f0e91c No.153[Reply]

First of all, guys, I want to thank you all for getting the board off to an amazing start. Your ideas are all appreciated, and so is your effort.

The key thing, especially in such an early stage, is to ensure that that effort is getting channeled into a focused direction. It's great that someone's already started the character thread - I've stickied it for visibility. But an equally important, if not more important, job is deciding on the overall story premise into which these characters will be expected to fit.

Now, I'm not going to be a tyrant about this. I'm not going to write this script single-handedly, and I'm not ruling anything out. But I've thought long and hard about what's going to be realistic, and I've come up with three possibilities for a story premise.

I'd like you guys to decide on which one to go with, and then discuss any modifications you feel the need to make.

When we've reached a consensus on this score, this thread will be de-stickied and we can move onto Step 2: The Dramatis Personae.

Step 3's way into the future yet, but that will be when we start writing the script properly. We'll need a pastebin and possibly IRC to co-ordinate it properly.

Can do danish subs.

Level 2 out of 5 musician I think.

>Web-design

What for? Anyways, I could do it I guess.

>music

/mu/ is gonna do it.

Can do some acting, editing (I'm basic-tier though so expect no special effects), can make a movie poster (I'm bretty gud with Gimp/Photoshop) and brazilian portuguese subs (I'm a bit rusty as I left Brazil when I was 11 but I should manage). Can also do spanish and french if necessary.

914c3f No.310

Another Belgian here.

I can *try* to do some basics special effects. I can do a part of the editing if no one is willing to.

I've already acted in some short-movie, so my acting may be not awesome, but it won't be the first time I act…

783e92 No.311

Almost forgot this thread.

I can also shoot, edit and do some special effects (I have some experience with Adobe After Effects). I also plan to look into the possibility of 3D effects if I can get my hands on some models.

Also forgot to add I can do some stunt work (fight, fall or generally be thrown around), should we require some.

i have an idea for a music video for my band. i animated a storyboard, mp4 related. what do you think?

a4ab2e No.304

the idea is that these scenes would be filmed and cut along side footage of the band performing. this is only about half of the song, but it's all i animated. i'm not sure how the pacing would work once the performance bits are added.

the song is based on the book, "let the right ones in".

4223e2 No.305

I'm not familiar with the source material, so my input may not be worth much. I'm kind of puzzled by the first shot (the two graves). Otherwise, it works pretty coherently. If I may suggest one thing, adapt the color scheme to the mood of each scene: in the street use desaturated colors, almost black and white with maybe one or two colors for contrast. In the playground make it very vivid and colourful. Then in the end make sure the red stands out (red on blue or gray?).

380fc5 No.307

>>305

that's great advice thank you. i hadn't considered a color scheme overall, however i thought about doing the performance portion in black and white but with the effect where the only color would be red.

the source material is basically there's a kid who's a loser and keeps getting beat up by bullies. a girl comes in to town and he falls in love with her. she's a vampire who's just kind of rolling through. she eats a bunch of people and in the end sticks up for him against the bullies.

Lol. Agreed. There a few things that are more irritating than autists who spam the hell out of an image.

I'm thinking perhaps one of the characters could be the subject of an embarrassing meme that has destroyed his life.

bd0afe No.212

File: 1455246865381.png (230.61 KB, 700x600, 7:6, Big Blue confused.png)

Make absolute sure that you actually go to the boards you'll be referencing and obtain feedback from them on how to actually reference them properly.

1811c4 No.225

Seriously though, I know references have been a thing in movies for eons, but why do people want memes in our project anyway? I'm sure if "the public" like it then they would conjure up some jokes of their own.

918d80 No.226

>>225

Because if the movie is about imageboards, it is de facto about memes, in some measure. And doing an 8chan movie without addressing the user base in any way really just makes it a movie without a target audience.

>Louis C.K. walks on stage

>"Good evening ladies and gentlemen…you're in for quite the show tonight"

>*applause*

>"Before we go any further…let us turn off these lights, these damned inventions of the white devil. Let us return to out natural state,BLACKness"

>Lights are turned off, but bonfires are being lit on stage and in the audience.

>Meanwhile, Louis has stripped naked, and a huge cauldron is being brought on stage.

>All the blacks in the theatre start chanting "CUCK CUCK CUCK" slowly growing louder.

>"In this cauldron is a sacred Nubian concoction made from the semen carefully extracted from vaginas of wives who have been bred by black bucks. It symbolizes the conquering of the white race.

>Louis lowers his pale, naked body slowly into the cauldron of semen. He rubs himself sensually, and his tiny white dick gets more and more erect.

>"CUCK CUCK CUCK CUCK" the chanting continues to roar on.

>Louis begins moaning and masturbating violently. Some white people in the audience are shocked, but when they try to leave they find the doors locked.

>Louis moans come out in a gasping sputter as his hands are a blur in his slimy crotch.

>Right as Louis reaches his climax, a black buck thrusts a huge horn resembling a BBC in front of Louis face. Louis puts it to his lips and….

>BRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

>The sound of Louis orgasm echoes around the chamber, competing with the deafening chant of "CUCK CUCK CUCK"

Not BO here, but things are slow, I see.

I propose we start suggesting ideas of plots for the film. Then we vote and we develop each scene by following the global plot. The purpose of the thread is to have the script. We could use an Etherpad instance to make this easier.

Never read it, but Hikikomoris certainly are an interesting phenomenon (if that's what you could call it)

I think that the shut-in aspect to most of our lives should absolutely be explored, no matter how the content of the story develops.

> A single event, say, a particular set of threads, that changes the lives of several anons

I think this could work

>>35

>What if after we devised characters and their respective personas, we start posting as those characters on other boards

This is brilliant, and as far as I know, has never been done before.

This could be a very interesting and effective way to get genuine material.

We need to make this film centered around users of one particular website, but obviously using a 'chan site would be the epitome of autism.

Instead, I think we should make the movie about a small group of users from a fictional Web 1.0 site that we design/create.

The site will be similar to how 4chan was back in 'the good days' or even similar to forums that came before back in dial-up days.

Since the website is fictional, it can be whatever we want it to be. It can be everything chan imageboards were supposed to be, all the creepy, fringe counter-culture, just minus the autism that Web 2.0 brought. (sjws, shills, "artists" on deviantart, normalfags, autists, edgefags, "gamers")

It could be a homage to a bittersweet era lost in time.

>darkweb

ae5b06 No.168

>>163

I really like your idea to use a fictional forum. And you're right, it WOULD be the height of autism to use 8chan.

I think it should be a very bare-bones design that hearkens back to the 90's but also seems modern… like a technological limbo.

Also, this made me think about the fact that we'll need someone who can create and edit the parts of the screenplay that take place online.

>>164

>darkweb

This would make sense. Perhaps someone could design the site; I have absolutely no experience in this, but I suppose we can contribute ideas.

This project is gonna be a long airwolfin process – I hope some anons are in it for the long haul.

>We need to make this film centered around users of one particular website, but obviously using a 'chan site would be the epitome of autism.

yeah, plus i think it would be difficult to make it not completely cheesy. probably not svu-level cheesy, but still cheesy. i assume the movie will be intended for a wide audiences, so making it accurate would be boring to them.

Hey Director, I think that, before everything, you need to explain what ideas you are using from Dogma 95. Because, you know, some of them are simply dumb. A movie can still be artsy-fartsy and have a soundtrack.

529b33 No.6

We're not using Dogma 95. You can use it if you want but we're doing freestyle, read the whole /b/ thread.

d7cb7b No.9

They say "write what you know" and to a certain extent, I agree with that; having that said, if this is going to be a clusterfuck of anons throwing around ideas, we might as well relate the ideas to 8chan (as corny as that may sound). I'm not saying that it should literally be about 8chan, but rather to use our experiences with various autists on 8chan: board struggles, infighting, pedos, /intl/, happenings, etc etc. When you think about it, most anons who've spent a great deal of time on here have a wealth of experience to draw from – it may not be the "life experience" that "important writers" draw from, but if I was an aspiring writer, I'd consider it to be just as valuable.

My suggestion is that you have a character, or group of characters who represent a board, an OP who delivered (although they're extremely rare, there can be more than one), and any other experience that you can use for a characters persona (an attention whore perhaps).

As far as the actual story, I suppose there would need to be some rules that we can devise as democratically as possible; otherwise, it will just turn into a fucking mess, and fizzle out pretty quickly; we need to start with a blueprint if this has any chance of being coherent.

If it were up to me, I'd stay away from trying to come up with a plot right off the bat, as that would end up being completely contrived; that will manifest as the ideas for characters and general plotlines begin to develop.
