You need a team that can hold off the enemy while you farm. You also need to be good at farming. If you're the one doing the harassing in lane, you should stop being the one harassing in lane. You see a space without heroes and you farm that bitch. You see an enemy that's nearly dead and you steal that kill. You are Anti-Mage. You are a carry. You max out blink by the time you get Bfury, and then you blink around to each neutral creep camp. When you are not farming, you are stealing kills. When you're not stealing kills, you're farming. This is repeated until you have manta, or sometimes basher and BKB as well. You do this by the thirty five or forty minute mark at the most.

When you are done farming, you should be an unexpected force to the enemy team. They should be asking "wait radiant has magina?"

And at that moment is when you shine. All your time spent farming and stealing kills should amount to an unstoppable force that is the event of magic. You get aegis. You pick a lane. You fuck up everything that's between you and the ancient.

And at the end of it all, enemy ragecalls gg as you get a rampage and have the ancient to half health.

That is Anti-Mage.

I know that I'm going to get a bit of hate for this, but I don't think AM is a hard enough carry in the current meta.

Sniper, Troll, Faceless Void, and Phantom Assassin outscale him in all stages of the game. Put a 6-slotted AM against any of these 4-slotted heroes in a 1-on-1 fight and he'll lose, then his teammates will be killed off and the ancient will fall.

I hate to say that Dota is isn't about who plays better anymore, Magina has this issue more than anyone else, from what I've seen. He needs a reliable team and at least one enemy from a list of enemies who aren't very popular right now. He requires too much input for not enough output. Not that there's anything wrong with AM, but this is really not his patch.

you've got it sort of right. void's not that good against AM, and PA is weak right now because, like every other hero in the game, she doesn't succeed against troll (shes also weak against magic burst and axe which are both popular)
pa's especially weak because bkb is ass right now (pure damage creep, immunity piercing lmao)
am's good against sniper though, because AM has a blink and can get on top of him, and shrapnel's damage doesn't do much

you're right about one thing. You need a team that can hold off the enemy while you hit the creeps. This is only half-true because as AM you should be able to split push extremely effectively, making the enemy team take bad fights while you TP back to help catch stragglers, while you force TPs back
regarding needing a team that can hold off the enemy, its more than just composition that needs to be able to do this. you need to have players of sufficient skill to know what fights they can and cannot take, which isn't likely in the normal skill bracket.

but in all seriousness that hero has trouble post 6.82. the bounceback/rubberband mechanics hurt that hero a lot because he wants to have a net worth advantage by farming fast with bfury+blink, but unless you play it perfectly you're gonna end up dying at least once, which ends up giving up 10 minutes worth of farm advantage to every hero on the enemy team. From there you just lose.

hero's become a situational pick against mana dependant heroes. Think of picking him up against medusa and storm in particular, as those are heroes which both do not want to get mana broken, but also become a walking walking suicide bomb that you can blow up the enemy team with one well place mana void
