Next day, I'm talking to him again, when suddenly I get a message from him that has nothing to do with our conversation. It's from his spouse apparently, who is very angry to find her (now ex) partner was doing this kind of thing behind her back.

So apparently I just indirectly broke up someone's marriage. I don't think I should feel bad or like this is my fault (he never mentioned anything about being in a relationship with someone else, so it's not like I could have known) but nonetheless I feel bad for the circumstances at least. The really crazy part is that this isn't actually the first time this has happened to me, either! Does anyone else ever find themselves in this situation, or do I just have some really bad luck?

I think, in the future, I'm going to start asking my ERP partners if they're in a relationship with someone else before we do something. I'd like to think I shouldn't have to ask, and people that are in relationships where they shouldn't do this sort of thing wouldn't do this sort of thing… But obviously that thought isn't correct.

Hm… I guess that's a good point. I'm probably over-reacting, it's just weird because this isn't the first time it's happened. I don't need to ask people if they're single, that'd probably just makes me seem creepy. Especially if it's the first time I'm really talking to someone.

I don't really know if they are breaking up or if that's just something the wife said in the heat of the moment- I don't know any of the specifics of the situation but I can understand why someone would feel angry. It's frustrating that I've messed up someone else's relationship, but I guess it probably wasn't a very good relationship if something like this could happen… And I don't know if anyone could really blame me, seeing as I didn't even know he was in a relationship. Well, anyone besides the wife, at least. Hopefully they didn't have kids.

Well, he's messaging me back now, so I have to go decide what, if anything, I'm going to say to him.
