Option 1

Copy my template and modify it for the board

Hey /monster/, the faggots over at /a/ are making a share project against TPP and we would like your help
=='''The fuck's this shit and why should I care?'''==
As you should you the TPP will fuck over pirating and copyright everyfuckingthing.
To counter it we started this, our plan is to hoard shit pre-TPP and then share it around with I2P.
=='''What do I do?'''==
We are still planning shit, so there are four things you can do right now
>hoard shit
To share it afterwards. Eroges, doujinshis, anything goes.
>download I2P
Might as well get used to it now
>Suggest shit and help in the board
>>>/eternalarchive/
>spread it around
We need as many anons on this as possible, contact other small boards and chans.
=='''Why I2P'''==
Because it's TOR on steroids. It's safer than TOR, it has more features(such as torrenting) and it's newer meaning that is isn't called pedo net 2.0 yet.
Why bother, TPP won't do shit
Odds are it will, but even if it doesn't there will be a new TPP. Companies are "losing money" with all these pirates, do you think they won't try to fuck us over each chance they get? We are now doing what we already should have had: preparing for the worst. Even if nothing happens next year, what's to say that it wont happen the year after?

OPTION 2

Post whatever you want, make sure to include what we are doing and why. Tell them why we are using I2P and all.

P.S. try to post only in chans/boards you are used to posting in so you won't make us look like a bunch of newfags who don't know what they are doing. Post pic related and link them here.

2d352d No.13

Sorry if this is a newfaggish question, but where should I download from? My ISP throttles Bittorrent traffic, anywhere to direct download from? I'm mostly planning on saving anime, manga, and ebooks.

e34cca No.14

>>13

Use i2p, and they can't tell what's going through your traffic.

776648 No.15

Hello, I'm the owner of the irc channel of this project, #EternalArchive on Rizon, can the owner of this board come by tomorrow?

2d352d No.16

>>14

Oh yeah, uploading to I2P is definitely part of the plan, I was referring more to where to download from since my Bittorrent speed is throttled and downloading takes forever. I have very poorfag internet.

1213f4 No.17

Use uTorrent and private trackers while you still can. And if you can, use DDL as well.

uTorrent is botnet, use Deluge or qBittorrent.

1213f4 No.46

I do /m/ and /desu/. But we should approach /m/ with caution.

3ce81a No.49

Would be good to post everything to ipfs and have many of us pin the content.

717b84 No.52

>>49

IPFS is distributed but not secure. Also it's very difficult to host dynamic pages using it.

3ce81a No.53

>>52

IPFS is entirely encrypted, as well as fully distributed and decentralized all the way to the datastore. It is also compatible with i2p and tor for anonymity. Ethereum runs on top of ipfs to provide full dynamic content with smart contracts, but that doesn't matter when we're interested in archiving.

i2p is only decentralized and distributed in the routing. If you host content over i2p, people must access it by connecting to you and nobody else. Nobody can cache the content for you either. This makes the situation only a tiny bit better than clearnet torrents (which aren't anonymizing).

Gnunet and ipfs are on a whole different level in terms of keeping data alive and seem to fit much more closely with the goals of this project.

717b84 No.54

>>53

That sounds potentially very useful.

How hard would it be for anons to set up?

3ce81a No.55

>>54

Fairly easy. There are instructions on ipfs.io and a list of precompiled binaries. To publish a file,

ipfs add <file>

For folders,

ipfs add -r <file>

Or through the webui, go to localhost:5001/webui in your browser, select the files tab, and drag'n'drop any file or folder.

You can also assign a dynamic name so that the latest version of your upload can always be found by doing

ipfs name publish <hash of the file or folder you uploaded>

Gnunet is much harder to setup and requires a lot of fiddling on windows, but once installed it's a matter of doing

gnunet-publish <file> -k <some keyword> [-k <some more keyword>]

Although it does not support content-based addressing (content-based addressing means that if two people upload the same file, they both act as seeds for the same request rather than serving as seeds for requests to two different files with identical content). On the other hand, it comes with an anonymizing solution out of the box, and like ipfs, is fully distributed and decentralized with full encryption.

9081ae No.57

>>53

Sounds good, we haven't decided on anything other than that we'll use I2P. Make a thread about it explaining how it works to get the attention of other anons.

>>46

>But we should approach /m/ with caution.

Explain

1213f4 No.58

>>57

The current population of /m/ is pretty shit lately, and many of the shitposters there could potentially fuck up our plans if they know about this endeavour.

But at the same time, the tripfags and namefags from there would be extremely helpful particularly in terms of old, classic anime. Not just mecha stuff, but in general. That's why I went for Eternitychan instead, because it's run by one of the aforementioned tripfags.

06ca9c No.72

>>55

gnunet sounds interesting. have you tested it? are the transfer sepeeds acceptable?

3ce81a No.76

>>72

ipfs speed was good enough to livestream 720p videos. gnunet took over an hour to transfer a 2mb file. That's not the main issue though, the main issue is that it takes forever to even get a handle on the file before you can start downloading it.

a2ccd1 No.90

>>55

So after I upload to ipfs, will I have to keep the file forever?

Will it work like torrent, like, as long as it has at least one peer it's available?

3ce81a No.93

>>90

As long as there's at least one person online who has the file pinned it's available. Moreover, if all the parts are available in people's cache, even if the file is not pinned by anyone, it's available.

Basically, http offers a spectrum of operation that smoothly moves from http to torrent as more people care about your file. If nobody cares, you have to host the content yourself. If many people care, you could just delete it as it's alive in cache and pins around the globe.

a2ccd1 No.94

>>93

But I publish, then what? It prints out an hash, what can I do with it?

a9fb57 No.102

>>44

i used to frequent /loomis/ and 4/ic/ aside from the respective sitcky there is not much to information to be archived. there are constant book sharing threads. but that of course can continue in i2p without any problem.

3ce81a No.107

>>94

The hash is how you access the latest version of your site. Go to ipfs.io/ipns/<the hash> after publishing to access the site from an external gateway. If you want to give a more convenient name to your site, you can use a dns TXT record with value "dnslink=</ipfs/<hash> or /ipns/<hash>>" and wait for DNS propagation, as you'd do for an http site. Then you can use /ipns/<convenient name> to access it locally, and within 48 hours, other people should be able to as well.

The hash for the individual files is how you access the current version for your file. The uri scheme involves /ipfs/<hash> for those.

b03f17 No.109

>>102

Not sure about /ic/ but you should tell /loomis/ to hoard art books and other resources and link them here.
