I've never been the type to let my partner know how I'm feeling OOC, so I guess that's what trips me up. I don't think there's anything wrong with asking that kind of thing, the huge paranoia and annoyance comes because 70% of the people who ask don't actually want to better themselves. They want to know how exactly to call you out on your "pettiness" for not wanting to typefuck them, so after the third or fourth time you get an angry explosion when you explain that X thing in their profile doesn't interest you, you sorta don't want to answer that question anymore.

Not that it's something that you should blame 100% on the person who asks. Lots of people in the "If I don't want to play with you then I don't want to play with you, don't fucking ask" camp can have their own levels of retardation. After all, if there's something in the profile that looks like it could present an issue to a scene, they could always point it out and ask about it politely, but some will decide on the spot you're a lost cause without even giving you the benefit of the doubt. How annoying is it when you RP with someone, you both have a great time, and then they end up disappearing for a while? From one week to a few months, for example. I tend to do this quite a bit, and I always feel bad or guilty because of it. I keep telling myself that my partners are mature, and that they have plenty of other things to keep themselves busy with, but I still feel bad for just poofing after an RP or two.

If someone is approaching you, sitting duck who just tosses ads every ten minutes, with an idea that appeals to you and a good OOC attitude, what reason would you have not to at least CONSIDER offering to start, other than "I'm a pretty princess and you must work to impress me"?

Polite is to recognize the effort your partner has made OOC and offer or ask to start depending on that. Polite is to decide which character makes more sense to be introduced first in a scene and go from there. Polite is to admit whether you just don't feel like starting or asking kindly if your partner wouldn't mind doing so.

There's nothing polite about sitting in a throne and expecting your partner to start "becuz u approched me".

I have a chat client that I wrote, which I haven't released yet because I don't want to make F-List a worse place than it already is but I have a few specific features that make the site so much more bearable:

If the person replies with a one word reply more than 3 times and it's the first time you've contacted them (this only happens within the first couple minutes) it autoblocks them.

It allows me to bookmark people who are unbookmarkable because fuck that shit (also makes it so clearing bookmarks by toggling that option doesn't work).

People with specific combinations of kinks and traits get blocked without their messages showing up: I.e. Pansexual, no males.

It keeps track of people's profiles and notifies me if it thinks someone is an unlisted alt (through exact same kinks, any customs that match perfectly, or contact data).

I keep adding more features, and I may even make it public some day, except I think Kali and slimCat will hunt me down and kill me if I do.

Yeah. I'm not bothered by people's kinks, ever, even if I don't share them I'll still play them sometimes if you've been an enjoyable partner, so it didn't occur to me on here that hiding a character might be kink based. It also doesn't search through all characters, it only finds ones I click on, as well as, if the two profiles are different enough it won't even know.

Bookmark categories are in the works at the moment, being able to sort your bookmarks by kinks they're interested in, or what character you bookmarked them on (if they were bookmarked from the client, since F-List doesn't release that).

I'm curious if anyone here has any experience with the staff outside of moderation stuff, as in, RP and the like.

Well, I saw that coming. First off, as soon as there was something wrong you really should have just said so. I think this is really just a case of misunderstanding, sadly. When I approached you, I tried to get a sense of what you were okay with, but I guess I failed on that part. When you said the things you did on other characters and all that, I thought you'd be fine with where I took it. You specifically said " Ya can be as mean as you want, but there has to be comfort and eventual healing", which I took to mean that as long as it wasn't baseless abuse heaped upon abuse, it was fine. (Which isn't something I even do, I'm not very fond of hard-ass dommes and prefer it to be a crueler kind of teasing if anything)

Anyways, just figured I'd address this. Really, I'm sorry if I made you upset, it's not a big deal if you didn't like it though. I really don't get the importance people place on bookmarks. It's just a means to keep tabs on publicly available profiles, but people treat it like it's stalking or a burden on the bookmarked character. It's annoying to just be asked "Can I bookmark you?" because, like, 1) I don't care who has me bookmarked, and 2) I could have my character set to unbookmarkable, but they're not. The bookmark button is right there on my profile, by my choice. If what they ~really~ want to know is "can we RP in the future?" they should just come out and ask that instead of being cagey.

Like the thing about marijuana is that it's entirely possible to hallucinate on it, but it's incredibly rare due to certain factors.

For instance, having an incredibly low tolerance and smoke a decent amount of high-quality weed can put you in a state where closing your eyes affects your dream-state in a way (I'm not sure how to properly word that)

Pretty much, hallucinating on marijuana is more of a thing where when you close your eyes, your brain starts making pictures as if you're dreaming, if that makes sense.

That's why a lot of times you'll hear to either "close your eyes" or "don't close your eyes" when it comes to drugs, because your brain likes to fuck with you when you aren't actually looking at anything.

So pretty much, if someone is 100% awake and eyes open, you probably shouldn't be seeing shit unless you have schizophrenia.
