Yeah EB is pretty fine as is when it comes to the battle system in the long run IMO as well. Though a common complaint from people is the battle system cause they don't look at what EB has beyond the copied Dragon Quest system in place.
Though I wouldn't mind some new changes in place like:
-How you fix items as Jeff. As in making it not random when you spend the night with the right IQ but given a choice to fix them when you have the right IQ and then having the player put the stuff together and having parts to find beyond just "broken item" to work with. Would like some new tools like a freeze gun as well cause why not?
-the PSI system such as how I'd love to teach Ness PK freeze, fire, and thunder for example but they'd be less powerful than used by Paula. Each character could learn every PSI (besides Rockin) but some characters would be better at some than others to make it so it isn't too broken.
-To make it so people would wanna have Ness learn stuff beyond his comfort zone I'd make Rockin an "auto win attack" like how the Dragon System in Breath of Fire sort of is. As in Rockin learns new stuff as you power up your other PSI such as shield breaking properties, status affects, or multi hits (at a higher PP cost to use).
-And of course I have thoughts on how to not make that easy mode in every area and situation so the player can't just blindly rely on it. Turning off the powered up version options of rockin in areas like Moonside, Stonehenge base, Magicant, and situations like the Guardian boss fights or when Ness has homesick status I feel would prevent it from becoming too easy.
-I'd have Rockin linked to sound stone progression as well. Alpha at Giant step, beta after 3, gamma after 6, omega after 8. And of course Ness' stat boost would still be around end game wise.
Though not really sure how to make Poo and Paula rewarded by this system (beyond the fact that Paula using life up and such is pretty great). But then again no other character gets what Ness gets in the original game and its cool there so why not just roll with it and break the fuck out of Ness more? It was awesome on the SNES when Ness got his huge stat boost so why not just roll with that a Post too long. Click here to view the full text.
