a game I was playing by myself. I didn't like how it was turning out and it's not quite the same without other people. I kinda wanted to play a game with Ag and I, but I ended up not asking and now I don't feel up to it anymore.

The self-play games are fun for stretching creativity, but playing with others always forces you into a direction you never thought of going. I must admit in between successful games I would get the itch and single player games could never scratch it.

I'm so thankful for the community here, just look at what we have accomplished in a few months.

I didn't know his name, but I was only familar with the movie "Alien Planet", and only the far left creature was directly inspired by the movie. The rest are all me, with the inspiration being "make it look weird".

I totally agree. It's no fun for me to play by myself, because while I enjoy doing the spritework I don't like how the trees end up looking, because they're too boring in my opinion.

The Janjira project used to be a much different beast than it is currently. It has this whole complex system of months and weather, seasons, natural disasters, plagues, etc… It even had a cap on when a pieces would no longer be viable to evolve.

I really like this concept, but as I have found from experience, most people lose interest the more complex a game becomes. I found this out after my old evo games were very successful on 4chan. I started adding things like population and dice rolls and didn't get the same amount of traction.

Sorry I haven't been over there in a bit. My free time is limited and I prefer to spend what I can on /evol/.

I noticed that after looking at the EvoGames subbreddit (shortly before I found this board) that the simpler games got more traffic, and the complex ones got less. I even tested this out on my own with a text-based evolution one the SpeculativeEvolution board.

So now Janjira is basically the same as this board, except you start from the infancy and expand out from there. The only creature I create alone is the base, the users make the rest of the creatures as more variations are created.

Also thanks! I'm going to experiment more with my paint program over these next few days, so expect a lot of weird creatures.

I love world building. It is what inspired the original games. I have my own world that I have been working on on and off for years. Most of it is in my head and the setting keeps changing. One day I'll make it all work.

Hey Nubs of Nubterra! Sorry I've been inactive recently. I'm going to be posting the Janjira game here soon, and once it reaches the next phase, I'm going to migrate it back to it's original board.

In the meantime, I'd like your thoughts on this character design. (If any of you know the original design, have an internet cookie) This is the character design I want to get down first, as she'll dictate the rest of the other character designs and how different substances may or may not have different textures.

Got back in touch with some of the crew from Primordial Evo. For a while, we were working on a tribal reboot project, but lack of communication made it fall apart currently. It was actually Indonesian Gentleman who sent me the link to this board.
