I agree as well, that discussion pertinent to art will be good. If we can make good discussion, it will probably inspire people to post their art, which is a good thing. And keeping relevancy to actual art and creation is something I wholeheartedly agree with.

Dedicated threads are important, I agree. Question threads are good, but they fail in answering bigger and more important questions. So I think it'll be a good idea to throw in a different type of question thread; a debate thread. So something with a title like; "Debate- What makes good design?" That combined with a question thread always up will probably be healthy. A general lounge/water cooler thread to bring up stories, cool bits of information, or whatever, will probably be good as you said.
Regarding the strict moderation, I agree. If this board starts getting shitposting, it just becomes a less populated /ic/. And that's the last thing I want.
So I think it's important to ask what constitutes as shitposting. Here are some of my thoughts:
-Deliberate shaming of others work/and artists, telling people to quit being artists, stupid shit like this. General unwarranted negativity that serves no purpose. Acting like an idiot, bait comments, sarcastic insults.
-Taking discussion away from the topic on hand, into flaming another person.
-Critiquing other peoples paintovers/critiques unnecessarily. I've seen this happen on /ic/ all the time, and 99% of the time it is unwarranted and leads to more shitposting. If you don't agree with someone's paintover, make your fucking own.
What am I missing?
