.
City of Death plays to my sense of humour pretty perfectly, which makes a lot of sense, because my whole sense of humour was pretty much shaped by The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Other than that, Heaven Sent feels pretty much tailored to me, in the way it looks, in the crazy sci fi resolution with the teleport, and most importantly, the emotional core of 12 losing Clara…. I dont claim to know much about Television, but that episode is one that I truly adore, and feels like the perfect episode for me.
I used to not like the idea of 'Bad Wolf' being an all powerful being, and I felt it was a slight cop out at the end of Series 1.
Now I like to think Bad Wolf was manipulating all of Tennant's era. In 'Journey's End', Rose gets her perfect ending. She gets to grow old with the Doctor in her own universe. Arguably the best possible outcome for her… I like to think when Rose became Bad Wolf for about 2 minutes, she manipulated the timelines to give herself that outcome. (also explains the coincidences leading Donna to the Doctor in a more satisfying way). And then of course Bad Wolf was in DotD… I basically went from thinking Bad Wolf was too powerful to headcanoning her as the most influential entity in the new series…. And Bad Wolf only existed for a couple of minutes
I think that was the implication from the end of Turn Left
I dont doubt it, but I never understood wtf was going on in that finale as a kid. Dalek Caan was apparently manipulating it all as well, and I didnt understand it. I would have been about 10 years old at the time, so old enough to understand I guess, but it was a bit messy and convoluted.
"This would always have happened, I only helped."
What the fuck does that mean, RTD. What the fuck does that mean.
Nilso lives in abject squalor. There are pretzel pieces and soy milk stains strewn across the floor of his dirty hovel.
I did the same thing in one of my ST2 stories to explain away a bunch of Time War inconsistencies.
why on earth would they tell us jack is coming back so soon? why would chibnall of ALL people
1. resurrect someone to save the ratings
2. spoil his series after going to extreme lengths to keep everything secret
the fact that there are rumors about this at all should tell you it isn't happening
until the trailer?
Yeah but what about the cat rumour?
It should be a different cat each episode like Colin’s cat pins
I think a cat could be kino but i feel like most writers would forget about it. unless there was something special about the cat of course.
the cat will die in episode 9
If they kill the cat I drop the show.
Maybe 13 picks up an alien cat in episode 1, and it has some sort of quantum magic power thing, like you look away, and suddenly its behind you. The joke being, every time they look away they wonder where the cat went. Then in the finale, the cat actually plays a part in saving the earth… somehow
the cat is the first doctor
the cat is our very own Cats12
deus cat machina
i think that'd be cool my only concern is how well that would translate to the screen. how often do tv shows use real live animals as reoccurring characters these days?
Dirk Gently season 1 had a corgi be a reccuring character. Appeared in most episodes too. That dog must have been well trained desu. The cat could be like k9 and stay in the TARDIS mostly.
it's her birthday
say happy birthday
not talking, that would be a bit much. Maybe it could be intelligent, but not speak. The companions do baby noises at the cat and call it cute, and 13 tells them theyre condescending a pretty intelligent cat
Sabrina the Witch had a cat
Happy birthday to Pearl.
She's a cutie and I wish I was a girl so she would like me ;_;
>tfw australian netflix isn't going to get AD5 because of contract bullshit with foxtel
is anyone familiar with torrenting netflix shows? do you know how long it usually takes for things to get ripped? is there a special place to look or does it get put on tpb straight away?
idk about right away. It'll release for regular people in about an hour, so wait a few more hours and check the reddit page for Mega links. Also check TPB and popular torrenting sites. Someone might also put a link on /tv/ but you might run across spoilers there. In situations like that I just squint my eyes while using ctrl + f to find the word "link" "torrent" or "download"
>check the reddit page for Mega links.
i heard that page got murdered
what reddit page are you referring to? I don't use reddit. The AD subreddit, or a special show torrenting subreddit?
are you familiar with the website mega.nz? theres a subreddit called "megalinks" which has links to movies stored on mega.nz servers.
go to r/megalinks and search for what u want. Then follow whatever instructiona ur given
I know what mega is you silly goose
thanks for the link
yeah that's what keeps popping into my mind when i think of doctor who having a cat, i liked the cat in sabrina but it'd look really out of place today i reckon
Kinda, especially given how unique it is in the context of Who. Even Snakedance doesn't really resemble it. I frequently use it to introduce the artsier people in my social circle to Classic Who and they're almost always more impressed by it than they were expecting.
Paradise Towers or Delta and the Bannermen it's a coin toss between those two
I'm eternally glad that my taste is the complete opposite of yours. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I thought so highly of Delta and the Bannermen, or Paradise Towers.
I bet you don't use deodorant and everyone thinks you smell but they don't say it to your face. That's my impression of JNTfags.
Eater of Wasps, the quaint little English village and the wasp hive mind together are perfect
>Not treating JNT Who as 3 discrete eras
So this is what prolonged exposure to Moffats Doctor Who does to your brain

Shut up Nilso.
Pic related: a meeting between two enlightened Nilsoposters.
hie thee hither that i may pour my nilsoposts in thine thread
wait, please explain. what is the image on the left from?
They are both from Delta and the Bannerman
I've seen Delta and the Bannerman and I do not remember them swapping between a very good practical effect and a very bad one
The first scene with the egg hatching is the practical effect and then they switch to a baby in the next scene
There’s a simple explanation, you’re thick
the child grows rapidly which means the actress is swapped for every scene

we'll talk about that when you finish the kinoisseur and plogicol bios
i propose we make a nilso a unit of measurement

one lil nilso is half a nilso
is that equivalent to a lil nilso?

Some bad news guys. Nilso passed away. He and I actually know each other and well, I just thought I would pass the news on. So yeah. Sorry if I brought any of you down. If anyone has any kind words, I'll gladly write them down and pass them onto his rabbi.
Fuck. Don't die on me Nilso. Don't you FUCKING DARE die on me. I will give my life for you.

>"you're so mean why are you mean to me after I was rude to you what the fuck why are you popular"
Like I said yesterday, feel free to jump into the stream and we can discuss it there if you want.
nilsos so gay even his nose is a deviant
Nilso's gyrating his hips
is nilso's anger management problems part of the reason nilsoposting exists?
that's even funnier
made me laugh, thanks anon
doctor who equivalent of pic related?
[AD S5 spoilers]
The Church of Nilso will protect the stream.
just had an ice cold shower, lads
Only psychopaths and sadomasochists have cold showers.
Don't they feel great?
I'd rather fucking die than have a purely cold shower.
I haven't had a warm shower for the past 5 years or so
But imagine having one if you live somewhere the heat is intolerable, it would be a godsend.
DWM continues to have fuck nothing to talk about in the wasteland of no S11 news
in times of misfortune, we suffer together as one
The Bad Wolf created the War Doctor, CMV
I live in a hot enough country and I hate summer, and I would still rather die than have a purely cold shower. They're torture.
That logo's quality is so poor.
Get well soon Nilso, that sounds awful.
Oh shit it's out?
Love me an ice cold shower now and again sometimes when it's not even hot. I love boiling hot showers too fwiw. I just love showers in general! I don't like warm or cool showers much though - really hot, utterly lukewarm, or freezing cold, those are the best.
I'll care when they go back into the past and give the books the respect they deserve instead of sucking at BF's dismal, unhealthy teat.
Did you ever read/hear my ST2 fic/audio about that?
>when people can't understand Ghost Light
Should Doctor Who get more political?
This comic deeply offended Nilso, so much that he was on the verge of tears.
Should you start posting coherent posts again?
Name a single detail of that posts that was incoherent.
>when you fuck up your grammar in a post trying to flex how coherent you're being
at least you tried
Nilso is the new Doctor, in a brilliant marketing move Jodie has pretended to be the Doctor all this time to lure people away from Nilso at the filming locations. This will mark the first gay trans black ace cishet Doctor, Chibnall is my uncle this is all true.
Nilso gender and race are unknown anon
Cheers, I'll probably get around to it next weekend, no spoilies please D:
Because you won't see this coming.
Remember when DATA threw his comunicator onto the reactors core because it was the most random thing that a holodeck could react to
a BBC spokeperson has commented on the Nilso Doctor saying The Nilso Doctor will bring a new age of acceptance into Doctor Who. Being the first Brazilian and black Doctor Padre will be a welcomed addition into the Doctor Who universe.
These ideas of a Nilso Doctor, while fascinating and enjoyable, strike me as not reaching the full potential of casting Nilso - why should Nilso be relegated to playing the Doctor, when he could spearhead a franchise of his own? Why can't The Nilso become a Time Lord in their own right?
The Nilso Chronicles Volume 1 by Nick Briggs and Matt Fitton. Coming soon to Briggs Finish.
A Tale of Two Nilsos
Nilso's voice done by the narrator
The War Nilso
Nilso meets the 9th Doctor. Both are played by Briggs
What if Loz returned to write a Nilsovel (a Nilso novel)
The Nilso as a Timelord idea was spread around Briggs Finish headquaters the other day, Nicholas was for it but other people intervened saying it wasn't a smart idea. The Nilso Timelord had too many issues to work out with for Briggs Finish to see it as worth pushing instead of Doctor Who: Peckish starring Paul McGann.
Fact is, BF have to know they have a smash hit on their hands with Nilso. Why aren't they acting already!?
Nilso will be appearing in a short trip featuring McGann and Fischer but that's it for this month
Nilso isn't the only one like fire and ice and rage right now
I'm feeling extraordinarily positive towards Sandifer today. She made a very smart tweet or two.
How will they explain the timeline differences between the VNA (Virgin Nilso Adventures) books and the audios. It makes no sense. How many times has Nilsworld been destroyed. Getting old now
it's very early in Nilso's timeline
Nilsos hymen regenerates in the second book. Get your Nilslore straight
Remember when they threw a tantrum because they weren't allowed on set?
We already knew it was October so this is really just like spinning a wheel and landing on one out of like 4 options.
Why is it that the 8th doctor boxsets Briggs Finish puts out have all been written by 2 or 3 people for the past decade?
The same reason Simon Nye never wrote an episode after Series 5.
Briggs Finish presents
Doctor Who: White Noise
Featuring Paul McGann, Nicholas Briggs and the return of the Bannermen
Twitch stream is already a success. The chat is full of people.
are they saying t. nilso?
Got my account all set up and ready. What's the purpose of this going to be, /who/pilling everyone, educating them about proper kino or being insufferable?
The chat already seems pretty pro-Capaldi desu.
anyone have a link the chat?
There has literally not been a single post
Have you taken the Nilpill?
post what name you're spamming nilso in the chat under
Anon, twitch only starts showing messages sent after you join
>What's the purpose of this going to be, /who/pilling everyone, educating them about proper kino or being insufferable?
We are going to be the only patricians in the chat. Our job is to be a vocal advocacy bloc for true kino. If our voice is heard, we can steer the discourse and shift the Overton window.
A total of 3 good episodes being streamed today out of 13
>most people from /who/ used their actual /who/ usernames
Shut up, The Daleks is GOAT
What's wrong with that?
bit of a disappointment
I had this twitch account and I don't want to create another one
on second thought i'll just use my trip name since i see other streamchads and trips using theirs
kindanonymouss because apparently it was taken without the extra s
>You are banned from talking in twitchpresents
That was fast
lmfao what did you say
Why? You just posted t.Nilso twice.
I knew that rascal was behind it
Is anyone going to start a /tv/ thread for the stream?
no thanks, don't want boardies ruining the fun
the chat is 90% cws at this point lmao
>Your whisper was not delivered because the recipient's settings prevent them from receiving it.
inhibited enzymes wiki article when
Thanks. Cleared everything up
is the chat just full of memelords
It's basically just a /who/ thread
>You are banned from talking in twitchpresents
This is fucking ridiculous.
Who do you think “inhibits” the enzymes?
What happened this time
you nilsopost too much
I literally have no idea, I think it's detecting me posting Nilso a lot yeah
i got banned for saying press 1 if nilso
You fucks better be taking chat screengrabs. I'm expecting a wiki article documenting them.
Ingiga here, I'm padre_nilso_fan
why the fuck are they banning nilsoposts on sight? just the fact that it's a word that's getting repeated by multiple people must mean it's code for something they'd rather not enable?
i'm already laughing out loud irl because neo can't post the word nilso
neo bullying cathartic for being a gamer in the stream
You autists all started spamming it right at the start and made it painfully obvious that it was spam, so why wouldn't they block it?
tell him that nilso is a funny word to say
I have yet to be asked about nilso despite being nilsos fan
This is literally fucking reddit tier cuckery censorship
I will laugh when you get full on banned and miss out on all the memery
yfw /who/ prematurely shot its nilso wad on what was supposed to be a dry run and now it has something of a mess on its hands
it looks like Nilso in inhibiting random twitch people's enzymes
The normies have caught the Nilsoposting virus
THIS IS THE ONE THING I DIDN'T WANT TO HAPPEN
Can we meme Nilso into being referenced on the show
there are atleast 2 people in the stream who now think nilso is an actual doctor who character
ok i downloaded the app, made an account, searched for "twitchpresents"… Am I completely stupid? How do I watch the Doctor Who stream? It doesnt seem obvious
lads we're really doing it
Getting messages deleted again?
lmao that's so inaccurate
is the twitch stream free?
who the clapping clinkclank is nilso
Is this sustainable? Multiple boardies are taking the Nilpill. Will we inevitably lose critical mass when the chat fills up, or is this working as setting the tone for the chat?
I don’t think you can go I the chat until they start streaming on mobile

someone should post it in the stream
twitch is banning nilsoposters
getting messages removed for using the word "perverted" not even in a bad way
meanwhile bethesda is announcing new fallout or something…?
Yeah Fallout is cool but what about Nilso
yeah twitch chat on this bethesda stream is hilarious
glad that todd posting will be back
There'll be two people on the Yogscast section named Matt and Billy - both are anorak as fuck and are pretty much /ourguys/
34.7826086957 seconds = 1 Nilso
Wait never mind me, that's 0.1 Nilsos
>when boardies ask who nilso is
there has been a decline in nilsoposting we must pick up the speed
[spoiler[Sorry I left[s/eroi
saving my nilso energy for the morning when the streams actually going
This is why I don't watch Christmas specials
THere is no reason Deep Breath couldn’t be an hour long or even 45 minutes
And It's Beautiful.
>verified Dalek account joins
>insults everyone in the chat
A verified user called Dalek_Cookie joined the Twitch chat and started calling everyone nerds.
>nilso will never be a twitch meme
it hurts bros
What's that mean, verified?
dalek cookie in the stream!!
>having some special signifier by their name like they're better then everyone else
Let's dogpile dalek_cookie. That shit ain't what Dr Who is about
>tfw nobody's reacting to anything I say in the chat
FUCK THIS I NEED (you)'S TO SURVIVE
is this going to be worth staying up for? it's already very late
Important male fashion question [are
Someone will make notes for other people if some need to drop off
terrible she was over used and was given poor scripts that made her character not have a true arch.
is this really what it's like when a large group of fans gather? they just shout their boring and shitty opinions into the void nonstop
It's not really gathering, it's an online stream chat with a fucking insane set of rules. Hardly how would act in person, or even on a site with some semblance of class like here.
This actually just depresses me because there are so many comments from people that are just earnestly looking forward to it, or sharing their opinions, and we're bullying them.
maybe they should get better opinions then
Do Americans really do this? How on Earth are they getting "bullied"?
Yeah, that about describes /who/ to a t.
popping down the shops lads, anyone want anything
You're typing it now, aren't you, you faggots.
Screenshots of the twitch chat so I can go to sleep after An Unearthly Child
get me some lager lad it's well peng to watch the footie with lad
Australians staying awake until two in the morning so they can shitpost. Absolutely outstanding
>come back an hour and a half later
>you all got bored
No alarms and no surprises
excited for all these boardies to get mad at unearthly child for being in black and white
Nice revisionist history.
There's no way we'll be able to nilsopost against them.
I'm only seeing like 2 or 3 /who/res still posting.
We intentionally stopped doing it remember, because we didn't want boardies to harass irl Nilso.
We chose to do that remember. Our choice.
We had fun absolutely dominating the twitch chat with Nilsoposting, but decided to stop it of our own accord in the end so the actual Nilso wouldn't have to put up with the masses of non /who/res we were converting. Nice to see we could indeed do it though.
Nice revisionist history.
Killing time for the next hour so I can watch the first episode on twitch and then sleep and maybe catch the second stream for later episodes
Nice original post and concept. Oh wait, revisionist history blocked by my record keeping here >>38619
>decided to stop it of our own accord in the end so the actual Nilso wouldn't have to put up with the masses of non /who/res we were converting
When/where was this decided? Was it upthread? I've been out for an hour and a half.
It wasn't decided, he's just randomly making it up.
Nice revisionist history.
Ohhhh, he's just feeling BTFO because I was right about you guys not being able to take over the chat with Nilsoposting. Ouch
Nice revisionist history. Awfully convenient you weren't there to see it yet somehow know more about it than those who were.
It's Neo trying to rewrite history. But you can't rewrite one line.
But I agree y'all should hold off. Keep it up, and we'll disrupt people's experience, and might literally get the BBC's attention.
(However, if this ends with an official BBC article containing the word "Nilso", I will laugh out loud.)
>Keep it up, and we'll disrupt people's experience, and might literally get the BBC's attention.
there's almost 3,000 people in the chat right now, you nerd
I'm interpreting the account offered by that anon in conjunction with your currently extremely butthurt behaviour, in order to draw the simplest conclusion from the available evidence. I feel like some guy made up a name for that, once upon a time.
>neo's not even in the chat
He got banned for posting nilso, post posting t. Nilso
You know… it's not even that funny of a word.
It's not very fun to type either.
The mere fact we got "nilso" banned shows we did indeed post it to critical mass. Well done /who/!
I got banned just for TBposting on my own, it's not that hard.
Do you think "pretending that doctor who is anime" thing is funny? Because seems like it will be dominant narrative. Not Nilso. Sad.
I've had it up to here with you lately. You have no idea the hell I can unleash on you. I think you're forgetting something I have in my arsenal, an old friend you might call it, that I have no compunctions about using if you foolishly insist on continuing to maintain this narrative of yours. I will fucking end you.
Only if they add the third doctor anime into the stream.
I want to be asleep. I have things to do tomorrow.
>6:24 Bin58: Whoever said Ian Levine passed away got me so EXCITED. But noope
THIS GUY IS FUCKING BASED.
I keep getting banned for all caps, it's bullshit
That’s not an uncommon opinion
RIP Ian Levine = first official Twitch meme
Just got banned for laughing at Ian Levine's "death".
Just read "Sudden infant death syndrome (Delayed Onset)" as one of Hartnell's illnesses on the wiki and I can't stop giggling.
I AM THE DOCTOR AND YOU ARE THE DALEKS
>You are banned from talking in twitchpresents for 3564 more seconds.
PAUL CORNELL IN THE STREAM HOLY SHIT
NOT A DRILL
NEO GET THE FUCK IN HERE NOW
PAUL CORNELL IS IN THE FUCKING STREAM
why are they spoiling stuff
>spoiling everything interesting that happens BEFORE it starts
this is the stupidest thing I have ever seen
Holy shit that woke meta take on 1 not being a Time Lord
how are you not flipping into maximum meme override from the presence of Paul JUSTell
Shagger is an alpha male, I would never disrespect him.
I want to know precisely which idiot thought the right way to introduce a new audience to Doctor Who was to explain every major plot point of the entire first upcoming season and a half.
It’s not like the audience will see half the black and white episodes in this stream, who gives a shit about the story?
Paul "I Will Never Write For Doctor Who Again, But I WILL Appear On A PreShow For Twitch' Cornell
>who gives a shit about the story
modern Doctor Who fans everyone
Moments like Ian and Barbara effectively being kidnapped, Hartnell preparing to bash someone over the head with a rock, these could be fun surprises for new viewers.
