I thought the donut bar was just a normal bar in the bad side of Canterlot… The only thing special about it being the occupants and the seemingly unending supply of couches in it for some reason.

All I have is an ancient screencap from the original Donut Bar, and that'd be kinda weaksauce as our only banner.

As for playing multiple characters, you're welcome to do so. Just try not to do anything metagamey or otherwise annoying (i.e., if you have two characters, and another character attacks one of them, don't suddenly make your second character hate the attacker). When in doubt, ask yourself: Would this make a good story?

I, uh, had intended for anyone to be allowed to make a thread for another location. In fact, I was kind of counting on it. If you're going off to some other place, feel free to make it into a separate thread. Ideally, the OP should have a basic description of where you're at--say, "The stairs leading up to the Bar's rooms-for-rent seem to go on forever, but before you know it you're standing in front of a long line of doors" etc etc--and then some information about how a character would get there, in either greentext or spoilers.

However, there's no hard and fast rule. Go fucking nuts. I'm not gonna demand that all threads follow some list of "ideal" criteria, I'm just gonna ask that you don't make a dozen threads to advertise your OC donut steel models or whatever.

So, there's a few places that could be added. There's Vasnesh's large complex of webs, which I'd cheekily call the Webworks, as a kind of weird semi-private addition to the Bar.

True enough, depending. I had figured that would be full-private. I doubt Vasnesh would be cool with people getting it on in his webs.

Well, I am Vasnesh's player, I just would rather OOC go by SSBro because I love shapeshifter characters (and necromancers and mindfuckers). Vasnesh has no problem with anyone in his webs, it's not like he needs to eat anymore, and he's got webs attached to anyone he can. All about being safe, man.

Speaking of, what else was the old bar like? Obviously never been there.

Old Bar was...interesting.

Mostly horses, because it was started and maintained on Ponychan (shudder). There were some Homestuck characters too. But the real attraction was the off-the-wall character ideas, and the mashups.

Angry Marines chatting it up with eldritch bartenders. Angels and Demons having a cup of coffee. There was one guy who had an entire canon put together based around an entity/realm known as the Void, which was really cool until he stopped making new story arcs.

There were people playing any sort of creature you could imagine, and meeting any other sort of creature you could imagine. There were plushie ponies running for president on a platform of "Squeak", at least two different Deaths (possibly more), and tiny rabbit girls who commandeered an entire army of snuggly widdle wabbits to hug anyone she met. There were people from post-apocalyptic universes, people from magical worlds, people who were ordinary until they came to the Bar.

And then all the cool people left and/or turned into assholes. The last straw for me was when an arc that started as a crossover of an obscure anime and what looked like a new take on the Universe Police turned into "let's just throw Buu into the bar and see what happens". At that point, I figured that the place was circling the drain, and started thinking about making this place, in search of new people and new content.

Well let's hope this one goes for longer before the autism sets in.

Unfortunately, the guy who did the most awesome stuff in the old Bar is very angry that I did this, and for good reason--he contributed most of the lore, and in fact he was around long before the Bar was known as the Bar; and all I've done is drag it over to 8chan. But he isn't the type to pull crazy shit over an RP setting. I'm just unhappy that he's not around to be the best GM ever.

Aw. Man. That sucks. I'm sorry. I've got a few references I can pull for my GM credentials, but wasn't sure quite just how the system here worked. I'd love to try some more involved stuff.

The system here is that the GM is everyone and no one at the same time.

There is no central rules authority, really; I'm just here to ban spammers. If all is working properly, you shouldn't ever need me to step in with my board owner tag on.

And, since there's no character sheet to fill out, no approval process, and no limit to the number of characters you play, you can bring in NPCs as you wish. Need a cab driver? Just play him on top of your usual character. Have an epic battle scene coming up? You don't need my OK to play all the minions that get slaughtered. Heck, you could theoretically play someone else's character, although obvious parodies of other people's characters are a bit more appreciated than just taking over for them. That's one place where talking it out OOC is a good idea.

On top of that, you can make threads for anything more complicated than can be done in the Counter. If you're taking Percy and Riley along for a trip to Vasnesh's hometown, you can make a thread for that world, or even just for that adventure.

Finally, if you're doing something adventure-ish, don't be afraid to settle into a sort of GM role. Nobody's gonna be mad at you for playing a bunch of NPCs in an adventure set in a place you've come up with. If you're not sure how people will take to the way you're gonna handle something, ask them!

Anything goes means anything goes. It's kind of anarchy, but hey, it worked the first couple of times.
