So, I figured we should make a thread for brainstorming ideas for all-new threads, and ideas for already existing group participation threads.

For now, we can brainstorm masters for another master study thread, and other ideas are welcome.

And a new thread I would like to create, being the 'Subject of the Week' thread. For a week we'd draw, study, paint, or design(using the 'subject' in some way). Gaining knowledge/information of the subject, and developing skill in its utilization being the primary goal.

Maybe a thread specifically for design would be good? I dunno how many people here do that, but still, might be nice for them to have a place to post character designs or industrial design or whatever and just have the actual design being critiqued as opposed to the technique used to show the design. Also it fits in that way with the name of the entire board :P

I think having a separate thread for each master is spreading things a little too thin. Having one thread for all master studies might be better? Then if you want to study Sargent one day, Sorolla the next, then Bouguereau, then Richard Schmid, or whatever, it's all okay.

I like this. Having some sort of open ended challenge thread is good like this. It forces people out of comfort zones. Maybe one week is too short though? At least for now when board activity is still slow. The whole board will just get filled with weekly threads and some of the less used threads will get bumped off, no?

What about a drawing challenge thread with an emphasis on no cheating or using reference? Thread themes could be like drawing figures in extreme perspectives or drawing faces upside down without rotating the page. The point is to draw things from imagination that you might be familiar with in uncomfortable situations to test what you really know and to exercise visualization skills.

Sounds interesting. For no cheating, you could include things like no warping/distortion tool, no auto-tone/levels/filters. Do you want to make a new thread for each challenge, or keep them all in one thread? At least for now it seems collective threads would be better, since we're not going to see any 404's for a while,.

So, I'm really thinking about making an 'everydays' thread. If nobody else is interested, I will probably start one anyways for myself and let others join over time.

It's a really great idea I think, and this isn't the first time I've done this sort of thing. Though the ideas I feel are pretty good for this one, and keeps it from being a bullshitting thing. I think it could really work if we had at least 3 people interested in posting their everydays in an 'everydays' thread.

Speedpainting and the other wip threads will still be there, but I think the idea of the 'everyday' deserves its own threads, as well as the other ones. Spending the amount of time you have available that night doing the everyday, rather than stopping when you have satisfied the 'speedpainting' level could be quite beneficial. And also each poster can have their own specific goals for a set of everydays, so it's not limited to any medium either, so it will also be an all-medium-welcome thread.

Do you guys know the roll threads across the board culture? Like the towergirls thing, for ex. Img related.

I'm trying to make a thread where you can roll for vehicle, landscape, human anatomy, animal anatomy, or fantasy subjects. This way we can learn more about the world visually and with more breadth. But first, I need to create a list of subjects. I've created a spreadsheet here.

The whole thing of rolling for a random number doesn't work so well on a board where the number of posts per day hovers around like 2. It becomes pretty darn predictable what number you'll get.
