From the old general:

>Alright, let's get some discussion going:

>Which Doctor would you most like to see played by another actor to have played the Doctor, and who?

>I'd like to see Colin Baker (as he was in the Eighties) playing the Twelfth Doctor now - see how he'd do in a show that wasn't being run into the ground (as much.)

>Which Doctor would you most like to see played by another actor to have played the Doctor, and who?

this sentence confuses me

 No.5212

>>5211
Of all the actors who've played the Doctor, which would you most like to see playing a different Doctor? Like Colin Baker as 12 or whatever.

 No.5218

>>5212
None

That's the point of playing The Doctor I guess?
Each actor brought their own representation of the character and are known for that representation.
We've already had Colin as 6. 12 is angry and irascible like 6 but totally different, as Capaldi has brought his own interpretation to the fold.

 No.5219

>>5218
Fair point. I guess then this question's more about eras of Doctor Who. For example, what would it have been like if Peter Capaldi had played the First Doctor (and not been five years old at the time)? He could probably have carried the show into being what it is today, but what about someone like Peter Davison?

He's not as bad as some make him out to be, but I basically grew up with his era so I guess I've got the nostalgia.
Episodes like Kinda and Snakedance are pretty damn good (Moffat's on record as saying they're basically the only two decent Doctor Who episodes, but he says he was ridiculously drunk at the time), and Caves of Androzani is fantastic. Also the Black Guardian trilogy is pretty damn solid, though it sags a little in the middle.

Battlefield's not as good. Comfy, but not the best in terms of episodes.

Here's a fanfic account with some stories set in the Battlefield alt-verse. Start with "Nine Queens", then go to "Listen,Learn, Read On", then read any of the other DW stories (most of them are set in her "Book Of Taliesin" series, which is the alt-verse one.) Special attention goes to "Thorns", which can be read as a stand-alone, and is good on its own.

It's one of the few episodes that has a villain really interrogate the Doctor on the morality of his actions, and maybe have a point. The "you can do so much evil, but feel okay because you spared one little girl's life" is a rather deep scene.

>The "you can do so much evil, but feel okay because you spared one little girl's life" is a rather deep scene.
Definitely agree. That tends to be used in a lot of things to show that "oh, maybe this villain's not so bad after all". Except not killing someone isn't a good deed, it's basic decency and it's not redeemed you as a person if you'll happily kill others.
Very poignant for Nine, fresh from the Time War, to be the one pointing this out too.

Honestly, what bothers me about this site is the little things that make 4chan so much more convenient to use. I like being able to highlight a section of text and click reply and the text is automatically quoted in the reply. And here if you close the quick reply box without posting, the text stays there the next time you open it. If I close the reply box after typing something it's because I decided not to post what I typed. I want it to go away without having to manually delete it by highlighting it and pressing delete. Then there's that thing on top of the screen that shows the most popular boards and has a few options. Is there a way to hide that? When you click a link to a post it covers up the post number and the replies so you have to scroll up ever so slightly to get to them. It's great that we can post sound webms and pdfs and all, but little things like that bother me.

 No.5517

Oh, and 4chan having a "post a reply" button at the bottom of the page. Here if you want to reply to the thread in general you have to scroll up to the top or click a post number and then delete it from the reply box. Just little inconveniences, you know? I hope most of this stuff will get better with time as Hotwheels works to improve the site, but yeah.
