Conversely, classifying by genitals has objective value since it is the most accurate broad measure to determine procreational compatibility. There are individuals with both genital types that are unable to procreate for various reasons, but they are statistical outliers and not relevant for broad umbrella categorisation.

Genital type (and body features biologically associated with humans with that genital type) are also the main contributors to sexual arousal, so using that system of classification allows for accurate definition of sexual identities

never voiced my writers thoughts on this so I may as well now

believe it or not there was actual thought put into it

The initial idea was writing yaoi that was as explicit as possible. Adric was the obvious choice, but I had to think who to ship him with.

At some point I thought of Adam, and made the connection that they were both similar boy genius archetypes. I immediately knew what had to be done with him, so it was an easy decision

The ‘addy’ thing came about because when making up initial dialogue I was writing it like a script and wanted to abbreviate their names, but I had to get to ADA and ADR for their names to deviate - so I thought it would be funny if they both used the same pet name for each other like a dorky nerd couple

I made the first drawing intentionally shittier to lull the reader into a false sense of security of it just being low effort basic yaoi, before confronting them with the ultimate direction of the story and the more detailed second picture

I considered adding more detail to the introduction about what their current lives were like - Adam would have just been fired because of sexual assault allegations (referencing irl bruno langley) and he was stressing out over where to find a job that wouldn’t have clicking sounds. Adric was going to be the inventor of bitcoin because math skills. I cut it because I figured it was just wasting time before getting to the main event, so instead there’s just a quick opening hook where you aren't even told their names and a flashback to explain how they met.

Even though it’s a crack ship I wanted to make some in-universe reason for it to be possible. In Earthshock the only reason they give for the ship going back in time is cyber technology interfering, so I used the same excuse.

I’m curious to know at what point you figured out the ultimate direction of the story and the wordplay of 'mind blown' - whether you predicted it ahead of time or if the “snap” was the point of revelation

can we talk for a minute about how shitty the coral tardis's console was?

it's literally just random shit loosely scattered on a metal grate. You never even see closeups of it in the show because they didn't want you to notice how low effort it was. In BTS videos you can even see the loose keyboards and shit moving around when it gets hit by the mallet

Buzzfeed does for its listicle shit but Buzzfeed is completely legit and reputable in other sections like News, so zero chance there. Cracked has open submissions for pretty much everything, but they're not a walk in the park. Still, it's doable, but you really, really have to put the effort in on Twitter for networking if you want to actually go beyond "got a listicle published on Cracked once" and eventually actually make some manner of money.

Some writers do actually have comms/journalism degrees, and they can help (both in networking and writing skills, and perhaps eventually money negotiations if you ever got far enough), but that's not hugely important for the type of stuff you seem to be gunning for.

A few people from my degree back in uni were trying to do this sort of thing but they all failed. In Australia I imagine you'd aim for Betoota but they don't have open submissions so yeah you'd need some combination of a degree/nepotism/connections/legit following online.

>>78734

A couple of years ago I started forcing myself to write a review of everything I watched/read/etc. to brute force myself into being more mindful and attentive when watching/reading, and to get better at articulating myself. Taking notes helps. Voice/fanciness is just someone's personal style and largely comes down to what they personally read (us all saying "verged" now is the exact same as critics using similar language). Basically a combination of reading more to improve your vocab/writing skills, and writing more to get your thoughts down and have more to say.

"hmm the cinematography was exquisite" might sound fancy but is shit-tier criticism fwiw, but cinematography is something even many critics have shit all understanding of.

 No.78738

>>78734

Another thing is that you have to want to write it in the first place for it to be anywhere near readable/legible. I remember back in college that people used to hand in about 2 pages of A4 for a review of something and get a bare pass mark while I was there putting in about 12+ pages. Looking back at it I wonder why I put in so much effort for something that I could easily not try at all and still succeed in.

It's all very well saying that "I liked the cinematography in X so it's good" but if you don't stop yourself and say "Why do I feel this way about X's cinematography?" it's not very in-depth or thought through.

How'd that work out for you? I started doing something similar recently, taking notes while watching movies with the intention of writing short reviews after each one for practice. I got like half-way through the first review and gave up. I had some ideas about the film but it just felt too artificial trying to force them into the format of a formal review so I got bored.

Brevity is much better than length. Lots of people make the mistake that for something to have meat to it it should be long - the opposite is true. The more you can say with less words the better. If your paragraphs are nicely split according to topic/thought then you're fine. Up to you whether you want to do the whole review review song and dance (prefacing with details of the crew and cast and that sort of thing); I think it's literally pretentious if you're not actually being published, but ymmv.

Capaldi is known to be THE most hung guy in the UK, possibly one of the biggest in the world. his cock has been described as "like an evian bottle", with gargantual thickness that would rival shane diesel and shorty mac. im estimating his size to be at least 8.5" bone pressed, with OVER 7" of girth. he would have absolutely destroyed coleman's pussy. They would have spent hours and hours on foreplay, getting herself wet enough just so she can take it. i can just imagine her begging for it, with Capaldi barely able to force it past the knob, and coleman moaning and squirming, demanding him to force it in deeper. she would have orgasm'd within seconds of taking the entire length, being filled and stretched right up to her cervix.. the orgasm would have been powerful, with her vaginal muscles clamping down on Capaldi's throbbing monstrosity, her whole body quivering in euphoria. I bet she still masturbates to the memory of it

 No.79060

>Except for a smallish scene in season two’s “The Chase,” “The War Machines” was the first time Doctor Who had come back to present-day Earth since the series’ debut. This was a purposeful move away from the historical stories and fanciful sci-fi that had dominated earlier—here, a big part of the thrill for viewers in 1966 would have been the notion that WOTAN and its War Machines were just a hair’s breadth away from being real.

>One last thing that struck me as odd is the way WOTAN behaves, even considering that it’s a telepathic megalomaniacal supercomputer that wants to take over the world. It has to do with its relationship to the Doctor, and just how self-aware it actually is. The fact that the story lacks a definitive, direct confrontation between the two characters, though, means that I’m not sure if the story truly supports my theory of what’s going on here. and I could be mistaking sloppiness on the part of the scriptwriters and producers for a deliberate plan. Bearing that in mind, a couple of facts to consider: First, WOTAN correctly answers Dodo’s question about what the acronym TARDIS stands for, when there’s no possible way it could have that information in its databanks. True, we do find out pretty quickly that WOTAN has the power to mentally control humans, and it might also have the related ability to read minds, so maybe it just plucked the answer out of Dodo’s own head. But then there’s the way it phrases the demand that forms the first-episode cliffhanger: “Doctor Who is required. Bring him here.” What’s wrong with that phrasing is that our hero is never called “Doctor Who” in the story itself—not just in “The War Machines” but in every Doctor Who episode for nearly 50 years. He’s only called “Doctor Who” in the title and the closing credits. Now, that could simply be a sloppy mistake in the script that was just never edited out. But how about the fact that WOTAN is listed in the actor’s credits—as playing itself. What if WOTAN is not merely a computer that woke up one day and became a sentient being, but a computer that woke up one day and realized that it was a fictional character in the TV series Doctor Who?

>If so, no wonder it was so insistent that it wanted the Doctor to come back and confront it—if you’re playing the villain on a Doctor Who serial, that’s what’s supposed to happen. You prove your worth by getting the Doctor to treat you as a major-league threat. That might also explain why the War Machines it designs have one camera-like eye, two armlike limbs consisting of a gunstick and a club, and the general appearance of a human-sized tank—it’s trying to recreate the Daleks, the Doctor’s most popular enemies, and capture some of that popularity for itself. (Which is what the producers were trying to do also, really.) If that’s the case, it’s not coincidental that the Doctor’s sense of foreboding about WOTAN in the opening scene is explicitly linked to the Daleks. And it also puts a new spin on the Doctor’s reaction after WOTAN’s failed attempt to mind-control him over the phone in episode two: “It was if something enormous and terrific was trying to absorb me!” (And it’s very interesting, with all this in mind, to consider that the final-boss enemy in the most metatextually self-aware story in series history, “The Mind Robber,” is also a faceless computer.) If all that is true, then WOTAN’s true goal is not to take over the world or to exterminate the human race, but to be taken seriously as a worthy competitor to the main character of the show. In which case, it fails: The Doctor refuses to grant WOTAN its demand of a face-to-face meeting, and kills it by sending one of its own bastardized creations to shut it down. It’s almost as if he knew all along what the real stakes of the story were, and beat WOTAN by ending the story on his own terms.

>I’ve said before that Japan (the fictional Japan of 1990s America, constructed through the distorted lens of its often poorly localized artifacts) almost killed me. That might have been uncharitable of me. Yes, the culture I consumed from Japan was full of crappy gender stereotypes and cross-dressing gags, and it did delay my transition. It hurt me, like so many other things hurt me, without my even being fully aware of it.

Any more thoughts on Perfect Authentic Cadence or Drawn on a Supernova? Nilso, did you give a review?

 No.79124

>>79122

the face on the left looks great but I still hate how armoured and robotic they look. the original cybermen work because you can see there's an organic person inside it, most designs since are just generic robo-men

cybermen should primarily be ideologically threatening, not physically threatening

 No.79125

>>79124

Sure, the armoured look is a shame, but I think we're stuck with that now. Hard to justify why the Cybermen would just stop armouring their soldiers. Ideally, I'd like a gross noisy breathing unit on the front, also, but again, hard to justify.

 No.79126

>>79125

actually looking at the concept art more I have to say the armoured look is fucking sexy, it just doesn't match the cybermen. but I love the shoulders and arms - they're really imposing - and the interlocking pieces make it look like a futuristic knight which is great.

>Hard to justify why the Cybermen would just stop armouring their soldiers

you don't need to give it an in-universe justification. you just do a new good design and never address it. it's never made sense that the cybermen and daleks have "current' designs which we always see anyway, since the doctor travels all throughout time. he should be bumping into older models just as often as he sees new ones

 No.79127

>>79126

I guess. Seems like the BBC would opt to avoid confusing casual audiences though.

 No.79128

>>79127

casual audiences are the last people that change would confuse. the only people who would be "confused" are pedantic fans

 No.79129

I'm imagining now if the breathing unit had become more of an iconic part of the Cyberman design. They could make a rattling breathy noise, and contain visible moving parts. Really gross clumsy mechanical things.

It's possible she could be bad but I think that will ultimately depend on whether she's given any serious scenes and/or how she handles them. I'm fully prepared for a "the writing" scenario
