Believe it or not, before the mid 90s (and even more so before 1988) it was actually way easier to sell cars here. Not that I am defending the yugo, but it's a shame that we dont have cars that are truly disposable like we used to in the 90s
Like the mitsubishi mirage is the cheapest car in the us at 14,000 dollars, but back in the 80s and 90s there were cars that were around the equivalent of 8000 dollars in todays money.

I'm sure they'll find a new noun for cockpit too, as that name could trigger a feminist.

So this is what they call Italian passion?
And that duct tape engineering™ on the rear bumper is priceless. It's something I love about endurance racing, how some of the most advanced race cars in the world end up working because of some duct tape. Audi does this a lot.

>WEC doesn't want grid girls
>ACO doesn't care
And here's the result.

Some WEC high ups must be quite upset about this.

Erratum, some of these are from 2014. Motorsport.com's sorting system is shit.

tape article I looked up after the RLM guys mentioned Bear Bond: http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20130806-nascars-surprising-secret-weapon , quoting a bunch because ==fuck== BBC's website
>These days, the brand commonly found on pit row is X-Flex Racers Tape, sourced from ISC Racers Tape in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. It is massive, it is expensive and it is “really nasty stuff”, says Dan Northrup, a former world champion drag racer whose family owns the company.
>X-Flex is 40 mil thick (for comparison, your average super-duty, contractor-quality plastic trash bag is about 2 mil thick), is reinforced with a layer of aluminium and is backed with a “highly aggressive adhesive that will adhere to any clean surface”, in the words of the ISC product catalogue.
>This is understatement, Northrup claims. Once it adheres, especially on a hot day or when applied to a hot part of the car such as the hood or front fenders, “you need a blowtorch to get it off”. Race fans may mistake it for super-adhesive duct tape, but, Northrup says, “it’s completely different.” Typically, X-Flex is scrapped along with the parts it is attached to after it has served its use.
>X-Flex is an adaptation of a bonding tape originally developed for the housing and roofing market. It is quite similar to emergency roof-repair products such as 35-mil-thick EternaBond.
it's like 20 bucks for an 11"x15" sheet, srsly thinking what I could do with one

Yeah, it's overclocked duct tape. Awesome duct tape.
That's pretty nice though.

m8 it is sorted by most recent down.
The link you want is this:
http://www.motorsport.com/lemans/photos/main-gallery/?t=grid%20girl
The only ones which are 2015 are the third and fourth pic.
The 3rd one is a G-Drive grid girl and the 4th are Strakka racing grid girls.
Both of them will have been employed privately by the team and neither the FIA, ACO or WEC could stop that (or at least it would be hilarious to see them try)
The grid girls (and boys) who did the sign holding and flag waving were paid for by Motul who have been there for quite a while and are the official lubricant partner (I'm not joking) of the ACO and Le Mans. They signed a new partnership with the ACO in April.
https://www.motul.com/gb/en/news/motul-strengthens-its-partnership-with-the-aco-by-becoming-the-official-lubricant-partner-for-the-driving-school-the-fete-de-l-aco-and-the-karting-center
They also do the driver parade through the town and made the decision to have 12 grid boys alongside the 49 grid girls.
This is what happens when a race has actual sponsors & partners. They pay for the grid girls because they want the advertising space.
All the other races have no sponsors or partners so nobody foots the bill for them. The WEC just straight up lied and said it was to do with being progressive.
If Audi turned up with their own grid girls and put them in front of the R18's the WEC would do absolutely nothing about it as there are no regulations against it.
If they tried to write regulations the loophole minefield they would put themselves in would be hilarious.
