EXAMPLE OF CHARACTER CREATION
I've decided to make a Godbound of battle. I'll name him Kegen, or The Eternal and Omnipresent Blade.
>1: Rolling Attributes.
I'll use the Basic Array, assigning my scores as such.
Strength: 16
Dexterity: 8
Constitution:10
Wisdom:14
Intelligence:13
Charisma:13
Growing up, Kegen was not particularly fast or tough, but he was strong, and cannier than normal.
>2: Attributes:
Look at the table and write down the modifiers. The Modifiers are thus:
Strength: +2
Dexterity: -1
Constitution: +0
Wisdom: +1
Intelligence: +1
Charisma: +1
>3: Attribute Checks:
Subtract the attributes from 21 to find the check score. I've got to roll higher than this on a 1d20 for an attribute check.
Strength: 5
Dexterity: 13
Constitution: 11
Wisdom: 7
Intelligence: 8
Charisma: 8
>4: Facts
Decide 3 facts about my hero, One about where they came from, one about how they acquired the skills they used to survive before awakening to their divine power, and the third for some kind of important relationship or organization they are involved with.
1: As Kegen, he grew up abandoned at a monastery in the Toba Plains.
2: He grew up as a hunter of beasts (and sometimes men) alongside his adopted father, giving him an eye for hunting beasts and man of all kinds.
3: After becoming an adult, he spent some time with the Order of Redactors in Vissio, and learned the value of skill and speed over the strength he had in training with them and the weapons they had.
>5: Pick 3 Words.
Easy. Alacrity, Endurance, and Sword. The yearning for speed and toughness has been met with his ascension to Demigodhood.
>6: Record the abilities given by the words.
Looking at the abilities gained from this, it's obvious there's some changes needed to his attributes. Here's the updated Stats.
Dexterity: 16 (Modifier +2, Check: 5)
Constitution: 16 (Modifier +2, Check: 5)
>7: Spend Six Points picking Divine Gifts
Hmmm. Looking over it, Alacrity are mainly useful for immediate situations, and will be mainly used for level up or Miracles.
Onto Endurance.
>6 Left
1 Point for Body of Iron Will
>5 Left
2 Points for the Greater Gift Undying
With this, I'll continue on to Sword.
>3 Left.
I'll pick up the gifts Contempt of Distance, Steel without End, and Thirsting Razor
>0 Left.
>8: Record Saving Throws.
Hardiness: 13
Evasion: 13
Spirit: 14
>9: Choose Weapons and Record Fray Die
Weapons: Heavy 2H Greatsword.
To Hit: +3
Damage: 1d10+2
Fray Die: 1d8
>10: Pick an Armor.
Not Needed
AC: 1
>11: Record HP
HP: 10
>12: Note Effort Score
Effort: 2
>13: Start with 0 Wealth
>14: Start with 0 Experience and Dominion
>15: Start with 2 Influence Points
>16: Record Name, and decisions about looks and actions. Also Record Current Goal.
Name: Eternal and Omnipresent Blade. Kegen wanted a new name to meet his new powers. He's a little standoffish at first, but will go the distance for his true friends. Otherwise he enjoys fighting and hunting challenges.
Goal: Show off his absolute power in battle to people that will appreciate it.
