f6da13 No.347

The Caves, it's abundant in underground ponds, only if you can find them. The caves are frigid, despite this, they have boiling sulfuric pools as well.

The Sik are insects that use it's two legs to hop around, and uses it's tail to push off the ground.

They has a head ornament that has no blood vessels going to it. They use it to confuse the Zih into biting it, as to give the Sik a better chance at survival.

These creatures a much more resistant than the Zih, as they feed off the Ubt, using their dual-pronged lower leg to scoop up any that float to the edges.

The Zih the only creature with bioluminescence in this dark abyss. It is amphibious, and moves from pool to pool. They don't have eyes, and therefore, some get lost in the migration from pool to pool.

These creatures dominate the water pools, as they are the only creatures that are capable of swimming.

On land, these creatures are very slow, and move like an earthworm, making them easy to pick off.

They feed off the Sik, which can become a problem, as the Sik have eyes, and are much faster, meaning they also starve easily.

The leads the pools to be littered with dead Zih at the bottoms of them.

The Ubt are waterbound creatures who float on the surface of the sulfur pools, they absorb nutrients from the vents below those volatile pools.

They're amorphous body allows them to move around, but even then, their movement is slow, and inconstant.

The Ubt develops small tendrils to dip down into the water. It allows them to absorb more nutrients from the pools below as well as grabbing small Zih for huge boosts of calories.

Hey Neo - any way we can get a visual breakdown on the Sik anatomy? Just so we can all be sure of what is a leg, a head, etc?

The Ziho splits from the Zih. It has developed a large network of sensory nerves to feel vibrations and navigate the cave. This lessens the fatalities from getting lost traveling pool to pool.

The Ubt evolve air sacs, this allows them to hover above the sulfuric pools, it also lessens their losses if they hover too far to the edge of their pool.

They can also fly for short amounts of time away from their mother pools. Though if they get too far, they'll deflate and die.

One of the Ziho's muscles elongates and frays at the end. It forms something of an antennae.

It is unwieldly and hard to control, but it still benefits the Ziho, because they can reach out to touch other things, like a Sik or a wall to feel it.

They now have more nerves in their dorsal lump, and some of them are used to command and perceive more intelligently now.

The Zihb splits from Zih. Zihb have flatter bodies are are able to swim faster and better. Their flatter bodies make it harder to get from pool to pool by just crawling, so Zihb have taken to leaping out of the water to get a head start. this doubles as a hunting tactic, catching unaware Zih until they're already in its glowing maw.

Zihb won't turn down a free meal, are are more often than not found at the bottom of the pools, eating the bodies of its fallen cousins.

The ubt have gained small egg pods growing off of them. They have small balloons attached to them, and when they're ready to detatch, they start rising with their balloon gracefully.

When they reach a good height they explode, spreading the small eggs all over the environment.

To become better a hopping, their main leg starts to split further. This also allows them "run" hop.

Their eyes also start to become larger, as to help interact with each other.

Sik now start to hunt in packs, using very premature bioluminescence to communicate.

They also adapt to have sharper proboscis allowing them to stab into the flesh of the Zih, Ziho, and Zihb.

However, something strange happened, many of the Sik now have tumors in their false heads, for seemingly no reason.

Ziho become the Ziho-hum.

Ziho-hum are longer-bodied, and are more adept at swimming than before. The nerves in their now-sail are very sensitive to vibrations, making the Ziho-hum a textile hunter.

mucles begin to for small limb-like structures, which allow it to move more quickly while traveling between ponds. They alternate between scrunching along like an inch worm (using their whole body to move), and taking akward, but more energy efficient left-right steps (only using their mid-body mucles, and using the "legs" to hold their spot).

The Ubt Change into the Obut.

Though many of the seeds fall into or near the sulfuric pools, others fall much further.

Many of these die, but on occasion they struggle to live, and after generations, they adapt

The Obut act like a grass, but can't spread very quickly, as they have very short lifespans. Therefore, they must incubate and create seeds as quickly as possible, this leads to the balloons to never inflate, but makes for a good way to rip the seeds off.

The Obut also wave their seed tendrils around, trying to get the attention of the Ziho and Ziho-hum. This allows their seeds to be spread through excrement, though, has virtually no nutritional value to the Ziho types.

tumors in their false heads end up growing into gross pockets of pus. When Zih-type try to bite it, thinking it's a head, they get a splash full of pus and other gross stuff. This is gross and it makes the ziho-types lose their appetites.

The Obut has grown roots that dip down into the nutrient rich sediment.

When the top occasionally shrivels up, nourishment that is stored in the Obut will quickly be moved to the roots for storage so that they can regrow.

The roots will occasionally reach outwards and then up, creating new extensions of the Obut.

The Sik split off into the Shik.

They have much more developed bioluminescence, and they use it to communicate with each other. This helps them hunt and warn other Shik.

They also have more hook-like vestigial legs, they now function more like arms. They use it to catch Ubt out of the air.

Some Sik turn into the Sika.

The Sika are smaller Sik, and have lost their bioluminesocity.

They are more parasitic, but are very weak, and are often feasted upon by the Zih types.

Their food is mostly Obut and Obut seeds, but they will go after Zih types from time to time.

The Ziho-Zum evolved from the Ziho-hum.

It has 2 antennae now and its dorsal lump is smaller and flatter to give it more control while swimming. It developed fins and fin-like feet that help it swim faster and jump out of water with more strength.

They are far more reptilian. Though needing to find pools to drink from, they no longer need to be in the water.

They have also slightly increased in size, being only a bit taller than a Ziho-Hum, and evolved downwards facing mouths, to hunt for Zih, Zihb, and Zihbo, as they are the smallest.

EVENT

The cave is quieter than normal, Zhiboz flying peacefully through the air, Shik and Sik at rest. The many Zih and Ziho types and Ziz peacefully trekking about the small pocket of open land. Ubt are floating above, and latching onto the sulfur vents in the less volatile water-sulfur pools. Finally, Obut sit expectantly for a passer-by to pick one of it's seeds.

Crack…

Suddenly, cracks can be seen from some of the walls and the ceiling.

One, three, ten, twenty, forty fractures… then suddenly…

BOOM

The entire ceiling and a large portion of a couple walls break.

Stalactites being to fall, crushing whatever they land on. A few land into the pure sulfur pools; However, more fall into the pure water pools, crushing the defenseless creatures within.

From the rubble of the incident, some creatures emerge…

The titanic Veayie stumbles slowly into the now open cave from it's native cave.

It's intestines glow from the holes of it's body. They are meant to draw smaller creatures towards them, and then spray the surrounding area with their bile. They then feast upon the melting carcasses by eating them through their mid legs.

They use echolocation to traverse the caves, having six ports on each end of their bodies to excrete air from their air sacks. The sound excreted from the air sacks is a very much like a trumpet, but with much more distortion.

These extraterrestrial-looking creatures have hairs on their backs, as too catch their horn-like noise, and evaluate the room, leading to them being somewhat slow in certain situations.

The Niph are decedents from the same common ancestor that birthed the Nish.; however, unlike their desert-bound cousins, the Niph traveled to the mountains, until falling into a sinkhole, and becoming trapped in the seemingly endless cave systems.

Though they have rudimentary sight, the have lost most of it in favor of smashing their forelegs on the ground of the caves. They then use the slight vibration of the ground to evaluate the things their poor eyesight can't.

In their native habitat, they feasted mostly upon a separate strain of Ubt, though most of these Ubt have died in this combination of ecosystems.
