But, I am squisher than a fuckin Rylai caught naked and alone at a ward spot. Seriously what the fug. If I take one autoattack from a harassing support I have one hp and can't farm.

>implying people pick supports in the trench

You get my point. I don't understand how to get to the grorious Anti Mage Late Game everyone always talks about because I can't fight and can't farm. Literally dies if you sneeze on him. It's like TA no matter how many replays guides and vods and shit I watch i just can't get it. Help.

Have a flow chart.

>Do the have more late game carries than you?

Don't pick AM

>Does your team not have the ability to bring you late game 4v5?

Don't pick AM

>Does the enemy team have a lane winning combo (SB/Undying, Viper/CM, etc.)?

Don't pick AM

>because I can't fight and can't farm

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but many of your problems with carries can be fixed by learning how to farm better. It takes time, but once you get the hang of being a master ricer, everything else will fall into place.

As a position 1 safelane carry with a support or a solo mid, aim for at least 50 last hits by the 10 minute mark. It's hard to do, yes, bit it's possible. If you have a problem with timing last hits, change your choice of starting items to get better stats or a quelling blade. If you're on the safelane and your lane is pushed out, you can move to the jungle and clear a camp while you wait for your lane to fall back. Every second in matches matter, so use your time accordingly and make every action count.

One thing about AM is that he's more situational than most other carries. Pick him when playing against at least one hero with a high mana pool that is always empty. Examples are Storm Spirit, Skywrath Mage, Pugna, (a good) Invoker, and Lina. Because, well, he counters mages. Of course, the extra magic resistance is only useful when playing against heroes who deal a lot of magical damage. AM also needs plenty of time and space to farm, so heroes who can make space and/or prolong the game are valuable teammates. Treant Protector, Tinker, Techies, and Nature's Prophet come to mind.

If AM seems like a good choice, when at the hero selection screen, hover over AM and ask if anyone is willing to support

you. If you don't have anyone to support you and you can't take the mid lane, pick a different hero.

I used to play AM the way I imagine that you do and my winrate suffered because of it. I thought AM was an overrated hero, since everyone called him a hard carry but I could never make him scale well enough. Then I riced hard, I bought better items, and I tore people new assholes.

Farm when you can, wherever you can, and avoid fights until you're AT LEAST level 16 with some good items. If your teammates suck, you'll need to reach these goals earlier, which is why farming well is important.

Some of my favorite items to build on AM are Battlefury, Butterfly, Abyssal Blade, Manta Style, Assault Cuirass, and goddamn Daedalus. Seriously, Daedalus is such a game-changer late game and I think it helps Andy Mage pay off so well, especially with Battlefury and Manta. Don't be afraid to buy it. Since you're having trouble with surviving, build items that will give you survivability while also increasing your DPS, like Butterfly, AC, and Skadi.

except even if the enemy picks undying into you, all AM needs to do is right click him a couple of times and then undying has no mana and does nothing except walk back to base

even if the enemy picks a 'better lategamer' the only one i'd be particularly worried about is spectre. even then, it has to go super late for that to be a problem, and AM doesn't suffer that badly, even lategame, against other carries.

>>3181

oh my CHRIST RIPPER JEW

so the thing about antimage is that hes actually a horrifyingly strong laner, simply because of mana break. lay the smackdown into the enemy offlaner with your right click ability and he'll have to scurry off to his tower because basically every offlaner relies on using mana for survival / lasthitting / harass.

one thing that especially high level antimage players do is skill stats after 1 value point in each skill. This helps with last hitting, and making you tankier, because you more than double your str gain per level by doing this (AM's str gain is 1.6 if i'm not mistaken). Do that to level 7, then max blink for level 11. Don't bother maxing mana break until you can have it maxed as you get your manta. Spell shield scales poorly so unless the enemy team has 2+ heroes that only deal magic damage, don't bother maxing it until 23-25.

you can also abuse the fact that you have a blink to pull the lane for yourself. this is way easier on dire because you can just pull the hard camp and you'll always have a qb.

he also farms very fast with blink+battlefury (which is why people go for that item) so don't just sit around once you have the bf. the hero relies on making effective use of the jungle basically EVERY time it spawns. an effective thing to do (though it requires map awareness and/or good wards) is just go occupy the enemy safe lane. push the lane to the tower, then farm the enemy jungle. unless the enemy team has something which will give them vision of you (track) or will prevent you from being able to run away (rupture) or will hold you in place for an extended duration (silences, duel) you can really do this freely. If trouble comes, blink away or just into trees.

my preferred build is tango+stout+salve, PMS if you're having lane harass issues, boots if you're against a melee hero, qb if you're getting contested heavily. Generally complete treads before the battlefury, you can get the RoH first though, even a ring of regen if its that bad. I always buy a vlads after the battlefury. It lets you stay on the map even after being contested, and you can creep skip as well. don't go to fights unless you're sure you will have an impact. If the enemy is tower diving and you can mana void for a double kill, do it. otherwise, keep in mind that any time spend fighting is time lost farming, and unless you have a manta you won't be very helpful in fights. Yasha after the vlads is first priority, you can buy the ultimate orb at the side or secret shop though and that's fine too. After manta is where the build diverges. Bkb is really useful if you're up against a lot of lockdown. if you yourself need lockdown, basher is the way to go, abyssal generally doesn't have to come immediately after but it can if you're ahead. for pure tank go heart, for evasion and damage go butterfly. At this point you have to use your judgement about what would be a good item choice for the game. Play your best and if you lose, go watch the replay and figure out why. If you win, pat yourself on the back, go watch the replay and figure out why.

>I always buy a vlads after the battlefury

Or you could, you know, not buy Vlad's. It's not a BAD Anti-Mage item, but it's not worth an item slot. I find that AM doesn't need the lifesteal for jungling once he has Battlefury, since you clear out camps/waves before they can do much damage to you and the health regen is enough to keep his health full while farming. If you're an autist who just can't go without lifesteal, you could have someone else on your team buy Vlad's. It even works on ranged heroes now, so someone would be happy to get it.

it helps you push (creep skipping, tanking tower, aura for creeps)

it lets you stay on the map after a gank attempt

it lets you do ancients

it lets you solo rosh

all for 2k, and AM's not thirsty for item slots, especially since qb got folded into battlefury. at 30 minutes its EASY to have treads/bf/vlads/manta/tp/basher, which is a-okay.

 No.3203

Ok i hope this isn't the same lopunny of that ta fail gif because if so you better have 4000 ping or some shit. Otherwise, the key to getting good farm on am is just not dying. Blink is one of the best defensive spells in the game early on, and combined with an early ring of health from the side shop you should be pretty set. After that you can go straight bfury or get treads first, doesn't matter. after bfury just fucking rice all day. if you're not going slahser's build the meme is true, never fight until you're at least 4 slotted or you can pick up some ez kills on the side. I can't stress this enough. but am doesn't carry harder than other heroes he just farms so fucking fast they can't keep up. so don't sit in base like a dusa cause you're not, 80% of carries will outcarry you if it really comes late. Learn to tread switch so you'll never have to go base once you get your vlads. You want treads > bfury >

vlads > manta > heart/abyssal by around 30 with good farm.

 No.3206

>>3202

It comes with practice and good supports. The best advice I can give is to always try to improve and break records.

I've been playing a lot of Bloodseeker lately, to try to bring up my MMR before he gets nerfed. I go mid and finish Battlefury at 10 minutes, then I snowball from there. I know, I'm fucking amazing, but I'm always trying to get it earlier and earlier. Set goals for yourself and work around the game to try to achieve them. "I want x amount of last hits by y minutes, I want to finish my farming item by z." I care too much about stats, so that's what pushes me.

 No.3209

>>3206

>battlefury

>10 minutes

come on ripper jew, even you're not that dumb

you realize the fastest competitive battlefury is far later than that, and with the nerfs to lane creep gold and the fact that you need upgraded boots even more in your 1v1 than you would in the safe lane

3520 gold walks into your lane in the first 10 minutes (40 gold avg per melee creep, 45 per ranged, melee+1ranged per wave, 2 waves per minute, plus a siege every 7 waves starting at 3:00 so you get 3 counting the one that spawns at 10 minutes). so even if you're neglecting buying boots or any tangoes or a stout, you've only got 4145 gold, plus 100 gold per minute passive (1000 in 10 minutes) is 5145 gold.

Now remember, this is midlane, and you're ripper jew. you're laning against an opponent, you don't have a stout, you don't have boots, you MAYBE have a quelling because it's a part of your battlefury. are you really gonna tell me you're hitting every creep? no. you're 1.5k. you miss creeps in an uncontested lane.

you're not farming a battlefury in 10 minutes unless your mid opponent is afk and feeding you kills.

I'm not even gonna touch on how battlefury's a SHIT item on that hero. christ buy a drum.

according to datdota the FASTEST BATTLEFURY EVER was 8 minutes, and that was an alchemist. it was also in 2013.

fastest antimage battlefury ever is 9:50. also 2013.

hard to get qualifying data for this one because it's so old, so I'll use the second.

summit 3 qualifiers (2015, 6.83, remember lane creep bounty was reduced by 7% in 6.84) burning had a 10 minute battlefury on AM. he'd hit 71 creeps, 0 of which were jungle creeps. he had 1 assist.

he started qb stout tango, completed battlefury at 9:59 with no boots.

AW SHIT NIGGA

Nice op void

Nice noboots build

Actually, RJ, since you think Bloodcyka is OP, when he's really the same pubstomper "I do pure damage, have a sustain and have high mobility" he has always been, why are you playing him? Can't you raise MMR without playing BS or PA? WHERE IS YOUR SHAME

Back on topic, does AM NEEEEEEED BF to farm well? Can't I just get a Maelstrom first? The anti-fun part of AM for me is being afk staring at creeps for 20 minutes on BF, another 10 for Manta and then you can fight, but then again while you were farming your team fed someone 100% of the time so you might need to play safe and build heart. I've gotten several Rune First Bloods and early kills in my games by foregoing the triple1-stats build in favor of maxing Q+W first. Maybe maelstrom would help farm AND help with early fights?

 No.3219

>>3218

>Can't you raise MMR without playing BS or PA?

No. I can't even raise my MMR WITH playing BS and Void, but in ranked matches where teammates stack UAMs and build Manta Style on Timbersaw, I couldn't care less about how cheap my picks are. I don't even use PA much, she's not even in my 10 most played.

I wouldn't say that AM 100% needs a Battlefury, but I'd still recommend it. Slahser's method skips BF to get him into fights earlier, so there's a YouTube video if you're interested in that.

With roughly 3 creeps per neutral stack, the cleave from Battlefury increases his farm rate by 70%, with the bonus damage from BF not included. If you want an alternative item to speed up farm, don't go for Maelstrom, since it doesn't have any synergy with his abilities and won't help much with fighting heroes in the late game. If you really want to cut Battlefury out of your build, an early Midas or Radiance can almost help him farm as quickly. If you choose to farm a Radiance, build Manta immediately after so you can get the most out of the hardest item to rush.

 No.3489

>>3218

>does AM NEEEEEEED BF to farm well? Can't I just get a Maelstrom first?

It's not just about the farm. It's also about the fact that cleave stacks fully with all attack modifiers Including, oh I dunno, mana break (the mana burn, at least, not the damage). And lifesteal, and… Again, everything.

Also, maelstrom is a UAM, so it cuts out a lot of build options. It's also a lot worse for farming overall in terms of damage.

Feel free to try it, but you'll learn fast why you don't do it. Only situation I could see justifying it would be something like a meepo or PL so you can get the mjolnir active, and even then I'd prefer a battlefury.

 No.3500

AM is probably one of the worst fucking heroes in the game, whether you faggots like it or not.

>45% winrate

>Takes years of farming to go anywhere

>Ult focuses purely on snagging kills at the end of fights when everyone has run out of mana.

>Having high attack speed for mana break brings us back to the second point, takes years to farm.

>Gay as fuck

>Blink is troll bullshit that most smart players would shut down instantly.

If you play this hero then you are giving your team a disadvantage right of the bat and you should kill yourself.

 No.3516

.>>3500

He's weak because he's still a lategame hero and the recent patches have favored the early game. Doesn't mean he's bad, but he doesn't fit in most lineups. Unless you have a lot of stall and turtle potential and are gambling on a 50 minute game, he's usually bad.
