There's a trend among vapid roleplayers who lack the chops to do good smut to try to hide it with things like lots of pictures, eye-catching inlines, covering their profiles with hearts… You can look at some of the top profiles on RPHaven in particular and they're HTML nightmares with snowflakes falling down the page and your cursor turns into an anime girl's face or there's music playing or whatever.
When I open a profile, I'm looking solely for an idea of how well that person can write. It's not worth thinking something like, "Ohhh, shit, their character art has BIG BOOBS, I must play with them!" or whatever, because you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I look at their physical description of their character for interesting and vivid language, and I look at their customs for an ability to coherently realize what's appealing about their particular kinks.
If anything, a "well made" profile that clearly had lots of time put into making it pretty is a huge warning sign. Back when murals were a thing on F-List, if someone had a big mural I'd just avoid them like the plague 'cause they'd almost certainly be hot trash.
I'm probably gonna rub someone the wrong way with this post, but those are just my personal experiences. The profiles I like the best are the ones that showcase a person's vocabulary and ability to focus on fetish material, I don't give a fuck about the smoke and mirrors bit.

I've been hoping for a while to find someone who'll play out more or less a 'Bioware' style fantasy party with me. I've got what is basically an army of female characters from fantasy settings that I rotate around. I've been wanting someone to partner with one or a few of them in a RPG party kind of way, starting by meeting one and recruiting her, beating the snot out of bad guys as we advance the story. In case I need to clarify - which I probably do - I mean having an on going continuity with the characters in a clear setting, with allowance for an equal measure of erotic and non-erotic play. It could honestly just be with one person, as far as I'm concerned; Beggars can't be choosers, and all that. I think the problem is balance. On F-list, a lot of people want all porn all the time. On Gaia, adult content is almost certainly against the ToC, so they're the two extremes. I always wanted to play out an impersonation type of roleplay.
