Someone messaged me, opened with a compliment on how good my profile was rather than just a 'hello, how are you.' I read over her profile, and the writing was pure gold. Funny when it trying to be, very well-organized, beautiful style, and just the best writing I've ever seen on F-List.

Remember one thing. There's always an edit button. You can start really small, and learn the rope, and try to come up with something better or something to add. And if you have a new idea, you can always make a new character, try and get those creative juices flowing.
I think that maybe doing cannon characters would be more difficult, at least to stay in-character. Because if you're playing with someone who knows the character, it could take them out of the scene if you do something they wouldn't do.
It's not all that tough. And just think: even Tobi Wolf gets partners.
Start off by thinking what you want to do. Let's say, a shemale bitchbreaker please don't make a shemale bitchbreaker.
You can start off with the core idea, and then start off with a few traits, stuff to make it interesting. Make it a character, not just a hole. What do they like? What do they want? What are their hobbies?
You can take the bitchbreaker and turn it into a strong, but socially timid tuna boat captain. Someone who's not afraid to get her hands dirty, but also doesn't want to interact with people, hence the tuna fishing boat. You can have her like magic tricks, stuff with cards, and general street performance stuff.
And even if it's something as bad as what I've got above, there's still effort put into it, idea and thought. And the more you work on it, and the more you strive to improve, the better it will be.
Oh, and read the fucking post. Don't just skip it 'cause it's long, read motherfucker, that's half the ERP experience.
Or, just do what Fai said: stick to Omegle.

Not an issue. My tastes are somewhat kinky, but not nearly as freaky as other people's are. And that might change later on. Just don't make generic anime guy. And it's kind of difficult tailoring a character to another, since you won't know who your parter will be until you've got one. It isn't having a significant other, it's fucking typefucking. And even in real life, you don't just tailor yourself to your lover's fit. Or at least you shouldn't.
Just go out there and make something. You're awake right now, so just do it. You can always edit or just cut your losses and start again, or stop, if you don't like it.
First and foremost, think about you. What do you want? What would you like? And make a character from there. Just because you've got a character, that doesn't mean you can't do other things.
