All right fellas, after losing my password I am finally back.

I know this board is slow but hopefully we can get things moving with a add me thread.

Post your CMDR name and what star system you are in.

No real point until wings is released. Once they add the mmo portion to this mmo it's going to be great. I'm imagining weekly runs / attacks on cap ships, and fun and engaging fleet to fleet battles with a good measure of coordination.

Until we can actually group, warp, and foght together, it is woefully dull to play with friends.

True, hopefully when wings is released we can get a little more traffic here too.

Board owner of /stalker/ here. I love Elite and I also love your board. I'm going to link to you guys in our sticky so maybe we can get a few more people flowing through here.

See if you can catch me flying around the stars.

>finally buy the game
>start at LHS 3447
>go to Eravate conflict zones to get shekels
>buy a Viper and some gear
>find LTT 15574
>almost all planets have metal rings
>lurk in rings to bounty hunt
>have 450k and a Viper now
I guess fine for 2nd day but apparently people are making millions and shit. Also not sure what play style to choose.

CMDR…ah hell, what's the point of going to an anonymous imageboard if you drop the "anonymous" part?

Location is several kly out going coreward and loosely anti-spinward. Not headed to Sag. A* like everyone else.

>>88
Playstyle depends on your gameplay preferences anon. And your RL gear.

If you have a joystick (any joystick really but the more buttons the better) you can do combat stuff as a serious occupation.

Bounty hunting has been made profitable recently, also you can always use a Kill-Warrent Scanner on a human player to see if they have a bounty on them as well (but they are much harder to kill). Kill scanners can also reveal secret bounties on "innocent" ships or additional bounties on aggressor pirates. You can make a few million a day as a hunter. There's also the sub-profession of assassin, which is also lucrative and a guaranteed payoff on a dangerous target.

Traders are in a position to get a lot of money fast. A trader with 100t cargo and a good route can make upwards of 500k-1m an hour. Over a few days that adds up, and very large ships have capacities that even exceed that. However the larger ships, particularly Lakon ships, are fairly vulnerable birds. Especially against human enemies. However, you can improve your odds, and perhaps profits, if you protect yourself using a wing.

Exploring is very profitable, most of the galaxy is fresh; there's unexplored systems still within 250 lightyears of inhabited space, even. And it's also the most comfy profession. Most explorers are pretty chill, and it's fairly free if NPC pirates once you get past a certain point in space.

Piracy is an option but it's not the best paying one. Getting stolen goods, smuggling them through ports that have black markets, and selling them are all somewhat difficult. There are some impending updates to add more stealth to the game, ships like the Sidewinder or similarly low-profiles will be able to evade sensor scans more easily so that will alleviate some of the difficulty going forward.

Really, it all depends on what you want to do.

>joystick
For a flightsimmer my joystick right now is really shit (Attack 3). Until I get a good HOTAS setup I'm using mouse and keyboard now but unlike flightsims, it actually works really well.

mouse axis = pitch and yaw
mouse wheel = throttle
mouse buttons = power management
q,e = roll
w,a,s,d = vertical and horizontal translation
shift+x = 75% magic supercruise throttle

I have no problem with piloting now. Both aiming and maneuvering seems fine in combat, can dock without stopping.

I'm currently in Lugh 11 high intensity conflict zone making credits by sitting near a capital ship and turreting with C1 pulse turrets. It's kinda exploiting the game but I don't really care, doing this is a no brainer after you discover that merely tagging enemies gets you kills.

I got a Vulture now so I'm going for combat oriented roles but I'm also planning on getting an exploration spacecraft that maybe can also do some (rares) trade. For now I'll rank combat to elite than go exploring.

>5M CR bond in Lugh for Equality

I'm doing fuck all except occasionally watching my shield. Maybe it's not much compared to high end trade but it's an idle income source essentially.

I use an XBOne controller, feels nice to use, only binding im really missing is lateral thrust

I'm poking around Atlantis right now, maybe I'll see you. I usually play at night (PST) when I'm a few drinks in. You may recognize me by my less than stellar landings during this time.
