This is Emergency Programme One. Neo, now listen, this is important. If this message is activated, then it can only mean one thing. We must be in danger. And I mean fatal. I'm dead or about to die any second with no chance of escape.

And that's okay. Hope it's a good death. But I promised to look after you, and that's what I'm doing. The streambros are taking you home.

And I bet you're fussing and moaning now. Typical. But hold on and just listen a bit more. The streambros can never return for me. Emergency Programme One means I'm facing an enemy that should never get their hands on this general. So this is what you should do: let the general die. Just let this old thread gather dust. No one can open it, no one'll even notice it. Let it become a strange little board at the edge of 8chan. And over the years, the world'll move on and the general will be buried. And if you want to remember me, then you can do one thing. That's all, one thing. Have a good life. Do that for me, Neo. Have a fantastic life.

A question on the episode of Doctor Who: S6-E0.

A Christmas Carol.

So River Song is known for many things but this one thing, that I am alluding to in this post, is her hallucinogenic lipstick. I was watching "Doctor Who " A christmas Carol and I caught something I had not noticed before. When Young Kazran found Abigail by the pool he found her pretty upset. Not noticing, He told her that The Doctor was going to do a duet with frank but she started to confess her secret, making you think that maybe, just this once, someone is going to actually say what is going on.

But no. The Doctor Interrupts.

As he bursts in he says that the three of them need to go because he accidentally got engaged to Marilyn Monroe. But he had a lipstick mark on the right side of his face which is usually where River Song kisses people with this hallucinogenic compound

Was River Song Marilyn Monroe in this instance or am I reading into it to much.

I know I could google it but this show makes me so happy and I want to talk to people that are made happy by this show. Sorry if this was a waste of your time.

Ian Chesterton is a GOAT companion. More than that, he's a decent human being and a great role model. Much of what he's done is based on his human decency, he does what he thinks what is right, without bullshit and trickery. Overall he's probably my fav, he's so good. Reddit doesn't understand him at all btw, they all like Barbara more. Phew. Honestly, reddit sucks. Tom Baker era could be a great opportunity to bring him back by the way, I feel like Harry is trying to imitate ian alot. Honestly, bringing Ian back isnt that bad at all, think about it. Every time I watched black and white era I smile. Yes, every time. Kino, pure kino. Even for a small cameo, they should have brought him back. Even for one scene. Powerful character. Maybe one day i'll teach my children to be like Ian. Even if that kills them, they'll be decent people. Heart will be in the right place. One day, he shall come back. Special figure for the history of doctor who. Totally brave, honest and just a good man. A fantastic character. Golden man. Epic.

Curious why you are asking this. A big part of me thinks you want someone to return. Like, you really want it. Love is driving you. Then you should probably do something. Homer once said "if you are looking for someone, then there's a reason he's away from you". Even if you thing what you doing is enough, it's probably wrong. Push yourself. Offer yourself, dedicate yourself to the search. Live for it. Ice will melt. Curtain will drop. Eventually you'll find him.

I’m glad his firing has made the daleks more invonvenient for Chibnall so he hasn’t used them

 No.69372

Ah, logic. The garlic to vampiric, cretinous plebs. However, it's not something one is likely to find in the works of modern showrunners, content with propagating pitiful piles of offal. Logic in the BBC is truly dead. Why is that, you ask? Well, it all started with the dullest franchise in the history of television franchises. Each episode following the renegade Time Lord and their pals from modern-day Earth as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the camp imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make time travel unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Chibnall vetoed the idea of Talalay directing the series; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for his TV series'. The Doctor Who series might be anti-conservatism (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Star Trek series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the audios were good though

"No!"

The writing is dreadful; the audios are terrible. As I listened, I noticed that every time a character was teleported, Nick Briggs insisted instead that the character "encountered a transmat beam."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped listening only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Briggs' mind is so governed by fanservice and dead references that he has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Doctor Who by the same Steven Moffat. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are watching Doctor Who at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to watch Sherlock." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you watch Doctor Who you are, in fact, trained to like Steven Moffat.

The next two streams (Saturday and Tuesday) - things get quite a bit more interesting now.

The two "big" stories of Saturday are The Victorian Age (Jack and Queen Victoria) and the 1920s segments of Immortal Sins from Miracle Day (~30m). The rest are interludes covering Torchwood's earliest history chronologically.

On Tuesday, the two main stories are The Dying Room (Torchwood in the 1940s - features Nazis) and The Dollhouse (Torchwood in L.A. in the 1970s), along with other interludes featuring 20th century Torchwood.

These will be really interesting experiences, the chronological material from the audios and TV. We've pivoted from Jack's perspective now to Torchwood's itself.

Some of those are better.

The Judgement is snappier than Trial of a Timelord.

Terror on Lakertia is less of a mess of a title than Time and the Rani.

The Hand of Omega is cooler sounding than Remembrance of the Daleks, which I always found to be a clumsy title. Bonus points for not including the name of the villains in the episode title, so their reveal is a surprise.

Excalibur's Legacy has more character, but maybe gives too much away.

The House of a Thousand Horrors is campy. I like it.

Death on Quiet Soles/Tiptoes just sounds really cool.

Are you ready for some CANON stories?

Forget your shitty non-canon BF and even more noncanon nuwho, something worthy is coming:

Doctor Who Infinity (Doctor Who videogame!)

Written by actual Doctor Who writers with some experience in writing Doctor Who.

List of currently known episodes:

STORY ONE: THE DALEK INVASION OF TIME

Written by George Mann, drawn by Mike Collins (stoyboarder for TV series), and colored by Kris Carter. Voice overs were recorded with Michelle Gomez ("Missy"), Ingrid Oliver ("Osgood") and Bella Ramsey (from Game of Thrones). Voice overs were directed by Scott Handcock (Michelle Gomez, Bella Ramsey) and Navid Khonsari (Michelle Gomez)

A tragic event on the edge of the Time War has led to the unlikely creation of a dangerous new type of Dalek hybrid, after a gifted young child is forced to survive by hooking herself into a Dalek life-support system.

As the young girl tries to exact her revenge, the Twelfth Doctor, Missy, Bill and Nardole find themselves in the midst of a full-scale assault on Earth’s timeline.

As the invasion spreads, and the Doctor is forced to turn to some of his closest allies for assistance, can they stop this new enemy? And must the Doctor do the unthinkable and ally with the Daleks to save Earth?

STORY TWO: THE ORPHANS OF THE POLYOPTRA

Written by]Gary Russell (as his final Doctor Who story), drawn by David Roach, and colored by Dylan Teague. Voice over was recorded with Katy Manning ("Jo Grant") and directed by Gary Russell.

The story, as told in flashback by Jo Jones to her nephew in the style of a classic Doctor Who 4-part story arc, begins at the height of World War 2 as the Third Doctor and Jo Grant find themselves trapped in what appears to be a German bombing in a small mining town.

Here they meet a young orphan girl and her strange companion, who are not at all what they appear to be, and who desperately need their help to travel back to 1842, to a time when the local children still faced the treacherous danger of daily work in the mines.

STORY THREE: THE LADY OF THE LAKE

The Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler find themselves pulled into a thematic retelling of a legendary Welsh tale whilst visiting the Black Mountains of Wales.

Written by Scott Handcock

Drawn/Inked by Neil Edwards

Colored by John-Paul Bove

and Dylan Teague

Voiced by: Celyn Jones, Katy Manning, Marilyn Le Conte

Voice Direction by Gary Russell

STORY FOUR: THE SILENT STREET OF BARRY ISLAND

I couldn't find a full synopsis for this one but it features 11, Amy and Rory and it's set in the 60s.

Written by: Jacqueline Rayner

Released 8th August, apparently each episode is supposed to last 10-15 hours.

It's not free, each story costs 5 dollars or something.

I saw a fanmade reconstruction on the internet, but yes, a lot of new people would have bought just over the hype of it being a newly uncovered episode.

Hearing some chatter that Nilso is a fiscal conservative. Ran it by my usual contacts and they're all too spooked to talk. Bastard's got them fearing for their lives. Gonna have to go deep underground to dig up this dirt.

Give me three days.

Remember what you said

You know the part about life

Is just a waking dream

Well, I know what you mean

But that ain't how it seems right here, right now

How can this be real?

I can barely feel

Anymore

Reminder that Moff never asked Simon Nye to come back because he wrote the best episode of series 5 and Moff wouldn't allow anyone to be better than him

 No.69518

Simon Nye truly had his finger on the pulse of s5's themes, more than any writer other than Moffat himself. He used to his advantage the colourful, excitable vibe of this brand new era with a young, quirky Doctor and an unlikely village-bound couple, by having them face a threat kids could find simultaneously funny and scary, and adults could find amusing and disturbing, all the while examining the very idea of the character the Doctor had become. The episode flows between scenes about the "attack of the old people" and the Doctor intending to "poke them with a stick" (where, soon after, the three find piles of dust which they quickly realise are the remains of schoolchildren), to scenes in which the Doctor's morality is attacked psychologically through the mouth of his 'evil' counterpart - dressed as a butcher, of all things. The most telling moment of the series is probably Nye effortlessly balancing the dramatics of Rory whacking an old lady with a plank alongside the sheer hilarity of it. Amy's Choice easily carried the style that Moff could only have dreamt of writing for The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang.
