but if you want to practice shapes I recommend mypaint for its infinite canvas. instead of file>new for every new drawing, you just drag the canvas to the side until your computer runs out of memory (occasionally corrupting all your shit)
its p. good program for impulsive, thoughtless sketching.

Some old stuff. I used to get demotivated a lot, and would stop drawing for a long time.
I've dragged the stacy character along with me, because in spite of the shit design I like the personality (which I won't get into). A few other characters too. Eventually I hope to draw well enough to animate.
I think a lot of "getting better" is just developing/refining your tastes. I have to draw crap before finding out it's crap. So in that sense, I think making complete and utter shit (for science) is a good thing, and I respect anyone with the guts to post garbage drawings.

I think the way I'm doing hair is leading to ugly drawings. Maybe some poofy cubist shit on some characters would work better. What do you think, more hair space?

I think doodling is all I have the stamina for at the moment. I gotta learn to draw with my eyes properly.
Made a straight-ahead anim thing. It's like 8 drawings done quick. Making it look ok would probably take forever though.

d29410 No.609
fun little (failed) experiment. Eventually I hope to paint photorealistic tardigrades wearing tophats and smoking cigars, and tell stories of their crime syndicate that launders billionths and billionths of dollars.
d29410 No.612
with digital brushes you could probably make some interesting animation smears. Hand drawn animation that isn't strictly drawing might be cool. I have to learn to draw properly first, however.
It probably wouldn't be too hard to animate something like this. The bear can be done in a few sloppy strokes. It has to be raster though, the smears would look boring if they were just two colors, #FFFFFF and #000000.
d29410 No.613
>>612This sort of aesthetic is very pleasing to me.
Also, I think everyone ran away from your board, blix.
d29410 No.614
working in silhouette has its advantages. shrinking the body and making the limbs thinner makes everything clearer. Also, getting the shoes to read better (character is a good fit for exaggerated heels IMO).
d29410 No.615
I'm having a lot of fun with this, though it's technically not drawing. It's just silhouette painting I guess. I think my shit looks much better as a silhouette smearing than as a drawing.
dontbanme
I've noticed that I have a tendency to zoom out when using mypaint, because I wan't to glance at the other sketches. This eats up the RAM even faster, and makes snipping more difficult. Just dreadful.

here I'm trying to break down an ear again, this time using a photo and thinking a little more about its topology or whatever. I think associating words with parts does help, so I'll continue to do that for other body parts.

I am at a loss. This is clearly not how dem animal legs are, but drawing better would require exerting an effert and gttn lerns, perhaps even observing, a terrifying prospect.
But how does one 'look' with their 'eyes'? I'm searching amazon for something that might help me in this matter. I might have to wait until these VR goggles come down in price, maybe then I can strap on a cam and use dat 1080p visor as my own personal reality observation instrument. With this $1400 investment I would finally be able to look out the window and draw my lawn!
The very thought of being able to look at pixelated depictions of reality with my own two eyes, in my own lifetime, really makes my inner star trek fanboy jump in the air and do hoola hoops or whatever. It's very exciting or something!
How ye artists of olde ever managed to draw outsideland with the bare, naked eye is a true mystery for the ages. Heroes, they.
Pic related, some DaVinci studies of cats. Quite beautiful. I was intending on petting my cat today, but I seem to have misplaced my filter-mask. So disorganized :(

It might be better to think of body parts as a single, wholistic thing (i.e. head and neck) than compartmentalizing them into symbolic objects. It's certainly more fun.
Maybe I should always consider how objects connect, and treat the connection as an object in itself?
Other people's thoughts, doodles are welcome no matter how shitty or abrasive.
