>>57oh snap look out 57 posts… It's ruined now! Not really. I admire that you guys did carve out a great spot here. I love the higher skill level here. You can relax, I'm trying to ween off all these websites.
Of course I came from 1998147. Dude's convinced some pros blocked him. He was probably being a stupid fuck. Who knows?
But what's so great about this? What's the difference? How is this better?

>>57So I explored the rest of the site and I get it now. I think the idea of making your own site is really nice. Don't worry I won't ruin your board. If it's any consolation I wasn't a part of the cancer of the old place.

>>60Lol, I wasn't OP of that thread, but I was the one that shamelessly mentioned the board.
I'll answer some questions that were asked by one anon in that thread.
Question is: Why is the talent posting there (/dpd/), and not here?
Because the talent I knew had left /ic/, and they aren't going back. I showed them a new place to go to.
I never thought you'd ruin the board. In fact, I welcome you. Bring your friends too, as long as they aren't shitposters. I'm glad you get the idea of this board, too! I want more anons to integrate into the board, as long as they can keep the quality of posting high.
"i don't see that community lasting"-
It will last because there is going to be no death for this board. It will only die when I have forgotten it.
This board will show its true potential in the future. Specifically the non-discussion aspect will keep the community focused, reduce the frequency of trolling, and will keep drama away. Due to the lack of discussion/shitposting threads there will be room to create different art/draw threads without cluttering the catalog(I stopped making them because there really isn't any need for new ones).
The post IDs will prevent samefagging, improve the flow of critique, and provide a lower degree of anonymity which I think works better for art critique board.

>>58Thing is, I love a lot of stuff that gets posted on pixiv, animu included. It's just that these kinds of threads always invite a really bad crowd. It alienates a lot of people and creates a tension between posters, similar to what happened to the drawthread and alternate art/stylization in ~2013.
I just don't want to see the same thing happen here.
101e45 No.64
>>63I agree, I don't want a split to happen between posters.
I'll make this known at least: The Anime Art thread is not a place you need to restrict yourself to. It's a place where other anime-focused posters can post art and critique with you, and that's it.
Post in the other draw threads. They do not alienate against anime drawings, they are made for everybody to grow!

Would "cartooning" be a less threatening name for the thread? It's essentially the same thing, would weed out the irrational hatred, and be more inclusive to other stylization.

People look down on animu, but some shows have excellent shape design. Here are some KlK studies.

It is practice by redrawing with own knowledge of what I know. Depending on goals sometimes few things change, other times completely different from original. Common to do for good practice and usually fun because there was also something I liked. Maybe more like application instead of study? I don't know if I convey the right meaning. A "redline" to me is same kind of practice too where I do my best to try demonstrating my words in the redraw. I kind of wonder if redrawing is seen as strange in Western art communities like this because it does not seem often done. I guess I also worry about offending the original artist because I still have much to learn about drawing.

Oh no, I've got no problem with your copy, I'm more worried you'll pick up some bad habits from me. I'm still developing myself.
Still, if it works for you and you're critical of your work, by all means.

watch the pinch in the torso, you're not conveying the S- curve you're going for. Right now she ram rod stiff, and rather than seeing the push and pull of the torso/hips, the figure looks deformed.
Did a little redline, note not only the lateral tilt, but the tilt forward into space. It helps sell the movement (and is a little more sensual, which I think you are going for_.

The forehead's too large, and the ears too long. There is too much width between the scales on her tail, too.
Be careful with hiding the hand behind the back like that, it's not that great of a habit.
>>394
gave a good redline and is much more sensual and interesting to the eyes.

To my understanding of most lamia, the charm of the upper body combines with the exoticness of the snake part. They are also very curvy so trying to accentuate that is important probably. Sorry if it is hard to make out, I might have made lines too busy.
