Is it frowned upon to use real-life pictures for a character's profile/appearance? Keeping in mind the picture is legal (fully clothed etc).

Not frowned upon, per se, people just tend to prefer artwork to photographs. It lends itself more to the fantasy behind it all, I guess, rather than the way photographs appears a kind of a stark contrast since there are real elements to them. Anime-stylised pictures tend to be common because a) Online databases for them are more prevalent and easier to navigate and b) It's often a crossing of interests to people who frequent this board anyway.

But hey, I'm no psychologist, these are all just personal observations.

It's worth noting that there is a thread up at the moment dedicated to the discussion of roleplaying as real people.

There's no inherent moral dilemma in erping as a child. Just consider whether whatever board you're on is hosting a generally normalfag userbase.

I think it might be against f-list rules to use real life pictures to portray an under age character, even if the model is over 18. Plus, as previously mentioned, I think most people prefer artwork to photos to help with the fantasy.

It is against F-list rules to use photographs of anyone that looks under 18 in profiles, regardless of how much clothes they're wearing.
