Well, it started off as a setting inspired by celtic mythology with a very low-fantasy feel, but then tech and power creep caught up to it and now it's a little bit of a mishmash. Basically, your PC is an immortal spirit from another world called a Milletian, who can accomplish feats far beyond the scope of normal humans. Most people interpret it as the Milletians are people that died in other worlds and the game's world is their afterlife, but canon leaves it ambiguous.
Very animu style, but its rather dark story arcs make a pretty interesting contrast with the light style. While most of the world lives in prosperity, there's always something grotesque just out of the corner of the eye… Pic #1 is some average PCs. Pic #2 is an average endboss for a story arc.
In terms of gameplay, everything is skill-based, and there are no classes (though you can choose a talent, which levels certain groups of skills faster than others). Combat is notably less DPS than a lot of other MMOs and fights often fall into a nice-feeling flow and rhythm once you get a feel for how your skills and attack motions work. Also, arrows fucking hurt.
Also, I should have mentioned erp is a bannable offense so everything needs to happen in really isolated areas or over skype. I just wanna play the setting. My main character is a huge lesbian

The only classes like berserker are warrior and dark knight, one uses great axes(simply referred to as axes in the game), and the other uses great swords. Both are tanks. The only melee dps class that uses a 2 handed weapon is dragoon, and they use polearms/lance style weapons. Personally having played both berserker lancer and warrior in tera. And having played paladin, warrior, and dark knight, warrior is probably the closest to berserker of all the jobs in the game. Able to tank well, do great aoe tanking, awesome dps(comparatively to the other tanks) when offtanking. Keep in mind there is no active blocking in ffxiv, its one thing i wish could have come from tera…

The Entry membership allows one character per world and 8 characters total, but Standard is $2 more and allows 8 per world, 40 total. As for server, anything's fine with me. I'm in England, so an EU server works best, but my connection tends to still be pretty good to US servers. Regardless, a little bit of lag shouldn't affect casual play much, but you should take priority in choosing a server if you're gonna be the healer.
