Server transfers are available, but with megaservers now there's no point. We don't heavily WvW and that would be the only reason I can think of to do that. You can access the same maps as us without the transfer. Otherwise, you would buy a transfer in the Gem Store, or use the Guest feature to "visit" our server.

I deleted my characters but it still won't let me change servers. Do I really need to pay to be able to create characters on a different server? The GW2 wiki says that I can switch for free, but I don't have that option on my character select screen.

Are there different servers?

Yes. When you log into the game for the first time, you will have the opportunity to choose your home world, which you will represent during World versus World.[5]

Can I play on a server outside of my region?

No, it is not possible to play on servers outside of your chosen region, unless the player decides to transfer to a different region (e.g. from NA to EU). You are not able to join the Chinese servers either, due to the vast differences between the Chinese and Western version of Guild Wars 2.

Can I change servers?

Yes. You can change your home world. There is a limit of one such transfer every seven days per account; each transfer will cost gems determined by the destination server population—500, 1000 or 1800 gems for medium, high or very high, respectively. After a transfer, all existing and future characters on your account will play in the new world. You can also delete all characters and it will allow you to transfer for free. Your gold, bank, achievement points and titles will not be affected if you delete all characters.

I'm on one server, but my friend is on another. Can we play together?

Since the April 2014 Feature Pack, all servers are linked together with a megaserver. If you have a friend, they should be in the same map that you are in, regardless if you are in another server or not. However, you will not be able to play WvW with them if you are on different servers; the rest of the game can be completed together without being on the same server.

How many people are there going to be in each world/server/instance?

Each world will host "many thousands" at a time. There is a limit per map in the world, although ArenaNet hasn't offered a specific number. Each World versus World map is going to support up to 500 players.[6]

Long answer, they changed the way that worlds work post-launch. Instead of being fixed servers, all zones create individual servers as population demands, similar to how the Overflow system worked at release. They've also redone the guild system so that they no longer have 'server chapters'; instead, guild members across all servers (in the same region) will have the same upgrades and guild missions.

Short answer, yes. Your server (beyond region selection (NA/EU))only matters in WvW for selecting your team.

Literally every member is /d/eviant - that's the basis of the guild.

The game isn't p2w, the gem store stuff is all aesthetics and gems are obtainable by paying gold. The f2p life is hard because there are several restrictions to prevent botting and abuse. For instance, you can't PM someone unless you're on their friends list - easily solvable by using guild chat to ask someone to add you or party. There're ways around it!

Consider making a f2p account, join the guild, and if you like the game consider buying it.

Typically, the guild is all races but Charr. Not saying we don't allow them but I've not seen much other than maybe Mara that does Charr stuff.

The restrictions are basically what upgrades the guild uses.

Someone who is F2P will not be able to:

Queue upgrades

Use Scribing

Harvest the Synthesizers

Use the +% drink seller at the tavern

Use the Arena

Of those five, the first three are only really relevant for established players, but the last two can be a pain. Not having +10% XP, WXP or track progression is a pain.
