I'm not super familiar with the character as a whole since I didn't really follow the whole GG thing nor did I really care, but based on what I've read in this thread it seems like she'd practically be a self insert since I'm also a loser virgin neet girl who wants people to shut the heck up about about politics or whatever in games and just play them so I almost feel like I'd do a great job

A big issue I have with Vivian James is that she's so closely related to the GamerGate movement that I (as someone who would rather not be apart of it) feel a little alienated from playing with or as her.

That's kinda how I see it, too. I know she was born out of a dumb internet slapfight that I couldn't care less about, but I like her design nonetheless; it's cute, colorful, and expressive. While she might get into inane arguments about trivial details of a game, I don't see her as being too attached to any particular cause.
Vivian is a good girl that just wants to get her game on, that's all. And I just want to pat her head and watch her fuss about it.
