Backmarker 04/09/15 (Thu) 18:44:43 8ad76c No. 2660
>>2658 Toivonen is a legend, due to dying at the peak of his career in Group B and bringing it down. He occupies the same spot in rallying that Senna in F1 and Earnhart in NASCAR do.
Kinnunen is pretty well known amongst the older crowd due to his success in sports car racing and rallying back in the old-school days.
The alphabet soup guy though is a total unknown to everyone but motorsport nerds.

>>2663 Yes, about 5% of the population are "fennoswedes" who speak Swedish as their first language, who are mainly descendants of Swedish people who moved to the western and southern shores of the country during the long era of Finland being part of the Swedish Kingdom, albeit this isn't that straightforward anymore as there has been enough mixture, (like Rosberg is Swedish name but Keijo spoke Finnish as his first language) similarly some finlandsswedes can have Finnish surnames, like during 1800's when nationalism took a fire some Swedish families took Finnish names including prominent figures in the elite as they were mainly the builders of the newfound national identity and the elite was Swedish-speaking because them being traditionally the ruling class since the land being under Swedish crown.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish-speaking_population_of_Finland I think only the worst cases of having their heads in their asses though speak ONLY Swedish as it's quite useful to know Finnish too in Finland, but for sure that's not too uncommon among the older folks who probably didn't even have to study Finnish as mandatory school subject.
A bit like how you have French-speaking minority, but if they were historically oppressors.

Not particularly far. It's about a 1100 miles from my house to the French border with Spain and according to google that should take 17hrs.
My mum hates flying from a saving the planet perspective and dad was a bit of a nutter so did the drives down through the UK, across by Ferry, through France to holiday in Spain. He did them in one go taking breaks at service stations to catch some sleep or going into a dirt cheap hotel for a night.
The only flights I have ever been on were for school trips to Berlin (History/Art) and Greece (Ancient Greek, yeah we got taught ancient fucking greek)
