I would agree with this but since crimson guard was added in it's actually a legit item to build on a ranged utility hero like viper, razor, even death prophet. 50 damage block for 10 seconds regardless if you're ranged or melee is absurdly good.

I have a friend who I helped get into Dota about 8 months ago. He's sorta bad at the game, so Riki is his most played hero by far. He always wants to play matches with me and I beg him not to play heroes like Riki, but he does it anyway and get countered every time. He's level 30, so he doesn't see it happen often in his solo games, but I'm level 60 where people laugh at those Riki players.

honestly?
HONESTLY?
even playing the goddamn game anymore

I haven't had a good, or even a decent game in weeks. every single fucking game i have trash feeders that can't into dota

if i'm not in the offlane, the offlane feeds.
if i'm not mid, the mid loses his lane to a pudge at level one
if i'm not support, we have no wards
if i'm not carry, by 30 minutes the carry has one item and its a hand of midas

every game at least one person says "pick suport"
can you honestly say you've seen one good player who spelled support with one p?

my last game my orange player said "i'm smurf let me mid", he them picked jungle doom and fed 4 kills by 4 minutes to a single roaming mirana. the pudge mid had more deaths than hooks landed and doom used doom on at least 3 linkens spheres.

i don't know why i bother trying anymore its not even fun, not even with friends, even they just do retard shit and we get stomped and that's not fun no matter who you're playing with

>>1166
wow your right

i should have realized that a tidehunter with no levels no mana items and no blink is SO GOOD

Let's compare:

WK
WK has a stun, and a powerful one at that. It's low-cooldown and slows for 2 seconds after the 2 sec stun. It's a 50% uptime disable, which can easily cancel a tp, be used as a setup stun, or even just nuke someone who would otherwise get away.

WK has an AURA that provides 30. PERCENT. LIFESTEAL.
TO HIS ENTIRE TEAM.
ITS LITERALLY BETTER LIFESTEAL THAN AN UNACTIVATED SATANIC.
It also helps him to jungle, even at lower levels, to help him farm up treads/wand/blink/soulring/whatever

Wk's crit is somewhat unhelpful in the support role but helps him transition to a right clicker much the way a support alchemist can.

Wk's ult is some of the best teamfight control there is. 75% movement and attack speed slow? admittedly on a long cooldown (but by level 2, only 10 seconds longer than ravage, and by level 3, only 1 minute cd) and not strictly activatable, but being able to just run into the fray and start stunning retards is pretty good

END RESULT: good hero. mana dependant but with a stick and tread switching (and maybe a point or two in stats) you can do a lot of shit with little farm.

Tide
Tide's first skill is a nuking, minus armor slow. One thing to keep in mind is that this costs 120 mana and tide has a lower starting int than WK (208 mana at level one and you can't really skill stats), and that this skill doesn't actually stun. It's got a 4 second duration and a 40% slow. strictly, this isn't that bad as a support skill. But the trouble comes from his other skills: you don't really want to max this first. I guess you could get away with maxing this over anchor smash but anchor smash is just so good i'm not sure you can really justify that. I SUPPOSE you could actually get away with maxing it over kraken but similarly, it makes it impossible for you to catch up on farm, which is one of the strengths of the hero as it is currently played.

kraken shell is really helpful against pretty much anything but a doom, and lets tide catch up on farm by killing literally any stack of any size when combined with anchor smash. you could get away with one point if you're not gonna be doing any farming because by the time it might matter you should have enough health to get the purge so you have the guaranteed ravage but if you never do any catchup farming you're not gonna get a timely blink

Anchor smash is a melee range (375 so not quite actually melee) physical nuke that reduces the enemy's physical damage. it's particularly good against heroes with high base damage like tiny, morphling, clinkz, etc. the fact that its physical means it pierces magic immunity entirely which is very strong, but the fact that he has to be in melee range for it to work means he still needs a blink or at the very least a force staff

ravage is tide's most important skill, and one of the few ultimates whose disable portions doesn't pierce magic immunity. obviously this is because it is an enormous aoe that stuns for 2+seconds and does a bunch of damage. it's probably the best aoe control in the game given its enormous aoe and the fact that it actually stuns for as long as it does.

I'm tired of writing this but basically tide's a shitty support because he benefits so highly from arcanes+blink for which he requires at least a baseline of exp at which point he can farm it easily just off of ancients which he can stack himself relatively easily

tide also benefits enormously from further farm like a force staff and a refresher (which again he can farm very easily with level 11 if he maxes kraken and anchor) off of a huge stack of ancients. though the arcanes->blink->refresher build is somewhat questionable in my opinion because he needs to have full mana and use manaboots post ravage to have enough to ravage the second time, and force staff is a good goddamn item.

>>1170
I've played with it and its not good. sometimes your sniper picker goes offlane and your earthshaker goes mid (only to get a 20 minute blink) and your tidehunter has to just play shitty tide support. its the most ineffectual shit please don't do it and don't make other people do it unless there's literally no other option

I know this too well, man. I had always played regular pub matches and had this problem, then my friend told me that ranked matches aren't as bad, so I start playing in ranked and it's even worse. I haven't gotten to play a single ranked match where we didn't have someone who was pants-on-head retarded. I've been trying to get some teams together from this board or some shit, since I'm pretty sure we all feel this way, but that hasn't been working. I find myself enjoying this bullshit game less every day.

>>1155
I've had teammates buy 30+ minute Midas, because "It's a catch up item!"

>>1173
This is pretty true. It's hard for many people to think of initiators as anything other than supports, but Earthshaker, Tidehunter, Sand King, and Enigma depend very heavily on items in the early game. All of these heroes are nearly useless without Blink Dagger or even just Arcane Boots, then people want to bitch at their 'supports' for getting their only core item at the 40-minute mark because they've been spending money on wards all game.

I hate making a comparison like this, but Anti Mage can do well without Battle Fury, Faceless Void can do well without MoM, Templar can do well without Desolator, but it'll take some real fucking skill for a Sand King to do well without Blink Dagger.

 No.1182

>>1180
now now, an earthshaker's blink can be delayed quite a bit and he can still make huge moves early because fissure's so fucking long

Players that talking to much at the start. Communication is important yeah but it´s retarded to talk things like: Let us win guys or talking over 5 mins why that new song of someone is so great. Those Players who talk so much don´t take MMR serious. They come in and want to talk with someone while the game. Well it´s already to late to leave save. What are you making? Picking Techies because it´s always a 4vs5 game. Result: Your Team loose. GG

Pro-Tip: When someone Plays Music with his shitty mic at the start: leave. Micspammers with a shitty mic and dumb Music are always retarded and they don´t have any cognitive skills for the game.
