Feel free to make any constructive suggestions. For the forseeable future, discussion of NASCAR, WEC/LeMans, Indycar, and other motorsport series will be allowed. It is preferable that discussion be related back to F1, but not required.

Pre-Race, Pre-Practice discussion.

I guess I can start off asking you guys whether or not you think Giedo will race in the Tilke-drom. I am worried that the "Sucesses" of Nasr and Ericsson may deter him from pursuing his seat. Furthermore, Monisha seems awfully comfortable.

Mercedes will probably get a 1-2 finish. But I have been suprised by Rosberg's disposition this year compared to last. He seems much more "calm" this season. This could either mean he's more confident, or that he has accepted his role as a unofficial number 2 driver. Given his strong performance in Australia (keeping within 1.3 seconds of Hamilton), I'm hoping that he'll put up more a fight next race.

Ferrari Also seems a team worth keeping an eye on. Not only because of Vettel's podium and "Raikkonens Recharge," but also the teams confidence as a whole. They do not seemed very worried about Williams' performance, and are rather focused on doing whatever they can to catch up with Mercedes. Cheers if they manage another podium in Malaysia.

Feel free to use this thread to voice any opinion about the upcoming race. Those were just a few thoughts that anyone else can comment on/pursue.

b64522 No.1470

McLaren said they had turned down the engine to make it to the finish in Australia due to the heat.

Given that I assume the amount of laps they can run at Malaysia will be in single figures.

As entertaining as every variant of "crashtor/maldozer" is, that most recent crash was Nasr's fault.

If Malaysia is anything like Melbourne, it's gonna be shit on a stick.

Heart breaking. Giedo is settling for 15 mil not to drive. He can buy merhi's seat at manor with that. But still he deserved the sauber seat.

Looking forward to the chance of seeing the teams in the wet, especially during the race. Anything can happen in the rain!

I'm interested to see how Kimi performs over a race. Maybe we'll see some action between Kimi and Seb, although they need both cars to finish so I doubt they'll fight too hard.

Hopefully Sauber can keep up the pace. It was great to see Nasr sticking it to the midfield. Although I'm sure Red Bulls pace will improve rather quickly.

Let's hope the Mercs suffer a freak breakdown

57c813 No.1491

I haven't watched F1 is a few years but any longevity above what was 2013 is good. I don't understand the hesitation to put together the best possible tire. Low profile would be great for f1 at high speeds but in the slow corners it would be like ice skates. The tire it self is a huge variable in the suspension equation, not to mention pressures which never really get mentioned on TV.

I heard people say that it was only using 40% which I know is complete bull. There is no way that Jenson could hold a merc behind him with these much of a deficit. What you have to realize is that while the core principle behind this site is being able to make your own board, it's still something that 99% of people here still aren't yet down with.

The vast majority of people here are emigrants from 4chan, who were tired of the excessive moderator horseshit and lack of transparency. People are still too used to core boards and legacy names, hence why the idea of making your own board is still a bit too foreign to them.

The other thing about it is that not every board should have its own board. I shouldn't have to delve into this to make my point, as there are 3000+ boards on this site, of which 90% of them are dead as fuck. This board is a clear exception as it has already established a userbase quickly enough, but that certainly not the case for the other boards that die off just as quickly as the board owner clicks the submit button.

Idk, given the size that the reddit's subreddit on F1 has gotten, (70k subs (?)), I think we still have room to get bigger.

Of course, when catering to our specific demographic, I suppose it bites being on 8chan, however, I have grown to enjoy chan layout, and Im sure that many other f1 fans can grow to enjoy it too.

Keep in mind that while niche is technically f1, we do also accept discussion of other series. It may be a smart idea for us to consider expanding into general autosports in the future, but for now lets remain more or less dedicated to F1.

Either way, the turnout we get during race weeks seems to be solid.

394075 No.1573

The Chan layout is far superior to discussing F1, or any live event for that matter, simply because you get the posts right away and you don't have to deal with the cancer of Reddit(downvotes, popularity contests, actually having posts be hidden because they don't conform to the norm, etc.)

That was a very intriguing FP2. Mercedes still having electrical gremlins gives some hope for them retiring and not just being a straight Mercedes win season.

Raikkonen was very impressive with his tyre care, very manageable dropoffs. He could possible get a surprise 2nd if a few things goes his way. He just needs to qualify ahead of the williams which seems easy enough and then have solid stints in clean air.

McLaren were just wow. How the mighty have even fallen lower. At least they can't be possibly slower than the Manor who are using last year's PU.
