I keep hearing about how broken/op void is, but I've played him a ton of times and I can't seem to figure out why everyone says he is. He needs a lot of early farm (MoM + treads at level 6), and his lane presence is lacking. I've tried the hand of midas -> battlefury build, as well as skipping battlefury for a maelstrom -> daedalus. Even if I get MoM and treads early, when I use chrono ranged heroes tend to steal. If I don't get kills, midgame becomes a joke too. How do I get good with this guy?

Whenever I play as a carry, I try to break my own personal records, mostly with the help of Dotabuff. How early can I get a Midas? How many last hits per minute can I reach? How much hero damage can I deal?

Setting out to break these records, mostly the ones dealing with farming, encourage me to be the best carry I can possibly be.

Hard carries are about farming your ass off. There should be no such thing as a second to spare. Mute your teammates and focus on farming. Don't worry about ganks. Don't worry about defending, unless it's crucial. Stack camps and use your Midas on the smallest creep in a camp to maximize your gold gain. Do this with Void and the enemy team can do nothing to stop you.

If all else fails, consider Agh's and Refresher for the most overpowered build possible. 12 seconds of hard team CC that doesn't give a hickory fuck about BKB will easily win you the game.

Pic related, my last match with him.

Scepter refresher isn't really the build anymore since you need mana items to cast it. Honestly if you want need to fight early and have already given up on a Midas, I would recommend building a MoM, a Maelstrom, then a Level one crit. Those last two items can be upgraded into pretty powerful late game items and provide you with at least a guaranteed support kill per chrono. The better build is probably for the late game though.

you're actually the worst player lmao

if you're using midas as a gold accelerator like that you're just giving gold to the enemy team

midas is, was, and always will be an xp item. use it on the big creep.

funnily enough this is especially important if you're going refresher void, since you need as many levels as you can get to have enough mana to jump chrono refresh chrono

You can't neglect the x2.5 XP bonus. That is huge. The XP is more important than the gold when you buy a midas.

It's not broken anymore in the current meta, but he still has the best lategame potential. If you have difficulties to farm because your supports are not doing a good job or you're against a strong offlaner always remember that after MoM or even Morbid Mask you can sustain your jungle farm. When you hit level 6 don't hesistate to use your Chrono even on a single target if that secures a kill. Big teamfights don't happen that early in the game so there's no reason to save it. Don't go for Maelstrom or Daedalus if you're behind in farm, consider instead a S&Y or another stat value item to help you survive and be useful during fights. Lategame Refresher is always a good thing, while Aghs is more for an offlaner initiation build.

Can I know your skillbuild?

the only time you will have trouble farming on void is if you aren't hitting the offlaner when they come up to the creep wave, or you are against a strong rightclicking ranged offlaner (not that many of these right now) AND your supports are circlejerking in the jungle or something

you trade better than a slark thanks to the bash, dodge (if you skill it, i'm not sure you should before ~8, leap and bash are priority) and your stupidly good base stats

mom+maelstrom with aquila regen is plenty of sustain and farm speed, voids still a very good hero, just his mana costs went up and suddenly people think hes bad (hint:hes not)
