Why in the world do people hide when they where last on for their f-list profiles? To me, it seems like it just causes inconvenience for their partners. I've tried to brainstorm some reasons why someone might do it, but for the life of me I can't think of a reason that doesn't end up seeming highly inplausable.

 No.63990

What setting makes this hidden? Is it related to an existing setting that one could accidentally turn off?

I imagine most use it as a defense against overly-attached players who act like they're owed roleplay with people 24/7. However, it's still not a good system and it's always a turn off and a red flag when someone hides it.

 No.63993

Because stalkers are annoying. It's bad enough getting pmed on entry by someone you will never RP with. But some people are autistic enough to check other characters and match based on time alone.

Stalkers.

 No.64070

Stalkers.

As in, I'm one of them, and if you hunt well enough you can find -every single one- of someone's alts if they're vaguely similar in any degree, with or without the consent of the other player. There are very easy key phrases that a player uses frequently, that you can use in the search function to relatively easily find alts.

 No.64072

Why does everyone use F-List to begin with?

I thin that site is horrible.

is there any better alternative?

thought so

 No.64076

When I check my notes from my phone on a whim it doesn't mean I was online to play and you missed me.

Also >>64070

I don't like it being obvious that all of my profiles log in/out in unison.

Well, we have this board now.

This.

But also it can help if a stalker is messaging you though. I once had someone who banged and quit on one of my characters, then later messaged me again trying to start something else with the same character. My sixth instinct kicked in and I checked both their login times and they turned out to be the same person, so I messaged them back saying "Yeah, you can bang this character, as soon as you finish up with the other character, you ass."

They quit that F-list account within the hour.

And also sometimes I just get a craving for playing certain characters so I lurk around on certain profiles.

Reply at a leisurely pace (which everyone I play with knows and are fine with). Having that feeling of people knowing you're there but no immediate response from you is a reason I don't particularly use F-List, because it's so attention demanding while some of our lives demand we juggle a few things here.

Your last online time is really just something people who aren't friended to you be able to guesstimate/know when you are online, stalker or not. For some it's useful, but for others it's… well, not.

>Why in the world do people hide when they where last on for their f-list profiles?

Generally it's a namesquatter or core name wielder trying to hide the fact that they've been offline for a year…

 No.64225

I've had people chase me around when I was logged under an alt. Having some shitter call you out because they saw your last-online as "a few minutes ago" is not fun at all. There's a reason why I have different characters with different kinks.

So, as usual, one small group of dumbfucks ruins it for the rest of the people. Away went the last-online.

This is pretty much it for me too.

 No.64272

From my experience the type of people who complain about stalkers on the website are easily the stupidest autists you can meet. Like, months of great rp and then silence because one wrong thing was said and they cant handle it, even bring themselves to mention it.

As someone who has had plenty of 'stalkers' I can tell you being blunt and direct is the easiest way to go about it- in four and a half years on the site I have only ever had to set one person to ignore. State your issues, tell them to fix it or fuck off.

Besides, one of my favorite pets is formerly a stalker of mine. If they're even remotely competent they're a great way to guarantee rp because you can manipulate them super easy

If you use the tool to hide yourself and complain about stalkers, you're probably the source of the issue, not them.

Also his thread is being odd to me, if I'm putting in duplicates here I apologize

This is probably the most batshit and non sense making reply I've seen. I don't see how not wanting to get hounded by some shitbird with ants in their pants and no sense of boundaries makes us the problem. Most sane people don't like being stalked and harassed for a typefuck. If you can't recognize that you're probably one of the problem nightmares.

This can be applied to your post too. You're writing fucking gibberish and >>64272 is right about pretty much everything he said so far.

I dislike confrontation nearly as much as I dislike cling. Sometimes I would much rather roleplay with someone when I'm specifically in the mood for them or their kinks and not deal with a thousand pouty prodding messages in the meanwhile. People don't always do well when you try to set boundaries or get some space.

 No.65981

As somebody who likes to play on a variety characters but has really clingy partners, I decided to hide it so I can get some space without having to make a new account for each of my profiles. It doesn't really cause any issues on my end because if I want to be seen as online with a character, I'll join chat with them. If I don't it's because I don't want to play said character at the moment, but they can always send me a note if they need to get in touch.

Also

>>64076

I check my notes and such frequently but it doesn't mean I was actually "online" and talking/RPing with people. If I tell somebody that I'm too busy to play while I'm away from home but I just so much as peek at stuff on my phone, people can get the wrong idea when they see my online status updating.

Plus having the same last online status across my shitload of characters is uncomfortable and makes it easier for alt stalkers should that ever become an issue for me. I don't link my characters and prefer to keep them all as separate as possible.

>>65959

I can understand that, and I can also understand that despite my experiences, there are definitely people on the website that do not understand no no matter how aggressively you say it.

But you also need to understand that its only with these types that it becomes confrontation. "Hey, sorry, when you posted about your character's [insert fetish you dont like here] it made me uncomfortable and killed my mood, I'm sorry." is not confrontational who actually likes it when their rp partner enjoys the rp too. I would suggest you at least /try/ to start just saying it to people- you shouldnt be an ass to people that can take a no just because some people cant, basically.

I'd also understand if you can't bring yourself to try. That's fine. But I also think its important that you do try.

>>65981

If you have a ton of alts, anyone who cares to find them already has. Everyone has a set few 'filler fetishes' which are always the same, and everyone has their own posting style/way of making their customs look nice. This is something I learned from the one person I've had to ignore- something they told me when messaging one of my hidden alts.

Which is amusing, because I only hide my alts because some characters dont mesh with other characters of mine. I also barely log in on my hidden alts, so even if its rare for me, I will again say I know the depths certain weirdos will go to on this site.

Oh, I don't do that. I'm someone other than who you were talking to, I was just throwing in my own two cents. Generally I'm pretty vocal in communicating feedback with how I feel about an ongoing roleplay with a partner and take a stand on stuff I don't like. I just have people who I do genuinely enjoy playing with who are nice but kind of shit on an OOC level and it's not that they're assholes! It's just that they don't handle rejection very well at all. And then some of them super embarrassingly take their moping to shared channels or my other friends, and from there it can quickly become a mess of involved drama that distracts from my RP.

This is just a general reason why I hide when I was last online and don't link all my profiles together so I'm harder to sleuth out. Sometimes I just want to ERP in peace without tiptoeing around various hangups, insecurities and perceived inadequacies.
