I agree, those hybrids are not nearly efficient enough to make a difference. But even if the governing body wants to make changes, they have to at least not be excluding each other.

I kinda like the idea of using the hybrid engine bit for low end torque and quick launches, and maybe unrestricted funding would help battery technology and in turn improve the efficiency of batteries. But unlimited funding is just not happening in today's world.

The 1988 rules had more or less equalized naturally aspirated performance with turbocharged cars. But the fia raised the minimum weight to penalize naturally aspirated cars when Tyrrell and brabham were ballasting the cars to meet it. That fucked it up and made it unfair. Also McLaren was one of the few teams that still used turbo engines because they were announced to be banned the next year. That is why you see that domination.

Having two engines in a car (as a hybrid does) has been banned since very early in f1s history, hybrid engines should be no exception. Any hybrid engine is most efficient as a system if it boosts at certain intervals instead of producing consistent power for any given point in the rev range. I should clarify: A conventional engine doesn't have a flat power curve, but it will produce the same power at 10000 rpm no matter where it is on the track or which gear it is. A hybrid cannot give consistent power all the time under the current formula, and even if it could, hybrids reach their maximum system efficiency by boosting at the beginning and end of a straight away. The dynamics of this make poor racing.

So Bernie has said he will retire this year and that F1 will probably be under new ownership some point this year most likely the Qataris.

Lucas electronics really are fucking shit though.

On my housemates previous Land Rover, for some reason the starter motor trigger would only get 8v, which wasn't enough to activate it, and thus car no start.

We spent ages going through circuit after circuit to find the fault, with no luck.

Eventually I just threw in an extra relay, which used the 8v wire to trigger it, and feed 12v from the battery.
