This is a board about the state of the fandom and how to hypothetically improve it. Often times people have always wondered if it is possible to have a quality fanbase. It is possible, but it requires a great level of leadership skills.
So what if we rule a corrupted empire of misfits, at least we control it.
It's less about news and more about a conquering fetish. The news/state of the board just goes hand in hand.

Gentlemen… how do we convince the rest of the world to join the pony fandom?

Let's talk user income and quality checking. Usually when you advertise and recruit you must recruit in a quality place where you can find quality people so they may contact their quality friends, but that will be kind of a big deal problem.

It's a pain in the ass to recruit quality people from /tg/, /tech/, /agdg/ because of all the bullshit connotations surrounding these stupid fucking pastel horses just for being ponies. It's like trying to sell religion, only harder.

Minecraft had it easy, only a few people gave weird looks when they saw the graphics thinking they'll be viewed as pedophilles, losers and autists, but eventually everybody chimed in and they have a huge ass fanbase.

Guess it'll never be easy selling this girly equus horse of horseshit.

We often say 2010, early 2011 was a better time for the community, as in we had more quality and charming people compared to the summer of 2011 when every spaghetti brony started joining and getting vocal. I distinctly remember a poll on Equestria Daily showing that most of the users came in the summer 2011 and they greatly outnumbered the ones before the summer.

But there was one thing/one type of contributer they had which we don't have anymore.

Illustrators, Photoshoppers, Sony Vegas, Movie Maker users which edited videos on Youtube. Otherwise putting a lazy captcha/a few words on an image is easy as fuck and can be done in MSPaint.

You can half blame the absence of funny and good edits on the latter seasons shitty scripts, animators, storyboarders for the lack of ideas.

The other thing they have which we don't… is being funny. They had more charm than us and knew how to tell a joke. As such depressed anti-social autists can't be funny/charming worth a damn. Hence mood of the fandom got worse. Hence the fan creations got worse too, the Pony Anthology series got shittier, always trying to add 90 minutes when they only had substance worth for 20 minutes.

Oh yeah everybody applauded them(some of them) for being good editors when it came to syncing the audio with the pony visuals. The editors even took their sweet time to manually edit the lip sync of the ponies. Others couldn't do this properly even if their life depended on them.
Not every single one was a genius director, but there were enough artists to produce a decent amount of videos. Maybe some higher up could have found them, they could have landed jobs as directors, this shit takes some talent and vision to make it flow properly. Then again they only made 1 successful video out of luck & effort, as you can see every guy only made about one properly synced video.

and if anything the Minecraft fandom was much more enthusiastic than the pony fanbase. Which is kinda hard to believe because of the obnoxious attitude of the fandom since the beginning. But it's logical, the bronies took it as a joke. Yeah even the retards who took our memes seriously weren't really very into it and just jumped on the ride to feel accepted, hence the bandwagonning effect. Even Minecraft was more socially acceptable as a game hence more subs, more likes, more taken risks for everyone to find out what you watch, compared to the pony artists which kept deleting their artwork, blogs, accounts so nobody may find them out.

The MC fans' motivation of love greatly outweighted the bronie's ironic love and piss-poor motivation to feel hipster and just jump on it because they're too retarded to judge. That and fucking ponies, guy. Who the shit watches a cartoon show for more than 2 days and doesn't quit afterwards? With Minecraft you can play it forever and the mods actually affect the game. In our case we never had animators good enough to create our own episodes.

And that is all the regurgitation of information for today.

20th January, but we were toying with the idea a few months before that.

We were thinking about how we would take care of Equestria Daily if we were in charge of it. We were complaining a lot about Seth's lack of actual news and insecurity to not paint the fandom in a bad light by never showing their cringeworthy crap. I don't agree with the second part, I think showing off our spaghetti is stupid as hell. I personally was whining about his lack of interest in the fandom, fan creations, lack of contests, lack of importance and how his blog is completely useless to the fandom and he treats it as a personal circlejerk blog rather than a HQ for the fandom's base of operations.

/mlp/ was also originally thinking of only commenting about the state of the /mlp/ board itself rather than deliver news about the fandom and cartoon show just like derpy-hooves-news and many other blogs. I was expecting them to comment about the generals and provide news about what's happening inside each of them.

/pone/ used to have 40 posts an hour back in October, but that used to be when the Vocaroo thread and many other serial threads were there.

After October 2014 it quickly crawled to 5-9 posts an hour and stayed that way up to this day.

What irked me about /pone/ was that they always failed at having imagination and providing content.

They couldn't decide on 1 mascot so they went with 3.

They couldn't shill subtly like /v/ did or manage to grow like /v/ and /co/, /tv/, /tech/ eventually did.

They couldn't sing their own parody of the winter wrap up song.

When some drawfag came promising them a comic book(albeit he had no idea what he was doing himself) the users of /pone/ didn't help much and kinda just ignored it till the thread 404'd and they drawfag said sorry: no interest - no comic.

When some anon kept yelling that they should do something for the Aprils Fool day or season 5 premiere they instead either ignored him or deleted his threads and told him that they don't need any new content for those special days.

Their userbase comprises of cynical people who are cynical to each other.

/pone/ is on it's sure way of becoming as slow as /anon/ where you had to wait 2 days for at least 10 posts to be made.

There's many niche boards with a specific theme and subject to it, but they always fail because of no users.

So far only /v/ managed to succeed in what it originally wanted. To get the fuck away from 4chan. It's sitting comfy right now at 3800+ users. From 1500, 2000, 3000 to 3800 and growing.
