I have successfully used, in actual combat with other people, a kind of astral-haze that you project around them and which carries along intentions and can weaken and throw them off balance and cloud their mind making them easy to beat up.
I have also been in a trance before in my room where I was swiping around at the air like an animal extremely fast and when I fell out of the trance couldn't do what I was just doing anymore. It was ridiculously powerful and fast, my hands cut through the air and my nails were way stronger than they normally are (normally they bend and break easy).
All of this has been really recent developments for me too.
You can also induce trances where pain turns off, you suddenly have a ton more strength, or where you basically overclock your whole body and brain. Yesterday some guy was choking me and I turned against him, causing his choke to be even tighter, but he still didn't choke me out and I exerted an extreme amount of force by using my loosh and Will to be unaffected by him.
There's a lot of ways to use magick in combat that can make you extremely deadly, wild, aggressive, fast, mesmerizing, etc.
You can get some ideas in William Walker Atkinson's Mental Influence book when he talks about animals that can hypnotize their prey so their prey freeze up fear and become helpless before them.
Also check out Magical Use of Thoughtforms by Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki. There's some stuff about werewolves in there that should give you lots of good ideas.
There are a great many ways to use magick in combat and if you're going to be involved in a serious fight there's no reason not to use it.
